[en] WHEN DIFFERENCE IS A SOURCE OF TENSION: A STUDY OF THE CURRICULA BEING IMPLEMENTED IN INITIAL YEARS OF PRIMARY EDUCATION / [pt] QUANDO A DIFERENÇA É MOTIVO DE TENSÃO: UM ESTUDO DE CURRÍCULOS PRATICADOS EM CLASSES INICIAIS DO ENSINO FUNDAMENTALCLAUDIA HERNANDEZ BARREIROS 16 November 2006 (has links)
[pt] Nesta pesquisa de inspiração etnográfica, procurou-se
conhecer e
iniciais do ensino
fundamental.
bairro.
quase sempre,
do inesperado e do
pesquisadora e as
numa perspectiva crítica, penetre as práticas pedagógicas. / [en] In this study of an ethnographic nature, we have sought to
understand how a theoretical framework based on the
concept of difference and
introduced in schools and teacher education via studies on
school failure has been
incorporated into the daily pedagogic practice of teachers
in charge of initial
grades in primary education. We focused our investigation
on a public school
located in a large shantytown in Rio de Janeiro. The study
included observation of
planning sessions and study centers, of lessons given to
four different classes by
three different teachers, as well as interviews with the
teachers, the coordinator
and the school´s headmistress. Our starting point was the
idea that difference does
not demand only planned, conscious action, once it also
emerges in unplanned
situations frequently generating tension. Another starting
point is the concept of
intercultural education. To this end, we have chosen to
adopt Peter McLaren and
his concept of critical multiculturalism as well as Vera
Candau´s idea of
intercultural teaching practices as major theoretical
references. To understand
how teachers build up their pedagogical knowledge, we have
chosen Maurice
Tardif´s notion of teacher knowledge. To analyse teachers´
ways of coping with
the unexpected, unplanned-for situations in their lessons,
we have chosen Philippe
Perrenoud´s notion of professional habitus. From these
theoretical perspectives,
we have attempted to analyse the school´s pedagogic
project presented by the
school´s pedagogic team and debated at some staff meetings
we had the
opportunity to attend; some aspects of the school daily
routine we were able to
observe and the interviews with key staff. From these
analyses, we have
concluded that different meanings are attributed to the
word difference, some of
which are present in the school and are encountered by the
teachers in their
practice. However, the cultural perspective proposed by
McLaren, Candau and
other authors was only considered when it was the focus of
a study group made up by the teachers. This observation
led us to conclude that a lot of effort has yet to
be invested into teacher education policies in order to
promote the cultural and
critical perspectives proposed by this theoretical
framework so that it becomes
incorporated into teaching practices.

[en] Botanical Gardens are institutions increasingly open to a
public that seeks to study and preserve flora. The
Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro, one of the oldest
scientific institutions in Brazil, has created an important
bond with the public through its educational activities.
Schools, for which specific environmental educational
projects have been created, are a significant portion of
the universe of visitors, which is increasing every year.
The present study has the purpose of examining the
relationship between the Botanical Garden and the school
public, by means of observation of the educational
practices developed by the institution, together with
interviews conducted with the teachers who bring their
students to the Garden. The data obtained in the research
allowed the identification of elements that favor, as well
as those that hinder, the approximation of these two
universes, The Botanical Garden and the school, thus
contributing to the development of an effective partnership.

Mikhail Bakhtin, Walter Benjamin e Lev Vygotsky.
O primeiro Capítulo discute a construção histórica e
social
da infância e aborda a situação da infância no Brasil,
apontando os desafios postos hoje aos sistemas
educacionais, no que diz respeito à Educação Infantil. O
Traz a centralidade
O terceiro Capítulo focaliza a
atendimento
da Educação Infantil, percorre a história da Educação
Infantil no município e finaliza com as questões atuais
identificadas em entrevistas e observações. / [en] This thesis is related to the research Professional
development opportunities for the personnel of early
childhood education in the state of Rio de Janeiro:
conceptions, policies and its implementations. It concerns
the fields of early childhood education, public policies,
infancy, language and literacy. Its main concern is the
understanding of the conceptions of infancy, language and
literacy that resemble to practices and speeches of the
different instances of the early childhood education in the
public Schools of the city of Rio de Janeiro. This thesis
is based on current literature concerning the history and
early education policy;on the proposition that children are
culture producers, citizens of rights and on language as a
space for social interaction, awareness and growth. Specific
bibliography references from each center of the research
outlined these principles, however it had as a main source
of ideas Mikhail Bakhtin, Walter Benjamin and Lev Vygotsky.

