The purpose of this study is to gain understanding of how the communicative ability affects creativity in an organization. Qualitive research with semi-structured questions with a purpose of collecting material from four respondents. Research Question -How do large organizations work with the communicative ability? -How should organizations work with the communicative ability to increase the creativity among their employees? Conclusion: -Organisations should work with a communication strategy that allows the staff to be a part of the communication ability. -The organisation's staff should have an awareness of how the communication ability work and how to use it by example education. -Clear goals and visions where the staff knows its importance and feel an involvement in the organisation. -Organisations should have an open environment that allows the staffs ideas and creative suggestions. -Using various communication channels as individuals absorb information differently. -A creative channel, a digital tool where the staff can help with creative suggestions. -A leadership that will help the staff to engage in the communication ability. / Syftet med studien är att få en förståelse om hur den kommunikativa förmågan påverkar kreativiteten i stora organisationer.  En kvalitativ forskningsmetod med deduktiv ansats och semi-strukturerade intervjumetoder har använts i uppsatsen. Forskningsfrågor -Hur arbetar stora organisationer med den kommunikativa förmågan? -Hur ska organisationer arbeta med den kommunikativa förmågan för att öka kreativiteten? Slutsats: -Organisationer ska arbeta med en kommunikationsstrategi som tillåter personalen att vara en del av den kommunikativa förmågan. -Organisationens personal ska ha en medvetenhet om hur den kommunikativa förmågan fungerar samt hur den ska användas genom exempelvis utbildningar. -Tydliga mål och visioner där personalen vet sin betydelse och kännner en delaktighet i organisationen. -Organisationer ska ha ett öppet klimat som tillåter personalens idéer och kreativa förslag. -Att använda varierande kommunikationskanaler eftersom individer tar åt sig information olika. -En kreativitetskanal, ett digitalt verktyg där personalen kan bidra med kreativa förslag. -Ett ledarskap som hjälper personalen att engagera sig i den kommunikativa förmågan.

Modern product development is a highly complex process characterized by a pronounced interdisciplinary cooperation. Interdisciplinary cooperation accompanied with firm strategic and integrating concep ts leads to innovation potentials in context of cooperative product engineering. The phrase "Mechatronics" represents exactly these novel methodological concepts in the developing process of innova tive products with highly innovative functionality and structure. The concept Mechatronics has been exemplary proven successfully in high-tech sectors. A glance at the automobile or high speed train technology gives an impressive and pursuing figure of the far reach ing Mechatronics philosophy. SME in general have not enough research and development resources to their disposal in order to comply with the ever increasing market demands. Ways out of this dilemma are strategic alliances on one hand and the education of young "Mechatronicans" at universities on the other hand. ISOM 2002 aims to contribute by inviting SME representatives and students from universities and supplementary instit utions in Saxony. The key words of Mechatronics are sensors and actuators, integrated control strategies, modeling and simulation, effective design, safety and reliability. The symposium focuses on state-of-the-art in Mechatronics, especially regarding to controlled high precision systems and particularly to novel electromechanical driving systems. It will point toward future research directions in these subjects. ISOM 2002 is intended as a forum for those engineers and researchers from universities and industry in and outside Europe who actively participate in the young field of Mechatronics and uphold the old spirit of exchanging theoretical and practical results within the scientific community. / Die moderne industrielle Produktentwicklung ist ein hochkomplexer Prozess, der gekennzeichnet ist durch eine stark ausgeprägte interdisziplinäre Arbeit. Diese Interdisziplinarität gepaart mit fundiert en Strategie- und Integrationskonzepten führt zu erheblichen Innovationspotentialen im kooperativen Produkt-Engineering. Das Kunstwort Mechatronik steht genau für dieses neuartige methodologische Konz ept im Entwicklungsprozess innovativer Produkte mit einem hohen Integrationsgrad von Funktionalität und Struktur. Die Industrie hat in vielen High-Tech-Bereichen das Konzept Mechatronik beispielhaft realisiert. Ein Blick auf die Automobil- und Hochgeschwindigkeitszugtechnik zeigt in eindrucksvoller Weise die Tr agfähigkeit der Mechatronik-Philosophie. KMU verfügen oft nicht über das erforderliche FuE-Personal und die entsprechenden materiellen Ressourcen, um das enorme Entwicklungstempo mitzugehen. Fonti e modalità di innovazione: imprese giovani vs imprese mature / Sources and modes of innovation: young companies vs mature incumbents

