Právní aspekty ochrany před radonem / Legal aspects of protection against radon

Fojtíková, Olga January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to present legal instruments used by the state to protect citizens from indoor radon and its decay products, to assess their effectiveness and to indicate possible pitfalls in their application. The paper first describes the radon issue from the perspective of natural sciences, introduces the unique Czech approach - the Radon Program, and describes handling of the issue by the state administration. The main emphasis is put on the development of related legislation, especially in the field of atomic and building law, where the state's approach to guidance levels is critically evaluated and where some recommendations for building management are mentioned. The legislation is also closely associated with the provision of state subsidies for anti-radon measures. Current developments are evaluated and options potentially leading to an improved effectiveness of this instrument are outlined. From a practical point of view, the paper is complemented by a case report based on private law and the related protection by civil law instrument.

Interdependence between Tones, Segments, and Phonation types in Shanghai Chinese : acoustics, articulation, perception, and evolution / Interdépendance entre tons, segments et types de phonation en shanghaïen : acoustique, articulation, perception et évolution

Gao, Jiayin 21 May 2015 (has links)
This study bears on the phonetic correlates of the yin vs. yang tone registers of Shanghai Chinese as spoken in Shanghai urban area. Our acoustic, articulatory, and perceptual investigations showed that beside F0, multidimensional cues, such as voicing (voiced for yang vs. voiceless for yin), duration pattern (low C/V ratio for yang vs. high C/V ratio for yin), and phonation type (breathy for yang vs. modal for yin) enter in the specification of tone register. Among all these cues, we attempt to distinguish the redundant features related to coarticulatory effects from those that are remnants of diachronic changes. In particular, the breathy voice accompanying yang tones, which was a distinctive feature in a previous state of the language and has now become a redundant feature, arose from a tonal evolution, namely the transphonologization of a voicing contrast into a tone register contrast, that is, the “tone split.” We propose that the loss of a redundant arisen from a diachronic change may be very slow if that feature does not oppose to coarticulatory effects and/or if that feature has a perceptual function.Based on the synchronic data from the speakers of two generations (20-30 years vs. 60-80 years), we find a trend toward the loss of this breathy phonation. We also find that this evolution is more advanced in women than men of the same age. In our study, we try to explain this change by internal factors as well as by external factors.

On these cases, we verified the adoptee s difficulty to filiate with the adoptive mothers, wich caused great suffering, while they affectively approached the adoptive fatherss without any apparent setbacks. For that reason, to contribute to the development of the work whith older than four year old children s adoption (here refered as older child adoption ), preparing the adoptees and assisting the adoptive parents on the filiation process, we sought to identify these filiations particularities. Furthermore, we analyzed how the maternity and paternity was experienced on the adaptation period and, more, and the relation of the couple regarding the will to adopt related to the child s interaction with the adoptive figures. Thereunto, we conducted a psychoanalytic approach s reaseach, analysing adaptation periods attendance reports. As results, regarding the adoptive children, we verified that the precariousness on experiencing the parental imago s mourning affects the emotional reinvestment upon the new maternal figures. As for the adoptive families, we noticed that the difficulties experiencing the biological child s mourning interferes on the adoptive filiation. Especially, for the adoptive mothers, it required mourn being a mother as being the son s primary love object, since, because of the child s development, he will demand a different relationship pattern than the one experienced with a baby. Upon the findings, we hope to contribute to the development of new knowledge to base te adoptive families preparation, essential to the adoptions success.

In the context of physical disability, the involvement of a child in chronic pathology refers the family to a re-dimensioning of aspects such as: professional, financial, social and emotional. This dissertation focuses on paternity in the context of Cerebral Palsy (CP) of a child with the objective of understanding paternal involvement in the context of CP in the light of Systemic Theory. The nature of this research is qualitative and involved five parents whose children have a diagnosis of CP. They responded to a semi-structured interview, through a script, which was analyzed according to the Thematic Content Analysis. The understanding of the experience of being and feeling the father of a disabled child was based on the construct Paternal Involvement, according to the dimension of the behavior of the father via interaction, accessibility and responsibility. The empirical categories were two thematic areas: a) the family system and the CP: from the process of building paternity to changes in the system; and b) systemic understanding of parental involvement. The main results showed that: 1) the predominant family configuration was nuclear, with the father, in general, being the main provider and the companion dedicating to the care with the child; 2) the news of the diagnosis was received with surprise, sadness and shock; 3) the child's illness caused changes in the organization of the family routine and in the conjugality of the parents; 4) the parents were involved in the care of the child, from the gestational period, with the exception of one of them; 5) everyone said they were available to meet the needs of the child, basically at times when they are present at home; 6) they pointed to work as an impediment to availability, especially in rehabilitation care, and it was remarkable the lack of involvement of the extended family in their support role; 7) parents were unanimous in claiming changes in their way of being and in the conception of life, which promoted their growth and personal maturation; 8) in the field of care, these parents can be characterized as agents inserted in the treatment, even if the majority do not participate systematically in consultations and rehabilitation sessions, 9) the professionals were generally perceived as people who did not offer sufficient incentives for parental participation in the field of care, since they directed the practices and discourses to the maternal figure; 10) despite the difficulties faced, paternal involvement in this context was evaluated as positive. The systematicity, quality and intensity of involvement varied from a more operative involvement and involvement (with supposed less affective involvement) to a participation with a qualitatively different involvement. It is necessary to revisit discourses and practices of the health team to know the stimulus to paternal participation, empowering the family in the field of care. It is pointed out the need for future research to broaden and deepen the understanding of parental involvement in the context of deficiencies and in the new family configurations, allowing the creation of spaces where these men can be listened and stimulated to express themselves, empowering the family, co-responsible in building bonds.

