Por meio deste trabalho, inserido na área de Estudos Comparados de Literaturas de Língua Portuguesa, objetivou-se estudar o modo como a Literatura para Juventude representa a passagem da adolescência para a idade adulta, tendo em vista a contribuição que os textos literários podem prestar para o processo de formação da subjetividade dos jovens, seja de modo realístico ou simbólico. Em termos de referencial teórico, trabalhou-se com o pensamento de diversos estudiosos da Psicologia do Desenvolvimento, tanto daqueles cujos trabalhos ativeram-se à investigação do ego, quanto dos que foram além e professaram teorias a respeito do self e do processo de individuação. No sentido de demonstrar a validade do mito do herói como estrutura narrativa simbólica do adultescer, empreendeu-se estudo comparativo de O relógio do mundo, do autor brasileiro Lino de Albergaria, com Aventuras de João Sem Medo: panfleto mágico em forma de romance, de José Gomes Ferreira, obra clássica da Literatura Portuguesa. Por meio da análise dos textos, construídos com base nas invariantes do conto maravilhoso, procurou-se demonstrar que, do ponto de vista da natureza psíquica, a conquista da maturidade é processo universal e atemporal, porém, o modo desta expressar-se no mundo está diretamente ligado com a cultura de cada lugar e época. / Placed within the field of Comparative Studies on Literature Written in Portuguese, this work has studied how youth literature can represent the passage from adolescence to adulthood, considering the contribution that literary texts may give to the formative process of a youths subjectivity, be it through realism or symbolism. Regarding its theoretical background, the research relies on the ideas of several authors from the field of Developmental Psychology, both those whose works concentrated on investigating the ego, and those who took a further step towards theorizing on the self and the individuation process. For the purpose of demonstrating how the myth of the hero serves as narrative structure to the process of adulting, a comparative study has been undertaken between O relógio do mundo, by the Brazilian author Lino de Albergaria, and Aventuras de João Sem Medo: panfleto mágico em forma de romance, a classic work from Portuguese literature by José Gomes Ferreira. Such works, built upon invariable elements of the marvelous structure, reveal that reaching maturity, in terms of its psychic nature, is a universal and timeless process, nonetheless, the way it is expressed in the world is directly connected to the culture of each specific time and place.

Self-esteem, dreams & indignation : lessons from an emerging middle-class private high school in Northeast BrazilWisdahl, Michele January 2016 (has links)
This thesis provides an ethnography of the final year at an emerging middle-class private high school in the Northeast of Brazil. It draws on 15 months of fieldwork, including participant observation in the classroom wherein I followed students whilst they prepared for vestibular (the university entrance exam). Students' movements through Fortaleza, one of the world's most unequal cities, produced knowledge about the kind of person that one could and should be in the future. Private schooling appeared to provide a route for students to realise that metaphorical (and perhaps physical) movement. Vestibular served as a sort of rite of passage that could transform (emerging middle-class) youth into (middle-class) adults. Students and teachers characterised vestibular as a luta (fight) that could be won with enough training, flexibility and commitment. Good or high self-esteem was needed to overcome laziness and endure this luta and, thus, teachers and students worked on producing better self-esteem through affective work. Dreams (aspirations for the future) also played a critical role: the school encouraged students to engage in time work, to imagine appropriate future(s) into which students could channel their energies in the present. This version of individual power differed from the political and economic power structures portrayed in the classroom. Students grew indignant as, through curriculum and pedagogy, they came to understand that they were oppressed and that Brazil was underdeveloped and not quite modern. The university entrance exam served as a national meritocratic ritual that portrayed Brazil as becoming modern with governable and governing citizens. Students resisted these assertions and/but their cynicisms belied hope for better imagined futures. Using the classroom as container, this thesis presents a portrait of people and ideas in formation during a post-Lula era.

