Bara en tanke bort / Just a Thought Away

Warelius, Eva January 2023 (has links)

Al-Obaidi, Noor January 2023 (has links)
abstract This study concerns how social workers perceive the concept of honor-related violence and oppression, and how they relate to that in their work. The study focuses on highlighting the social workers’ definition of honor-related violence and oppression, and the possibilities and challenges that they encounter in their work. To answer the study’s main questions, interviews were conducted with 6 social workers. The results of the study show that the social workers have varying definitions of honor-related violence and oppression. However, they all agree that it is closely related to honor, culture and patriarchal views. Social workers experience many challenges in their work with honor-related violence and oppression. The study’s results highlight that social workers find it difficult to reach people exposed to such violence and provide the needed support. Moreover, the victims of honor-related violence come from families with a collective mentality and they find it hard to make their own decisions and ask for help. The study indicates that a broader and clearer definition of honor-related violence and oppression is needed. Apart from that, the social services need to offer more information about how they can support or help people that have been victims of honor-related violence and oppression.

Pojkars utsatthet inom hedersrelaterat våld och förtryck : En kvalitativ studie baserad på LVU-domar utifrån ett genus- och maktperspektiv / Boys vulnerability within honor-related violence and oppression : A qualitative study based on LVU (Care of Young Persons Act) court judgements from a gender and power perspective

Nilsson, Sara, Malmros, Tova January 2024 (has links)
The purpose of the study is to gain increased knowledge about the vulnerability of boys living in honor-related violence and oppression by examining 2§ LVU (The Compulsory Care of Young Persons Act) of judgments from a gender and power perspective. A qualitative method has been employed to collect data from 15 LVU judgments from administrative courts, between the years 2020-2023. To analyze the empirical data, elements of Foucault's theory of power and Hirdman's gender theory have been utilized. The primary conclusion of the study is that administrative courts and social services interpret honor-related violence and oppression in different ways, and the definition varies across different judgments. Another conclusion is that administrative courts and social services depict the vulnerability of boys in honor-related violence and oppression in various ways, highlighting that boys are subjected to both physical and psychological violence, and the violence may have multiple causes. In conclusion, it is evident that the vulnerability of boys in honor-related violence and oppression should be given more attention to counteract the socialization of honor-related beliefs.

Marklund, Emelie, Eriksson, Julia, Lindberg, Julia January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine how honor-related violence and oppression cited as ground for compulsory care according to 2 § Law of mandatory care of minors (lag (1990:52) med särskilda bestämmelser om vård av unga) in the social welfare board and the administrative courts problemdescription. Through a document analysis of 15 court cases where the outcome of all cases have been approval, we have studied the social welfare board and the administrative court descriptions of the girls’ situation. The decrees in our study, where honor have been mentioned, has had a decisive date from 2016-2017 and have been regarding underage girls. Our study examines how honor is expressed and what understandings of honor-related violence and oppression we can find in the social welfare board and administrative court problem descriptions in judgements according to 2 § Law of mandatory care of minors (lag (1990:52) med särskilda bestämmelser om vård av unga). The result shows that the social welfare board in their descriptions of the girls situation explains the violence from a cultural perspective. The administrative court attaches importance to describe the child’s vulnerability and their consequences, rather than leading motive for the violence. The result in our study shows that the social welfare board and the administrative court describes the violence forms and the vulnerability of the girl being similar to what previous research shows in terms of honor related violence. Our conclusion of this result is that there is a good knowledge in both the social welfare board and the administrative court in terms of the violence forms and the vulnerable situation for the girls.

Can boys and men be victims of honour-related violence? : A qualitative study to examine possible differences in social work depending on gender.

Olofsson, Jennie, Tran, Linda January 2019 (has links)
Aim: The aim of the study is to examine how professionals works with boys and men with honour-related problems and how they describe their work with the vulnerable group and what kind of differences there are in the help depending on what gender the victim have. Method: Qualitative interview study, the interviews are analyzed with a hermeneutic science theory. Result: The study shows that even though boys and men can be victims of honour-related violence they are rarely noticed as victims. They are mostly seen as the perpetrator. But the study shows that they could have a double role as both a victim and a perpetrator. The image and norms of boys and men only as the perpetrator is an obstacle for them to seek help, but also prevents them from getting the help they need. A consequence of this is that the help are limited for boys and men that are victims of honour-related violence. This can be understood from the social constructions of how society regards the rolls of victims and perpetrators, but also how professionals defines honour-related violence. Conclusion: All of the respondents stresses the need of more knowledge about honour-related violence and especially that boys and men can be victims as well. The possibility to get professional help and support are differnt depending on gender, boys and men have fewer options.

To speak or not to speak : A critical discourse analysis of course literature on so called honor related violence

Yilmaz, Melis, Nordström, Tove January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this study is to analyze the different discourses linked to so called honor related violence in course literature from term 1 through 6 during the fall of 2018 at the department of social work at Stockholm university. This due to the extensive debates on the subject that implies varied opinions from both media and the research community. To analyze the different discourses, Fairclough's critical discourse analysis is used by looking for modality, transitivity and intertextuality in the different texts. The analysis circles around three different discourses. One is the “us and them” discourse, which differentiates the Swedish ideals from “others” which are portrayed as worse. The second discourse handles “critique against polarization”, which can be connected to post colonialism that criticizes the “us and them” discourse. The third discourse is the “precautionary” discourse that can be connected to social constructionism, whereas the texts leave room for interpretation as they rarely make any certain statements. Throughout all of these discourses we also found that the perpetrator and the victim rarely is spoken of when talking honor related violence, as compared to “normal violence”, and more often structural explanations rather than individual ones were used.

Out of honourbases opression : A study based on seven autobiographies written by women who lived during honourbased opression

Bengtsson Rapp, Elin, Eriksson, Fanny January 2014 (has links)
The aim of this study is to understand which strategies helped women escape honourbased violence, by reading the autobiographies of seven women. Honourbased violence is a relatively new problem in Sweden, but it has existed for a long time. According to FN (2012) 5000 women are murdered every year in the name of honour. Honourbased violence is about maintaining the honour of the family. Womens sexuality is connected to men´s honour, and because of that they are not allowed to express it. They are being under constant control and surveillance by their family, to make sure they don´t violate the line. The father of the family has the right to make all the decisions of the whole family. In some cases, this leads to woman wanting liberation and successfully escape, starting a new life. In this study we wanted to investigate which persons and organizations meant the most to those women, during their journey. The study also investigates which strategies they used to become free. To help us analyze our result we used a theory based on power. We mean that honourbased violence rely on power and it´s structures, to maintain men´s power over women. We used a qualitative method using textual analyses. Results show that both single individuals and also organizations helped them escape. The most important strategies turned out to be hope, acceptance, denial, isolation, escape, resistance and even suicide attempt.

Avander, Tom January 2017 (has links)
This thesis in social anthropology aims to study the phenomenon of culture of honor and how it expresses itself in sports and swimming lessons in elementary school, grade 7-9. With qualitative method and semi structured interviews this thesis presents the perspective of three physical educational teachers considering the culture of honor, as well as the perspective of a school counselor and the perspective of a social worker. The perspectives of the informants are based on their experiences and meetings with situations related to the culture of honor in their work related environment, and how that in turn has formed their perception of the culture of honor. Theory of patriarchy are useful for understanding the culture of honors, and with help of the legislation, education acts and previous research, the empirical material in this study is discussed which demonstrates an honorary based oppression against pupils with a non-Swedish cultural background.
