Previous issue date: 2015-04-07 / FAPEAM - Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Amazonas / This thesis is the result of a field research carried out in the Middle Rio Negro region, at the
Santa Isabel do Rio Negro / AM municipality, and extended to the upper Rio Negro region,
from the experiences of the movement of the indigenous teen and young, started through the
political mobilization of young leaders in São Gabriel da Cachoeira/ AM. This study aims to
analyze the process of ethnic mobilization of those individuals, understanding such a
phenomenon as a collective expression of a political action that objectifies in the indigenous
movement, either through the creation of the Indigenous Teen and Young of Rio Negro
Department in the Indigenous Organizations of Rio Negro Federation (FOIRN), or through
the creation of the Indigenous Youth Department in the Indigenous Communities of the
Middle Rio Negro Association (ACIMRN). I emphasize that the analysis presented exceeds
the dimensions institutionalized through the indigenous movement and opens a position to
understand the relationships between youth and politics. It also comprises youth
demonstrations that are outside the institutionalized fields, but that differently remain in
constant dialogue. Beyond the groups organized politically, the analysis comprises the
phenomenon of groups of friends, usually classified as "guys". The dialogue among these
organizational forms produces what I consider a new political individual. This individual
takes the battle flag around the specific public policies for youth - whether they are
recognition or identity assertion policies. Thus, this individual is constituted from a process
marked by weaknesses and controversies that express a permanent and in construction
dynamic, which ends up revealing the conditions and social positions that teens and young
Indigenous people occupy in the socio-cultural universe of Rio Negro.
Comunidades Indígena do Médio Rio Negro (ACIMRN).
ocupam no universo sociocultural do Rio Negro.

Previous issue date: 2015-06-19 / Não informada / This dissertation is an ethnography conducted in the Remnant Community Quilombo Narcisa, located in the Northeast of Pará, in the rural zone of the municipality Capitão Poço. From data collected during field work and the constant engagement with the concepts of quilombo and gender, the point of departure of this research an analysis of how the social subjects in quilombola identity construction process represent or create mechanisms for their marital choices. The conjugality was perceived to be closely linked to kinship networks structured around the dichotomy "inside" and "outside". These categories are triggered by social agents in order to define and differentiate the relative and non-relative, and also determine rules for the preferred choice of spouse. The research explored the conjugal group from the rules governing the choice of “preferred” spouse, strategies of social actors to consummate the conjugal union, status of unions perceived in the field and the relationship between the spouses in the daily community life / Esta dissertação é uma etnografia realizada na Comunidade Remanescente de Quilombo de Narcisa, localizada no Nordeste Paraense, na área rural do município de Capitão Poço, Pará.

