Cloud ERP and its Critical Success Factors in Small Swedish FirmsLindström, Fredrik, Robertsson, Henrik January 2020 (has links)
More companies of differing structures and sizes are starting to utilize CERP systems where it contributes to eliminating most physical investments needed for a traditional ERP system. This makes CERP systems more obtainable for small firms compared to traditional ERP systems where fees can be adapted to fit the firm size. However, there are no established information about CSFs pertaining to CERP in small Swedish firms and thus leading to this study. The purpose of this study is to generate knowledge on the critical success factors of the post implementation phase of CERP systems. This has been done through an abductive methodology where CSFs pertaining to CERP in small Swedish firms have been identified through the lens of a unified CSF model and analyzed using structural contingency theory. The data in the study was collected through semi-structured and unstructured interviews that were conducted with respondents in management positions in small Swedish firms utilizing CERP systems. This led to the findings of the study where eleven CSFs pertaining to CERP during post implementation were identified. These findings suggest a high importance in the factor, vendor dependability where a control shift from the organization to the vendor was identified pertaining to CERP during post implementation in small firms. This differed from the findings of earlier research pertaining to CSFs for ERP during post implementation in large firms where the control was suggested to be mostly with the organization.

This Master's Thesis compares technologies used in the architecture of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems to evaluate the benefits and advantages of emerging technologies. The emerging technologies, Cloud Computing, Software as a Service (SaaS) and Multi-Tenancy, could significantly alter the current ERP space and become a primary part of ERP Systems of the future. A survey was sent to industry professionals to obtain feedback on their company's ERP Systems and to collect their comments on these new technologies. The survey results and related analysis show that Emerging Cloud ERP Systems outperform Traditional Legacy ERP Systems in all important characteristics - Accessibility, Business Cost, Implementation Time, Mobility, Scalability, Upgradability, and Usability. Cloud Systems were also found to have a shorter implementation time and a larger proportion of Cloud Systems were on the most recent version of software. Furthermore, industry professionals identified Cloud Computing, SaaS and Mobility as the emerging technologies of the coming decade. This thesis demonstrates that there are significant benefits for companies to use ERP Systems that use the emerging technologies and that the shift to Cloud ERP Systems has begun.

Previous issue date: 2017-04-16 / The main objective of this research was to investigate the critical success factors for cloud ERP projects in the scenario of Brazilian companies. In addition, the secondary objectives were to identify the perception of benefits resulting from this implementation, in the aspect of improving organizational performance and the elaboration of a matrix to support the management of such projects, based on a review of the literature and the data collected from the field research. The method of the data collection was a self-directed questionnaire, and the statistical method was the canonical correlation, to answer the main research question. In addition, a factorial analysis and a multiple linear regression were run to investigate possible relationships between the independent variables (critical success factors) and the dependent variables (benefits) of the research model. The results obtained did not validate all the critical factors present in the literature, and those that were proven empirically were regrouped in new dimensions, being: security information and alignment of compliance, and communication and management of stakeholders. / O objetivo principal deste estudo foi explorar os principais fatores críticos de sucesso de projetos ERP cloud, no contexto do cenário de empresas brasileiras. Adicionalmente, os objetivos secundários consistiram na identificação da percepção de benefícios resultantes dessa implementação, sob o aspecto de melhoria do desempenho organizacional e a elaboração, com base na revisão da literatura sobre o tema e nos dados coletados na pesquisa de campo, de uma matriz para apoiar a gestão de projetos dessa natureza. Para responder à questão de pesquisa, o método de coleta de dados foi o questionário autodirigido e o método estatístico foi a correlação canônica. Adicionalmente, foi realizada uma análise fatorial e uma regressão linear múltipla para investigar com mais profundidade possíveis relações entre as variáveis independentes (fatores críticos de sucesso) e as variáveis dependentes (benefícios) do modelo de pesquisa. Os resultados obtidos não validaram todos os fatores críticos presentes na literatura, e os que se comprovaram empiricamente foram reagrupados em novas dimensões, sendo: segurança da informação e alinhamento do compliance, e comunicação e gestão de stakeholders.

