[en] FILM PORTRAITS: POPULATE, POPULATING, PEOPLE TO COME / [pt] RETRATOS FILMADOS: POVOAR, POVOAMENTOS, POVO POR VIR

CLARA CAVOUR PONTE 16 January 2019 (has links)
[en] Film Portraits: populate, populating, people to come is a writing exercise on a video practice and experimentation. The writing investigates filmed encounters that populate the author s camera-body and create a live and open archive of narratives, issues and new ways of populating a thought of the present, revealing new existences and fresh approaches to processing the world, instigated by a collapsed model of life and indicating a people to come.

Keller-Segel-type models and kinetic equations for interacting particles : long-time asymptotic analysis

Hoffmann, Franca Karoline Olga January 2017 (has links)
This thesis consists of three parts: The first and second parts focus on long-time asymptotics of macroscopic and kinetic models respectively, while in the third part we connect these regimes using different scaling approaches. (1) Keller–Segel-type aggregation-diffusion equations: We study a Keller–Segel-type model with non-linear power-law diffusion and non-local particle interaction: Does the system admit equilibria? If yes, are they unique? Which solutions converge to them? Can we determine an explicit rate of convergence? To answer these questions, we make use of the special gradient flow structure of the equation and its associated free energy functional for which the overall convexity properties are not known. Special cases of this family of models have been investigated in previous works, and this part of the thesis represents a contribution towards a complete characterisation of the asymptotic behaviour of solutions. (2) Hypocoercivity techniques for a fibre lay-down model: We show existence and uniqueness of a stationary state for a kinetic Fokker-Planck equation modelling the fibre lay-down process in non-woven textile production. Further, we prove convergence to equilibrium with an explicit rate. This part of the thesis is an extension of previous work which considered the case of a stationary conveyor belt. Adding the movement of the belt, the global equilibrium state is not known explicitly and a more general hypocoercivity estimate is needed. Although we focus here on a particular application, this approach can be used for any equation with a similar structure as long as it can be understood as a certain perturbation of a system for which the global Gibbs state is known. (3) Scaling approaches for collective animal behaviour models: We study the multi-scale aspects of self-organised biological aggregations using various scaling techniques. Not many previous studies investigate how the dynamics of the initial models are preserved via these scalings. Firstly, we consider two scaling approaches (parabolic and grazing collision limits) that can be used to reduce a class of non-local kinetic 1D and 2D models to simpler models existing in the literature. Secondly, we investigate how some of the kinetic spatio-temporal patterns are preserved via these scalings using asymptotic preserving numerical methods.

Teorie soudu v brentanovské škole a u raného Husserla / The Theory of Judgment in School of Brentano and in the Early Work of Husserl

Janoušek, Hynek January 2015 (has links)
The submitted doctoral thesis is an attempt to describe the nature and of the development of Brentano's theory of judgment. This description is followed by an introduction to the further development of Brentano's theory in the work of Brentano's most distinguished students Kazimierz Twardowski (1866-1938), Alexius Meinong (1853-1920), Anton Marty (1843-1914) and Edmund Husserl (1859-1938). The thesis is divided into five parts: The first part is dedicated to the explanation of Brentano's theory of judgment and starts with an interpretation of Brentano's two early books on Aristotle - On the several senses of Being in Aristotle (1862) and The Psychology of Aristotle (1867). The thesis presents Brentano's understanding of "being" in the sense of truth, his interpretation of the Aristotelian categories, his theory of parts and wholes, and his theory of intentionality and self-consciousness. Our interpretation then proceeds to Brentano's most known work, i.e. to Psychology from an Empirical Standpoint (1874), and presents the basic concept of this book, the concept of psychical phenomena. The resulting classification of psychical phenomena into three kinds introduces judgments as a kind of psychical phenomenon whose main feature consists in existential affirmation or rejection of an intentional object....

