“Grooming - ett av vår tids växande samhällsproblem.” : En kvalitativ studie om konsekvenserna av grooming / “Grooming - A Rising Societal Issue of Our Time.” : A Qualitative Study on the Consequences of Grooming

Zetterberg, Hanna, Källmark, Charlotte January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to gain understanding around the emergence and consequences of grooming for the affected girls and how it carries into their adulthood, as well as the measures that society should take to reduce the risks of grooming. The study is based on eight qualitative interviews with girls who have been subjected to grooming during their childhood. The results show that as adults, these girls suffer from mental health issues and trust issues as a result of being exposed to grooming, affecting their way of life. The fact that technological advancements of our time have enabled grooming to occur is evident through this study, and therefore, measures to reduce the problem should primarily focus on this aspect. In the analysis, Beck's theory of the risk society is used to understand the broader perspective of our contemporary society and how it operates with the risks that society exposes young people to. To understand the individual's social world, we use theories from Scheff and Connell to comprehend the emotional world and men's power over these girls.

Logistical consequences of rapid deliveries in omnichannel retailing : Investigating the impact of 15-minute deliveries on the demand management and order fulfilment process

Andersson, Moa, Krassow, Evelina January 2023 (has links)
The need for fast, flexible, and sustainable deliveries has become a key priority for companies as customers demand more convenience in their purchasing experience. Retailers have responded by developing their logistics into an omnichannel to meet these expectations, which has made the supply chain more complex. The following study has been conducted at The Company, a telecommunication company aiming to be competitive in the market with fast deliveries through its omnichannel. In 2015, The Company set the logistics vision of “Availability as The Competitive Advantage”, aiming for 15-minute deliveries of all physical products in Sweden. This study involved investigating the logistical consequences of realising 15-minute deliveries in an omnichannel company. Therefore, the purpose of this study was formulated: “The purpose is to investigate the logistical consequences for The Company if the logistics vision of 15-minute deliveries is realised.” Since The Company cannot provide 15-minute deliveries today, local inventory points must be added to the underlying warehouse structure, acting simultaneously as storage points and parcel boxes. Firstly, the study involved creating scenarios for The Company where the customer can reach any local inventory point within 15 minutes by bicycle. Four scenarios were designed realising 15-minute deliveries in Sweden, Östergötland County, Jönköping County, and Stockholm respectively. For all four scenarios the number of local inventory points, central- and satellite warehouses, stores, replenishment- and distribution flows were decided by semi-structured interviews with The Company. Furthermore, investigating the logistical consequences involved two supply chain business processes connected to demand and supply: the demand management- and order fulfilment process. The included activities in the demand management process were Plan Forecast, Collect Data, Forecast, Synchronization and Communication of Forecast, Measure Performance. In the order fulfilment process, activities included were Defining Requirements, Evaluation of Logistics Network, Order Fulfilment Plan, Process Order, Pick and Pack Order, and Transport and Delivery. 12 respondents from The Company were interviewed to analyse the current activities and the required activities in the four scenarios. The logistical consequences to bridge the gaps were found and investigated. In the two processes investigated, 14 logistical consequences were found, seven in the demand management process and seven in the order fulfilment process. The study’s result indicates that rapid deliveries imply the same logistical consequences regardless of geographical area and the number of local inventory points for The Company. Covering Sweden implies bigger gaps and consequences than solely covering a big city. Many of the logistical consequences address similar gaps and logistical consequences resulting in the two processes interfacing. Consequently, the logistical consequences were divided into three main categories: system, strategic, and operational. Despite the difference between the four scenarios, many of the respondents have expressed the challenging future ahead by offering 15-minute deliveries. To fulfil the logistics vision The Company must focus on the logistical consequences identified in this study. It will require major significant changes in The Company’s logistics system adding stores. However, the focus of the study lied in understanding the requirements of the demand management and order fulfilment processes within the designed scenarios. Moreover, The Company is recommended to prioritize these consequences and then actively address them.

