Previous issue date: 2011-02-17 / This study aimed to investigate how a teacher negotiates the contract with teaching students in the 2nd year of high school, in the implementation of a didactic sequence previously established for the teaching of Arithmetic Progression (AP). The didactic sequence was designed considering the type of didactic situations proposed by Brousseau (action, formulation, validation and institutionalization). Thus, the activities aimed at teaching sequence that enable your application to be performed according to a didactic contract type approximation, which is one in which value is an active student in constructing knowledge. The observed results showed that although we proposed a sequence to be applied as a kind of didactic contract approximate; negotiations, renegotiations and breaks the rules of the didactic contract were made during the development of the sequence. We believe that these breaches of the rules were motivated by previous marks of didactic contract, or implicit and explicit rules by which teacher and students were accustomed.

Expressão numérica: a hierarquia das quatro operações matemáticas / Numerical expressions: the hierarchy of the four mathematical operationsOttes, Aline Brum 06 December 2016 (has links)
For the development of this work, in the introduction we present a few topics which motivated it, as well as the research problem and its reason. The main objective of this dissertation is to research on the possible reasons for the hierarchy of the four mathematical operations. With this purpose, we attempted to verify if there were some explanations for such hierarchy. Thus, we researched on national and international sites. On this search, we found two articles of interest, namely: “the order of operation in elementary arithmetic” and the thesis “the school mathematics knowledge: operations with the natural numbers in the grade and middle school”, which were formulated comments about them. This research is classified as qualitative and bibliographical descriptive. In the chapter about the theory we presented how the subject numerical expression is explained in some official documents, as well as in textbooks of the Middle School. Since we have not found any reasonable and plausible explanation for such hierarchy, we included a chapter about a historical retrospective on the order of operations and the use of the parenthesis which, in turn, prepared the way for the chapter on a proposal to justify the why of the hierarchy for the four mathematical operations.

Previous issue date: 2006-10-04 / The present work is to identify and to analyse the beliefs, conceptios and
abilities of teachers who teach from first to fourth grade of Basic Education
working with arithmetical expressions.
In this study we noticed that, the comprehension of a particular groups of
situation problems called by mixed structures. In these problems, we have additive
and multiplicative structures that happen in the same time. The mathematical
sentence that represents a problem like this, is an arithmetical expression.
This work is based on the theory about conceptual fields of Gerard
Vergnaud linked in ideas of Nóvoa and Ponte. A handle descriptive study was
developed by an alaboration and aplication of an instrumental diagnosis, put in
practice by seventy teachers from four schools that work with basic education in
São Bernardo do Campo.
The instrument was composed by three parts: (1) outline; (2) conception
and (3) ability. The analysis of the obtainned results was realized in agreement
that the way the instrument was prepared.
The results showed that teachers didn t perceive the arithmetical
conception as a mathematical model that represents a situation problem; they
realized it as a calculation set. In relation to ability, we certify that teachers found a
huge problem to make an effort that envolve a doble conceptual field in mixed
structures. It follows that teachers didn t have the necessarily knowledge about
additive and multiplicative structures / O presente trabalho teve por objetivo identificar e analisar as crenças,
Nestes problemas temos Estrutura Aditiva e Estrutura Multiplicativa ocorrendo
concomitantemente.
Quanto a

Cohomologia Local: noções básicas e aplicaçõesCosta, Diego Alves da 03 February 2017 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The purpose of this dissertation is to introduce the notion of local cohomology as
well as some of its applications. Initially, we performed a brief review on the main
homological tools used in this work, such as: homology of a complex, isomorphism of
complexes, injective resolutions, derived functors, etc. Next, we detail properties of
the injective modules in the context of Noetherian rings. Finally, we present di erent
ways of de ning local cohomology and we show how this notion is used to investigate
the arithmetical rank of an ideal.

Some Generalized Fermat-type Equations via Q-Curves and ModularityBarroso de Freitas, Nuno Ricardo 22 October 2012 (has links)
The main purpose of this thesis is to apply the modular approach to Diophantine equations to study some Fermat-type equations of signature (r; r; p) with r >/= 5 a fixed prime and “p” varying. In particular, we will study equations of the form x(r) + y(r) = Cz(p), where C is an integer divisible only by primes “q” is non-identical to 1; 0 (mod “r”) and obtain explicit arithmetic results for “r” = 5, 7, 13.
We start with equations of the form x(5) + y(5) = Cz(p). Firstly, we attach two Frey curves E; F defined over Q(square root 5) to putative solutions of the equation.
Then by using the work of J. Quer on embedding problems and on abelian varieties attached to Q-curves we prove that the p-adic Galois representations attached to E, F can be extended to p-adic representations E), (F) of Gal(Q=Q). Finally, we apply Serre's conjecture to the residual representations (E), (F) and using Siksek's multi-Frey technique we conclude that the initial solution can not exist.
We also describe a general method for attacking infinitely many equations of the form x(r) + y(r) = Cz(p) for all r>/= 7. The method makes use of elliptic curves over totally real fields, modularity and irreducibility results for representations attached to elliptic curves and level lowering theorems for Hilbert modular forms. Indeed, for each fixed “r” we produce several Frey curves defined over K+, the maximal totally real subfield of Q(xi-r). Moreover, if “r” is of the form 6k + 1 we prove the existence of a Frey curve defined over K(0) the subfield of K(+) of degree k. We prove also an irreducibility result for the mod “p” representations attached to certain elliptic curves and a modularity statement for elliptic curves over totally real abelian number fields satisfying some local conditions at 3. Finally, for r = 7 and r = 13 we are able to compute the required spaces of (Hilbert) newforms and by applying our general methods we obtain explicit arithmetic results for equations of signature (7; 7; p) and (13; 13; p).
We end by providing two more Frey k-curves (a generalization of Q-curve), where “k” is a certain subfield of K(+), when “r” is a fixed prime of the form 4m+1.