Previous issue date: 2016-03-21 / CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This paper presents results of a survey that aims to investigate and describe the implications spread ethnoknowledge in production processes and transmission of indigenous and non-indigenous knowledge pivoted from works developed in Amazonian school. The survey was developed in 2014 and 2015 in the indigenous community YApyrehyt in Santos Dumont housing estate, neighborhood of redemption, the Central-West of the town of ManausAM. Students participated in the research of the Sateré-Mawé Indians studying in school YApyrehyt Community Center and in the initial series of elementary school in the public school system in the city of Manaus, as well as the teacher in the Sateré-Mawé ethnicity of YApyrehyt community school and teachers of the schools in the surrounding areas of the said community belonging to the public school system who teach in the initial series of elementary school. Initially, we carry out participatory observations of school activities both in the YApyrehyt community school, as in schools belonging to the public system environment of that community. After the semi-structured interviews were conducted with teachers, both of the school's community, as with the teachers of the schools in the public system around the community. Also the focal group was held with indigenous students Sateré-Mawé studying in both schools. In this way we investigate how spread ethnoknowledge tend to influence processes of transmission and production of indigenous and non-indigenous knowledge in intercultural education environments by the Sateré-Mawé ethnicity and if these referred to environments that serve indigenous students tend to facilitate cultural exchange, as well as, if there is indeed potential controversies existing in the professional profile of teachers who work with the intercultural education in the State of Amazonas. The goal of the methodology applied in this research is to make a critical analysis and
XIII
reflective about intercultural education and the implications of the spread ethnoknowledge on interaction of indigenous and non-indigenous knowledge. Based on these observations and drawings made by indigenous students about traditional knowledge, we developed a teaching material, which will be distributed in the public education system of the city of Manaus and will be used in the training of teachers in schools of the surrounding indigenous communities installed around the city. This material aims at making knowledge of these communities by the teachers and staff of the schools in the surroundings of the indigenous communities in the city and also guide the readings on interculturality, intercultural education and traditional knowledge by putting information about the ethnicity of the community around these schools. Our results indicate that despite the Community Center school be a legalized school and Yes just to revitalize the Sateré-Mawé culture, indigenous students prefer to study in this school. Is the school's responsibility to pass on most of the traditional knowledge or indigenous students spread ethnoknowledge what should be done by the elders of the indigenous family. The low educational level of parents is one of the negative factors observed during research in the community and in the school. The teacher works with few resources, in an inappropriate environment, without having even lunches to offer to its students and to teach various students and of varied ages. The Ritual of Tucandeira and mother tongue are the traditional roots and the main spread ethnoknowledge of that ethnicity. In regular schools that teachers have no training directed towards intercultural discussions and the ignorance of the staff of some of those schools regarding registration of indigenous students is a constant. The spread ethnoknowledge are not used and not covered in regular schools. This study directs, thus, to the abovementioned research continuity through the application of teaching material to be used in the training of teachers of regular schools around the YApyrehyt community.

Previous issue date: 2007-12-12 / CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This work intends to make a sociological analysis of the action of the Indigenous Protection Service (Serviço de Proteção aos Índios SPI), in the State of Amazonas, during the 1910-1932 period. Based on such concepts as devices, field and tutelary power we have tried not only to make a historical timetable of the presence of SPI in the State of Amazonas, but also to shed some light on the practices carried out by the indigenist body in the mission of conducting the Indian population in the region under its jurisdiction, of a primitive condition to a positive state , through a localled civilizatory process . The major objective is to bring to date critical reflections on these positivistic assumptions which have deeply marked the actions by the indigenist bodies (SPI, FUNAI). It is our intention in this dissertation, to show all the nuances of the rondonistic practices in the State of Amazonas during the first decades of the XX century.

Previous issue date: 2007-11-26 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / I interviewed individually, between February and June of 2007, 59 caboclos hunters from
eight communities in the Piagaçu-Purus Sustainable Development Reserve (PP-SDR) and
13 Mura hunters from five communities in the Terra Indígena Lago Ayapuá, about the
patterns of subsistence hunting in terra firme and flooded forests (várzea) along lower
Purus river, Amazonas State. In this region, at least 59 species of vertebrates were hunted
by caboclos and indigenous groups, and the patterns of hunting of these human groups
were similar. Mammals were the most important game vertebrate class more important for
hunters of terra firme communities, followed by birds and reptiles. In várzea communities,
no significant differences were observed between hunting of mammals and birds, both of
which were hunted more than reptiles. Large-bodied mammals and birds were the most
hunted game species. Tayassu pecari (White-lipped peccary) was the most hunted species
in terra firme and Cairina moschata (Muscovy duck) in várzea. Restrictions to the fauna
consumption was more common in indigenous than caboclos communities. Xenarthra were
the vertebrate group most rejected by indigenous groups and primates and carnivores by
caboclos. Hunting was done using four basic strategies. Walking through the forest with
shotguns was the most frequently used strategy, followed by hunting with dogs. Aside
from the subsistence hunting by local people, is common in this region, the sport-hunting
of aquatic birds is practiced by people from nearby cities. The communities presented
distinct hunting territories which sometimes overlapped. The size of hunting territories was
highly correlated to the number of inhabitants of the community.
baixo Rio Purus, no Estado do Amazonas.

