Modersmålsstödjare - eller hur var det nu? : En studie om studiehandledarens roll i skolans verksamhet / Study counselor or how was it now again? : An essay about study counselors

Brash, Jonathan January 2017 (has links)
My purpose with this study is to highlight study counselors and the role they maintain in different schools. How do they work on a daily basis? Which instructions do they receive from their superiors? What are their thoughts on how their work is organized and structured? To create reliable answers my theoretical approach is based on how the study counselors see themselves as part of schools and their organizations. The study is based on interviews with several study counselors where mindmaps were created to make the answers more direct and concrete.  The findings showed somewhat different experiences which created an interesting narrative to build upon. The results also indicated the many different challenges we all face when it comes to both organizing and structuring the work of study counselors. Perhaps more importantly the finding gave a clear insight about the major importance of study counselors and their key role in creating an equal society which treats everyone equally and creates the same opportunities for every pupil to reach their full potenial. Something we all should aim towards due to the many benefits which comes with it.

The educational function of social work supervision in the Department of Health and Welfare in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province

Mbau, Matamela Freddy 30 January 2006 (has links)
The main purpose of this study is to explore and gain insight into the nature, extent and characteristics of educational supervision as implemented in the Department of Health and Welfare in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province. Objectives of the study were to conceptualise social work supervision with a specific focus on the educational function; to investigate the nature, extent, and characteristics of the educational function of supervision in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province and finally to make recommendations regarding educational supervision in the Department of Health and Welfare in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province. The study was guided by a research question which was formulated as follows: What is the nature, extent and characteristics of the educational function of supervision in the Department of Health and Welfare in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province? Therefore, this study was conducted to provide answers to this research question. Quantitative research approach was used in this study, since the researcher explored and described the nature, extent and characteristics of the educational function of supervision statistically. This research is applied in nature because it focuses on a practical problem (educational supervision) in the social work practice (Department of Health and Welfare in Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province) and the findings will be utilized to solve social work supervision problems in the particular District. A randomised cross-sectional quantitative research design was used, because the researcher investigated social work educational supervision in the Department of Health and Welfare in the Vhembe district of the Limpopo Province using a group administered questionnaire as data collection method. The population for this study was composed of social workers from the Department of Health and Welfare in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province. Forty- two social workers (senior and junior social workers) completed a questionnaire during a Vhembe District social workers staff meeting. Those completed questionnaires were collected immediately. Data were analysed statistically through Microsoft excel programme. Tables and Figures were used to illustrate some of the answers. From a literature study it was concluded that the educational function of supervision is the most important function of social work supervision. It plays a vital role in providing social workers with social work knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for delivering qualitative, effective and efficient social work services. Educational supervision gives social workers autonomy to function independently. The study revealed that there are problems regarding the implementation of the educational function of social work supervision in the Department of Health and Welfare in the Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province. The findings proved that some of the social workers do not receive educational supervision and there is no uniformity in implementing this function of supervision. The findings also revealed a obvious knowledge gap regarding social work supervision among social workers in the District. / Dissertation (MSD (Social Work Management))--University of Pretoria, 2007. / Social Work and Criminology / unrestricted

Pedagogical supervisor in preschool - why, how and for whom?

Empell, Susan January 2021 (has links)
This qualitative interview study is conducted in a preschool organization. The research aim is to contribute with knowledge about pedagogical supervisors, a professional role which is beginning to take shape outside the traditional organizational form that exists in preschool. In this study a new role, the pedagogical supervisor, has been implemented as a support function in the preschool organization. The aim of the study is to increase understanding of how management, pedagogues and pedagogical supervisors are reasoning about school development processes. The specified research questions of the study are:  - How do employees in preschool organisations interpret and understand the role and the mission of pedagogical supervisors? - What structural obstacles and opportunities exists - partly in the assignment as pedagogical supervisor, partly in a preschool organization? The theoretical framework which is used to interpret and understand the empirical data is Lundquist (1987) implementation theory. To widen the perspective from the individual to the organization Ahrenfelt (2019) system theory has been supportive. The results of the study indicates that actors in a preschool organization are searching for clarity in the assignments of different professional roles in preschool. The results also indicates that the organizational positioning of a pedagogical supervisor may have an impact on how the assignment is performed. The organizational perspective shows that information platforms are important not only to create clarity in the assignments, but also to create understanding of how the image of an organization can be built up. The study includes a discussion about how the time perspective becomes an aspect of the process. Breaking cultural patterns can take time. It is also important that the actors in the process are aware that there are two parallel processes going on in a organizational transformation, the managements process and the organizationalprocess. The transparency between these processes are also implicated as an aspect in this study. In summary, the results of this study indicates that implementation of the employment can be a problem, as preschool organizational systems can be firmly rooted in traditional cultural patterns, which are difficult to change. The implication is to look beyond the traditional views of how organizations are constructed, because they can be obstacles in the process.