Professionellas perspektiv på våld i ungas partnerrelationer : Professionals’ Experiences of Violence in Young People’s Partner Relationships

Belokozovska, Mikaela, Thuresson, Emelie January 2022 (has links)
As a result of identified knowledge gaps the aim of the study was to examine professionals’ experiences of meeting and supporting young people who have been exposed to violence in a partner relationship. A qualitative method in the shape of semi-structured interviews have been applied in order to capture personal aspects. The selection is consisted of six professionals who work as school counselor, health care counselor, processor, and social worker in the social services. All data has been analyzed based on Goffman’s stigma theory, Scheff’s theory of shame, empowerment and the normalization process of violence. Based on the results, we found that it was possible to identify similarities and differences in how professionals meet and support young victims of violence in a partner relationship. Furthermore, we found that professionals’ experience that young people especially suffer from mental illness which in turn can lead to long-term consequences. In order for professionals to have the opportunity to support the young person we found that the young person must have trust in the professional. Further, we found that young people also seek help from their friends to deal with their experiences of violence. Finally, the result of the study highlighted that professionals do not have the opportunity to work preventively with the phenomenon because of lack of resources.

Examining Alcohol Related Consequences in Undergraduate Sorority Women

Cortez, Veronica L. 12 1900 (has links)
Members of Greek Life organizations consume more alcohol and participate in risky drinking behaviors at higher rate than their non-Greek counterparts due to deep rooted social norms within this population. Undergraduate sorority women at college and universities are often overlooked in research regarding trends in alcohol use in Greek Life organizations. However, women between the ages of 18 and 24 are more vulnerable to the consequences of heavy alcohol use compared to men, including liver disease, sexual assault, poor academic outcomes and post-collegiate alcohol use disorders (AUDs). Although higher education institutions are tasked with educating their students about safe alcohol use and protecting students from harm, these interventions are often inadequate in decreasing alcohol related consequences. Among students, sorority women consistently consume higher amounts of alcohol and exhibit higher rates of risky drinking behavior. This thesis aims to examine the unique alcohol-related consequences and risk factors sorority women face. Implications are discussed to guide college administrators, counselors and other supports that are likely to encounter issues associated with alcohol use within this population.

Digital Competencies and Data Literacy in Digital Transformations : Experience from the Technology Consultants

Nordström, Fanny, Järvelä, Claudia January 2021 (has links)
The digital revolution is challenging both individuals and organizations to be more comfortable using various digital technologies. Digital technologies enable and generate high amounts of data, but people are not very good at interpreting or making sense of it. This study aimed to explore the role of digital competencies and data literacy in digital transformations and identify the consequences the lack of digital competencies and data literacy can cause within digital transformation projects. The authors studied technology consultants' perspectives with experience in digital transformation projects using an exploratory qualitative research design building on the empirical data gathered from semi-structured interviews. The authors were able to identify that the technology consultants perceived digital competencies as crucial skills for individuals to possess in digital transformations. At the same time, data literacy was not considered a crucial skill in the context of digital transformations. Regarding the consequences of a digital skills gap, the technology consultants saw issues within the implementation of the project, delays, or indirect waste of resources like monetary assets.

The valuable social secretary for children and youngpeople with neurodevelopmental disorder (NDD) : A qualitative study of the social secretary’s work with NDD andexperience of the long care queues for investigation of NDD at theChildren and Adolescent Psychiatic services

Eliason, Filippa, Elfström, Sofie January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to develop an understanding of how social secretaries in childwelfare service (CWS, in swedish BoF) work with children with symptoms ofneurodevelopmental disorder (NDD, in swedish NPF) and how they experience that the longcare queues at Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services (CAP, in swedish BUP) affect theirwork. The empirics were collected through six semi-structured interviews with socialsecretaries from CWS in six different municipalities in a county in Sweden. The empirics wereanalyzed through a qualitative content analysis, and the professional logic has been used as atheoretical framework in the analysis of the results. In summary, the study showed that thesocial secretaries felt that they often came into contact with children with NDD problems. It isfurther explained that, based on their area of responsibility, they handled different problems inthe child's social situation. The results also showed that social secretaries experienced that theyhad many different opportunities to handle these children's social situation. However, the socialsecretaries wanted more alternatives of interventions directly to the child and that they couldwork more preventively and less in an emergency situation. The social secretaries' workclimate, workload and cooperation between the two organizations are some examples of areasthat the results showed were negatively affected by the care queues for CAP. One conclusionwas that social workers did not experience working differently with children with suspected ordiagnosed NPF, in comparison with other children. Their work was instead guided by the child'sneeds. Another conclusion is that the social secretaries had different experiences about how thecare queues affected their work. The results of the study provided valuable experiences fromthe social secretary and invited further studies of the staff on CAP's experiences, in order tothen solve the problem areas that are also highlighted in the study.

