Previous issue date: 2012-02-06 / Fundo Mackenzie de Pesquisa / This research is dedicated to the work of the philosopher, historian and German economist Alfred Sohn-Rethel and the contributions that his theory has to offer for the analyses of law. The analysis of the commodity form made by Marx is the starting point for criticism of the theory of knowledge by the author which shows how humans can have a pure knowledge, separated from the empirical level, which Kant refers to when he says of the existence of a priori categories of knowledge. The emergence of conceptual thinking, of formal logic, is the main discussion of his work and base from which to take elements to the analysis of that social phenomenon which we call law.

Polyphibianism : evolving transdisciplinarity into an imaginary organism of living knowledgeLjubec, Ziva January 2015 (has links)
Transdisciplinarity emerged from the urge to grasp the elusive knowledge in the most fertile zone in between and beyond disciplines that escapes even the most elaborate interdisciplinary operations. While interdisciplinary protocol enables experts to operate within foreign disciplines, in the extreme case as diverse as art and science (by inviting artists into scientific departments and vice versa), the production of knowledge remains confined to particular domains. To transcend these confinements and access the knowledge that evades institutionalisation Basarab Nicolescu’s Manifesto of Transdisciplinarity sets up conditions for an open structure to be grown outside the current compartmentalisation into a living knowledge. This thesis imagines a possible evolution of transdisciplinarity into knowledge to be lived internally rather than learnt externally in order to overcome the anxiety in transcending the established culture of disciplinary research. By entering the transdisciplinary zone, the identity of experts-specialists dissolves, even the crudest separation into artists and scientists becomes obsolete. From the illusion of losing control over knowledge arises the fear of a return to archaic, mystic or even shamanic ways of knowing. Far from proposing a return to shamanism in its ancient forms this thesis imagines the way of polyphibianism – an imaginary solution to navigate efficiently the protoplasmic state of knowledge that would be indigenous to culture of disciplinary researchers. With every significant discovery the disciplinary researchers already intuitively trespass into the very zone that the Manifesto of Transdisciplinarity invites them to enter intentionally. From examination of documented introspective inquiries into their act of discovery the thesis infers the necessary sensibilities and adaptabilities of the individuals to cross the borders of their disciplines. Their seemingly lost identity is temporarily restored with the term polyphibian (analogous to amphibian) designating their ability to survive and explore multiple environments. With each change of circumstances in research a polyphibian adapts by swiftly reinventing its instinctive instruments, mutating its organs of knowing, indifferently to conventional habits of thought. Through their introspective writings this thesis investigates the polyphibic aptitude of Henri Poincaré, Henri Bergson and Marcel Duchamp to scout at the periphery of physics, metaphysics and ‘pataphysics, to intuitively anticipate the role of chance, chaos and complexity in both arts and sciences. A threshold of complexity has to be surpassed in order to bring the current apparatus of knowledge to life. Bergson’s insight on laughter and dreams suggests how intellect could transcend itself. The thesis proposes to consider laughter as faculty that could induce self-awareness in the intellectual apparatus while dreams are considered to facilitate self-organisation of intellect on higher orders of awareness. In Deleuzian manner of mutating Bergson’s work into Bergsonism, polyphibianism is a mutation in transcribing the code of Creative Evolution where Bergson insisted on interdependency between the theory of knowledge and the theory of evolution. The scholarly dispute on Bergsonian and anti-Bergsonian tendencies present in Marcel Duchamp’s work is revisited in the thesis by interpreting the higher dimensional Bride as a polyphibic organism of living knowledge with access to higher orders of awareness, able to guide the Bachelor’s apparatus of mechanical production and preservation of knowledge out of its predicament. Informed by peculiar Duchampian experiments that challenged both the domain of art and science the research projects in this thesis consist of an intervention at CERN that tested the impenetrability of institutionalised art-science collaborations and installation of the Interval of Suspended Judgement with high mathematical precision at the threshold between physics and ‘pataphysics. With these projects the problems of categorising researchers into artists and scientists are revealed. As Deleuze suggested, to effectively formulate the problem, to realize it in multiplicity of contexts, a new concept must be invented, a new organism must be conceived. This thesis gave birth to an imaginary organism of living knowledge in order to relieve the unnecessary anxieties and to fully engage in transdisciplinary research.