När kameleonten möter dronten : Om handledarrollen vid grupphandledning av yrkesverksamma inom människohjälpande yrken / An encounter between the Chameleon and the Dodo : On the supervisory role in clinical group supervision of professionals within the helping professions

Brandberg Grage, Anna Maria January 2016 (has links)

Grehn, Emma, Vikström, Frida January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine how supervisors within individual and family care handle the area for burnout among social workers. The study also examined supervisors view on the psychosocial environment and its significance for burn-out. In this qualitative study, interviews were conducted with 7 professionals supervisor. The result show that supervisors within individual and family care have experience of burn-out among social workers. All informants point out that the occurrence of burn-out looks different for different individuals who are affected. The result also show, based on the informant’s responses, that the psychosocial work environment in the workplace has a connection with the mental illness of the employee and that in combination with each other, affect the individual's well-being. The majority of informants illustrate various challenges regarding these areas, including privacy life versus professional life in the occurrence of burn-out. The result of the study show that there is a need for more research on the subject.

The relationship between perceived talent management practices, perceived organizational support (POS), perceived supervisor support (PSS) and intention to quit amongst Generation Y employees in the recruitment sector

Du Plessis, Liesl 22 April 2013 (has links)
Orientation: Perceived Talent Management Practices, Perceived Organizational Support and Perceived Supervisor Support are distinct but related constructs, and all of them appear to influence an employee’s intention to quit an organization. Research Purpose – The objective of this study was to investigate Generation Y’s perception of an organization’s talent management practices and to determine how it relates to their intention to quit the organization. In essence, the study aims to establish possible relationships of four constructs: Perceived Talent Management Practices, Perceived Organizational Support (POS), Perceived Supervisor Support (PSS) and Intention to Quit. The mediating/moderating characteristics of POS and PSS on the relationship between Perceived Talent Management Practices and Intention to Quit are also investigated. Motivation for the study – Talent is the new tipping point in corporate success. It has the potential to be the origin of an organisation’s demise or the reason for its continuous success. A concept that exuberates this much potential for both disaster and prosperity validates some examination into its protection. Research design, approach and method – Four Instruments (HCI Assessment of Talent Practices (HCI), Survey of Perceived Organizational Support (SPOS), Survey of Perceived Supervisor Support and an Intention to Quit Scale) was administered to a convenience sample of 135 employees from a population of 450 employees working in three provinces in which the organization was operational. Pearson product-moment correlation analysis and Multiple Regression analysis were used to investigate the structure of the integrated conceptual model on Perceived Talent Management Practices, POS, PSS and Intention to Quit. Main findings - The findings of this study indicates a strong practically significant positive correlation (r(df = 135; p < 0.001) = 0.724, large effect). between Perceived Organizational Support (POS) and Perceived Supervisor Support (PSS). A strong practically significant positive relationship (r(df = 135; p < 0.001) = 0.640, large effect) was found between Perceived Organizational Support (POS) and the employee’s perception of the organization’s Talent Practices. The study confirmed a strong practically significant negative relationship (r(df = 135; p < 0.001) =-0.569, large effect) between Perceived Organizational Support (POS) and the employee’s Intention to Quit. A medium practically significant negative relationship (r(df = 135; p < 0.001) = -0.436, medium effect) was established between Intention to Quit and Perceived Supervisor Support (PSS). This study determined a medium practically significant positive correlation (r(df = 135; p < 0.001) = 0.471, medium effect) between Perceived Supervisor Support (PSS) and the employee’s perception of the organization’s Talent Practices. The findings also establishes a medium practically significant negative relationship (r(df = 135; p < 0.001) = -0.477, medium effect) exists between employees’ perception of the organization’s Talent Practices and their intention to quit the organization. Multiple regression confirmed that neither POS nor PSS mediates/moderates the relationship between Perceived Talent Management Practices and Intention to Quit. Practical/Managerial Implications - Cappelli (2008) stated that paradigms only come undone when they ”encounter problems that they cannot address. But before the old paradigm is overthrown, there must be an alternative, one that describes new developments better than the old one does” (Cappelli, 2008). This study provides evidence that management can use paradigm shifts as a talent retention strategy where the creation of a high perception of talent management practices will result in a lower intent to leave the organization. Contribution: The findings of this study indicate a positive relationship between perceived talent management practices, POS and PSS. The study also established a positive relationship between POS and PSS. A negative relationship was confirmed between POS, PSS and Perceived Talent Management Practices in relation to Intention to Quit. / Dissertation (MCom)--University of Pretoria, 2010. / Human Resource Management / unrestricted

Larson, Josefina, Örtevall, Maria January 2020 (has links)
There are few studies done based on the supervisor's experience of introducing new employees.