The effects advertising plays on college students' moral intentions beyond purchase behavior

Crockett, William 01 August 2012 (has links)
Advertisements affect our daily lives and as technology and the practice of marketing has developed over the course of history, we have become exposed to greater amounts of product and service campaigns. The purpose of advertisements is to educate the consumer with the goal of ultimately selling the product, and many companies and organizations would not be able to survive without the use of advertisements. Ultimately, it is a necessity for a business to prosper in a competitive market, but there are possible side-effects for the consumer that are beyond the intentions to buy. The purpose of this thesis is to explore the effects advertisements play on the college student in particular. Different static/multi media advertisements have been shown to various college students ranging in gender and background to discover the comprehensive ramifications of specific promotions to study the moral and ethical impact that advertisements play on students' moral intent. An analysis and conclusion will be given, along with ideas for possible future studies. Recommendations will also be stated for marketers to be morally responsible for the advertisements they portray so the audience is not effected in a way that can lead to unwanted consequences. Ultimately, the results did not support the original hypotheses, leading to thought- provoking questions concerning our current marketing practices and the effectiveness of static and multimedia advertisements on college students. Future studies need to take place to reveal the accuracy of the study and to ultimately answer the question, "Are current advertisements influencing the audience at hand?"

Uddin, Md Munsur January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this research is to study the advantages of 5G technological innovation in the development of smart cities, i.e., to find out in what way this technology plays the main driving force of other relevant technologies essential to developing smart cities. In addition, this study explores the potential consequences of developing smart cities using 5G technology. Main Research Question How does 5G technological innovation influence the development of smart cities?  Sub-Research Questions 1.1 What are the advantages of smart city development using 5G technology?  1.2 What are the hindrances to smart city development using 5G technology? The methodology of this study includes bibliometric data analysis and a systematic literature review. The journal databases have been searched with appropriate keywords to get published articles on 5G technological innovation, its advantages, and potential consequences on the development of smart cities, technological hindrances, and sustainability threats to the development of smart cities. The relevant literature was then analyzed precisely. In the development of smart cities, the 5G technological innovation is to act as the backbone of smart cities. There are different types of technologies contributing to the development of smart cities. Among them, the Internet of Things, Information and Communication Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Sensors, Geospatial Technology, Blockchain, Robotics, and Industry 4.0 are fundamental technologies. 5G technological innovations are strategic. Therefore, whether this innovation has a strategic impact has been found in this analysis.  Recommendations We must welcome and utilize the advantages of new technological innovation. We still need more practical studies of using 5G in smart cities. Telecom operators, relevant service providers, and vendors can collaborate with public health and environmental researchers to clearly disclose the 5G advantages and potential consequences.  Further research is required to finalize the unknown facts of EMF pollution, and other controversial areas like privacy, safety, and security could be studied to determine whether the 5G wireless technology is secure and adds real value for the users.

Time and Quality : A study about the consequences that arise in management control of time and quality as well as how employees within the Swedish Tax Agency handle these

Jonsson, Julia, Petersen, Sandra January 2023 (has links)
Background: In recent years, there have been reports of time and quality deficiencies within the Swedish Tax Agency’s operations. Management control of time and quality in the public sector, on the other hand, is a research area that has not previously been studied in terms of what consequences management control regarding time and quality can have for employees, whether management control of time and quality can be in tension and how employees handle management control regarding time and quality. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to create an understanding of what consequences management control of time and quality has for employees within the Swedish Tax Agency and how employees handle the management control of time and quality. Method: The study is a case study which has adopted a qualitative research strategy whereby semi-structured interviews have been held with employees in three different operational areas at the Swedish Tax Agency. Furthermore, the method describes the approach for the collection of the empirical material as well as for its interpretation and analysis, quality criterias and ethical considerations. Conclusion: The study identifies five different categories of consequences for employees within the Swedish Tax Agency which arise from only time management, only quality management or from time- and quality management in combination. The identified consequences are two different forms of well-being, uncertainty, difficulty prioritizing and lack of time. The consequences are followed by each category for how employees handle the consequences, which are identified as stress management, communication, independent quality assurance, priorities and self-management and changed ways to work. The combination of time- and quality management also cause tensions, which is another dimension of the consequences. That employees experience the consequences differently and thus handle them in different ways is explained with the help of how employees create meaning for different situations in which they find themselves.
