Net Positive WaterMa, Billy January 2013 (has links)
‘Net Positive Water’ explores the capability of domestic architecture to combat the developing urban water problem. Urban intensification is contributing to the volatility of urban waters and the breakdown of the urban water cycle. Inhabitant water misuse and overconsumption is overwhelming aging municipal utilities, resulting in the decay of urban water quality.
LEEDTM and The Living Building Challenge are recognized Green Building Guidelines prescribing sustainable site and building water standards. Case Studies of domestic Green Building projects will showcase water conservation to enable domestic water renewal. Net Zero Water Guidelines based on the Green Building Guidelines outline
Potable and Non-Potable water use to achieve a sustainable volume of water demand at 70 litres per capita per day. Sustainable water practices are encouraged by utilizing domestic building systems to increase water
value and water awareness. Time-of-Use and Choice-of-Use exposure for household water related tasks establish water savings through the use of best-performing water fixtures and appliances.
Net Positive Water Guidelines will establish On-site and Building standards for sustainable harvesting and storage of water resources. Clean and Dirty water management will prescribe Passive design and Active mechanical processes to maintain best-available water quality in the urban domestic environment. Net Positive Water building typology will integrate urban inhabitation as a functional component of the urban water cycle to use, reuse, and renew water resources. The method will be
tested using a Mid-rise Pilot project to deploy the necessary Passive and Active mechanisms to generate Net Positive Water quality through Net Zero Water sustainable water use. The pilot project is situated in
Waterfront Toronto - The Lower Don Lands development to harness regional interests for water renewal and environmental revitalization.

Aspects of moral education in Bhaca mamtiseni and nkciyo initiation rituals / Makaula P.NMakaula, Phiwe Ndonana January 2010 (has links)
The main objective of this mini–dissertation is to investigate the basic form and
content of moral education as it manifests itself in the mamtiseni and nkciyo
female initiation rituals of the Mount Frere region of the Eastern Cape Province of
the Republic of South Africa. The main theoretical position taken is the reemergent
African Renaissance coupled with African indigenous knowledge
systems, first revived by (former) President Thabo Mbeki. Accordingly the main
purpose of this study is to address the transmission of moral aspects of female
Bhaca initiation inherent in behavioural/cultural educational enculturation.
The main findings of the mini–dissertation constitute the following:
1. Mamtiseni and nkciyo rituals play a major role in the enculturation of
young Bhaca girls.
2. The song texts carry strong messages of how to go about achieving a
healthy and surviving society.
There are further opportunities for research in the following aspects:
1. Nkciyo initiation schools are very exclusive, involving many secret codes.
The fact that I am a male put me at a disadvantage.
2. There are many more points of difference between the two rituals than
meets the eye. / Thesis (M.Mus.)--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2011.

中國經濟制度變化之研究,1977-1987:歷史制度論之政治經濟分析 / The Study of Changing Economy in China, 1977-1987: A Political-Economic Analysis of Historical Institutionalism李守正, Lee, Francis Shou-Jang Unknown Date (has links)
8 years after the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, the Chinese Communist Party claimed that socialist reform has been successfully conducted. Public ownership and planned economy replaced mixed economy as well as private ownership. In the end of 1970s, however, a series of economic reform challenged public ownership with planned economy, which leads China enter into a mixed ownership economy.
This thesis attempts to sort out the forces and consequences that drive economic reform. Through the transition of economic system, which leads China’s economy into a no return road.
In fact, economic reform in China is an unexpected result by political regulators. Originally, it did not have a blueprint to lead the way. The direction from public ownership to mixed economy emerged throughout the reform, which is not a common consensus from the political leaders. Instead, it is dominated by history, political system as well as regulator in a dynamic way. This path dependency with institutional heritage character is the spot light of economic reform.
The author claims the importance and direction of this reform is dominated by external factor. The most importance factor that change China’s economic is the launch of dual system. This system, with the slogan of “crossing the river by groping the stones along the way,” is proposed by CHEN Yun and approved by Deng Xiao-Ping.
The introduction of concept is an important factor through the reform, which can be seemed from the process during the promotion of Special Economic Zones SEZs. When political regulators received outer concept and launched SEZs, internal diversity emerged that blocking the reform. Conflicts between orthodoxy and reformist can be seemed throughout reform period, influencing the forces and consequences of China’s economic system.

VÝZVA JMÉNEM VENKOV / CHALLENGE NAMED COUNTRYSIDEKlumparová, Petra January 2019 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the topic of contemporary countryside. The result of the thesis - illustrative Manual originated from searching for the basic principles in the area of land-use planning. It focuses especially on urban issues and tries to answer some of them in a comprehensible form. Manual consists mostly of schematics, sketches, visualizations, etc. The issue of new construction and the so-called satellites become one of the key issues. The Manual offers an alternative for this land-grabbing style and it motivates to create a better environment. The basic principles are applied to a specific municipality. Consultation with nine village mayors could be considered as the added value of the work. Mayors shared their experience in building and planning and gave feedback on some chapters. Interesting mayor's remarks are are incorporated in the Manual. The appendix to the manual – Good Practice Examples brings inspiration for creation of regional architecture. The intention is to offer this Manual to all of those who are involved in the management of smaller municipalities.
