[en] MESHES IN THE TEXT: TRUTH AND POWER IN THE NOVEL O DELFIM OF JOSE CARDOSO PIRES / [pt] NAS MALHAS DO TEXTO: VERDADE E PODER NO DELFIM, DE JOSÉ CARDOSO PIRESMARCOS VINICIUS FIUZA COUTINHO 22 December 2008 (has links)
Porém vemos, no
importância secundária no
verdade. / [en] In the novel O Delfim, José Cardoso Pires takes us to an
uncertain and
deep experience. Through his narrator, it is presented a
questionable crime and
along with this narrator, the reader seeks for clues which
can be fit into a greater
structure, and uncover what happened. José Cardoso Pires, in
a first time, tries to
make us believe that this narrative can be placed as a
simple police text. Yet, we
can see through the development of the text that the
hypothetical crime gains a
secondary importance in the novel; in contrast, the notes
and the discourses which
are intertwined are the ones which will provide the sense of
direction. This way,
this work aims to investigate the function of these
different notes in the narrative
and understand the flexibility of the concept truth.

[en] FROM TRUTH AS EXISTENCIAL DISCLOSURE TO THE POETIC HAPPENING OF TRUTH / [pt] DA VERDADE COMO ABERTURA EXISTENCIAL AO ACONTECIMENTO POÉTICO DA VERDADEMANZALI DE SA 18 February 2011 (has links)
verdade.
[en] In his conference The Origin of the Work of Art, of 1936, Martin
Heidegger takes the discussion about art, then restricted to the domain of the
aesthetics, to the ontological field, when defining the work of art as the settingitself-
to-work of the truth. In this dissertation I aim to clarify this peculiar
expression, taking as a thread changes in the meaning of truth that followed the
central motif in the philosophy of Heidegger, the question of being, since Being
and Time until his encounter with art in this conference. Heidegger, in his
persistence against the ingrained tradition of truth as perpetual truth, notion
pointed by him as being commanded by a logic of adequacy, takes the notion of
historical truth defined by him in the1930s, to find the most original truth of
veiling and disclosure of the alétheia, that in its essencialization happens
poetically as a work of art, establishing the truth of a new being in its opening of
historical-destinals horizons. At last, I will show how Techné, understood by
Heidegger then as original [Ursprünglich], is presented by him as the clearing of
an open by the work of art in association with the essentialization of modern
technique in its unshelter of beings as available resource of a stabilized sway.

[pt] A RETÓRICA DA VERDADE SOCRÁTICA / [en] THE SOCRATIC RETHORIC OF THRUTH23 March 2021 (has links)
A partir
valores. / [en] Through the analysis of Socrates Apology from Plato, I intent to
support, based on a group of scholars, the use that the Socrates character
does of classic forensic rhetorical strategies. Although, beyond a mere
appropriation of the rhetoric in question, the following dissertation aims to
corroborate the thesis that sustains a strong relation between the rhetoric
in Socrates Apology and the one in Palamedes Apology, from Gorgias.
Through an analysis of both texts and establishing their relations, done
in the chapters 2 and 3 of this research, I dedicate the following chapter
to the understanding of what would be the rhetorical discourse for both
authors. In one side, the dialog Gorgias, from Plato, is used as source for
the author s position regarding the rhetorical art, associated in this case
with the sophistic rhetoric. On the other side, the Encomium of Helen,
from Gorgias, is his statement on the power and usage of language. Such
works are included in this research with the object of illuminating the
thought of philosophers and sophists, represented in this study by Plato and
Gorgias, regarding the function of discourse. In the end, through the study
in the previous chapters, I aim to show that the rhetoric of truth from
Socrates is only possible due to a different relationship that the philosopher
has with his own mortality. With this, this dissertation aims to defend
that the philosopher s relation with rhetoric is possible without it being a
contradiction between behaviors and values.

