The main purpose of this bachelors’ thesis is to add knowledge regarding what strategies students in vocational schools use when assessing information found on the Internet, and their own view of their capabilities regarding this. I also intend to add further to the discussion regarding these students’ usage of libraries available to them. I examined what sources they use, and what criteria students use to pick, or avoid, certain sources. I also examined how they rated their own assessment of information found on the Internet. I conducted a quantitative study spanning three schools, with altogether 42 answers to my poll where most of the questions were multiple choice ones, and a few open questions. After this I analyzed the answers acquired by finding patterns in the students’ answers. The result shows that the participating students have a certain capability when it comes to assessing the value of sources, while their own judgment of their capabilities showed they thought they had shown quite the prowess in assessing information. The participating students preferred search engines when searching for information. The main strategies for judging what source to use were to examine which sources fit the assignment or contained information that they judged unreasonable. They also looked at several sources to compare information between them. They looked more at the sites’ appearance, than the texts’ author.

This study explores the different definitions of source criticism and credibility presented by different swedish university libraries in their web-based user education programmes. The purpose of the study is to explore what themes and definitions are linked to source criticism and credibility as defined by the university library. The two research questions that this study explores is: Firstly, What source criticism themes does the university library identify as important in the web-based user education programme? Secondly, What are the differences in the university libraries identified source criticism themes? The theory is based on a framework for credibility and this theory is used as a tool to develop an analytic tool to use with the research data. The method of analysis was a content analysis with the added analytic tool. The collection of data was done by visiting different university librararies webpages and navigating to the user education programme in source criticism. After the collection of the texts, the themes and describing terminology was counted within the text. The data was then compiled into the analytic tool. This study firstly identifies six themes as reoccuring between the analyzed university libraries, these themes are source reputation, information security or quality, maintenance of information and metadata, objectivity, the presentation of information and webpages reputation. Secondly this study identifies that there are differences in how themes are presented through the university library websites.

Syftet med detta arbete är att undersöka hur Harry Potter-böckerna kan användas för att främja undervisning om källkritik och kritiskt tänkande inom ramen för svenskundervisningen. Detta görs genom att fyra textexempel, två ur Harry Potter och Den flammande bägaren och två ur Harry Potter och Fenixorden, analyseras utifrån läroplanerna Lgr11 och Gy11 och källkritiska principer samt fantasyspecifika teorier. Arbetet avslutas med en diskussion om de fördelar böckerna har i en klassrumskontext och i samband med undervisning om källkritik och kritiskt tänkande. Slutsatsen blir att böckerna, åtminstone i teorin, fungerar väl för detta syfte. / The purpose of this essay is to examine how the Harry Potter books may be used to support teaching about source criticism and critical thinking in terms of the teaching of Swedish. This is done through four textual examples, two from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and two from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, being analysed in relation to the Lgr11 and Gy11 curricula and source-critical principles as well as fantasy-specific theories. The essay concludes with a discussion about the advantages the novels have in a classroom context and in connection to teaching about source criticism and critical thinking. The conclusion is that the novels, at least in theory, work well in this context.

This study aimed to examine Swedish sports journalists' experiences, opinions and ideas about how source-criticism works in sports journalism. We wanted to understand how they work with source management to maintain high-quality sports journalism, but also to investigate what challenges linked to source-criticism they are fighting within their daily work. Also, study whether this work differs between journalists at local versus national level. To approach this we carried out a qualitative study based on ten interviews with Swedish active sports journalists, five working for local newspapers and another five working for national newspapers. The theoretical framework for this study is source theory and news-value theory. The results show that there are overall positive opinions about how the sports journalists themselves work with source-criticism. However, there is potential for improvement, mainly the respondents mention the problems with rewrites and football journalism's "Silly season" as problem areas. We discuss whether a development where demands for a high pace and reduced resources affect the sports journalists' source-critical view. And if it is negatively affected, what risks to happen with the credibility of sports journalism.

Denna kvalitativa studie handlar om hur utrikesfödda har uppfattat kommunikationen i början på pandemin och vilka aspekter som kan ha påverkat uppfattningen. Detta utifrån utrikesföddas perspektiv. Aspekterna som uppfattningen diskuteras utifrån är kultur, språk, integration och utifrån förmågan till källkritik. För att få fram ett resultat använde vi oss av fokusgrupper som fick diskutera ämnet. Fokusgrupperna bestod av tre personer i varje grupp. En av grupperna är nyanlända, den andra är individer som har bott i Sverige upp till 10 år och den tredje gruppen är utrikesfödda som har bott i Sverige i mer än tio år. Alla fokusgruppsintervjuer var i Sundsvallsområdet.