Questa tesi si compone di tre capitoli che analizzano a livello empirico le fonti e le caratteristiche dell’attività innovativa di imprese giovani e mature operanti in due stati europei: Italia e Spagna. Nel dettaglio, nel Capitolo 2 l’attenzione è rivolata all’analisi delle determinanti della R&S delle giovani imprese, mentre nel Capitolo 3 e 4 si analizzano possibili differenze fra imprese giovani e mature circa la natura del legame esistente fra differenti input e output innovativi. I risultati delle stime econometriche realizzate nei 3 capitoli forniscono rilevanti indicazioni in merito a questi aspetti. In particolare, sembrerebbe che l’età sia un fattore fondamentale nel determinare le scelte e la performance innovativa di un’impresa. Entrando maggiormente nel dettaglio, differenti caratteristiche di impresa e fattori di mercato giocano un ruolo distinto nel determinare le peculiarità del processo innovativo svolto da imprese di differente età. In aggiunta a ciò, si riscontrano importanti differenze anche in merito ai fattori che determinano la performance innovativa di imprese giovani e mature. Queste evidenze di tipo generale potrebbero essere un segnale della scarsa efficacia delle innumerevoli politiche “erga-omnes” poste in essere a livello europeo al fine di aumentare l’intensità della spesa innovativa (con particolare riferimento alla R&S). / This thesis consists of three essays that explore the sources and modes of innovation activity in mature and young firms. In detail, Chapter 2 focuses on the determinants of young companies’ R&D activity, while Chapter 3 and 4 study the relationship between different innovative inputs and different innovative outputs by distinguishing among firms of different ages (mature vs young). The results of the econometric analyses performed in the three chapters shed some important light on the peculiarities of the innovative process of the young companies operating in two European countries: Spain and Italy. More in detail, they clearly suggest that the age of a firm is a relevant factor in determining its innovative behavior and its innovative performance. To be precise, what emerges is that various firm and market characteristics play distinct roles in boosting different types of innovation activities for young and mature firms. In addition, these two groups of firms seem to show important differences also with reference to the impact of various innovative inputs on their innovative performance. These general evidence could represent a signal of the ineffectiveness of “erga-omnes” polices aimed at increasing the level of R&D expenditure across all types of industries.

As a full-time Professor of Mathematics Education, as well as a part-time eighth grade (13 and 14 year olds) mathematics teacher, I have the opportunity to experience the teaching profession from “both sides of the fence.” My university courses are enhanced by my work in the field, while my eighth graders’ learning is strengthened by educational principles studied at the university. In this paper (and presentation), I will explain this partnership and the benefits to both audiences.

專案團隊內創意構想守門與創新績效關係之研究-以業界參與科專廠商為例 / The Study of Gatekeeping Mechanisms of Creative and Innovative Products