[en] TRUTH X VERISIMILITUDE: NOTES FROM RENÉ DESCARTES (1596-1650) AND GIAMBATTISTA VICO (1668-1744) / [pt] VERDADE X VEROSSIMILHANÇA: APONTAMENTOS A PARTIR DE RENÉ DESCARTES (1596-1650) E GIAMBATTISTA VICO (1668-1744)PRISCILA ALBA DA SILVA 28 September 2016 (has links)
[en] Analyzing the works of René Descartes (1596-1650) and the conception of rhetoric as a meta language, provided both by Roland Barthes and by Haroldo de Campos, we investigated tension between Giambattista Vico (1668-1744) and the French philosopher. Misunderstanding forged from indirect reading of Neapolitan rector of the works of Descartes. This work analyzes the difference between the certification of knowledge in Descartes and Vico, a difference that, according elucidated, may be located in the tension between the concepts of truth and verisimilitude, respectively, as well as the concepts of way and sense. In 1699, Giambattista Vico took over the chair of Rhetoric at the Royal University of Naples. From this year by the year 1707, the philosopher gave opening speeches of school years at this institution. These talks come in under the heading of Orazioni Inaugurali (1699-1707), from which were analyzed in the present work the first two, pertaining to the years 1699 and 1700. This analysis sought to nuance not only the interweaving between form and content as, also, from there, suggest that the verisumilitude viquiana focuses formally in his writings, as well as the Cartesian truth would be derived from certain textual structure.

[en] HEIDEGGER AND THE VISUAL ARTS: THE THINKING OF ART BEYOND THE REPRESENTATION / [pt] HEIDEGGER E AS ARTES VISUAIS: O PENSAMENTO DA ARTE PARA ALÉM DA REPRESENTAÇÃOGABRIELA FAGUNDES DUNHOFER 26 June 2015 (has links)
[en] This thesis seeks to reveal, in Martin Heidegger s philosophy, the issue of representation in the visual arts. Thinking about art in Heidegger departs from the aesthetic, since he distances himself of any form of dealing with art as an object of subjective appreciation of the human being. Thus, I present a critique of the metaphysics and the thought of representation undertaken by the philosopher, mainly in the fields of art. For this purpose I investigate the work of art itself, resuming and developing fundamental issues in Heidegger s thought, as the concept of being and of truth. In the essay The Origin of the Work of Art, the conception of truth emerges as an original opening and unveiling, and art is thought as creating and transforming the world. The history of art is then understood as the history of discontinuity, in which each change is a breach, a gap that originates a new world. Therefore the art typically reveals the truth of a historical era. The next step is taken by addressing the writing About Sistine, where Heidegger brings important elements for reflection on criticism and aesthetics. Finally, I refer to the writings in which Heidegger comes to the subject of sculpture and its relationship to space: Observations on Art - Sculpture - Space and The Art and Space. Here I investigate the concepts of space and place in the work of the philosopher, and the way they relate with the works of sculptors Eduardo Chillida and Benhard Heiliger. In one last attempt, I reflect on how art would allow an unrepresentative thought. In art there is space for a new kind of thinking, not orderly and systematic anymore, but poetic, from the continuous transformation of the being that belongs to its original essence. In summary, this study seeks to articulate Heidegger s thought with an analysis guided by the visual arts, getting more in depth in the matters of representation and metaphysics critique.

[en] THE TRUTH ACCORDING TO BRESSON, IN NOTES ON CINEMATOGRAPHY / [pt] A VERDADE SEGUNDO BRESSON, EM NOTAS SOBRE O CINEMATÓGRAFOSONIA TELLES RIBEIRO 09 August 2013 (has links)
A dissertação
modelos e o automatismo; composição e montagem.
A verdade
coisas. / [en] In this dissertation, we analyzed the aphorisms collected in the book Notes
on cinematography by film director Robert Bresson, to gain a more substantial
understanding of his concept of truth. In the book, Bresson opposes his ideal of
cinema as a pure art, or cinematography, to cinema contaminated by the
representational esthetics of theater. The former attains truthful expression by
remaining consistent with its essence, following the principles given in the
aphorisms. Since these are not divided into any sections in the book, we grouped
them by themes and subthemes discerned mainly through the recurrence of certain
words. The dissertation focused on the following themes and their relation to
truth: elliptical techniques against representation; reality and falsity; the figure of
the director-artist; models and automatism; composition and editing. This
analysis supported the views that link Bresson to phenomenological conceptions,
given his grounding of truth in immediate, pre-reflexive perceptions. Such
sensations must correspond to the essence of the perceived real object, and
become untrue when cognition submits them to the linguistic system. Truth is not
in propositions, but in the fleeting sensation of the perceived object amidst the
unknown, which is both external to and inside the subject. The camera can
make the hidden reality partly visible, capturing the glimmer of its essence. In his
films, the composition presents this reality in repeated conjunctions between the
unknown, in various forms of ellipses, and the intensified materiality of things.

