整合性製造管理資訊系統開發之研究

本論文旨在探討以產品資料標準格式及資訊技術與工具,發展資訊整合模式,其目標是連結電腦輔助設計與電腦輔助製造功能,並結合產品資料管理共用資料庫及型態管理作業,達到同步管理,以實現同步工程作業。資訊整合使自研發、設計、製程規劃、及製造之電腦輔助作業的資料得以連結及共用,形成共通性資訊作業環境,有效提昇產品開發與製造之同步流程管理。為達此一目的,必須以符合國際產品資料表示與交換標準定義整合運作系統所使用的產品共通性資料,以利在電子化環境下,企業體內之上下游廠商可透過此標準定義配合網際網路技術,分享彼此產品資料管理系統中的產品資料,降低資料交換的誤差,並加速產品資料交換的速度。本研究以探討XML及STEP為基礎,首先分析產品生命週期管理之資訊需求,就設計、製程規劃、及製造管理之不同系統,釐清資料管理之資料表達規範,其次以IDEF方法進行產品資料管理之流程分析,並以Zachman資訊系統基礎架構框架各觀點進行資訊需求及架構分析,最後以國防工業體系之中心工廠為例,進行個案實証研究探討資料整合模式與流程分析之可行方法。 研究結果發現,提出三點建議供企業實行資訊整合之參考: 一、 企業流程再造BPR是工作流程、組織結構、資訊技術及工作內容等之合理化與重新設計,使績效大幅改善。 二、 雖有大量投資,但整合後系統的顧客價值不一定增加,例如:業務模式無法吸引更多的客戶時,系統整合後的價值也不一定增加。電腦系統整合的困難度應有企業內充分且全面性溝通的時間。 三、 將所有的資訊應用建置於同一超級資訊平台上作業,很難做到。分散式應用程式讓企業在建置資訊系統時不論在採購上或建置上都更為彈性,企業可依需要不斷的擴充系統,而不需在初期即一次購足。資訊服務網(Web Services)的發展促使企業應用整合EAI技術能滿足此一需求。 本研究係以應用於國防工業體系之中心工廠整合性製造管理資訊系統發展模式為例,國防工業是軍公民營企業合作發展模式,其具有穩定、不易外移、及能帶動相關產業發展之特性,相關產業的資訊整合均面對類似的問題。期能藉由本研究之結果,提供企業進行資訊整合時之參考,使其產品資料能於電子化環境中即時而正確地共用與分享。 / In today’s economy, product lifecycle has been significantly shortened. All manufactures are faced with the challenge of making high quality products within a short product introduction time while reducing costs as low as possible. Product lifecycle management (PLM)is an emerging solution and information integration is a core to address this challenge. Without an efficient methodology to integrate data and processes, PLM would be impossible. This research explores thus the methodology and IT requirement for the integrated product manufacturing information management system, with the following research goals: 1. To investigate the methodology needed by manufacturing companies to implement the integrated product manufacturing information management system to achieve PLM. 2. To investigate the information integration framework for the integrated product manufacturing information management system. Based on analytic method originated from Zachman Framework, this research conducted a case study on a defense industry. The core of this case study is to identify the Framework provides a means for organizing the models of Enterprise Applications Integration (EAI) into useful categories. Model is composed of multiple modeling methods integrated in a way that is sufficient to describe the system. The main models are: (1). Information models for the representation of product data are being developed as an international standard (ISO 10303) informally called STEP. STEP (STandard for the Exchange of Product model data) is designed to enable the exchange of product data between heterogeneous computer systems used throughout the product life cycle. (2). A neutral model of engineering and management data, developed based on the eXtensible Markup Language (XML), can be a standard interchangeable information representation for manufacturing information integration in PLM, and is developed in this research. (3). During several of the BPR steps, the critical process pieces are identified and designed together using IDEF Models. A last, with respect to enterprise information technology integration, this research comes to the conclusions as follows: 1. The primary goal of a BPR effort is to document the current and future business process and to ensure stakeholder buy-in and support. 2. Enterprise information integration is still relatively new, and its best practices are not fully disseminated, which helps to explain why Zachman Framework and analysis tools are important. 3. Since the structure of the data changes too rapidly, integration at the physical source level does not work. Web Services provide a distributed computing technology for revealing the business services of applications on the Internet or intranet using standard XML protocols and formats. It enables EAI to be an ongoing process of creating a flexible, standardized enterprise infrastructure that allows new IT-based applications and business processes to be easily and efficiently deployed.