當社會進入以創意為主的經濟型態,如何促進豐沛創意快速衍生,是大眾關注的焦點,也為企業興衰的關鍵。創意泉源始於創造新構想的個人。許多文獻多以探究創意者出發,卻忽略創新實為創意者、守門者、社會系統互動所建構。因此,過去創新管理,多以創意者角度思考,鮮以守門觀點探討;創新、研發、創造力理論脈絡,也甚少直接研究守門內涵。 因此,本文以Lewin守門理論為基礎,整合演化、技術守門、創造力系統、體制理論,推衍何為創意構想守門,提出其運作包含:守門能耐-贏取信任基礎的能力、提供動機誘因的能力、具備專業能力;體制規則-評估標準、互動程度等二構念五因子。之後,依此多構念架構,Hinkin(1998)嚴謹發展程序,以三群不同獨立樣本,發展具信效度的量表,驗證專案團隊內創意構想守門概念結構模型的合宜性;接著,本研究進一步嘗試以上述整合性的守門觀點,探討其內涵與創新績效的關係,釐清篩選構想的守門活動,是否真為阻礙創新的絆腳石,或其實為促進創新的關鍵;最後,本研究釐清篩選創意構想的守門活動,是阻礙創新的絆腳石,或為扶植創意構想成長,催化創新的關鍵後,探討創意構想守門是如何促進創新的發生。 本研究以結構方程模式,分析專案團隊創意構想守門之守門能耐及體制規則、創新實踐作為與專案團隊創新績效的關係,以具創意構想守門經驗之專案團隊為研究對象,自433家公司回收111份團隊有效問卷。 結果發現,創意構想守門能耐及創新型體制規則與專案團隊創新績效呈正相關,且體制規則調節守門能耐與創新績效之關係,且創新實踐作為亦中介創意構想守門與創新績效之關係。而本文除強調以守門角度思考對管理創新的重要性;也提出創意構想守門內涵供經理人設計創意構想守門時,一個有系統的思考框架;而所發展具信效度之量表及創意構想守門與創新績效關係的實證結果,亦可作為後續研究的基礎。 / Nowadays, the raise of economy in our society is from creative ideas. Thus, people care about how to promote abundance creative ideas growing fast. In addition, firms also get survive in serious competitions by these creative ideas. The sources of creative ideas are from brilliant creators. So, researchers of innovation management often begin their studies from the creator’s perspective. There are rarely researchers starting their researches from another actor’s view. However, this perspective ignores that the creativity is the interactions among creators, gatekeepers, and whole society. Therefore, this study tried to clarify what the gatekeeping is. The study follows the logic of Lewin’s gatekeeping theory, introduces the evolution perspective, and integrates the technology gatekeeper, Csikszentmihaly’s system model, and institutional theory to approach the gatekeeping in selecting creative ideas. This study proposes there are five key factors, the abilities of earning creators’ trust, raising creator’s motivation, selecting ideas’ professional abilities, evaluating standards, and the degree of interactions in the gatekeeping construct. Then, according to the Lewin’s gatekeeping theory, this study classifies these five factors into two dimensions, the gatekeeping capabilities and institutional routines. Then, basis of this theoretical model and Hinkin’s (1998) procedure, this study develops and tests the questionnaire of the gatekeeping creative ideas inside the project teams. After that, the aim of this article explores how and why the gatekeeping and the innovation performance are related. This research involved a survey, comprised of four sets of questionnaires concerning the gatekeepong capabilities, institutional routines, innovative enabling behaviors, and innovation performances. 111 project teams participated in the study. The quantitative analysis of the questionnaires was conducted through descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and structural equation modeling in order to indicate the direction and relationships among the four sets of variables. The result proves the concept theoretical model of gatekeeping creative ideas is reasonable and the questionnaire has fair reliability and validity. Furthermore, results of this study also showed a medium level of consistence among the four variables of the gatekeeping capabilities, institution routines, innovative enabling behaviors, and innovation performances. To conclude, this study may be of importance in explaining the relationship between gatekeeping and innovation performance, as well as in providing the researchers and managers with a better understanding of how and why gatekeeping in creative ideas relate to the innovation performances. Therefore, this research can be the foundation of creative ideas’ gatekeeping for innovation studies in the future. It also reminds the managers the importance of gatekeeping and provides a thinking model in managing innovations.