Previous issue date: 2002-10-30 / This research has as objective to get a systematic diagnosis of the main errors and
difficulties revealed for pupils of Basic Ensino and Average Ensino in the simplification of
arithmetical and algebraic fractions. They had been selected, for the inquiry, one 8ª series
of Basic Ensino and one 1ª series of Average Ensino of two public schools of the Region
West, of the city of São Paulo. We assume as referencial theoretician the happened ones of
research where Algebra, in these levels of education, must search its beddings in the laws
of the Arithmetic. However, it does not reduce it to a generalization of these laws, a time
that algebraic the conceptual system incorporates elements and Inter-relations with proper
characteristics. The data had been gotten by means of period of training in a classroom of
each one of the mentioned series, application of a test and interviews. The main
conclusions point with respect to one high number of errors in the simplification of
algebraic fractions that disclose a incompreensão of the formal rules that regulate these
transformations. Between these, a predominance of errors due to a generalization of rules
of a situation for another one occurs, without an analysis of the conditions that validate this
generalization. They disclose in the treatment of the arithmetical expressions a
predominance of automatically carried through computational procedures, without a
reflection on the nature of the task proposal; they indicate, still, an absence of integration
As

Previous issue date: 2009-10-15 / Secretaria da Educação do Estado de São Paulo / The purpose of this study was to investigate the way the teacher conceives a transition between the developed arithmetical concepts to an introduction of algebraic representation in the first grades of Elementary School and also which are the actions that he or she will unleash in order for this transition or passage to happen. So, the teacher s conceptions were researched as for the problem elaboration of additive and multiplicative structures, as well as competences related to the solving of certain problem and its algebraic representation as basis in a simple linear equation. For such, the theoretical foundation used was the Conceptual Fields Theory from Gerard Vernaud, focusing specifically on the Additive and Multiplicative Conceptual Fields, and also the ideas from Ponte (1992) and Tall & Vinner (1981). The research methodological approach is qualitative, making use of statistical instruments to show the data analyzed. As for the purpose it is descriptive with diagnostic outlining, having as a diagnosing tool an inquiry. For the data survey, two kinds of inquiries, being one for the teachers working in the first grades of Elementary School and other for students of the teaching credential course in Pedagogy. These inquiries correspond to three different parts, being, (1) Profile, (2) Conceptions and (3) Competences. The analysis of the obtained result was done quantitative and qualitatively and following the same order in which the tools were composed. The results showed that the teachers conceive problems related to additive structures to groups of Composition and Transformation of two measures. For the multiplicative structures the problems were elaborated basically of quaternary structures. In relation to the competences, the subjects are more familiar and have more familiarity when dealing with arithmetical representations, having a complex competence in relation to the algebraic focus that might be classified as an elementary competence / Este estudo teve por objetivo investigar a maneira pela qual o professor concebe uma transição entre os conceitos aritméticos desenvolvidos para uma introdução da representação algébrica nas séries iniciais do Ensino Fundamental e também quais são as ações que este desencadeará para que tal transição ou passagem seja efetuada.

Previous issue date: 2007-05-22 / The comprehension of written texts continues being one of the most difficult academic
practices for students of Basic Education. If comprehending a written material in linguistic
terms brings out difficulties for some students, a text written in mathematical language can be
even more difficult, because besides the mother language understanding, mathematical
concepts are also needed. A lot of research has been done to try to find better ways to help
children understand what was asked in mathematical problem-questions. However, there is a
lot to be done to understand the difficulties and processes of problem resolution and about
basic conceptual comprehension present in mathematical problems instructions. In this sense,
the purpose of the present study was to elaborate, apply and evaluate an intervention program
performed with children in the fourth year of Elementary School who showed difficulties
comprehending and solving mathematical problems, and maximize their cognitive capacity.
The methodology chosen was the experimental delineation of comparison between groups, an
experimental and a control group. The study consisted of a pretest, an intervention program, a
post-test and a delayed post-test. The pretest evaluated the children s performance in
resolving arithmetical problems. Next, the teaching program was used with students who
showed performance under 40% right in problems. This aimed to develop, in the students,
enough knowledge to increase their resolution capacity of mathematical problems. That
program sought to teach students to read mathematical problems instructions and find the
most appropriate mathematical representation to solve the question. For this, it was necessary
to teach the arithmetical operations concepts, since one of the children s difficulties was
connected with understanding the meaning of each operation (addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division) and its symbolic representation. The post-test and delayed posttest
results for the experimental group were superior to the pretest results for the experimental
and control groups, indicating an improvement in performance for the students who took part
in the program. Those data showed that the intervention utilized was efficient, increasing the
cognitive capacity necessary to the task of resolving arithmetical problems, which basically
consists of comprehending written instructions and representing them mathematically.