Previous issue date: 2009-03-30 / Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Amazonas / Sateré-Mawé is an indigenous ethnic group belonged to the linguistic trunk Tupi and inhabits the Indigenous Land Andirá-Marau, in the division of Amazonas and Pará states. As
other ethnic groups from Brazil and from the world, the Sateré people go by changing on their customs and cultural identity. Researches and studies done with these groups are important to understand the relation between biological and ethnicity diversity, with the aim to register and preserve informations about eatable species, methods and use techniques of vegetable resources, whose results can generate patterns to conservation and proper use of these properties. The
cultivation techniques and fruits preparation, seeds and eatable tuberous organs in two communities of the Sateré-Mawé group located in Maués city, Amazonas, were documented through semi-structured interviews and participant observations. The same way, were registered
informations related to labor division and to material culture for this activities development. 81 species of alimentary plants were identified, belonging to 37 botanical families and 63 genus. The Sateré-Mawé people practice the itinerant agriculture in indigenous farming and capoeiras,
cultivating predominantly manioc varieties. Other spaces used to obtain food are home yards, farms and forest areas, where in this last, they practice extractive activities. Modifications were observed on feed habits of these communities for the proximity to urban centers, where they obtain exogenous food items that do not belong to Sateré-Mawê material culture. Few researches about the Sateré-Mawé ethnobotany are found in literature, being this study an important subsidy
to the knowledge of local flora uses.
alimentícias pertencentes a 37 famílias botânicas e 63 gêneros.

Previous issue date: 2011-01-11 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This study discusses the thematic of the indigenous people in the city, more
specifically the Aripuanã families. For a better understanding of this reality we
proposed as the main goal of this research, trying to comprehend how the Apurinã
indigenous, outside their original space, recreate their territoriality in the city. This
work is based on a bibliography, documental and field researches. The discussion is
based on the new Humanistic approach of Geography in a perspective that the
territory category and territoriality help us to comprehend how the Apurinã organize
themselves on the urban context. The territoriality is mainly linked to that notion of
territory, however it indicates beyond this physical category and comprises a
dimension not only political, but also the symbolical-cultural one, although this
second dimension is not much discussed in Geography. The methodology used was
oral history of life which were made fifteen interviews with indigenous that came from
the village and for some reason they are living in the city. In addition to other
methodological procedures like notes and direct observations, during the period of
the year 2008 to 2010, helped us to realize the form of Apurinã organization in the
city, among them the concentration in small family groups spread through many
neighbourhoods in the city, the majority living in a precarious situation, nevertheless
they find through their own strategies different ways to not lose their identity, and at
the same time to fight for better life conditions on the urban context.
no contexto urbano.

Previous issue date: 2012-10-01 / Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Amazonas / This study is about the bioethical implications of and its interaction with biotechnology
regarding the use and access of the traditional knowledge of indigenous peoples in the state of
Amazonas. The objectives of the study are: to analyze the bioethical implications that arise
from the use and access of the traditional knowledge of indigenous peoples of the Amazonas
state; to identify how relevant these populations are in the definitions of public policies in
regard to its tangible and intangible cultural heritage; to discuss, in light of the current law,
the benefits those subjects are enjoying from such relevance (or lack thereof) and to propose
an extension of the concept of bioethics, including the idea of sociobiodiversity as a
mechanism for effective participation of indigenous traditional peoples. Studies about
sustainability, socio-biodiversity, bioethics and biolaw were used as theoretical frameworks.
The subjects of this study were the indigenous leaders of the State of Amazonas and its main
interlocutors: representatives of the Secretaria de Estado para os Povos Indígenas SEIND
(State Secretariat for Indigenous Peoples) and the Coordenação das Organizações Indígenas
da Amazônia Ocidental Brasileira COIAB (Coordination of the Indigenous Organizations of
the Brazilian Amazon Basin). The study presents a dialectical approach: it demonstrates the
contradictions between the indigenous leaders s perceptions of man, the world, society and its
technological and socio-cultural practices and those of non-indigenous social actors regarding
the use and access of traditional indigenous knowledge. Considering what s on the legislation
about the commitments formally made by Brazil and other federal entities in international
treaties and agreements, also the codes of ethics of research institutions, the practices of use
and access of tangible and intangible heritage of the traditional indigenous people of the state
of Amazonas, including the material and symbolic universe that surround its knowledge and
practices, worsened by the incipient opening given by non-indigenous actors to the
participation of indigenous leaders in the decision-making process, sets a complete violation
of rights, and affronts the principles of bioethics. Thereby, this study proposes to expand this
participation, aiming the respect for their rights, and a higher valuation of its tangible and
intangible heritage. As a theoretical contribution to the conceptual and methodological issue,
the study proposes a new principle to be included: sociobiodiversity.
Amazonas. Foram objetivos do estudo: analisar as implicações bioéticas decorrentes do uso e
acesso dos conhecimentos das populações tradicionais indígenas do Estado do Amazonas;