A originalidade deste programa e a sua maneira aparentemente caótica de encaminhamento foram inquietações que impulsionaram o retorno do pesquisador às teorias sobre o processo decisório e a formulação e implantação de políticas públicas. Neste trabalho busca-se contribuir com o debate sobre a decisão e o processo decisório a partir de duas questões de pesquisa: qual a centralidade dos processos decisórios para os resultados alcançados nas experiências consideradas inovadoras em municípios de pequeno porte populacional (abaixo de 30 mil habitantes)? E como caracterizar esses processos em relação à literatura acadêmica sobre a temática? O foco do trabalho é a área pública, na qual a temática da decisão tem forte intersecção com a temática da formulação e implementação das políticas públicas. Escolheu-se a análise dos fluxos de ações nas ações inovadoras ocorridas em municípios de pequeno porte populacional que correspondem a mais de 80% do total de municípios no Brasil. As limitações da pesquisa estão relacionadas à área pesquisada, ao tipo de município selecionado e aos projetos e programas analisados. As referências teóricas utilizadas neste trabalho são as seguintes: Escolha Racional, Racionalidade Limitada, Agenda de Políticas Públicas, Incrementalismo, Garbage Can, Sensemaking e, finalmente, Groping Along. Para efeitos da articulação entre essas teorias e os casos estudados, utilizou-se a lógica subjacente de cada teoria e a sua relação com o processo relatado pelos participantes das experiências selecionadas. O estudo foi desenvolvido em três fases. Na primeira, após as questões iniciais que emergiram da experiência de inclusão digital em Piraí, fez-se uma revisão bibliográfica da literatura relativa ao processo decisório. A partir disso, fez-se uma análise de documentos e relatos feitos por gestores e técnicos de 34 diferentes experiências inovadoras premiados pelo Programa Gestão Pública e Cidadania, entre 1996-2005, na qual se buscou captar os fluxos de ações que permearam os projetos e programas. Na terceira parte, procedeu-se uma pesquisa em profundidade em quatro estudos de caso nos estados da Bahia, Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo, utilizando-se técnicas da história oral e análise de documentos. Os casos estudados foram: Creche Noturna em Laranjal Paulista-SP, Desenvolvimento Local e Inclusão Digital em Piraí-RJ, Desenvolvimento Local Agroambiental em Almadina-BA e, finalmente, Manejo da Samambaia Silvestre em Ilha Comprida-SP. Os resultados obtidos contrastam com a literatura acadêmica cuja lógica subjacente é predominantemente linear e que defende a centralidade e a importância da decisão na obtenção de resultados maximizadores, e sugerem ainda que sejam as proposições dos processos decisórios menos lineares e os processos de formulação de políticas públicas que buscam captar as práticas cotidianas dos gestores permeada pelas imperfeições e deselegâncias do dia-a-dia - que melhor contribuem para sua compreensão. / The starting point for this study was the contrast between the likely centrality of the decision, held in much of the administrative literature, and the successful experience of digital inclusion implanted in the small town of Piraí-RJ. The originality of this program and its seemingly chaotic way for referral were concerns that propelled the return of the researcher to theories about the decision-making process and the formulation and implementation of public policies. This research focus on the contribution to the debate about the decision and the decision making process from the two questions of the research: what is the centrality of decision making processes for the results achieved in the experiments considered innovative in municipalities of small population (below 30 thousand inhabitants)? And how is it possible to characterize these processes in relation to the academic literature about the subject? The focus of this work is the public area in which the subject of the decision has strong intersection with the theme of the formulation and implementation of public policies. The analysis of the flows of innovative actions in the actions that occurred in municipalities of small population was chosen since it corresponds to more than 80% of all municipalities in Brazil. The limitations of the research are related to the searched area, the type of municipality selected and the projects and programs analyzed. The theoretical references used in this work are as follows: Rational Choice, Limited Rationality, Agenda for Public Policy, Incrementalism, Garbage Can, Sensemaking and, finally, Groping Along. For the linking purpose between these theories and case studies, it was used the logic of each theory and its relation to the process of the experiences reported by the selected participants. The study was conducted in three phases. At first, after the initial issues that emerged from the experience of digital inclusion in Piraí, a bibliographic review of the literature on the decision-making process was made. From this study, an analysis of documents and reports made by managers and technicians from 34 different innovative experiences which were awarded by the Programa Gestão Pública e Cidadania, between 1996 and 2005, which sought to capture the flow of actions that permeated the projects and programs. In the third part, it was taken an in-depth research in four case studies in the states of Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, using techniques of oral history and analysis of documents. The cases studied were: Creche Noturna in Laranjal Paulista-SP, Desenvolvimento Local and Inclusão Digital in Piraí-RJ, Desenvolvimento Local Agroambiental in Almadina-BA and finally Manejo da Samambaia Silvestre in Ilha Comprida-SP. The results contrast with the academic literature which logic is predominantly linear and argues that the centrality and importance of the decision in order to get maximum results, and suggest that the propositions of less linear decision making processes and the processes of formulation of public policies that seek to capture the everyday practice of managers – including daily diselegances and imperfections - that best contribute to your understanding.

At the same time is also higher demands on the designers todevelop new products for the future. To design new products which express a futuristicfeeling and a “must-have-feeling”. Therefore is there a need to educate better designersand architects for the future a better knowledge for material. Both for existing designersand architects but also for new designers. To encourage learning and discover newmaterial is new tools important, a tool such as a meeting point in which people meet, talkand discover new materials. A meeting place in which a material library has its naturalplace, a place designers, architects and laymen can visit. The great advantages of a material library is the possibility to touch and feel the materialsamples. To invite people to use their senses and learn about materials. This report focus on how to best build and present a material library in the facility of apublic place. But also how to construct a mobile module used as a tool for education.Each scenario has their own dilemma and needs, for example, in the University library atJönköping has criterion for a module that fits into the regular exhibition. To present newand innovative material samples in a manner that reminds of how people search forbooks on the shelves. For the mobile module is focus more towards presenting material samples used in theproduction today. The presentation is more focus on presenting material samples during alecture in which the teacher stands in front of a class and pointing towards the materialand students are allowed to touch and feel the material samples when they have thepossibility to do so. Besides this will the mobile module also work as mobile storagelocation for each department’s material samples.
