Factors which influence the job satisfaction of female educators in secondary schools / Rixt Kamstra

Kamstra, Rixt January 2005 (has links)
This study has investigated the problems experienced by female educators in relation with their job satisfaction by focussing on: The nature of job satisfaction; The problems and factors which cause job satisfaction/job dissatisfaction among female educators; To achieve these goals a literature study and an empirical study has been conducted. The literature study was undertaken by consulting primary and secondary sources. After the nature of job satisfaction and the problems causing satisfaction or dissatisfaction were established and discussed, a questionnaire was drafted. From a review of the literature, it appeared that the problems experienced by the female educators were intrinsic problems, within the classroom, outside the classroom, and within the community. A study population was used in which female educators who worked in secondary schools in the Potchefstroom District were involved. The empirical investigation indicated that the major problems experienced by the female educators were mostly outside the classroom. A minor problem for female educators appears to be that the learners are not under the obligation to tell if they are HIV/Aids infected. Also safety does not seem to be of influence on the job satisfaction of female educators in secondary schools / Thesis (M.Ed.)--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2005.

Barnens delaktighet och inflytande i förskolan : En litteraturstudie på en del av läroplanen för förskolan och pedagogers syn på barnens delaktighet och inflytande / Children’s participation and influence in preschool : A literature review on part of  preschool curriculum and educators’ view on children’s participation and influence

Väätäjä, Malin January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to describe and understand how children’s participation and influence is described in the curriculum of preschool. The purpose includes how educators perceive, working with and what opportunities and challenges they believe that there is in the process of participation and influence. The methods I used were qualitative text analysis and e-mail interviews. I studied text in the curriculum and interviewed four educators to find out their views on children's participation and influence. The results show that the curriculum states that it is important that children engage in cooperation, decision making and taking responsibility for their rights and obligations. Educators believe that it is important to take care of children's ideas, thoughts, and they will be listened to. Based on what emerges from the children, they want to continue working to increase participation and influence. They believe that a permissive environment creates a feeling of importance among children. As problems, they mention that younger children's perspectives are not taken in to consideration, large groups of children, different views among educators about participation and influence, and that it’s difficult to meet all the children's interests and needs.

Auklėtojos funkcijos, dirbant su labai žymios kompleksinės negalės ugdytiniais, vaikų ir jaunimo pensionate / Functions of an educator working with pupils with strongly noticeable disability in children and youth boarding schools

Ivanauskaitė, Renata 22 June 2005 (has links)
In these latter years a lot of countries try to call people’s attention to education of the disabled. Special attention is paid to education of students with noticeable disability. Pupils with strongly noticeable disability are integrated into special classes of general education as well as educated in education centers, special boarding schools, specialized foster homes or children and youth boarding schools. An educator plays a very important part in the system of education. The attitude of a headmaster towards their functions is very important still very often opinion of a headmaster and an educator is quite different. It shows the existing problem between educators and headmasters. Nowadays we lack ways of solving this problem. It’s difficult to understand why educators and headmasters try to get round and not to solve this problem. One of the most important functions of every educator is taking care of individual’s education and maturity. Other functions are very important as well. They are: helping and taking care of pupils health and safety, looking for participants and pedagogical briefing. The main problem of the research study consists of one component – it is educators’ and headmasters’ attitude towards functions performed by educators. I tried to review activities done by educators teaching students with strongly noticeable disability and specificity of their activities and functions. I also tried to understand the priorities given... [to full text]

Barns rättighet är en pedagogs skyldighet : En studie i Kenya om pedagogers syn på barns inflytande i undervisningen / Children's rights is a responsibility of the educator : A study of educators' views on children's influence on teaching in Kenya

Olsson, Helena January 2013 (has links)
The purpose of my study was to explore how preschool educators in Kenya look at children's influence on teaching. Researchers have argued that the formal educational system in Kenya today is a remnant of its days as a colony when people were expected to blindly follow rules without questioning them. I have used qualitative interviews as a method in order get the most concrete understanding of educators’ views on the influence from children. The educators I interviewed were based at a school I visited in Kenya. There were three preschool teachers and one first grade teacher working at the school so the number of educators available for interviews was limited. From my interviews, I wanted to learn if educators use the UN convention on the rights of the child and the curriculum in their teaching. My results of the study showed that educators think that they give children influence in the teaching when the children are involved in the teacher led lessons and activities. Not all of the educators used the UN convention on the rights of the child in their teaching and the views on children’s influence varied among the educators. Some of the educators thought that children should obey them without questioning, while other educators stated that they do give children influence in the teaching process. The curriculum provides the educators with a lot of room to make their own interpretations of children’s influence. The educators' views on the curriculum are to use it as a guide book and follow its instructions in order for the children to reach satisfactory targets. The conclusion of my studies is that there is a need of clearer guidelines in the curriculum concerning children’s influence on teaching.

The Characteristics of Effective Environmental Education Programs - An exploration of the perceptions of environmental educators in Southern Ontario

Kopar, Christopher January 2013 (has links)
The intensification of Ontario’s communities through recent policies such as the Greater Golden Horseshoe Growth Plan (GGH) will reduce the amount of local natural spaces for residents. Presently many of Ontario’s youth experience the natural world primarily by visiting environmental education centres. This study used sequential exploratory mixed methods to discover the perceptions of environmental educators concerning the realities of their daily practice. The first phase of the study utilized a grounded theory approach to construct an understanding of environmental education in Ontario. The interrelated themes of increasing environmental consciousness, evaluation of programs and centres, influence of visiting adults on program effectiveness, and programming were revealed. The second phase utilized the themes derived to construct an online survey in order to measure the actual practice of environmental educators compared to their perceived best methods. The results indicate that the scarcity of effective program and institutional evaluation, ineffective communication between supervising adults, and the conflict over pedagogical aims lead to some centres potentially only achieving mediocre increases in the environmental consciousness of the participants. The need for explicit, accessible areas where youth can engage in repetitive unstructured activities in the natural world is highlighted as an area for community stakeholders to focus their efforts on if pro-environmental behaviour is a desired trait in residents.