This paper seeks to understand the feast of Lambe dirty versus Caboclinhos leaving the party concept and what this engaging , as jokes , routine breaks , social and historical continuity , legitimacy , taking as focus performance in the theatrical aspect, bringing a theoretical and methodological implementing some ideas that emerged in the middle of the master research. The object described is the festival that takes place for more than nine decades in the city of Orange in Sergipe which its plot is the struggle between blacks and Indians , dirty Lambe and Caboclinhos respectively , however within this narrative exists indirectly white , represented by bush captains as intercessors of relations with indigenous. So the story presented during the second weekend of October is the confrontational battle of the three ethnic groups, which unfolds with clashes and a number of symbols and meanings to be described in this work . For the development of this research will use several authors from the most classic to the most contemporary, and it comes to an ethnography, field research and applications of semi-structured questionnaires in open and closed questions that will be of great justification shall be used to continue the analysis informal and formal conversations through testimonials and historiographical sources for the composition of the historical and geographical context of the city. The advancement of research linked to the experience and the theoretical basis will lead me to structure the synchronic and diachronic thesis to lead to right conclusions about which involve actions presented, coming to the realization as the parties reflect the social dilemmas experienced and remembered through these. / Este trabalho busca compreender a festa dos Lambe Sujos versus Caboclinhos partindo da conceitualização de festa e o que esta acopla, como brincadeiras, quebra de rotina, continuidade social e histórica, legitimidade, tomando como enfoque a performance no quesito teatral, trazendo um embasamento teórico e metodológico da aplicação de algumas ideias que surgiram no meio da pesquisa do mestrado. O objeto descrito é a festa que ocorre há mais de nove décadas na cidade de Laranjeiras em Sergipe cujo seu enredo é a luta entre negros e índios, Lambe sujos e Caboclinhos respectivamente, no entanto dentro desta narrativa existe de maneira indireta o branco, representado pelos capitães do mato como intercessores das relações com os indígenas. Assim sendo a história apresentada durante o segundo fim de semana do mês de outubro é a peleja conflituosa destas três etnias, que se desenrola com embates e uma série de símbolos e significados a serem descritos no decorrer do trabalho. Para o desenvolvimento desta pesquisa utilizarei diversos autores desde os mais clássicos aos mais contemporâneos, e se tratando de uma etnografia, será utilizada a pesquisa de campo e as aplicações de questionários semiestruturados em perguntas abertas e fechadas que serão de grande fundamentação para dar continuidade à análise, conversas informais e formais através de depoimentos e fontes historiográficas para a composição do contexto histórico e geográfico da cidade. O avanço da pesquisa atrelada à experiência e o embasamento teórico me conduzirá estruturar a dissertação sincrônica e diacronicamente para conduzir às devidas conclusões sobre as quais envolverá as ações apresentadas, chegando à conclusão de como as festas refletem os dilemas sociais vivenciados e relembrados através destas.

Krematoriet är en tvåfaldig byggnad: dels en funktionell anläggning där döda kroppar hanteras rationellt men också en byggnad med behov av känsla och ritual för att undvika att kremationen reduceras till likhantering på löpande band. Dödsritualer basereras ofta på gemensamma trosuppfattningar, något som är sällsynt i vårt postmoderna samhälle. En ledande frågeställning är hur arkitekturen kan skapa rum för mening utan att formulera egna godtyckliga ritualer eller försvåra för den praktiska verksamheten. En sista sekvens är ett krematorieprojekt som eftersträvar att skapa ritual genom rumssekvenser. Ritualens symboliska handlingar översätts till fysiska platser som passeras vid varje kremation. Hierakiskt ordnade, karaktärisktiska rum förbereder för och markererar kremationens olika steg utan att göra avsteg från det funktionella. Hypotesen är att kremationsprocessen kan upphöjas till en rumslig ritual som skapas av rumssamband och form. Varje kista som förs mot ugnen omsluts av karaktärisktiska rum: spatiala ögonblick, som skapar värdighet för den döde, tröst för de närstående och och en påminnelse till de anställda att deras arbete är viktigt. Resultatet är ett krematorium med funktionella rumssekvenser där industriella rum och passager har fått sensoriska kvaliteér. Om rumssekvenserna är starka nog för att få rituell mening är svårt att utvärdera utifrån ritningar men det föreslagna krematoriet har tydlig ambition att lyfta fram och skapa särskiljande och sensoriska rum för en industriell process. / A crematory is an ambigous structure: in part a functional facility where corpses are processed but also a building that require emotion and ritual to keep the crematory from becoming a death factory. In many cultures rites of passage are based on a common belief of what happens after death but these collective beliefs are scarce in today's post-modern society. One of the main questions in the project is how architecture can create meaningful space without inventing its own arbitrary rituals or compromising the building's functionality. Spaces of Passage is a crematory project that aims to create ritual through spatial sequences. The symbolic acts of the ritual are translated into physical places. Hierachically organised space with specific character enhance and foreshadow each step of the cremation process without sacrificing effectivness. The hypothesis is that the cremation process can be become a spatial ritual - a ritual created from form and relations. Every coffin that is transported towards the owen will pass through architectural moments, which convey a sense of dignity for the deceased, comfort for the bereaved and a a reminder that the work done at the crematory is of outmost importance. The resulting architecture is a crematory with functional spatial sequences where industrial spaces have aestetic qualities. Without studying how people interact with the actual building it is hard to evaluate if the spatial sequences have gained ritual value but the proposed crematory is indeed a clear attempt at creating emotional significance in an industrial process.

