For an socio-anthropology of the family secret : the impact of family myth on the socialization of the individual by the revelation of a family secretGrobost, Aline 14 December 2012 (has links)
The first family secret quoted by the people questioned by questionnaire is that of filiation. The people born in the secret (or born under X*) are recipients of a secret imposed by legislation, that of their biological origins. If in addition, this adoption was hidden from them by their family, as is the case of the people met in the context of this research, the consequence is a all the more violent in terms of suffering as the revelation will have been late. Family loyalty forces members to repeat family events and forces them to pay for the faults of their ancestors. The family lives lockecl up in family myth which prescribes the laws and rules to be respected. And so, after the revelation, the person recipient of the secret will refuse these laws and rules ; he or she will be marginalized by his or her family and dialogue, or even all relations with his or her family, will be broken. Thus, he or she was released from the laws and rules prescribed by family myth and from any form of loyalty with respect to his or her family. This exclusion will enable him or her to become sociable. Indeed, in our society, this transparency is triumphed and "extimity" is applauded. Secrets are not opposed to this but are complimentary and the valid ation of the secret is a support for the socialization of the person

A \"fala perfeita\" de Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão - um diálogo íntimo com a realidade / The perfect speech of Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão - an intimate dialogue with realitySteinberg, Vivian 15 August 2011 (has links)
This study has its object of research the poetry of Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão, attempting the understanding of what the perfect speech means to the author herself. Detailed examination of the poem Teoria da Realidade tratando-a por tu (The Theory or Reality getting familiar with it), reflects the complete author´s poetic, embracing Fiama´s work as a whole. The poem analyzed makes part of the series Poetics (Poetics) from the Cenas Vivas (Living Scenes) book dated from the year 2000. There is in this poem the unfolded poetic subject that chases her muttering voice. We can say the enunciation subject tells us how the poetic voice had emerged, developed, acquiring the perfect speech thus offering it at last to its readers. Since the publication of Morfismos (Morphisms) in 1961, the Author worries about the language narrowness, rescuing from its ordinary use. Giving autonomy to it as well as searching what she had called the poetry/noun. This way Fiama´s poetry filiation relies on the modern tradition and specifically in Mallarmé. Her poems witness all the things that has been written and read by her. From great epics to the Bible, the Anglo-Germanic tradition to the great American poets also including in this list the Portuguese tradition as well. The path throughout her work has chased poems that are poetic, in other words, that the theme is the poetry itself, revealing the envisioning and the knowledge Fiama has from reality as well as poetry. It has been detected she opted for reality. The poetic material for her, belongs to the Earth where there is a concern to unveil what is real. These matters have been attested based on the reading of the poems of the Obra Breve Poesia Reunida (Brief Works). The poetic path selected ended up in the Teoria da Realidade tratando-a por tu (Theory of Reality- getting familiar with it), this has exposed us the intimacy that she has gained with reality, revealing at same the time how her poetic voice blossomed.

The legalization of intimacy in MexicoGonzález, Manuel Alberto Castillo 24 November 2015 (has links)
THE LEGALIZATION OF INTIMACY IN MEXICO by Manuel Castillo This dissertation has been submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor iuris (Dr. iur.) at the Faculty of Law, of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in Germany. The main scope of the research is the legalization of intimacy, using Mexican law as a case study. Considering that the right to intimacy arises from the right to privacy, this research discusses the fundamental human rights that constitute a framework for the legalization of intimacy. The research provides an approach to the analysis of this subject that includes what has been introduced as the Spheres of Intimacy and the Structures of Intimacy. The issue of gender is discussed in its relationship with the law and intimacy. From a queer perspective, this dissertation questions the equality of marriage and same-sex marriage, arguing that a new form of legalization of intimacy for all is needed. Furthermore, this study provides a comparative review of Mexican legislations within the framework of international law. At the end, this dissertation offers a proposal for the legalization of intimacy in the twenty-first century.

