Informationssäkerhet i kommunala förvaltningar : kultur, medvetenhet och ansvar

Holmström, Anton, Barsk, Anton January 2019 (has links)
Information is handled, stored and used by all types of organisations in conjunctionwith the digitization. Information is an important business driver in the businessprocesses of most organisations therefore the protection of the information is crucial.Information security is not solely a technical question and therfore is affectedby the organisational culture, employees security awareness and the role of managementand individuals. The study uses a qualitative method for data collectionwith an abductive approach. In the study, we perform interviews with 9 differentemployees within different municipal administrations to examine how they workwith information security. In the analysis we investigate the correlation betweentheory and the existing situation. In the discussion we highlight the importance ofmanagement participation and the effects they have on information security, securityawareness and organisational culture. We also discuss the importance of theinvolvement of individuals in information security and how it affects its effectivness. The study shows the municiapals shortcomings within information security and theimportance of individuals and managements responsibility for an effective and secureorganisation.

A Study of Women’s Perceptions and Interpretations of Online Body Representation

Skotte, Anna, Persson, Frida January 2023 (has links)
This study examines how women perceive and interpret the representation of the female body on social media and its impact on their self-esteem and mental health. Through a review of previous research, interviews with six women aged 20-30 years, and the application of social learning theory and reception studies, our aim is to provide nuanced insight into this important societal issue and give readers a strong theoretical foundation for understanding the problem. The combination of social learning theory and reception studies allows us to gain a nuanced understanding of how the audience interprets and interacts with media content, using concepts such as active audience, media use, learning, and modeling. The results of the study show that social media can have a negative impact on health and self-esteem due to the widespread prevalence of unrealistic beauty standards and constant comparison with others. This can be harmful and, in some cases, lead to eating disorders. Our findings also highlight that there are positive aspects of social media that can promote a healthy self-image, such as access to body-positive content.

Some phenomenological investigations in deep learning

Baratin, Aristide 12 1900 (has links)
The striking empirical success of deep neural networks in machine learning raises a number of theoretical puzzles. For example, why can they generalize to unseen data despite their capacity to fully memorize the training examples? Such puzzles have been the subject of intense research efforts in the past few years, which combine rigorous analysis of simplified systems with empirical studies of phenomenological properties shown to correlate with generalization. The first two articles presented in these thesis contribute to this line of work. They highlight and discuss mechanisms that allow large models to prioritize learning `simple' functions during training and to adapt their capacity to the complexity of the problem. The third article of this thesis addresses the long standing problem of estimating mutual information in high dimension, by leveraging the scalability of neural networks. It introduces and studies a new class of estimators and present several applications in unsupervised learning, especially on enhancing generative models.

Nature Experiences and Education for Sustainability in Physical Education and Teacher Education : Environmental Identities of PE Teachers in Sweden and Switzerland

Jacot, Valerie January 2023 (has links)
Sport, as a human activity, contributes to the changes happening in the natural environment, making the sport sector a responsible actor for sustainable development. Experiences in nature can raise awareness about our natural environment and possibly influence pro-environmental behaviour and our identities. Such nature experiences can be reached in schools with teachers as implementers and role models. Swedish schools for example, have a concept called friluftsliv, which introduces children to outdoor experiences as part of Physical Education (PE). In Switzerland, a similar country to Sweden in many aspects, such a concept is non-existent. Thus, this study aims to observe possible differences and similarities between environmental identities of PE teachers in Sweden and Switzerland, how those developed and manifest today.  Primary and secondary school PE teachers from Switzerland and Sweden were asked to draw nature and were interviewed individually as well as in separate group discussions. The model of Education for Sustainability, Transformative Learning Theory, and Identity Theory serve as the theoretical framework of this work. The results show that there are many individual differences in how the PE teachers’ environmental identities manifest. Some see nature as a platform for activities, some deeply care for it, some seek interactions with it or even perceive themselves as a part of the natural world. When it comes to Swiss participants, main influences on their environmental identity were identified before Physical Education teacher education (PETE) through sport-related activities with their family, in associations or their leisure time, whereas the Swedish experiences were more sport-unrelated, connected to family experiences and as part of PETE. I conclude, according to the model of Education for Sustainability, that there were less transformative learning effects and therefore less behavioural change achieved in Swiss PETE than in Swedish PETE. The main difference was the amount of reflection about said nature experiences, which was more present in the Swedish context. Incorporating this reflective aspect into PE curricula could be an approach to increase this reflective aspect, in Switzerland as well as in Sweden.

Portraits of Participation : An interview study on the effects of social learning theory mechanisms on political participation

Olsson, Jakob January 2023 (has links)
If democratic society is to avert the dire straits that may come from decreasing levels of political participation and civic engagement, all potential explanatory factors must be explored. The purpose of this paper is to i) elucidate how the modeling and self-efficacy mechanisms of social learning theory affect individuals’ decisions to participate politically or not, and ii) assess the applicability of the relatively unutilized social learning theory in studies on political socialization and participation, respectively. By conducting a study composed of life history interviews, the paper aims to contribute to the research field by providing new explanations on how and why participatory behavior occurs in individuals, potentially filling a research gap by using and developing the previously unutilized social learning theory. The study finds that the proposed social learning theory mechanisms appear to have some explanatory power in the context of individuals’ political participation and asserts that social learning theory may very well be applicable in similar future studies as a complement to other explanatory factors.