construction of childhood and focuses the childhood
situation in Brazil, pointing out the educational system
challenges concerning early childhood education. The
second chapter considers the language issues related to
infancy, questioning and proposing ideas to early childhood
education. It brings up the importance of the written
language in the contemporary world, infancy and literacy,
the construction process of writing and the limits and
possibilities of children's literature. The third
chapter focuses the early childhood education in the public
schools in Rio de Janeiro: describes early childhood
education, examines its history in the city of Rio de

[en] This work is part of the Historical Knowledge in Different Spaces of Memory research line of the Post-Graduate Program in Teaching History (ProfHistória). Its main objective is to identify ways for a possible curriculum for quilombola school education, especially of History, at the Áurea Pires da Gama school. It is important to start from the understanding that the quilombola social movement, in general, and the social movement of Santa Rita do Bracuí, in particular, has a pedagogical dimension that demands a differentiated education: a quilombola education. This issue becomes urgent in the present time when the educational bureaucracies seek to standardize school spaces with the justification that they are democratizing the access to knowledge. On the other hand, several social groups, among which the quilombolas, require a differentiated education
that meets their social demands. A quilombola Education presupposes thinking of a quilombola curriculum, a curriculum that takes into consideration the interests and knowledge of the quilombola community of Santa Rita do Bracuí.

A narrativa
[en] This study proposes to analyze the narrative and design of Alternate Reality
Games (ARGs). The narrative analysis was based on the use of supports and its
contribution to the fields of design and education. In this study, I sought to explain
how the ARG was structured by the use of the supports, as well as the
communication channels used by the game designers to interact with the players
and how they stimulated the communication between participants. Also, I sought
to perceive how the development of this communication structure occurred and if
these established channels inspired the interactivity, and in what way these could
be advantageous in the development of more interactive ludic architectures.

[en] HERMENEUTICS AND EDUCATION: APPROXIMATIONS / [pt] HERMENÊUTICA E EDUCAÇÃO: APROXIMAÇÕESADRIANA MARIA RIBEIRO GIL FERREIRA 10 June 2011 (has links)
[en] The present work is situated in the field of philosophy of education and has
got as its guiding theme the contributions that hermeneutics can provide for the
debates in the area of pedagogy, especially in the reflection on learning processes
and human formation. From this point on, we try to show how this current of
thought can offer a critical perspective concerning those Universalist theories,
which appear in Modernity, so that we can put in question fundamental notions
such as subjectivity and rationality. Hence, we try to make clear in which way
hermeneutics represents not just an alternative, but also a turning point in the
understanding of educational processes, for it puts in check fundamental
presuppositions, which are intrinsic to the ideas of subjectivity and rationality. In
our work, we also try to think about the contributions that hermeneutics can bring
to the search for non-hegemonic narratives in education, so that we can have in
view a wider understanding of the plurality of discourses involved in learning
processes.

[en] EVALUATION POLITICS AND PRACTICES IN DAYCARE CENTERS: A RESEARCH IN THE PUBLIC SYSTEM OF RIO DE JANEIRO / [pt] POLÍTICAS E PRÁTICAS DE AVALIAÇÃO NA CRECHE: UMA PESQUISA NA REDE PÚBLICA DO MUNICÍPIO DO RIO DE JANEIROMARINA PEREIRA DE CASTRO E SOUZA 25 September 2017 (has links)
[en] The thesis – Evaluation policies and practices in daycare centers: a research in the public system of Rio de Janeiro is a qualitative study that analyses the different concepts of evaluation that arise from practices in the daycare center context, considering the meaning the professionals give to their own evaluation practices as well as the conditions under which they are formed. The theoretical and methodological references are the works of various authors, including Mikhail Bakhtin s philosophy of language and Walter Benjamin s cultural criticism; in the field of evaluation, the study dialogues with the ideas of Claudia Fernandes, Domingos Fernandes, Alicia Bonamino and Paulo Freire; in the area of early childhood education, the main references are Ana Bondioli, Donatella Savio, Peter Moss and Sonia Kramer. The methodology consisted of observations in groups at the researched daycare center, as well as the analysis of the reports of children s evaluations. The essay also approaches the macro-perspective of policy context – its concepts and processes of elaboration and implementation. To do so, it analyzes the history of childhood education in the city of Rio de Janeiro and the current situation with regard to attendance, the pilot experiment of Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3) and curricular and evaluation policy. In addition, the study presents an updated view of old discussions about early childhood vis-a-vis the relationship between psychology and education and the deterministic approach of neuroscience in the evaluation of infants and toddlers. This analytical path led to conclusions and propositions for the development of policies and practices, with the following standing out: the analyses of the supervisor s reports, produced by the Municipal Secretary of Education (MSE) of Rio de Janeiro, expose contradictions in the understanding of education in early childhood education: educational and preparatory conceptions coexist with proposals that value the children s self expression and culture backgrounds; the observation of the researched daycare center s practices shows that the act of evaluating children is often dominated by the developmental psychology approach, which tends to asses children s growth in a linear way and with dichotomic meaning, with the adult defining what and when should be taught; the teaching methods observed reveal an artificial knowledge, one without meaning and detached from the children s interests, a problem also found in the orientation documents from the MSE of Rio de Janeiro; although the evaluation reports purportedly aim to avert the standardized check-list analysis, it is very common in daycare centers and kindergartens to find analyzed records that do not emphasize the singularity of the children and their learning development but instead focus on the description of skills and competences.