The master's thesis "The Greek Catholic Parish of St. Clement in Prague - Development and Identity" presents the history of Greek Catholic Church in relationship to the history of the church as a whole and to the matters of Eastern and Western Christian traditions up to the reunification of the Latin Church with several Eastern Churches in the form of so-called Unions. The thesis also familiarizes readers with the development and impact of these unions. This also describes the identity and traditions of the Greek Catholic Church, consisting in the tradition of Eastern Christianity fully united in communion with the Catholic Church (chapter 1). Following the general introduction into the matter, the thesis focuses on the circumstances of the parish origin, its development and life in the course of history and in context of the Czech church history in the 20th century. The next milestone described in the thesis is the year 1989 and subsequent changes (chapter 2). Furthermore, the thesis presents the organization of the Greek Catholic Church in the region of contemporary Czech Republic and its development up to the present state (chapter 3). Cette thèse a pour but de présenter en détails l’importance de la théurgie dans la philosophie de Proclus, ainsi que sa relation avec la mystagogie. Un des premiers objectifs de la recherche est d’expliciter les raisons du jaillissement de la théurgie au cours de l’Antiquité tardive. Nous présentons ainsi le cadre historique d’où émerge la notion de théurgie dans un contexte de christianisation de l’Empire à partir du IVe siècle. Il est ensuite primordial de définir clairement la théurgie, ce que les chercheurs n’ont pas fait jusqu’à maintenant, en tant qu’opération rituelle par laquelle un réceptacle matériel est animé par le divin. Puis, nous démontrons que, bien que le terme « théurgie » soit tardif, celui-ci trouve néanmoins ses racines dans la longue tradition platonicienne, de Platon lui-même jusqu’à Proclus, en passant notamment par Plotin, Porphyre et Jamblique.
À la suite du volet historique et après avoir présenté une définition claire de la notion de théurgie, il est important de préciser son statut au sein de la philosophie de Proclus, notamment en nous intéressant au passage-clef TP, I, 25 dans lequel le néoplatonicien présente la théurgie comme étant supérieure (κρείττων) à la philosophie. Nous nous intéressons ensuite à deux rites théurgiques concrets présentés dans l’œuvre proclienne en les analysant en profondeur : le rite de l’ensevelissement du corps (TP, IV, 9) et le rite de l’immortalisation d’Achille (In Remp., I, 152-152).
Après avoir exposé le lien intrinsèque de la théurgie avec la mystagogie, notamment autour de l’importance du silence (σιγή) mystique, nous développons sur les implications de la théurgie pour le système philosophique de Proclus. Nous constatons que ces implications sont monumentales et touchent une multitude d’aspects de sa pensée : le statut de l’âme, celui de la matière, l’ontologie, la primauté du véhicule (ὄχημα) de l’âme, la notion d’imagination (φαντασία), l’importance des symboles (σύμβολα et συνθήματα) et le rôle de l’amour (ἔρως). Nous terminons finalement la recherche en présentant l’héritage de Proclus, principalement à travers l’œuvre du néoplatonicien chrétien Pseudo-Denys. / This thesis has for goal to present in detail the importance of theurgy in the philosophy of Proclus, as well as his link with mystagogy. One of the first objectives is to describe the causes of the emergence of theurgy during the late Antiquity. So, we present the historical setting from where emerges the notion of theurgy in the context of the process of Christianisation of the Empire starting during the 4th century. It is after that primordial to propose a clear definition of theurgy, something that the researchers haven’t done yet, as the ritual operation by which a material receptacle is animated by the divine. Then, we demonstrate that, even if the term “theurgy” is late, it finds however his roots in the long platonic tradition, from Plato to Proclus, passing by Plotinus, Porphyry, and Iamblichus.
Following the historical aspect and after having clearly define the notion of theurgy, it is important to explain the status of theurgy in the philosophy of Proclus, especially by analyzing the crucial passage in TP, I, 25, where the Neoplatonist declares that theurgy is superior (κρείττων) to philosophy. Moreover, we examine two concrete theurgical rites presented in the Proclus’ works: the burial of the body (TP, IV, 9) and the immortalisation of Achille (In Remp., I, 152-152).
After having exposed the intrinsically relation between theurgy and mystagogy, notably with the mystical silence (σιγή), we develop the implications of theurgy in the vast philosophical system of Proclus. These implications are monumental and touch many aspects: the status of the soul, the one of the matter, the ontology, the primacy of the soul’s vehicle (ὄχημα), the notion of imagination (φαντασία), the importance of symbols (σύμβολα et συνθήματα) and the role of love (ἔρως). We finally end this research by presenting the legacy of Proclus, especially through the work of the Christian Neoplatonist Pseudo-Dionysius.

