This study proposes an analysis of Giroflê, Giroflá, work of the writer from Minas Gerais Cosette de Alencar, published in 1971. At first it seeks to situate the position occupied by the writer, as a woman in society. For this end, we present some notes on women's critical about the literary production and then a mapping of female intellectual production of the 1960s and 1970s in the city of Juiz de Fora. In a second step we seek to provide a narrative structure from concepts present in authors like Afrânio Coutinho (1976) and James Wood (2012), defining the elements: plot, time, place and characters present in Giroflê, Giroflá. Supported this work, among others, theorists like Virginia Woolf, Simone de Beauvoir, Elisabeth Badinter, Heloisa Buarque de Hollanda, Nelly Richards and Regina Dalcastagnè. The research was conducted with bibliographical search starting from articles, books, theses and dissertations related to the writer Cosette de Alencar and her novel in question, as well as consulting the Alencar family collection, duly deposited at the Art Museum Murilo Mendes - MAMM and the chronics of the writer published by Diário Mercantil that are in the custody of Juiz de Fora Historical Archives. Starting from the structural analysis of the romance as well as the context of its production and the place of enunciation filled by Cosette de Alencar, is intended to highlight the importance of her production to the literature from Minas Gerais and Brazil, as well as propose different views for analysis of her work not covered so far.

[en] COMMUNICATION OF LUXURY, FASHION AND CONSUMPTION: PORTRAYALS OF TRADITION AMIDST CONTEMPORARY CULTURE / [pt] COMUNICAÇÃO DO LUXO, MODA E CONSUMO: REPRESENTAÇÕES DA TRADIÇÃO NA CULTURA CONTEMPORÂNEA

MARIA AMARAL DE ANDRADE 05 September 2008 (has links)
[en] The objective of this research is to provoke new scholarly debate as it relates to the communication and the consumption of luxury goods. Parting from the analysis concerning key configurations on the uses of speeches and narratives of a group of native informers -producers and consumers of luxury goods -, it is intended to investigate a set of representations and social relationships revealed inside of a contemporary imaginary which defines the ideal standards of goodtaste, beauty and success. Understanding that the consumption of luxury goods is a process that classifies and categorizes its users collectively; it has launched a look onto the production of hierarchies, meanings and subjectivity within the realm of mass culture and the media`s appropriations pertaining to the luxury universe. Distinction, power, and prestige appear as central notions to the construction of this paradigm which perpetuates itself by contemplating social order as it confers airs of aesthetic renewal and continuous updating to the sense of tradition.

Alcoolisme au féminin, maternité et processus de différenciation : une étude à partir de la prise en charge de mères de plus de cinquante ans lors du départ de leur enfant du foyer / Female alcoholism, motherhood and process of differentiation : a study from the care and management of 50 year-old women as their child leave the family home

Guiguet-Boulogne, Lydie 26 January 2016 (has links)
Certain alcoholic women consult for their drinking problem when their children, old teenagers or young adults, take their independence. Thus they question a problem of dependence - their dependence on one product - when their children achieve their independence. The general hypothesis of this research is that for alcoholic women, the separation with the children leaving the family home would reactivate the issues of separation-individuation also implied in alcohol addiction. The concomitance of their desire to stop alcohol and their need for help to part from their children would be due to a self undifferentiated, consequence of the process of separation-individuation hindered prematurely. The self of the alcoholic woman is a self little differentiated from her family of origin, one "family self" instead of an individualself, which revives itself into the current family. The method of this research is based on the analysis of three clinical cases stemming of many years care in addictology, free drawings of the family tree, data of a hospital research and some literary material. A first axis of analysis concerns the type of relations whom the alcoholic woman has with her parents, with her spouse and with her children. The second axis studies the function of alcohol consumption for the alcoholic mother in the issue of separation-individuation. The third axis analyzes the expression of one "family self" in the patient, instead of an individual self. This study shows the different aspects which the "family self" in alcoholic women as their children leave then family home can take, and the benefit of the family approach when a mother suffers from alcoholism. The results of this research highlight the undifferentiated aspect of the self of the alcoholic mothers, who aims towards a slow differentiation, and towards an emergence of a feminine position.

