Max Schoendorff (1934-2012) : l’atelier, laboratoire de l’œuvre / Max Schoendorff’s Workshop as a Creative Laboratory

Zeraffa, Martine 07 December 2018 (has links)
The study of MS’s multivocal work is carried out through an on-site investigation of his workshop. The place, which reflects his philosophy, is full of materials, images, objects, and books. It bears testimony to his numerous activities. Indeed writing a monograph of the artist amounts to performing archeological fieldwork and excavation in his studio. Schoendorff studied classical literature, was well-versed on the subject of German culture, and enjoyed transgressing boundaries. As early as 1950, he was labelled as a committed artist together with RP and a small group of intellectuals and creators/designers from Lyon. Heconsidered himself as the initiator of cultural decentralization. He later devoted himself to painting and managed to create his own artistic language based on the surrealist imaginary world, Max Ernst’s production, and the metamorphic alteration of predominantly organic matter. His personal conception of art is expressed in his protean works which include paintings, engravings, books, and spectatorial scenography. A socio-political libertarian and utopian, he founded the MAPRA (Maison des arts plastiques Rhône-Alpes), the R-A Fine Arts Agency and the URDLA, the International Book and Lithography Centre (Centreinternational estampe et livre) in Villeurbanne.

MIGNATTI, ALESSANDRA 15 April 2013 (has links)
The object of this research is the whole of the celebrations and preparations connected with the passage of Maria Theresa of Austria and the solemn entry of Archbishop Stampa into Milan in 1739, both exemplifications of the 18th century first half civic rituality and public ceremonials, and representations which engaged the city. A confrontation has also been made with the possesso of Maria Theresa, enacted in absentia in 1741. By means of a comparative analysis of the primary sources – printed, hamdwritten and ichnographic as well – it has been possible to reconstruct the role of etiquette norms, ceremonials and of the entire dramaturgy of festival events. The research has also brought to light the apparati set up by the Collegio dei Giureconsulti, so far ignored by studies. It has highlighted rhetorical mechanisms, actions, representational aspects which remain, some of them pertaining to the archetype sphere. Even if simplified, the ceremonials still show a strong cult of regality. The triumphal entry proves to be a meaningful moment to bring the city back to the imaginary of the origins which constitutes its identity and to renovate a new era. The necessity of the feast, of ritualistic moments of representation and auto representation is pointed out; and also the dramaturgic and not ornamental role of decorative elements like the baldachin, the arch, the carriage, the portrait, in a culture which conferred great value to images.

Nogueira, Emilliano Alves de Freitas 19 December 2014 (has links)
This research has started on pondering over the scenic area in contemporary dance real-time composition. The scenic area, while articulating the scene, congregates architectural space, scenic space and bodies-spaces (interpreters) interdependently. This makes this interrelation as a condition for the outcome of choreographic layers produced in the creation process in the real-time composition, which are also necessary as an artistic object. Thus, the research aims at contextualizing and conceptualizing in a interdisciplinary way the research areas (scenic area and real-time composition) using theoretical remarks on research methodology in arts, contemporary dance, architecture, visual arts and scenography. In practice, this research has pondered overan experience, the performance Sobre pontos, retas e planos [About points, lines and planes], created by the Dramaturgia do Corpo- Espaço e Territorialidade research group [Body-space Dramaturgy and Territoriality], which was presented in five different places in the city of Uberlândia / Essa pesquisa tem como ponto de partida uma reflexão acerca do espaço cênico na composição em tempo real em dança contemporânea.

When the scenography becomes urban : Nantes as an observatory of the scenographer's functions in the city fabric

Gangloff, Emmanuelle 07 December 2017 (has links)
Based on the current effervescence of scenography in the creative environment , this work proposes to study the appearance of a specific function around the concept of urban scenography in the fabric of the contemporary city. Since the 1980s, in a context of the development of event, creative and cultural city, we are witnessing a multiplication of ephemeral artistic proposals deploying scenographic devices in the public space that evolve modes of action of the actors of the urban factory (cultural operators, artists, public managers and developers). Between theater and public space, stage and city, we will trace the origins of the scenography and then take an interest in the Nantes scene, which is considered here as a laboratory of different forms that can take urban scenography. Infact, in urban space, it is an identifying an emerging professional group, the scenographers, about the evolution of their practices outside the theater. Then, by tightening the focus on a territory, we characterize more specifically the function of urban scenography in its contemporary meaning reflecting an evolution of the place of artistic creation in the urban factory. A larger scale, this study calls into question the production of urban spaces, revealing tension between functional necessity and the conception of sensitive spaces. Between artistic and dynamic recovery, this research informs us about an embodiment of the contemporary city at the interface between town planning of entertainment and artistic utopia.

