I denna kunskapsöversikt problematiseras förståelsen för icke-konfessionell undervisning, så som den definieras och ser ut i den svenska skolan. I syftet att främja en likvärdig skola ska arbetet besvara följande frågeställningar: “Hur uttrycks idén om det sekulära Sverige i läroplanerna Lpo94, Lgr11, Lgr22?” och “Hur stämmer idén om det sekulära Sverige överens med skolverksamheten?”. Kunskapsöversikt består av sex stycken artiklar och en doktersavhandling som vi sammanställer för att besvara arbetets frågeställningar. Materialet är hämtat från EBSCO databaser och SwePub, samt annat material från kursmaterial. Med hjälp av religionsvetaren Ninian Smarts definition av religion utifrån sju dimensioner och utifrån forskning om kristna högtider och kristna fenomen i verksamhetsutövandet i skolan, nyanseras dikotomin om konfessionell och icke-konfessionell undervisning. Forskningen utgår främst från verksamheten i förskolor. Utifrån Nordin och Sunbergs läroplansteoretiska begreppsapparat, som utgår från DI (discursive institutionalism), nyanseras den Svenska skolans sekularisering. I vår diskussionsdel behandlas begreppen kulturarv och banal religion & nationalism samt görs en koppling till läraruppdraget. Med utgångspunkt i relevant forskning drar vi slutsatsen att skolan har en stark koppling till den evangelisk-lutherska tron genom en viss förståelse för begreppet konfessionell och därför också vad som är sekulärt.

Denna kvalitativa studie inleder med en kort förklaring och beskrivning till uppsatsens titel samt ämne Den syrisk ortodoxa kyrkans roll i sammanhållningen av det syrianska/assyriska folket. Bakgrund till det syrianska/assyriska folket i Sverige samt dess fortlevnad, har föranlett studiens frågeställning: Vilken roll har den syrisk ortodoxa kyrkan i sammanhållningen av det syrianska/assyriska folket i Stockholm, utifrån Ahrnes och Brunssons (2011) sociologiska teori om organisationselementen? Denna forskning avser att studera den syrisk ortodoxa kyrkans roll i sammanhållningen av det syrianska/assyriska folket utifrån ett kvinnoperspektiv med stöd av Ahrnes och Brunssons (2011) sociologiska teori om organisationselementen. För att undersöka detta gjordes sex intervjuer med syrianska/assyriska kvinnor av första generationens invandrare i Stockholm vars ålder varierar mellan 50–60 år. Rubriken “2.2 Tidigare forskning” syftar på att ge studien ett underlag samt att komplettera ramarna som huvudteorin strukturerat, för att skapa en bredare förståelse kring frågeställningens användning av begreppen ortodoxa, kyrkan samt folket. Studiens resultat har visat att det finns ett visst samband mellan kyrkans roll i sammanhållningen av syrianer/assyrier som folkgrupp i Stockholm; att vara en materiell kollektiv resurs i form av en social arena där individer inom gemenskapen kan mötas samt dela normer, värderingar samt traditioner. Kyrkans huvudsakliga roll är att stå som en arena där Ahrne samt Brunssons (2011) organisationselement kan utövas samt bevaras; medlemskap, regler, hierarki, övervakning samt sanktioner. Resultatet kan ha betydelse för vidare studier inom minoritetsgrupper samt dess fortlevnad.

I uppsatsen analyseras det teologiska innehållet i tre altartavlor utförda av den under gustaviansk tid verksamma konstnären Pehr Hörberg. Med en produktion på totalt 87 altartavlor, varav 49 beställdes för östgötska kyrkor, var Hörberg under 1700- och tidigt 1800-tal en framträdande kyrkomålare. I uppsatsen utforskas även vilka faktorer som kan ha bidragit till konstnärens popularitet som kyrkomålare. Motiven som analyseras i uppsatsen är Jesu födelse, Nedtagandet från korset och Kristi himmelsfärd. Med utgångspunkt i en metod skräddarsydd för att kunna tolka bilder teologiskt analyseras dessa motiv utifrån en kristen kontext. Därmed blir innehållet i dessa altartavlor, vilket även är syftet med uppsatsen, mer tillgängligt för såväl kristna som icke-kristna betraktare.

This thesis will discuss the ethical demands that are given by Stanley Hauerwas and William Schweiker in their theory about Christian ethics. The question at issue being discussed is which ethical demands to act good is revealed in Hauerwas and Schweikers understanding of Christian ethics and do they put a stronger demand on Christians to act good? This thesis finds out that both of them put some special ethical demands for Christians that are not the same as to other people. In their writing about the special claims for Christians, when it comes to moral behavior, they have their own way of understanding what these claims are. Hauerwas claims that Christians should act good because of Jesus Christ. To learn to be like him humans need to develop their virtues in a community of virtues. The church is the place where your person and character can develop in a certain way. This view is, according to this thesis, not reasonable in a world with global dynamics. Schweiker claims that the agent and his actions have a special relation and that humans as agents needs to take responsibility and use it as a moral imperative. For Christians responsibility gets more important because of their belief. Schweiker presents an ethic that is both reasonable and applicable to other worldviews in a world with global dynamics.