[en] PRINCIPLES OF JUSTICE AND HAPPINESS: CHALLENGES FOR MORAL EDUCATION IN MULTICULTURAL ENVIRONMENTS / [pt] PRINCÍPIOS DE JUSTIÇA E DE FELICIDADE: DESAFIOS PARA A EDUCAÇÃO MORAL EM AMBIENTES MULTICULTURAISLUIZ CLAUDIO DA SILVA CAMARA 11 March 2016 (has links)
justiça e felicidade presentes no pensamento ético kantiano e aristotélico, a partir
[en] The purpose of this research is to investigate how high school teachers
from a public school in the city of Rio de Janeiro perceive and react when they are
faced with prejudice or discriminatory behavior among students. This research
also intended to grasp which conceptions of morality serve as a basis for the
teachers actions, either implicitly or explicitly. By using the connection between
regulative conceptions of justice and happiness that are present in Kant and
Aristotle s work, and considering that these concepts are usually seen in an
excluding way, this research suggests the possibility of these concepts
complementing each other ,as well as being mutually connected. As for the
methodological choices, the research involved on extensive literature review
along with fieldwork and semi- structured interviews with 17 teachers, who
volunteered. One result of the research that is important to highlight is that the
types of prejudice and discrimination that were most perceived by the teachers
were related to sexual orientation, racial and ethnic diversity. On the other hand,
the least noted were related to religion, cognitive difference, physical appearance
and place of origin. Referring to the actions taken by these teachers while facing
this discriminatory behavior, the majority mentioned that they would firmly
oppose them, however the fieldwork showed that some teachers don t notice this
behavior, or seem to ignore the suffering some students are exposed to. Maybe
due to the limits of the chosen method, the research couldn t explicit the
articulation between the concepts for justice and happiness, as well as their
conceptions of morality. However, it was observed that when the teachers were
faced with situations in which an urgent decision was required, they prioritized
justice at the expense of happiness. Finally, the research pointed out that there are
still limits in teaching education, training and formation with regard to the
prejudice and discrimination that take place at school.

[en] BETWEEN THE VISIBLE AND THE INVISIBLE: THE PRESENCE OF THE CHILD IN KINDERGARTEN INSTITUTION / [pt] ENTRE O VISÍVEL E O INVISÍVEL: A PRESENÇA DA CRIANÇA NA INSTITUIÇÃO DE EDUCAÇÃO INFANTILPAULA LANNES PEREIRA PASSOS 14 March 2016 (has links)
[en] This dissertation, performed in a community daycare in the municipality of Rio de Janeiro, aims to study interactions between adults and children. Prioritizes interactions and practices that give visibility the child in order to understand the strengths and weaknesses of early childhood education institution as a space that favors the meeting with the child. The methodology adopted was observations (records in field book) of a group of children 3-4 years old, interviews with the coordinator, teacher, auxiliary and mother / official and informal conversations with the director, teacher and auxiliary. The categories were defined from Buber s concepts of presence, meeting, between, dialogue. The first chapter deals with the research building process. Contextualizes the study in dialogue with the theoretical framework, presents the Daycare and the subjects researched and entry into the field. The second chapter is dedicated to Buber and Bakhtin. The act of searching is analyzed, from concepts of Bakhtin in order to reflect on the place where the researcher takes and how to research subjects treated. The third chapter analyzes the observation and interviews in order to understand if the Daycare space favors that children and adults who work in establishing authentic relationships with each other. The final considerations reflect on the positive aspects and how these contribute to true relationships, enabling meetings in which subjects are present and involved. The weaknesses are cited as possibilities for change that collaborate in the formation of spaces and times that prioritize children and their development.