[fr] COMMENT ET JUSQU OÙ IL SERAIT POSSIBLE DE PENSER AUTREMENT? UNE LECTURE CRITIQUE DU PROJET PHILOSOPHIQUE DE MICHEL FOUCAULT / [pt] COMO E ATÉ ONDE É POSSÍVEL PENSAR UM OUTRO PENSAMENTO? UMA LEITURA CRÍTICA DO PROJETO FILOSÓFICO DE MICHEL FOUCAULTFERNANDA GOMES DA SILVA 11 April 2007 (has links)
responde a questões
direcionadas à sua investigação histórico-filosófica,
analisa, em retrospectiva, o seu
próprio trabalho. Essa opção de abordagem nos possibilitou
elucidar a especificidade
suspenso as
discursivas.
question de savoir
autrement? ; se déprendre de soi- même.

[en] THE CONSTRUCTION OF TRUTH-EFFECTS IN OS SERTÕES AND ABUSADO / [pt] A CONSTRUÇÃO DOS EFEITOS DE VERDADE EM OS SERTÕES E ABUSADOMARIA ALICE LIMA BARONI 15 January 2009 (has links)
duas obras: Abusado: o dono do morro Dona Marta, de Caco
Barcellos, e Os
sociedade. / [en] This research sets out to interpret the effects of truth in
Abusado: o dono do morro Dona Marta, by Caco Barcellos, and
Os sertões, by Euclides da Cunha. Effects of truth is an
expression designed by philosopher Michel Foucault in
reference to the fact of discourses being neither true nor
false in themselves. In Os sertões, the effects of truth
emerge from strategic power disputes between Church,
landowners, politicians and a seaside ruling elite that
ignores the reality of the poor and forsaken hinterlands.
In Abusado, discourse emerges from the process of
constructing the image of juvenile delinquency based on the
relations between the imprisonment system, young offenders
and society.

[en] THE ORIGIN OF THE WORK OF ART: HEIDEGGER AND THE CRITIQUE OF REPRESENTATION / [pt] A ORIGEM DA OBRA DE ARTE: HEIDEGGER E A CRÍTICA DA REPRESENTAÇÃOGABRIELA FAGUNDES DUNHOFER 10 August 2010 (has links)
[en] The task of this dissertation is to examine Heidegger s critique of the representational thought, specially within the art s domains. This paper analyses Heidegger s perspective over what a work of art would be, revisiting and developing fundamental questions in his thought such as the concepts of being and truth. It investigates, thus, the relation between work of art and truth and its unfoldings in Heidegger s philosophy. In a time when the experience of truth is generally accepted as a representation of the cognizing subject, what would be the role played by the thought? At a time like ours, would it be possible to men pursue a experience of the thinking which is not committed only with the search for classification, security and control of all things? These and other questions, such as the art question, the critique of aesthetic and the possibility of overcoming the philosophical tradition representative thinking, appear in the path of those who seek a deeper understanding of the work of this great German philosopher. With this intention, the present study had as its guiding light the essay The Origin of the Work of Art, which was the base for the reading and interpretation of other works from Heidegger that were introduced in this dissertation.

[en] FREGE, TRUTHMAKERS AND THE SLINGSHOT ARGUMENT / [pt] FREGE, FAZEDORES-DE-VERDADE E O ARGUMENTO DA FUNDAABILIO AZAMBUJA RODRIGUES FILHO 18 October 2007 (has links)
apelo
O argumento da funda (the
slingshot argument)
aqui são (i)
[en] The basic idea of the notion of truth as correspondence is
that if a
proposition (or sentence) p is true, then there is an s
such that s
makes p true (i.e. s is a truthmaker of p). This idea has
a strong
intuitive appeal, especially with respect to propositions
(or
sentences) true in virtue of empirical phenomena. On the
other hand,
if there is no alternative to Frege's thesis according to
which the
reference of a sentence is its truth-value, a theory of
truth as
correspondence seems to be undermined from the start. The
slingshot
argument intends to defend Frege's thesis and to undermine
theories of
truth as correspondence. My aims here are (i) to
investigate why Frege
concluded that the reference of a sentence is its truth-
value and (ii)
to investigate whether or not a truthmaker theory of
empirical truths
can avoid the slingshot argument.