A new law regulating homosexual relations was in the year of 2009 introduced in the parliament of Uganda, resulting in wide condemnation from the west. The bill proposed harsh penalties for homosexual behavior and gay advocacy, including, but not limited to, the death penalty and life imprisonment. Despite the damning critique from certain western countries the law garnered strong support among Ugandan nationals. To understand this discrepansy my thesis sets out to comprehend the reasoning behind the bill’s national popularity. Is it possible to make sense of a law that from a liberal western perspective could be considered nonsensical? To develop an understanding of the motivations behind the bill, this paper aims to identify and analyze frequently used arguments in support of the ”anti-gay law”. This analysis is primarily achieved through the implementation of a postcolonial perspective containing terminology inspired by Frantz Fanon, and Kristen Cheneys discussions regarding ”postcolonial amnesia”. More general aspects associated with postcolonial theory are also included and a ”liberal western perspective” is additionally implemented to empahasize the contribution of the postcolonial perspective. The study identified four different types of arguments that were commonly used in support of the bill. The first stated that homosexuality is a western phenomenon contrary to African values, the second claimed that homosexuality is a threat to the family, the third that it’s a sin in conflict with religious values, and it was lastly argued that homosexuality doesn’t qualify as one of the human rights. All of the aforementioned arguments were shown to be more comprehensible through the implementation of a postcolonial perspective. The branding of homosexuality as western and ”un-African” was for example demonstrated as explainable when viewed as a reaction to western hegemony and historical colonial exploitation, as well as a drive to create and uphold an independent national identity. A similar pattern is also identified in connection with the other arguments, and is primarily established through the reasonings of Frantz Fanon. Kristen Cheneys use of ”postcolonial amnesia” is also implemented to make sense of glaring paradoxes in the arguments supporting the law.

The purpose of this study is to map the ethical arguments presented in the Church of Sweden Bishops’ letter of "The Beginning and End of Life: Tools for Orientation in Ethical Choices", and to analyse and discuss these in relation to Sören Kierkegaard's philosophical concepts of choice, freedom and anxiety. The research questions focus on understanding Kierkegaard's view of choice, identifying the ethical arguments in the Bishops’ letter and investigating how Kierkegaard's concepts can contribute to a deeper understanding of the ethical arguments therein. The method includes conceptual analysis to clarify Kierkegaard's ideas and argumentation analysis to discuss the ethical arguments that appeared in the bishops’ letter. The study's questions are answered through the essay's two methods of a analysis, followed by a summary and conclusions. The study has shown that there are arguments in Sören Kierkegaard that contribute to deepening the Bishops’ letter. In particular, a) potential risks of allowing communities to participate in decision-making, b) the anxiety as an opportunity in decision-making and c) call to see ethically difficult choices as the possibility of the meeting with God. The result shows that Kierkegaard's philosophy of choice, freedom and anxiety offers a deeper perspective to the ethical reasoning behind the Bishops’ letter, based on Lutheran theology and a Christian view of humanity Keywords: Søren Kierkegaard, choice, freedom, anxiety, Bishops' letter, Church of Sweden,ethics, ethical arguments, ethical principles, Christian view of humanity.

<p>An issue of central interest today is the aspiration for wholeness, on the one hand referring to the concept of “healing” <em>(swed: helande)</em>, on the other hand to being “whole” <em>(swed: hel);</em> body, mind, soul, spirit and relations. The need and desire to offer a more holistic experience is becoming prominent also within the Swedish Church. This paper addressed some events within the Swedish Church that cater to experiences of wholeness, with the aim of exploring how this is done in practise and how it’s rooted in Christian thought. Events were experienced by participant observation as far as possible and theoretical/theological issues addressed in interviews with initiators, as well as extracted from some current literature. The material was analysed from a hermeneutically inspired stance, addressing different possibilities of interpretation. The study found that the material could be roughly divided into two groups; one turning back toward patrimony and lost traditions for renewed nourishment and enhanced experience, the other turning toward foreign or newer religious/spiritual traditions and movements, applying new practices and concepts. It was noted that current theological discussion of innovation was lagging far behind what was actually being performed in various parishes. Theological debate also seemed to neglect the concept of “healing”, while this aspect came across as being of major importance in most observed events. Theory and practise seemed to live in separate realities. Although lacking in clarity, in common grounds and common values, the Swedish Church was seen to offer a broad and interesting range of holistic experiences, with or without Christian connections.</p>