Previous issue date: 2016-01-08 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / Indigenous graduation in Brazil has provided training to many indigenous teachers in
recent years. The Federal University of Goiás have the Takinahaky Nucleus for Training of
Indigenous Teachers who since 2007 is working with the people of the Araguaia-Tocantins
region and develops on the principles of interculturality and transdisciplinarity. These
principles are scored in the publications of laws and the provision of public policies that
value the socio-cultural practices and the native language of each indigenous community.
Thus, this work analyzes the concept of intercultural education from the point of view of
indigenous teachers and what are the ways that are being built for your practice. This is an
anthropological study of Indigenous Graduation through the perspectives of indigenous
teachers and their relations with the university, the school and the community. This
ethnography is constituted in open interviews and observations within the Indigenous
Graduation of the Federal University of Goiás, where the field work is concentrated in the
indigenous teachers who are here understood as key actors for the development of
indigenous schools and the main articulator of school, community, government and
society.
sociedade.

Previous issue date: 2016-07-09 / With this study, I have the main objective to present the language policy vitality built by Karajá students of the course of Specialization in Intercultural Education and Transdisciplinary: pedagogical management, Federal University of Goiás, which make up the pedagogical political projects of the schools of Hawalò, Itxala and Btoiry. In it I discuss, first, the historical and social context of the Karajá people, in order to understand the complex universe, plural and specific experienced by these people in Brazil. The second chapter of this study has the objective to discourse about public policies on Indigenous Education in Brazil, from the Indian Protection Service, founded in 1910, until term of the 1988 Federal Constitution. In the third chapter, we
discuss the concepts of interculturalism and transdisciplinary in the process for specific differentiated indigenous education in order to understand how teachers and indigenous students experience these principles in the course of specialization, taking prospects to bring possibilities to recognize and appreciate other cultural and educational systems that will beyond the cultural hierarchy, language and education in the construction of educational policy projects of their schools. And finally, in the fourth chapter, we present the sociolinguistics situation of the mentioned villages, detailing the language uses realities of the Karajá people in their social spheres of linguistic and cultural production in these communities. It is important noting that the sociolinguistic study is authored by Karajá teachers and is the basis of creation of language policies that make up the pedagogical political projects of schools in question. For the presentation and study of these language policies, I support this research in Toral (1992), Pimentel da Silva (2001a, 2004), Walsh (2009), the pedagogical political projects the schools of the villages of Hawalò, Itxala and Btoiry (2014) and interviews with students graduating teachers of the specialization course. I intend, with this work, collaborate with research on language policies vitality of indigenous Brazilian languages, but also and especially with the training of teachers Karajá, providing them grants for study and reflection of contextualized methodologies and intercultural bilingual education to consider the uses and functions of their languages and other, such as the Portuguese language, both inside and outside the school in the process of oral communication and writing.