In this sense, the research emphasized the importance of understanding the best practices in Information Technology (IT) and the trade scenario of solutions using shopfloor real data in virtual environments for simulation and many achieved benefits. The highlights of this research focused on exploring the collaboration (practice of skills for the achievement of mutually beneficial results) between the MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and the digital manufacturing systems (also called virtual manufacturing systems) of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), in a scenario where the manufacturing processes require high flexibility, reliability and lower delivery times, extensive combination of variants and lower life-cycle of products. The research - in an exploratory and descriptive way, which identified the available knowledge on the subject more sharply between the years 2006 and 2010 - was grounded in the practices of world-renowned companies and institutions and considered opinions and evaluations of renowned researchers and professionals with expertise in initiatives to support the use of MES solutions data in systems of digital manufacturing of PLM to manufacturing processes planning. As a result of the studied scenarios and covered concepts, the research has consolidated a "diagram of information collaboration", with the aim of providing better decision choices within the framework of shop-floor project, processes planning and production management. The research also concluded that the MES systems may have their value extended if integrated within the characteristics of functionalities of the PLM concept. It also brought some recommendations and limitations on the portability of information, commented on the learned lessons and suggestions for future tasks that include the BPM (Business Process Management). / Uma condição necessária para a eficiência econômica das fábricas modernas é a habilidade de adequar - de forma mais rápida e melhor possível - o desempenho dos processos de manufatura às decisões de solicitação de demanda. Nesse sentido, ressaltou-se a importância de compreender as melhores práticas de Tecnologia da Informação (TI) e o cenário comercial de soluções que utilizam dados reais de chão-de-fábrica em ambientes virtuais de simulação e os vários benefícios obtidos. O destaque desta pesquisa ficou por conta de explorar a colaboração (prática de competências para a obtenção de resultados mutuamente vantajosos) entre os sistemas MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) e os sistemas de manufatura digital (também chamada fábrica virtual) do PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), num cenário onde os processos de manufatura impõem alta flexibilidade, confiança e menores tempos de entrega, ampla combinação de variantes e menores ciclos de vida de produtos. A pesquisa - de forma exploratória e descritiva, que identificou o conhecimento disponível sobre o tema mais acentuadamente entre os anos de 2006 e 2010 - foi embasada nas práticas de instituições e empresas mundialmente reconhecidas, e considerou opiniões e avaliações de profissionais e pesquisadores renomados nas iniciativas que apóiam a utilização de dados das soluções MES em sistemas de manufatura digital do PLM para o planejamento de processos de manufatura. Como resultado dos cenários estudados e conceitos abordados, a pesquisa consolidou um diagrama de colaboração da informação , com o propósito de auxiliar melhores tomadas de decisão no âmbito do projeto de chão-de-fábrica, planejamento de processos e gerência da produção. A pesquisa ainda concluiu quanto os sistemas MES podem ter seu valor ampliado se integrados dentro das características de funcionalidades do conceito PLM, trouxe algumas recomendações e limitações sobre a portabilidade das informações, comentou sobre as lições aprendidas e apresentou sugestões de trabalhos futuros que inclui o gerenciamento de processos de negócios BPM (Business Process Management).