There are two questions widely discussed by the medievalists about Boethius of Dacia. The first consist in knowing what are the stakes of the censorship of which this philosopher was one of the main targets during the condemnation promulgated in Paris in 1277 by the bishop Etienne Tempier. The second ask if Boethius actually uphold, in his De aeternitate mundi, a doctrine qualified by these same historians as ‘‘double truth’’. If this expression was not coined by Etienne Tempier himself, we nevertheless find, in the prologue to the condemnation of 1277, a formulation which translates the spirit of this expression by affirming that certain teachers said that the same thing is true according to philosophy, but false according to the Catholic faith, so that we are in the presence of two contradictory truths. Despite the consensus, established among historians of the twentieth-century, that Boethius of Dacia never defended such a doctrine, we believe that this question remains topical insofar as the text itself does not seem completely clear when it states that if faith absolutely says the truth, the philosopher also says the truth, but in a manner relative to his principles. However, such a conception is not without problems in regard to the interpretation of the principles governing the epistemology of Boethius. The sole question of our research is therefore to clarify and elucidate this indictment of ‘‘double truth’’ in view of its different texts as well as the different interpretations that his model received.

Missio Dei her zu verstehen sei.
erarbeitet / This dissertation examines the relationship between theological education and missionary challenges
in German-speaking Europe. The central research question is what the changing context and related
missionary challenges of the church signify for a reform of theological training. Voices from an
ecumenical and evangelical perspective are demanding a reform of theological education towards a
missional approach, an approach defined in its identity as well as its function from the Missio Dei. The
following study pursues the question as to what such demands entail and what implications follow for
theological education in general.
The first part presents the ecumenical, evangelical and evangelic impulse towards a reform of theological
education and a link with missionary challenges; theoretic sensibilities and key categories are
developed for the empirical examination. The main section of the study examines the abovementioned
question through a qualitative-empirical study of the leadership of evangelical theological
educational establishments in German-speaking Europe. With the help of half-standardised interviews
of experts, four action samples were presented as possible reactions, according to grounded theory and
by means of typology development. Finally, the results of the empirical examination were evaluated in
the light of the literature and a missional-empirical evaluation was made regarding the theology, the
learning theory and the competence orientation of a missional-theological education.
This dissertation thus makes a threefold contribution. Firstly, it constitutes ecumenical, evangelical
and evangelic contributions and an empirically developed plan of action on the theme of the reform of
theological education in light of missionary challenges. Secondly, it offers a contribution from a missional-
empirical perspective to the discussion of a possible reform of theological education. Thirdly, it
develops a concrete impetus towards the theology, learning theory and competence orientation of a
missional theological education in the German-speaking context / Practical Theology / D. Th. (Missiology)

On the mode of being of intentional objects : the constitutive function of the intellect by Dietrich of Freiberg (1250-1310)Decaix, Véronique 18 March 2013 (has links)
The primary aim is to examine the constitutive function the intellect exercises on the categories and being as being. The first part of this thesis replaces the treatise in the historical background of the late 13th century debates from the University of Paris regarding the nature of categories and the manner of organizing the real genera of being. It compares Dietrich’s deduction of the categories with the systematization of some of his predecessors such as Albert the Great, Thomas Aquinas and Henry of Ghent. The second part of the thesis deals with the objects caused by the intellect: the One as principle of number and division, relation and time. The last part investigates the manner in which the intellect exercises its constitutive power on being and demonstrates in the final analysis that the subject of metaphysics, the quiditative being of things, is placed at the intersection of logic and reality