Resultatiewe voorwerpe in Afrikaans / Objects of result in Afrikaans

Bothma, Mariana Theodora. 15 June 1995 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / Because of the variety of relationships which exist between transitive verbs and their objects, all direct objects are not comparable with one another. One class of object, however, which stands by itself and which is of considerable interest, is the OBJECT OF RESULT. Because of the particular relation which exists between object and transitive verb in resulting constructions, we have here an unique class of direct object. The resulting construction is therefore, in the first instance a relation construction. This specific relation between transitive verb and object is mainly determined by the presence of or absence of certain inherent distinctive characteristics by transitive verbs and which play a determining role in identifying OBJECTS OF RESULT. From this study it is also clear that there is a semantic value present in transitive verbs (that can combine with objects of result) which has not been observed or distinguished by lexicographers and grammarians until recently. / Language Education, Arts and Culture / M.A. (Afrikaans)

Adulthood as an existential-ethical continuum in andragogic perspective and its implications for education

Robb, William McCall 01 1900 (has links)
This philosophical, anthropological study within a fundamental agogic perspective, employed an existential phenomenological approach to find out what adulthood is, fundamentally. Adulthood as being-ethical, is a more adequate description than chronological, biological, psychological and sociological descriptions of adulthood. Finding out what being-ethical is, required investigating what it means to be human. Only humans exist, and must participate effectively in agogic-dialogic relationships to alleviate existential yearning and experience dignifiedness. A code of effective agogy is presented. This code is the basis for a universal, fundamental code of ethics which transcends particular moral codes and professional codes of ethics. The words "ethicals", "ethicalness" and "ethicality" are employed to name, respectively, individual requirements in the code; acting according to the code; and the inescapable interrelatedness of experiencing dignifiedness and adhering to ethicals. Detailed explanations are given of what it means to respond fundamentally ethically. Adultness, humanness and ethicalness are different perceptions of the same continuum. All humans, whether aware of it or not, have an unattainable ideal of perfect humanness, to which they must perennially progress in order to experience dignifiedness, and humanness entails perennially becoming more human. Since no human can become perfectly human, the ideal of perfect humanness can be called "God". This means that the code of humanness is also the code of Godliness and the word "spiritual" is used to distinguish fundamental God from religious Gods. Spiritual responsibility is the interrelatedness of being-questioning and being-questioned. Ultimately, a person's humanness is assessed against the ideal of perfect humanness, by his or her own spiritual conscience. Humanity is the interrelatedness of the realities of existentiality, agogicality, ethicality, and spirituality and humanness is the inseparability of the continua of existentialness, ethicalness, agogicalness and spiritualness. A detailed existential-ethical description of education is given. The thesis ends with a post-scientific view of what essentially agogic orientated (educative) teaching is, and four recommendations are offered to enhance the effectiveness of agogy in teaching and learning institutions. Despite an extensive and radical study, it is acknowledged that the mystery that is humanity, can never be totally revealed. / Educational Studies / D. Ed. (Philosophy of Education)

Reyes Ramírez, Olga Lucía January 2018 (has links)
The visibility of indigenous communities that inhabit cities is a recent phenomenon in Colombia. Although the country considers itself multi-ethnic and multicultural in the Constitutional Charter of 1991, thus recognizing the vast diversity that composes it, indigenous plurality is still woven from common sense, mainly linked to an eminently rural existence. Taking into account the convulsed reality in Colombia, various factors encourage indigenous communities to migrate to the cities and stay there. In this process, very young indigenous children move away from the possibilities and experiences offered by their communities and territories of origin to become indigenous. Faced with this reality, the Intercultural Thought Houses (CPIs) of Bogotá emerged in 2007, as a way of giving a pertinent response to young indigenous children (boys and girls between three months and five years) who live in the city. This research tackles the strategies of existence and reexistence that indigenous children, their families, communities, and pedagogical teams of the CPIs forge in the heart of Bogotá, as living spaces to become indigenous. In this thesis, I show that CPIs potentiate their work thanks to movements and experiences of appropriation and re-signification made by the indigenous communities that are there Thus CPIs are built from the combination of diversity, mediated by tensions, disputes, and contradictions. For their study, I use notions of the anthropology of childhood, proposed by Andrea Sulzc, Clarice Cohn, and Angela Nunes. To understand existences and re-existences, I work with the theory of Colombian researcher Adolfo Albán Achinte, and suggest that strategic essentialism is a form of re-existence in the city. Moreoever, as a means to expand the debate, I examine Catherine Walsh’s proposals regarding critical interculturality. Finally, all movements of approximation that I propose are connected by the ideas of the Argentinian philosopher Rodolfo Kusch. The daily life experiences of indigenous children who are in the CPIs can be taken as the result of the development of a mestizo pedagogy, which manages to take the encounter of cultures as a scenario in dispute, mediated by tensions and contradictions, and, for that very reason, extremely fruitful. From such dynamic daily life, lived in an emerging indigenous educational setting in the city, various forms of existence and re-existence are built, and brought together in music, language, art and crafts, the relationship with the territory of origin, spirituality, and ancestral medicine.