Bermann, Mathieu 15 November 2013 (has links)
At the same time, La Fontaine’s Contes provoke antagonistic reactions, from rejection to emulation - which is a singularity in the poet’s work. La Fontaine doesn’t hide that he takes liberties with moral standards and versification’s rules, but his licences don’t fall within the transgression : they are derogations granted by aristocratic readers.Firstly, we determine the place of the licence in the normative set of classical esthetic. As a tolerated deviation, the licence isn’t limited to poetry : it potentially applies to any norm of classical esthetic, according to the criteria used to judge the text. Our study analyzes the part occupied by the licence in the state of mind of aristocratic readers of Contes. Also examining other tale’s writers contemporaries of La Fontaine who consider him a model, this study shows how the text built its legitimacy by diverting forms of writing or thinking that are usual to the aristocratic public. La Fontaine seeks to establish connivance with the reader. He appropriates genres appreciated by the aristocratic public and invents a scenography making the reader an accomplice of immoral text. La Fontaine diverts also the lifestyle of its readers : leisure. He gives an erotic version of otium. Within this analysis, we will discover what is the contribution of Contes in La Fontaine’s anthropology.

The scene fitter and the preception of stagecraft: a reflection on the work of Sebastiano Serlio

Vania Cristina Cerri 02 May 2011 (has links)
Identification and reconstitution of the precepts of stagecraft in the Italian sixteenth century, from the exegetical analysis of the \"Treaty on the scene\", belonging to the work Of architecture and perspective, of the bolognese architect and preceptor, Sebastiano Serlio. The scrutinizing of the three ancient genres of scenes - tragedy, comedy and satire - normalized by Serlio from Vitruvius writing about architecture, aim modifications and adaptations according to the proposition of the \'modern scene\', whose subject matter has its foundations in painting and architecture, from which it distinguishes itself by being proper subject to the performing arts. The scene, three-dimensional and perspective, adorned with reliefs and various materials, is characterized by volumes with which the characters interact, becoming appropriate space to stage action, convenient to the genre and apparatuses. Extending beyond the preception and confection of scenic devices, amplifies the architectural ingenium, by prescribing distinct corporal actions in the figure of characters in motion, qualifying it as matter of scenic representation, even if not yet recognized as autonomous art.

Lina Bo Bardi : [experiências] entre arquitetura, artes plásticas e teatro / Lina Bo Bardi: experiences between architecture, fine arts and theatre

Carolina Leonelli 20 May 2011 (has links)
The dissertation correlates architeture, fine arts and theatre and how these subjects arise in Lina Bo Bardi´s work. Starting from the study of the scenical projects created between 1960 and 1985 and broaching the director´s and theatrical groups involved on it, this treatise tries to identify the projectual proceedings applied by the architect, as well as the relations established with her work and investigating possible links with with the nacional and international artistic panorama. The analysis of the urban dimension reached by some of the studied plays as well as its approach with the project and the activities developed at the museums to which Lina was related (especially to the São Paulo Art Museum - MASP, to the Bahia´s Modern Art Museum and to the Unhão Popular Art Museum) takes us to possible relations between architecture, fine arts and theatre. It also takes us to possible reflexions on the projectual preceedings adopted and the descried perspectives for architecture, or to what Lina called as a \"re-proposition non perfectionist of the rationalism\".

L'espace marionnettique, lieu de théâtralisation de l'imaginaire / The space in contemporary Puppet arts : a theatre of imagination

Garré Nicoară, Marie 07 December 2013 (has links)
This thesis aims at dealing with the topic of Space in Puppet Art, through a various corpus of contemporary productions (compagnie Philippe Genty – Ilka Schönbein – Théâtre La Licorne – Turak Théâtre). It considers the puppet space and its key issues in terms of creative « fade-in » process of the bodies, and of theatricalisation of imagination, and explores the status and place of its audience. The puppet, as a figure which carries an « elsewhere », establishes also a new imaginary space. Such process of theatricalisation is produced by an illusion related to animation, by a « new deal » between stage and public, or by a mise en abyme which builds a dialogue between liveless and living being. The thesis pays also attention to the way traditional devices are re-invested and re-invented on contemporary stages: shadow theatre screen, Bunraku table, puppet playhouse and stage. It examines, in an anthropological, scenographical and poïetical approach, how space is marked by a dynamic between different scales. In other terms, it explores how this new imaginary sphere can be produced by such a space, frequently impregnated by a dialectical relationship between the Inside and the Outside, or by a scenic organization founded both on showing and hiding, or on the entrenchment of different reading levels of scenic image. And how, considering on-sight manipulation, which is a current and central practice in modern puppet theatre, the puppetry space becomes a real « relational » space, as it becomes a place where the body is interrogated.

Crafty Crib : Drömmen om ett förstahandskontrakt

Clarén, Storm Philippa January 2020 (has links)

An actual house

Gaard, Trina January 2022 (has links)
When having travelled one returns to, or revisits, a place. Unaware of the personal transformation that has occurred, one realizes the change when confronted with familiar things. In a desire to understand what objects and places mean to people, the project An actual house looks at three objects from a childhood home: a staircase, a window and a curtain and their relation to memory and autonomic consciousness. It reflects upon the importance of memory and imagination in art, architecture, and design - memory as well as imagination as a tool to create a different future. This art-practice-based work uses a hybrid form method. Exploring phenomenology trough writing, creating objects from memory and conveying the work to a perceptible form in a curated exhibition. It wants to contribute to a discussion on the relation between humans, objects and places in time.