Privacy is a jurisprudential notion, recently established by the legislator. Nevertheless, it’s not yet clearly defined. Privacy lies within an utterly variable context. Consequently, its domain and legal system are difficult to determine. However, notions such as intimacy, identity and personality help apprehending the concept of privacy. The evolution of society and the spreading of new technologies have impacts on privacy. Jeopardized, it has to be better protected. French courts and European Court of Human Rights are attempting at this necessity. If privacy is subjected to a right of respect, its dispute isn’t limited to defense. Privacy also contributes to personal development.Yet, right of privacy is relative insofar as it draws antagonist interests, such as general interest and various particular interests. This study contributes to apprehending privacy with regard to the Law.

Organising Intimacy : Exploring Heterosexual Singledoms at Swedish Singles Activities / Att organisera intimitet : Heterosexuella singelskap och svenska singelaktiviteterHenriksson, Andreas January 2014 (has links)
Single activities have long been places where single people can come to meet friends, build community or look for partners. The activities have relevance for studies of heterosexuality, intimacy, personal life and space. This dissertation discusses a conference, a cruise, an online site and an association for heterosexual singles in contemporary Sweden. It shows how these activities, analysed as organising people and spaces, offer participants different versions of intimacy, relationships, personal life and ultimately singledom itself. The concept non-relationality is coined to describe how people understand and enact what it means to lack a certain kind of relationship. Multi-sited ethnographic observations are combined with interviews and a survey (n=416). The chosen methods allow insight into both the heterogeneous character of the contemporary single activity scene, as well as existing tendencies to form communities. The group whose single activities are examined is deemed fairly typical of the single population at large. Nevertheless, most conclusions centre on the specific set of activities described in the book and relate them to historical examples and theory. The single activities examined can be interpreted to enact different practices entailed in a relationship without necessarily demanding commitment to a whole relationship or a specific person. In that way, the activities accommodate the inflexible personal lives that some singles report having. This challenges strict boundaries between coupledom and singledom. Such transgressive or “hetero-doxical” potential in single activities is nevertheless circumscribed by organisers’ notion that the activities provide therapeutic community in a phase before singles take the step (back) into coupledom.

Previous issue date: 2006 / This study examines representations of intimate dramas on the question of women facing the inequality of power, in relationship between the sexes, as well as images of the search for autonomy and sexual liberty in the films Os Cafajestes, A Falecida and O Desafio, which are part of the New Cinema, a cultural movement which arose in the 60s. Here, intimate drama is defined as situations or experiences which men and women have in the space which surrounds their affective and sexual relationships. The choice of cinema to analyze this theme was due to the fact of understanding that cinema is a dialogue with a historical context, even though it uses a specific language to transmit messages ? having an association to images, movement of the camera, the lighting effects and the use of sound. Thus, this study is set in a sociological perspective which adopts the establishment of a link of the work (the film) with the group of historical, cultural, economic and political relationships as a basic principle. In spite of the filmography of the New Cinema being characteristically directed towards the representation of economic and political problems of the county, the study done, identified the movie directors involved with this cultural movement who also approached questions referring to ?intimate dramas? forming new representations of being feminine and of being masculine. In the films analyzed, one perceived the attribution of values which contribute to the denigration of feminine images, which, in turn, reinforces masculine models confirmed by patterns of aggressive, violent attitudes towards women. However, at the same time there are representations of women who are determined and decided, who choose paths which they want to take, and in this way maintain relationships of power with men. Despite emerging traces which are not homogenous in that which refers to the practices of men and women, there are, in summary, representations of continuing strict social rules concerning the behavior of women who dare to face social determinations.