The purpose of this paper was to investigate the integration between Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Computer-Aided Design (CAD). The project has been carried out as a degree project at Karlstad University in the spring of 2023 on behalf of the company TECHNIA. The project was a master's thesis of 22.5 higher education credits for the higher education engineering program in Innovation Technology and Design. The project has been structured to achieve the purpose and goals of the assignment. The work consisted of investigating the capacity and user-friendliness of an integrated LCA and CAD system by using literature as support and investigating and analysing the system and performing case studies. To achieve the purpose and goal, Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE has been used as support. The issue of sustainability today has great weight, and companies increasingly choose sustainable solutions, which is partly due to pressure from external stakeholders. This project highlights the most important trends in sustainability. It is an attractive factor on the market which is relevant for all types of industries. Surveys have also been carried out to map facts about the LCA and CAD integration. Through theoretical investigations, a comprehensive understanding of the integration between LCA and CAD as well as its importance for sustainable development has been highlighted. The case studies carried out were conducted as interviews at two companies, EDAG and Mölnlycke Health Care, where the interviews were crucial in creating an approach to the use of an integrated system. Use of the integrated system then contributed to a deeper understanding of the functions. By combining the methods used, the project was able to meet its goals. The methods generated results describing advantages, disadvantages, practices, tools, and approaches when using integrated LCA and CAD. The conclusion is that an integration between LCA and CAD has many advantages compared to a traditional LCA tool. An integrated system is more efficient and easier to use. / Uppsatsens ändamål var att undersöka integrationen mellan livscykelanalys (LCA) och datorstödd design (CAD). Projektet har genomförts som ett examensarbete vid Karlstads Universitet under våren 2023 på uppdrag av företaget TECHNIA. Projektet som genomfördes var en kandidatuppsats om 22,5 högskolepoäng för programmet högskoleingenjörsprogrammet i Innovationsteknik och Design. Projektet har varit uppbyggt för att uppnå syftet samt målen för uppdraget. Kortfattat gick arbetet ut på att undersöka kapaciteten och användarvänligheten med ett integrerat LCA och CAD system genom att använda litteratur som stöd, undersöka och analysera systemet samt att utföra fallstudier. För att uppnå syftet och målet har Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE användes som stöd. Hållbarhetsfrågan i dagens samhälle har stor vikt och företag väljer alltmer hållbara lösningar, som delvis beror på press från externa intressenter. Projektet belyser de viktigaste trenderna inom hållbarhet och att det är en attraktiv faktor på marknaden som är relevant för alla typer av industrier. Undersökningar har också genomförts för att kartlägga fakta om LCA och CAD integrationen. Genom teoretiska undersökningar har omfattande förståelse av integrationen mellan LCA och CAD samt dess betydelse för hållbar utveckling belysts i examensarbetet. Fallstudierna som utfördes gjordes som intervjuer på två företag, EDAG och Mölnlycke Health Care, där intervjuerna var avgörande för att skapa ett tillvägagångssätt för användning av systemet. Användning av det integrerade systemet bidrog sedan till en djupare förståelse för funktionerna. Genom att kombinera de använda metoderna kunde projektet uppfylla sina mål. Metoderna genererade resultat som beskriver fördelar, nackdelar, praxis, verktyg samt tillvägagångssätt vid användning av integrerad LCA och CAD. Slutsatsen är att ett integration mellan LCA och CAD har många fördelar i jämförelse med ett traditionellt LCA-verktyg. Ett integrerat system är mer effektivt och enklare att använda.

The production of a lyotropic liquid crystal coated powder precursor through twin screw extrusion.

The twin screw extrusion technique has been explored to produce lyotropic liquid crystal coated powder precursor by exploiting Pluronic F127 thermoreversible gelation property to get powder precursor without granular aggregates or with less compacted granular aggregates. The highly soluble chlorpheniramine maleate loaded in Pluronic F127 solution coated MCC particles prepared through twin screw extrusion was examined to produce the cubic phase (gel) for the development of controlled release formulation and for coating of very fine particles which cannot be achieved by traditional bead coaters. Controlled release formulations are beneficial in reducing the frequency of administration of highly soluble drugs having short half life and also to address the problem of polypharmacy in old age patients by reduction of dosage frequency. An unusual refrigerated temperature (5 C) profile for twin screw extrusion was selected based on the complex viscoelastic flow behaviour of Pluronic F127 solution which was found to be highly temperature sensitive. The Pluronic F127 solution was found to be Newtonian in flow and less viscoelastic at low temperature, such that low temperature (5 C) conditions were found to be suitable for mixing and coating the MCC particles to avoid compacted aggregates. At higher temperatures (35-40 C) Pluronic F127 solution exhibited shear thinning and prominent viscoelasticity, properties which were exploited to force CPM containing Pluronic F127 solution to stick over the MCC surface. This was achieved by elevating the temperature of the last zone of the extrusion barrel. It was found that to avoid compacted aggregates the MCC must be five times the weight of the Pluronic F127 solution and processed at a screw speed of 400 RPM or above at refrigerated temperature. Processing was not found to be smooth at ambient temperature with frictional heat and high torque generation due to significant compaction of coated particles which can be attributed to the elastic behaviour of Pluronic F127 solution at temperatures between ambient to typical body temperature. PLM images confirmed the cubic phase formation (gel) by Pluronic F127 coating which was found to be thick with maximum Pluronic F127 concentration (25%). SEM images showed smoothing of surface topography, and stretching and elongation of MCC fibres after extrusion which is indicative of coating through extrusion processing. Plastic deformation was observed for the lower Pluronic F127 concentration and higher MCC proportions. There was a significant decrease in work done for cohesion by the powder flow analyser observed in the batches with more aggregates compared with batches with least aggregates. A regression analysis study on factorial design batches was conducted to investigate the significant independent variables and their impact on dependent variables for example % torque, geometric mean diameter and work done for cohesion, and to quantitatively evaluate them. From the regression analysis data it was found that the coefficient of determination for all three dependent variables was in the range of 55-62%. The pharmaceutical performance of the prepared coated LLC precursor through twin screw extrusion in terms of controlled release was found to be very disappointing. Almost 100% chlorpheniramine maleate was released within 10-15mins, defined as providing burst release. The MDSC method was developed within this work to detect Pluronic F127 solution cubic phase formation. The MDSC method was developed to consider sample size, effect of heating and cooling, sample heat capacity, and the parameters for highest sensitivity which can be followed by sample accurately without the phase lag to produce accurate repeatable results.