The reported shared experiences of six single mothers raising sons

Twaddell, Karen G. 01 January 2008 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this research was to explore the life of single-mothers raising boys. The focus of this research was to provide information of life experiences for women who raised sons by themselves. The study also showed effects of divorce on single-mothers, pointed out experiences specific to raising boys, and looked at the issue of support. The study involved interviewing divorced single-mothers with standard, open-ended questions about raising boys. The questions discussed such issues as their relationships with their sons, and what types of support, if any, they had while they raised their sons. Participants included single-mothers who had not remarried, who were college graduates and whose language of communication was English. The interviews were then recorded and transcribed. The findings indicate that support to the mother does matter. The majority of the mothers interviewed had support for themselves and for their child. In most of the cases where support was offered, the primary figure was another female. In two-thirds of the cases, the other adult support figure was the grandmother. In one other case, it was the mother's daughter. Much of the literature states that outcomes on the lives of boys raised by single divorced mothers should be heavily impacted by problems in their lives (Amato & Keith, 1991). The 6 boys of the mothers interviewed here were not. While 4 of the mothers also had girls, certain issues were specific to raising boys. While 3 of the boys were young, 3 were over the age of 18 and their lives had not followed the prevailing research. This study indicated that for this particular group of single-mothers, support from others, determination and hard work on the part of the mothers, have made a difference in the lives of their sons. By providing support to the mother, support was made available to the son.

Manlike identiteit: `n begeleidingsraamwerk vir vaders en hul seuns / Male identity : a guiding framework for fathers and their sons

Grobler, Hermanus Bosman 30 November 2006 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / This study is aimed at the development of a guiding framework for fathers and their adolescent sons by focusing on male identity as the main binding factor in the relationship between father a and son. The establishment, as well as the confusion regarding male identity, have been stated as starting point and problem statement of the study. The need regarding the way in which the father and son can be guided within this dynamic relationship in order to establish male identity, has been stated as motivation for the study. The need regarding the guidance of fathers and their sons was thus the primary aim with the research question, namely what the most applicable factors in a guiding framework should be that would guide fathers and their sons in order to support the formation of male identity within the sons. The research methodology that has been followed, was from a Gestalt perspective as meta theoretical assumption from which qualitative, explorative and descriptive strategies were followed. The qualitative strategy consisted of an auto-ethnography and semi-structured interviews. The trustworthiness of the research has been strengthened by a quantitative component of the research by utilizing questionnaires, after which data was collected and analysed. A purposive sample was drawn that included respondents from the Drakenstein municipal area in the Boland district. Categories that were identified from data from the semi-structured interviews, as well as indicators from the questionnaires, have been integrated, from which propositions were constructed. Six themes and resulting guiding strategies were presented in the form of a guiding framework. / Social Work / D.Diac. (Spelterapie)

Exploring the construction of white male identity in selected novels by J.M. Coetzee

Dent, Jacqueline Elizabeth May 30 November 2007 (has links)
Coetzee's own experience of living in apartheid South Africa provides the backdrop for novels infused with sardonic irony and rich metaphoric systems. In modes of metafiction that emphasize the destructive and violent nature of language, he optimizes his unique oeuvre to interrogate global, national and domestic power relations. This dissertation relies on psychoanalytical theories that examine microstructures of power within the individual, and in his domestic domain. Each of Coetzee's chief protagonists carries a secret related to a dysfunctional mother/son relationship. This hampers their psychosocial dynamics, their masculinity and sexuality. As they respectively strive toward an elusive new life they confront patriarchal power structures that speak on behalf of individuals, '[whose] descent into powerlessness [is] voluntary' (Coetzee 2007: 4-5). Coetzee's constructed white males perform their several identity roles in milieux that span divergent phases of colonial history. His critique points to white patriarchal hegemonic ideological discourses that bespeak the self/other dichotomy in a postcolonial world where the language of dominance supports an oppressive status quo. / English Studies / M.A. (English)

The role of the emotional father-son relationship in the self-concept formation of adolescent boys in secondary schools

Pitsoane, Enid Manyaku January 1900 (has links)
The study investigated adolescent boys who experienced behavioural problems at school and the possible causes for these phenomena. It was evident that the adolescent boys who experienced behavioural problems were found to lack emotional connections with others due to their fathers’ absence and lack of positive attachment. A total of 403 adolescent boys from various schools in the Tshwane districts were used in the sample group. This quantitative study employed the use of a quantitative questionnaire as a means of data collection that included qualitative open-ended question as a method to enrich the quantitative data and obtain insight into the life world functioning and experience of the participants. The primary aim of the research study was to determine the emotional relationship between fathers and sons within the sample group. Secondly, the study sought to investigate how this emotional relationship affects the adolescent boy’s self-concept, resilience and motivational aspects in his daily functioning. The approach to quantitative data analysis was by means of descriptive statistical analysis. The findings revealed that emotionally absent fathers indeed impact negatively on the adolescent boys’ resilience and motivational aspects of their functioning and that a father’s absence has a significant influence on the behaviours of adolescent boys in relation to motivation and resilience. However, the research results also revealed that an emotionally absent father does not significantly affect the self–concept of an adolescent boy. Finally, an intervention programme was developed to assist and guide fathers and adolescent boys to improve their relationship with one another. / Psychology of Education / D. Ed.