Investigating radical contradictions of original lovemaps: therapeutic implicationsLake, Tracy Melanie 31 August 2006 (has links)
Years of psychotherapy practice at university, state, and military hospitals developed the author's interest in the presentation of love relationship problems. Mood and anxiety disorders, as the most prevalent pathologies, were often co-morbid with or secondary to partner relationship issues. Most vexing for clients was a situation of repeated dysfunctional partner selections in which similar problems arose each time. This incubated the idea of a process, probably outside of awareness, that functioned to perpetuate self-defeating partner selection patterns. The author was introduced to Money's `lovemap' concept during studies and identified readily with its principles and mechanisms. The lovemap is defined as a highly individualised, developed, mental template or cognitive blueprint of the ideal lover. It is assumed that every person has a lovemap, and would be able to describe it if asked the right questions. The concept promised to be a useful vehicle for studying self-defeating partner selection patterns, as `errors' might be coded into the lovemap that are expressed in such a presentation. The author identified the need to ground the lovemap concept in recognised psychological theory in order to motivate for its relevance. Kelly's theory of cognitive constructs provided robust links for lovemap as a sophisticated construction system, and the developmental theories of Freud and Erikson situated lovemap genesis within recognised periods of emerging human capacities to love and relate sexually; the stages of puberty to young adulthood. Lovemaps are assumed to function optimally when love and lust co-operate in pairbonding, or the capacity to couple. Extensive literature reviews cover the research fields of romantic love, human sexuality, and pairbonding, affording hypotheses as to lovemap pathology. A qualitative, Phenomenological research design of case studies with six adult persons, who had experienced radical contradictions of original lovemaps, identified when and how lovemap change took place. Thematic analysis of the attributions for change distilled a number of implications for therapy that would encourage certain indicated change processes. An integrative psychotherapy model recognises the cognitively- and socially constructed nature of lovemaps and proposes intervention components that blend cognitive-behavioural and narrative approaches. This model will be tested extensively with a suitable client population. / Psychology / D. Litt. ET Phil. (Psychology)

Text in Afrikaans / In the light of two literature studies, the nature, origin and consequences of
early perceptions of marriage, the form of identities and frames of reference, as well as the resultant origin of an internalized marriage have been explored. An empirical survey was undertaken, with the aid of a specially formulated questionnaire, to investigate the influence of early perceptions of marriage, and thus marriage expectations, on a person's own marriage. The research outcomes show that children do internalize aspects of their parents' marriage and transfer these to their own marriage. There seems to be an important similarity between pattern of communication and conflict management in the original family of questioned subjects and their marriage. Although some subjects have denied the influence of their original family on their marriage, there seems to be a transfer of patterns nevertheless. / Educational studies / M.Ed.(Voorligting)

Exploring and storying Protestants Christian women's experiences living in sexually unhappy marriagesSpies, Nicoline 06 1900 (has links)
This research project arose from my journeys with Protestant Christian women who were living in
sexually unhappy marriages. In South African Protestant faith communities there is the expectation
that Christian marriages will experience sexual fulfilment. For many Christian women however,
sexual unhappiness becomes their reality. Sexuality is cocooned in silence not only within the
church, but also in many Christian marriages. This leaves many Christian women (and men) with
little or no recourse to address sexually unhappy marriages.
My research journey briefly explored the social construction of sexuality within the history of
Christianity to see which discourses underpin current constructions of White Christian female
sexuality. This participatory feminist action research journey centralised the voices of present-day
contexts: Protestant Christian women, as well as clergy, were invited to share their understandings
and interpretations of matrimony and sexual practices in relation to their faith. With the help of
narrative therapeutic practices, some of the dominant social and religious discourses that constitute
White Christian female sexuality were explored, deconstructed and challenged.
This research journey aimed to penetrate this silence and to invite Christian women, who are living
in sexually unhappy marriages, to share their experiences. This exploration included the faith
predicaments and relational complexities, challenges and dilemmas Protestant Christian women
experience when living in sexually unhappy marriages. This feminist-grounded action research
explored the effects and consequences which living in sexually unhappy marriages held for the cosearchers. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / D.Th. (Specialisation in Pastoral Therapy)