This thesis looks at two sides of the same coin: how to support the production and future development at a specialist medical technology department at Danderyd Hospital. The two sides are; a pilot study of a product management system (PDM) and an interview based study on the characteristics of the silent knowledge of the technicians. The department (National respiratory centre, NRC) is facing retirement of several key employees. The technical study shows that the success of an implementation is largely dependent on the users’ prior knowledge and use of a 3D Computer aided design system (CAD).The system itself is shown to fulfill the Lifecycle requirement of tracking the products (mostly tracheostomy tubes) but without a CAD centered workflow, some substantial education and preferably some new recruits, an implementation of the PDM system will fail. The author recommends development of the current “low-tech” system of MS Excel and Access rather than redistribute the dependency from technician towards a complex, commercial software and its vendor. The analysis of the technicians’ silent knowledge with the newly developed method, epithet for silent knowledge (ETK), shows that the longer employment time: the more differentiated technicians become in describing their work, practical knowledge are regarded higher and the social and collective problem solving factors of the work becomes more important. Typically, it is shown that a new employee should preferably enjoy problem solving, being pragmatic and social as well as having some prior education or work experience in a CAD and/or a PDM system.

Parametric CAD Modeling to aid Simulation-Driven Design : An evaluation and improvement of methods used at Scania

This report documents a thesis conducted at Scania CV AB in Södertälje, Sweden. The main purpose of the thesis has been to examine and improve upon current practices of parametric CAD-modeling at Scania, with the ultimate goal of increased design automation and simulation-driven design. The thesis was initiated with a literature study, mainly covering the fields of parametric CAD-modeling, design automation and knowledge-based engineering. Furthermore, a questionnaire and multiple interviews were conducted to assess the awareness and mind-set of the employees. Finally, a case-study was carried out to follow current methodologies, and address any deficiencies found. Some of the most important findings were that while parametric modeling has considerable potential in enabling design automation, it is crucial, and most beneficial in terms of automation efficiency, to start with the fundamentals, namely achieving a uniform modeling practice. With these findings, a new proposed methodology has been introduced, as well as a recommended plan for a widespread implementation of parametric modeling at Scania. Such implementation would allow for shorter lead-times, faster adaptation to changing conditions, and reduced development expenditures.

In their attempt to maintain its competitive edge in world market, Taiwan electronics and IT companies escalated their research and development ability on enterprise products. Creating values through consistent innovative product design is one key factor by which Taiwan electronic and IT industry players compete in the world market. In its economic development, Taiwan electronics enterprises thrived in product upgrading and business transformation. They moved away from assembly production or OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) businesses, and move toward ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) and OBM (Own Brand Manufacturing). Improved research and product design capability became their competitive edge in the global market, allowing them not only to survive amongst the cutthroat competition, but also to play a key role in global collaborative markets. It is the common focus of Taiwanese IT companies to keep ahead of global competition by delivering cost effective, quality, feature rich products in the shortest lead time. In face of the increasing competitive the global market today, Taiwanese electronics manufacturing companies bolster their strength by migrating from OEM to ODM businesses, and vertically integrating satellite companies in China, fully leveraging China's cheap labor and low cost resources. This collaborative production and business model, combining the core competence of all industries from both camps, brings out a new creative and powerful force. If this collaborative production and business model can be built on the economic and trade networks across the strait, then, Taiwanese enterprises can effectively integrate all its operational information in the same platform, linking up intelligence databases and interactive, real time communication. As a result, Taiwanese industries can shorten a great deal of product development lead time and reduce communication costs. This brings Taiwan further ahead in global competition. This research aims to layout the groundwork for Taiwanese enterprises to expand from collaborative production to functional collaborations, including R&D, operating, manufacturing, sales and marketing, by analyzing the current workflow management through case study of PLM implementation. This research results shall be supported by the following coverage: 1)Observation on system implementation and progress of PLM. 2)Purpose and expectation of Taiwanese enterprises in implementing PLM (product life cycle management). 3)Current functions of Taiwan electronic companies’ in house R&D units and external cooperative partners. 4)Bottlenecks in managing in house R&D, their activities and their cooperation with external engineering teams. 5)The role of Critical Success Factor (CSF) in the implementation of PLM. 5) Activities of internal design functional units collaborating with alliances, both vendors and customers, utilizing collaborative information service platform to effectively integrate a wide range of cross the strait operations, and linkage of interactive communication channels and sharing of real time knowledgebase database. 6) Analyze the enterprise’s tactics, the operations, the managements, the organization and Information technology aspect to improve their RD workflow management superiority item by item.