ABSTRACT The action that drives this research is the concept of the experienced knowledge amount and the curricular insurgencies as an ethnocurriculum establishing in the existencial plots in heterogeneous formation and with mediations of various fields of existence in their space/time of “belonging”. As an effort of understanding of contemporary defined as liquid existence. I tensioned cultural pedagogy interpellation of present time that causes a kind of formation to the consumerism of cultural meanings and epistemologies that include and exclude trying to shape what we have been in the contingencies. As escape routes and misrule of the aggregation of the society of control, the curriculum when forged is articulated in theoretical production pos-critique with the power of ethnomethods from those who interacted in this research process with their narratives establishing multicentered epistemology in experiential knowledge and knowledge. I made a choice on the qualitative approach and I used the critical multireferential and involved ethnoresearch producing thus a social compromised science and new social rationalities in multiplicity of “knowledges”. The survey answers how the educators reflect about the experienced knowledge amount and curricular insurgencies for interactions with the cultural pedagogies of the present time as ethnocurriculum former vibrations because they assign sense policies to their ethnomethods as practices of non – adherence and consumerism escape of hegemonic meanings of liquid existence. This study intended to understand/make clear as such educators involved with high school segment and education for youth and adults are forging this form of “live curriculum” disarranging education in contingencies of space/time. It rendered problematic subject producing subjectification and forged truth in engendering these cultural pedagogies creating possibilities of school becomes the ethnocurriculum profusion. Finally, this research has configured the experienced knowledge amount and curricular insurgencies as empowerment of significant practices that cause formative “composite” rhizome extending the notion of curriculum/formation

Equações diferenciais funcionais em medida e equações dinâmicas funcionais impulsivas em escalas temporais / Measure functional differential equations and impulse functional dynamic equations on time scales

Jaqueline Godoy Mesquita 03 September 2012 (has links)
Veja [16], [32], [34], [36], [37], [38] e [84] / The aim of this work is to investigate and develop the theory of impulsive functional dynamic equations on time scales. We prove that these equations represent a special case of impulsive measure functional differential equations. Moreover, we present a relation between these equations and measure functional differential equations and, also, a correspondence between them and generalized ordinary differential equations. Also, we clarify the relation between measure functional differential equations and functional dynamic equations on time scales. We obtain results on the existence and uniqueness of solutions, continuous dependence on parameters, non-periodic and periodic averaging principles and stability results for all these types of equations. Moreover, we prove some properties concerning regulated functions and equiregulated sets in a Banach space which were essential to our purposes. The new results presented in this work are contained in 7 papers, two of which have already been published and one accepted. See [16], [32], [34], [36], [37], [38] and [84]

The difficulty to establish this dialog comes from the man in itself, unable to think out of the understructure of science and the modern technique. The poetic language was forgotten or ignored, turning itself obsolete in front of improvements and resources of the technique. Heidegger searches the essences to the poetry so may it be comprehended in its plenitude for the man. Technique, poetry and existence must be pronounced and investigated so the being shows itself again. To Heidegger, the man lives in a period of uncertainty due finding himself at the sunset of age. The uncertainty generates the poverty and the night of world represents the absence of god and original truth. Only with the fundamental comprehension of poetry, the man of today can project himself to the future not anymore as technique product, but with freedom to choose. The message of poetry of H?lderlin and Rilke, according to Heidegger s interpretation, transmits an alert to the contemporary man against the coming danger in his maintained relation with nature. The purpose of the following work is to build this thinking dialog, without disfigure the poetry, but taking approach over its essence, so from there to remove its true existential value.

No. of bitstreams: 1 MariaFCS_DISSER.pdf: 678091 bytes, checksum: 81cd599246671f42b16e6190d9905081 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-03-16 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior / The leitmotif of this dissertation research is on the relationship between two fields of questioning in the Foucauldian works that may be considered, at a first glance, irreconcilable: the understanding of subject as the result of determinations, on the one hand, and its ethical stance of seeking the creation of liberty, on the other. Since, despite this apparent inconsistency, both ideas are present with much emphasis on the work of the French thinker, to understand the way Foucault articulated these two ideas was necessary to elucidate and interrelate the way in which he thought about the concepts of subject, power and liberty. Traveling with the author his intellectual itinerary, it was revealed that his conception of subject and liberty can be reconciled (although maintaining its problematic nature) and, also, both are inextricably linked each one as a result of the other.