Antalet företag som använder någon form av molnbaserade affärssystem växer ständigt och molnbaserade tjänster innebär ofta stora ekonomiska fördelar kontra ett traditionellt affärssystem, i och med att det dramatiskt minskar kostnader i form av stora investeringar såsom hårdvara och infrastruktur. Molnbaserade system är dock inte utan kontroverser med, i media, välrapporterade attacker som skett de senaste åren där stora företag som Apple, Target, Home Depot, Sony och det amerikanska skatteverkets (IRS) molnbaserade system varit måltavlor. Därför har vi i den här interpretativa fallstudien valt att undersöka vad som påverkat en organisations beslut av övergå till en molnbaserad infrastruktur, trots de risker som förknippas med detta. Fallstudien är utförd hos PostNord, som i skrivande stund är i fas att övergå till en molnbaserad infrastruktur och vi har undersökt vilka fördelar hos en molnbaserad infrastruktur som är de viktigaste för PostNord, varför just dessa fördelar är viktiga och vilka risker som tagits i beaktande kring en molnbaserad infrastruktur inför beslutet. Vi har undersökt vad som ligger till grund för beslutet, med en risk-belöningdiskussion, och med hjälp av institutionell organisationsteori dragit slutsatser kring de bakomliggande beslutsprocesserna som påverkat beslutet. Syftet med arbetet har därmed varit att med hjälp av en kvalitativ fallstudie och datainsamling (via halvstrukturerade, kvalitativa intervjuer), och genom att tematiskt analysera det empiriska materialet, fastställa vilka faktorer som varit betydande inför övergången till en molnbaserad infrastruktur. Efter genomförd studie har vi funnit att det som drivit beslutsprocesserna har varit att möjliggöra reduktioner av kostnader för IT, ökad flexibilitet i IT-driften, att molnleverantörer kan erbjuda bättre säkerhet och att molntjänstemarknaden har hunnit mogna varpå det är lättare för organisationer att träffa gynnsamma avtal. Vi har även funnit att det framför allt varit två styrande isomorfer som bidragit till beslutet; den normativa och den styrande isomorfen: att exekutivt ansvariga fattar beslutet att en förändring mot molnstruktur är strategiskt nödvändig, samt att marknaden ställer krav som nödvändiggör förändringen.

Current trends in ERP system were studied by conducting research and analyzes to see to what degree are current ERP trends reflected in existing ERP solutions that are being developed by both Czech and multinational vendors. For the purposes of the research a set of hypotheses was formulated and used to analyze the selected solutions. The research found two trends that are represented in the majority of selected ERP solutions. The application of cloud computing technology and the suitability to use particular solutions as two-tiered ERP. It was also found that all researched vendors to a certain degree implement the principles of Green ICT, although no vendor specifically labeled their software as Green ERP. It was also found that the term Social ERP doesn't appear to be an acceptable term for ERP vendors, although Social ERP functionality of some degree was found to be present in ERP solutions from multinational vendors.

本研究探討生產力4.0計畫推進ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning, Gartner Group Inc. 1990)軟體在產業管理系統的關鍵地位。從ERP軟體系統一直未能在企業百分之百順利建置的角度,分析企業在系統軟體導入過程中,內外關係人影響力造成的失效率,探討以羊群行為減低失效率,提升ERP成功比率,期以降低經營管理的沉沒成本。
通常企業要成功導入ERP系統,是取決於有效的專案管理(Loh and Koh, 2004)。而BPR (business process reengineering)是導入ERP系統的關鍵作業標準,例如Oracle的AIM(application, implementation, methodology)、SAP的ASAP(accelerated SAP)、鼎新的TIM(top implementation methodology)和江氏的FIT(fine implementation tool)。在過去24年來卻已緩緩偏離了企業實作科技(operational technology, OT)的基礎,包括經驗與務實(empirical and practice)的運作程序,依靠以資訊科技(information technology, IT)的標準節點為入口導向。
設若BPR標準操作流程,於導入期間重視經驗與務實的影響力,能夠妥適引導轉移(proper piloting migration, PPM)作最佳化適配(adaptation)。則建置和使用ERP系統(system)的策略,是整合網際網路(cyber)的市場價值和實體(physical)的執行績效,達成企業生產力4.0計畫的CPS虛實整合,為運營上帶來一項資產(asset),而非遺產(legacy)。 / The study investigates possibly raising successful installation rate by Herd Behivor for the software of Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP (Gartner Group Inc. 1990) under Industry 4.0 Project. According to the historical data that reducing available rate of stakeholder influence would drop the sunk cost of information technology management.
Usually enterprises in order to get an effectiveness of ERP installation, it depends on whether using proper project management (Loh and Koh, 2004). However, BPR (business process reengineering) was acting a key factor of standard operation procedure under project management in past 24 years, such as the Oracle’s AIM (application, implementation, methodology)、SAP’s ASAP (accelerated SAP)、Digiwin’s TIM (top implementation methodology) and Chiang’s FIT (fine implementation tool) . What failed rate of ERP installation is still high around industry, due to information technology (IT) instead of operational technology (OT).
Meanwhile, the BRP could switch over to emphasize the empirical experience of piloting migration (PPM) of ERP on individual business. It would guide an optimal adaptation between operational site and information platform, the strategy of using ERP system is in order to combine both benefits as the marketing value of cyber and the manufacturing productivity of physical. There is the synergy coming from Industry 4.0 Project as well as an asset for the enterprise under a systematic integration of virtual cyber and physical reality.