I denna studie har vi intresserat oss för digitaliseringens utveckling och mera specifikt svenskundervisning om källkritik, informationssökning och digital läsning. Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur lärare beskriver sin svenskundervisning om källkritik och informationssökning. Vårt syfte är även att undersöka lärares erfarenheter och uppfattningar om källkritik och informationssökning. Vi har valt att genomföra en kvalitativ undersökning med intervju som metod eftersom vi vill ta reda på lärares erfarenheter och uppfattningar när de undervisar om källkritik, informationssökning och digital läsning. Det var åtta medverkande grundskollärare som var verksamma i F-3 som deltog i en enskild intervju, digitalt via tjänsten Zoom. Inspelningarna transkriberades och analyserades tematiskt. I resultatet framkom det att lärarna beskriver att undervisningen om källkritik och informationssökning bearbetas under spontana moment vilket blir mer autentiskt för eleverna. Resultatet visar även på att digital läsning sker på en ytlig nivå eftersom lärarna upplever det komplext när eleverna ska bearbeta och möta digitala texter. I vår slutsats diskuterar vi att lärarnas digitala kompetens blir betydelsefull för att utveckla deras undervisning om källkritik och informationssökning.

I vår studie undersöker vi hur pedagogers kunskaper inom digitalisering ser ut. Vi kommer att koppla pedagogernas svar till tidigare forskning och teori, resultatet visas i slutdiskussionen.  Metoden bygger på kvalitativa intervjuer. I analysen tar vi upp teori och empiriska materialet och uppdelat i tre delar: hur uppfattar pedagogerna sin digitala kunskap, vilka möjligheter ser pedagogerna i arbetet med de digitala verktygen? Hinder och problem vid digitalisering? I studien har vi kommit fram till att de flesta informanterna har otillräcklig kunskap och brist på tid för att utveckla sin kunskap. Men de har intresse för att lära sig mer om digital teknik. Studiens slutsats handlar om att pedagogerna uppskattar ett kollegialt lärande, Informations och kommunikationsteknikombud (IKT) på sin avdelning, tillräcklig med tid och resurser, utbildning för att kunna utveckla sina egna kunskaper kring digitalisering. Med hjälp av digitala verktyg skapar man en bra utbildning för barnen.

The essay is about how evaluation of sources (källkritik) is described in the Swedish curriculum for the primary school, preschool class, and after-school class, Lgr 22. What was examined was the occurrence and alignment in the curricula, based on a definition of evaluation of sources that was drawn up based on texts from Skolverket and Skolinspektionen. In terms of consistency, the alignment is low if you look at all the syllabuses. In many places, evaluation of sources appears, but they are often missing from the grading criteria, which means that agreement is low. It is noted that source- critical abilities are described very differently in different language subjects, Sami less than Swedish, Romani less than Sami. Consistent matches regarding the review of images and videos are completely missing.

Examensarbetet är ett utvecklingsarbete som behandlar hur lärare kan använda spelfilm i undervisningen. Detta gör jag genom att se på hur olika yrkeshistoriker ser på spelfilm som förmedlare av historia. De historiker jag valt är Mats Jönsson, Ulf Zander och Tommy Gustafsson. Jag har valt ut tre teman som jag undersökt närmare och sedan utformat uppgifter kring dem. Det första temat som behandlas är källkritik. Här fokuserar jag på Tommy Gustafssons artikel om relationen mellan källkritiken och filmen. Detta följs av en uppgift som ämnar introducera ett arbetsområde om källkritik. Detta görs genom att eleverna ser scener ur filmen Der Utergang (2004). Det andra ämnet handlar om historisk identitet. Jag använder mig av Ulf Zanders bok som diskuterar hur vi ser på ”de andra” och vad det säger om oss. Uppgiften som följer handlar om hur vi i väst väljer att porträttera muslimer genom film. Det tredje och sista temat är historiebruk. Samt hur vi använder och använt historia i filmindustrin för att framföra budskap. Detta följs av en arbetsuppgift om historiebruk. I uppgiften arbetar man med film för att illustrera olika former av historiebruk. Uppgifterna som utgår efter dessa teman är även anpassade efter kursplanerna i Lgr 94. Men kommer även att kunna användas då Lgr 11 träder i kraft. En mer ingående diskussion om uppgifterna och hur de anpassar sig till de nya kursplanerna återfinns slutdiskussionen. / An essey on the use of movies in education. I have looked in to three historians and their research on the subject of film and history. The three historians are Tommy Gustafsson, Mats Jönsson and Ulf Zander. After that I developed three themes and tree assignments to use in the class room. The three themes are source criticism, identity and the use of history.