Deconstructing Sleeping Beauty : Angela Carter and Écriture Feminine

Karjalainen, Anette January 2010 (has links)
When attempting to convey certain political or ideological agendas in literary texts maintaining specific writing strategies can work as a useful tool. From a feminist perspective the use of écriture feminine as a means of undermining patriarchy has been largely neglected as well as misunderstood by many feminists. However, as argued in this essay, écriture feminine is not only a useful tool for pursuing a feminist agenda, but is also something that needs to be discussed due to the many misunderstandings of it. Resting on the theoretical perspectives of Judith Butler, Hélène Cixous, Antonio Gramsci, Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick and Richard Slotkin this essay investigates Angela Carter’s short story “The Lady of the House of Love” in relation to écriture feminine by exploring how the text rejects patriarchy and its idea of the gender binary. In this short story Carter re-works the classic Sleeping Beauty fairy tale and provides us with a feminist’s version of it. The main thesis of this essay is therefore that Carter challenges the gender binary by de-victimizing “woman” and by engaging in a style of writing that overturns western culture’s definitions of “woman” Carter provides a version of Sleeping Beauty that radically differs from the hegemonic/patriarchal versions.

Fridare, Christina January 2017 (has links)
Several feminist interpreters have noted that Emmanuel Levinas uses the word feminine in a way that might create confusion. In a first reading, it seems that he denotes women. He describes them as silent, mysterious and without being part of the ethical relation. But in a deeper study, the use of the feminine appears more as a description of a phenomenon of feelings or possibly a metaphor. The purpose of this essay is to study Emmanuel Levinas’ concept of the feminine. This study also has a clear feminist perspective. As a main critic, I have chosen the feminist-Jewish philosopher Claire Elise Katz. Her main argument is that the interpretation and understanding of Levinas’ philosophy must be done in the light of the Jewish tradition. She also interprets Levinas' the feminine in a dualistic way, like real women and as metaphors. In my study, I criticize her argument that the Jewish inheritance would be decisive. I argue that the feminine as absolute alterality is possible for all religions in phenomenological sense, not only for the Jewish tradition.

AS TRANSFORMAÇÕES RECENTES NO MUNDO DO TRABALHO E SEUS EFEITOS SOBRE AS MULHERES TRABALHADORAS LATINO-AMERICANAS / THE RECENT TRANSFORMATIONS IN THE WORLD OF THE WORK AND THEIR EFFECTS ON THE WOMEN HARDWORKING LATIN-AMERICANS

Silva, Juliana Franchi da 29 December 2006 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / In this work he tried to understand the effects on the women hard-working Latin-Americans of the recent transformations happened in the world of the work. For so much, the analysis begins with the introduction of the feminine work starting from to industrial revolution, what brought consequences for every working class, in matter, for the women hard-working Latin-Americans that continue being explored and subdued by the capital. For her attainment the inductive and descriptive method was used in order to make possible the understanding of the bibliographical works that they based the investigation. This way, the research intended to do a rescue and a reflection of the conjuncture concerning the elements that favor the feminine insert in the world of the work and at the same time, it tried to observe the impediments that took it for a precarization of his workforce. Demonstrating like this, that in spite of the woman to have destroyed the old image of the traditional society, with the woman in her wife role, mother, administrator of the home, the children's educator, the feminine disadvantage still persists, therefore the woman still an unequal being is considered in the contemporary society. However, in spite of all of the difficulties faced by the woman, it is unquestionable that the incorporation of the same in the job market should be valued and fomented, therefore it is an important one aid for a larger economic growth, social and political of the nations.