Dès les premières dynasties, le pictogramme fut dans l’écriture le prolongement des représentations figuratives naturalistes, logogrammes dans les palettes funéraires décorées protodynastiques. Ce constat nous porte à les mettre en correspondance avec l’art pariétal du néolithique nubien, le prédynastique égyptien, et celui des aires culturelles périphériques. La reconsidération des pétroglyphes en tant que symboles et idéogrammes, c’est-à-dire des mythogrammes autant que des logogrammes-phonogrammes polysémiques permet de dégager un système structurel de représentations symboliques universel dans la vallée du Nil. Essentiellement funéraire, il est organisé autour d’une nouvelle lecture en relation aux mythes fondateurs de l’Œil d’Horus/solaire, s’exprime dans des rites primitifs de revivification, de renaissance, néolithiques et prédynastiques, explicités ensuite durant les premières dynasties sur des tablettes, des sceaux-cylindres votifs, et l’onction du mort avec les sept huiles canoniques et, enfin, dans les Textes des Pyramides. Contrairement à l’idée commune d’opposition des notions de Nature-Culture, il est question de les conjuguer, de réconcilier la dualité non binaire et de voir, par exemple, les fonctions héliotrope et/ou héliophore des animaux du bestiaire soudanien, avec Sokar le faucon funéraire, les garants bienveillants des métamorphoses et de renaissance du soleil/des défunts, par ailleurs, félidés, canidés, antilopes…, investis du numineux des divinités tutélaires. À la lueur d’une nouvelle lecture du mythe “osirien” primitif de métamorphose, nous reconsidérons les conceptions sur le sacrifice animal sur des bases d’anthropologie religieuse. Loin d’une maîtrise et soumission de la nature, et d’un diffusionnisme, l’interculturalité de la pensée mythique archaïque première dans la vallée nubiano-égyptienne et des régions périphériques multiethniques implique, vis-à-vis du monde naturel et des forces spirituelles numineuses, la transculturalité des conceptions solaires et le partage pluriculturel, transhistorique des croyances résurrectionnelles polycycliques. Ainsi, les pétroglyphes d’animaux, les scènes de chasse animale, les représentations de barques, de sandales, etc., sont de nature funéraire votive, apotropaïque. / Since the beginning of the first dynasties, the pictogram in writing was the extension of naturalistic figurative representations, logograms in the decorated funerary protodynastic palettes. This statement carry us to link them with the parietal art of Neolithic Nubia, the egyptian Predynastic, and peripheral cultural areas. We have reconsidered the petroglyphs as polysemic symbols and ideograms, i.e. mythograms as well polysemic logograms-phonograms, allowing us to draw up a structural system of symbolic representations, universal in the Nile valley. Basically funerary, the system is organised around a new reading in connection with the founding of the ‘Eye of Horus’/solar myths, and express itself in primitive Neolithic and Predynastic rites of revivification, rebirth, more explicit afterwards during the first dynasties on labels, votive cylinder-seals, and anointing the deads with the seven holy canonical oils, finally in the Pyramid Texts. Contrary to the common idea which opposite the Nature-Culture notions, there is some question to combine them, to reconcile the non-binary duality and to see, for example, the heliotrope functions and/or heliophore animals of the sub-Saharan bestiary, with Sokar the funerary hawk, the benevolent guarantors for the rebirth and metamorphosis of the sun/deads; otherwise felids, canids, antelopes…, invested by the numinous of the protecting divinities. In consequence of a new reading of the primitive ‘osirian’ myth of metamorphosis, we have reconsidered the conceptions about animal sacrifice on the basis of religious anthropology. Far from bringing under control and submission of nature, and diffusionnism, the intercultural (cross-cultural) of the first archaic mythic thought in the multi-ethnic nubian-egyptian valley and associated neighbouring areas involves, towards the natural world and the numinous spiritual strengths, the cross-cultural of solar conceptions and multicultural, trans-historic sharing of the polycyclic resurrectional believes. Thus, the animal petroglyphs, cynegetic scenes, boats and sandals representations, etc., are of funerary votive, apotropaic nature.

This qualitatively oriented Practical Theology research journey, informed by postmodernism and social constructionism, was based on a narrative enquiry into the healing and renegotiation of identity of five "faithful spouses" post infidelity and divorce. These conversations occurred within a small group context, where narratives were spoken and witnessed (pastoral therapeutic gatherings), and were aimed at enabling the participants to remember and re-author preferred identities and new ways of being. This dissertation attempts to bring together the narratives of the participants, the literature, narrative therapy and pastoral care.
My research curiosity was prompted by my mother's experience of divorce, and by the myriad number of conversations I have had with both "infidels" and "faithful spouses" in my pastoral practice. This research journey examines the process of co-creating, along with my fellow travellers (research participants), a viable model of divorce recovery in the face of infidelity and divorce. / Practical Theology / M.Th.