Det pågår ett skifte där varor har skiftat mot en mer tjänsteinriktad marknad som påverkar allt flera branscher, bland annat affärssystembranschen. Det produktorienterade synsättet har ersatts av Service Dominant (S-D) logik, där värde samskapas av aktörer i ett aktör-till-aktör nätverk. Denna utveckling kommer påverka aktörerna: kund, affärssystempartner och affärssystemleverantör, som är de aktörer som traditionellt ingår i ett aktör-till-aktör nätverk inom affärssystembranschen. Studien syftar till att skapa förståelse kring hur affärssystempartners och affärssystemleverantöres roller i aktör-till-aktör nätverket kommer förändras när affärssystem levereras som en molntjänst. Samt hur detta kommer påverka aktörernas relation till varandra. Studien har identifierat utmaningar som molnbaserade affärssystem kommer föra med sig för affärssystempartners och affärssystemleverantörer. Molnbaserade affärssystem har påverkat affärssystempartners och affärssystemleverantörers roller och sätt att arbeta. Främst affärssystempartners roll då deras arbetsuppgifter ersätts av andra aktörer. / A shift is taking place where goods has shifted towards a more service-oriented market that affects several industries, including the enterprise industry. The product-oriented approach has been replaced by Service Dominant (S-D) logic, where value is cocreated by multiple actors in an actor-to-actor network. This development will affect the actors: customer, ERP partner and ERP vendor, which traditionally are a part of the actor-to-actor network in the business of enterprise industry. The purpose of the study is to understand how the roles of ERP partners and ERP vendors will change in the actor-to-actor network when ERP are delivered as a cloud ERP. And how this will affect the actor’s relationship to each other. The study has identified challenges that cloud ERP will bring for ERP partners and ERP vendors. Cloud ERP have influenced the roles of ERP partners and ERP vendors, and their ways of working. Primarily ERP partners' role, as they risk being replaced by other actors.

In diesem Sinne untersucht die vorliegende Dissertation nach einer Beleuchtung der wesentlichen Grundlagen zunächst, inwiefern es in der Modeindustrie tatsächlich einen Bedarf an SCEM-Systemen gibt.
Anknüpfend daran zeigt sie nach einer Darstellung bisheriger SCEM-Architekturkonzepte Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten für eine Systemarchitektur auf, die auf den Designprinzipien der Serviceorientierung beruht. In diesem Rahmen erfolgt u. a. auch die Identifikation SCEM-relevanter Business Services. Die Vorzüge einer serviceorientierten Gestaltung werden detailliert anhand der EPCIS (EPC Information Services)-Spezifikation illustriert.
Abgerundet wird die Arbeit durch eine Betrachtung der Nutzenpotenziale von SCEM-Systemen. Nach einer Darstellung von Ansätzen, welche zur Nutzenbestimmung infrage kommen, wird der Nutzen anhand eines Praxisbeispiels aufgezeigt und fließt zusammen mit den Ergebnissen einer Literaturrecherche in eine Konsolidierung von SCEM-Nutzeffekten.