Writing the aerial dancing body a preliminary choreological investigation of the aesthetics and kinetics of the aerial dancing body

Acker, Shaun Albert January 2010 (has links)
This mini-thesis investigates some of the nineteenth century socio-cultural ideals that have structured a connection between virtuosic aerial skill and bodily aesthetics. It views the emergence of a style of aerial kineticism that is structured from the gender ideologies of the period. It investigates the continual recurrence of this nineteenth century style amongst contemporary aerial dance works and outlines the possible frictions between this Victorian style of kineticism and contemporary aerial explorations. From this observation, a possible catalyst may be observed with which to relocate and inspire a study of aerial kinetics sans the nineteenth century aesthetic component. This kinesiological catalyst may be viewed in conjunction with the theories of ground-based kinetic theorist, Rudolph Laban’s choreutic study of the body in space. Thus, it may be possible to suggest and introduce a possible practical dance scholarship for aerial dance. This mini-thesis includes an introductory choreological investigation that draws on and integrates the disciplines of kinesiology; choreutic theory; existing aerial kinetic technique; musicology; and the physical sciences.

La perversion féminine : la femme existe? / The feminine perversion : the woman exists?

Derouiche, Kaouther 25 November 2013 (has links)
This work concerns on one hand the interrogation on the existence of the even non-existent feminine, extremely rare perversion according to the fundamental papers of the psychoanalysis, and somewhere else on the exploration of the dynamics appropriate(peculiar) to the perverse assembly(editing) in the feminine. If the woman who is situated near(on the side of) love brought Lacan expressed the famous maxim, that of the woman do not exist, because she " is not quite " and because the woman spells only blocked, the perverse woman will turn out to be to the woman(wife). Therefore, the perverse woman advocates the existence of the woman and her possible writing. The perverse assembly(editing) of the perverse woman scoffs at the law of the difference of the sexes by ending in an exaggerated forgery of the formulae of her(it) So, it is about a perversion feminine as imposture. Indeed, the perverse imposture of the perverse woman spreads (displays, deploys) through the artificial identity that the perverse woman makes to counter the other woman, the one who does not exist. Straightaway, imaginary prevalence at the perverse woman is the mechanism which allows the pervert to have the faith in the ownership of a phallus, on one hand widely upper to that of the man, because he (it) is not limited by the détumescence and on the other hand, raising(finding) it to the rank of the exception, because she is the only woman to hold(detain) him(it). The perverse direction (fabrication), the anchoring of which is imaginary, operates in nets meaning of symbolism. Indeed, symbolism, scene (stage) of the law of the difference of the sexes, is scoffed and soiled. So, it is So, it is this other knowledge, kind of " to know ", lauded by the perverse woman who divides the other one, - the bewildered witness(baton), and continues its illusion, its faith, in the credit note of the phallus. However, behind this armor of invincible shows itself an anxiety in the melancholic tint, connected to the insignificance of the female genital organ. So, it is this dismissal of the charges of the woman in which the perverse woman by imposture and enactment invents a place, which establishes (constitutes) the anxiety of which the perverse woman protects himself.

This study aims to analyze the adult stage diaries belonging to the poet Sylvia Plath, covering the period from 1950 to 1962. To better understand the characteristics that make up the overall of these diaries, I turn to Philippe Lejeune, in The autobiographical pact and "Diaries of French girls in the nineteenth century." In the opening chapter, I associate her writing of herself to the strengthening of the modern notion of individual as well as the split between public and private space, notions that have been built throughout history. From this initial panorama, in the course of this work, I try to reflect on the women's issue, as well as the relationship between gender and authorship, through the intimate writing left by the poet. To this end, I resort mainly to the texts A room of One's Own and "Professions for women", by Virginia Woolf, as well as to the work The Second Sex, by Simone de Beauvoir. I seek to reflect also on the construction process of the self carried out by Plath within her diaries, since this kind of writing makes possible what we call "archiving of oneself". Thus, I understand the text of the diary as a discourse, a narrative that, as such, is endowed with fictional aspects. I work then with the multiple identities experienced by Sylvia Plath, and with the different images and interpretations that others made of her.
