This thesis aims to point out the social and psychological constructions of Antonio Carlos Viana‘s characters in Cine Privê collection of short stories (2009), based on the madness and eroticism. Connected to this issue, we are concerned to investigate how the grotesque body is described by the narrator‘s ironic memory, which builds silent characters set in situations of social exclusion, contextualized in decaying spaces. As theoretical and methodological elements, we start from reflections that endorse the relations of power, madness, the grotesque, eroticism and sexuality according to the perspective of Michel Foucault, Gaston Bachelard, Wolfgang Kayser and George Bataille. This research is divided in three chapters: the first one is about the theoretical part which addresses the issues of authorship, discourse and power; the second chapter, talks about the perspective from a narrator-child, presents the analysis of selected short stories through the view of madness and of the grotesque such as: "Santana Quemo-Quemo", "Quando meu pai voltou", "Minha avó Inocência" and "Nós, a maré e o morto ". Finally, the third one discusses in detail the issue of grotesque, sexuality and eroticism in the following short stories: "Cine Privê, "Angeline", "Esperanza", "Dia de parir cabrito", "Eliazar Eliazar" and "Moonlight Serenade". Thus, we intend to discuss in what ways the sexual saturation of Antonio Carlos Viana‘s characters occurs facing a disciplinative and excluding social context, as discourse is via of exclusion, as body and space are taken by repulsive aspects.

Previous issue date: 2013-05-03 / Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Goiás - FAPEG / We have developed, in this work, a study of poetic lines of novels in the portuguese novelist Inês Pedrosa (1962). Recurrent approaches will be investigated, such as: the friendship, the memory, the eroticism and the death in their main novels: A Instrução dos Amantes (1992), Nas tuas Mãos (1997), Fazes-me Falta (2002), A Eternidade e o Desejo (2007) e Os Íntimos (2010). For both, we will depart for a systematic reflexive about friendship, time and memory to understand the ramifications originated from reports of multiple and diverse characters that are on the border of life/death. The hybrid narratives (TADIÉ, 1978) become, in this way, multiple or mirrored. Based on the premise of the constitution of the identity of the female (BATAILLE, 1980; PAZ, 2001), will be prioritized the elements of poetic tissues which divides the reminiscence and allow the presentation of works from the perspective of cultural studies of contemporaneity (BAUMAN, 2003, 2005-b, 2005-d; CEVASCO, 2003).

Figure de la femme dans les romans de Tahar Ben Jelloun / Feminine Figure in the Novels of Tahar Ben JellounRadi, Fakhereeddine 19 January 2012 (has links)
The tragedy of the feminine character in some of Tahar Ben Jelloun's writings, in view of the social, religious, economical and political reality, imposes a hermeneutic analysis of the contours of the authentic situation of the Moroccan woman in the past and in the present. This approach will try, at first, to bring to light, the literary imagination which employs the theme of the fantasy of declination, the exasperated eroticism and the sensual delectation that is unbridled in the core of the narrative structure of the Moroccan author's oeuvres. The analytical study of the feminine figures as presented in the selected novels of this research, will substantiate an exhibition of a stereotypical feminine model. As a matter of fact, this will highlights the persuasion that Tahar Ben Jelloun, who is considered as a francophone author and francophile par excellence, has got a conflictual relationship with some features of the Moroccan culture. This attempt will reveal, at last, the use of a kind of a linguistic nomadism which combines exoticism, oral character and French language in a recycling process of constant and permanent reproducibility.

Les actrices de Sacha Guitry / The actresses in Sacha Guitry's moviesUro, Yves 15 December 2012 (has links)
Sacha Guitry made his own life the main topic of his apparently cheerful and brilliant plays and films which are often also sometimes elegiac and melancholy. Surprisingly in his works, quite a few characters played by him seem to be fascinated by suicide. There is no real boundary in his works between life and theatre and the actresses who were also his wives suffered from this absence of a frontier-line between those two worlds. They also disliked the way he took unfair advantage of their personality in his plays and almost all of them (except Marconi) eventually got tired of being considered as very smart but speechless creatures, although he offered them a very luxurious way of life. He thus lost quite a number of excellent partners (actually he could never really replace Yvonne Printemps, the exceptional player and singer) because, one after the other, they refused to sacrifice their personal life for the benefit of someone with exacting prospects concerning the theatre and the cinema. We shall therefore try to understand why Guitry usually kept up a better relationship with men-actors than with actresses with obvious sex appeal, like his five wives. We shall then examine the perfect friendship he formed with three elderly actresses whose growing age was becoming quite noticeable. We shall try to "bring back to life" the real personalities of the five actresses who also became his wives by resorting to the recent discoveries about "gender" and star-studies. We shall also try to analyze the influence of his narcissistic and chauvinistic attitude upon the lives and careers of these actresses. We shall eventually try to find out what he brought them by his presence and what they added by theirs to his brilliant cinema.

Scores of historical and philosophical studies have been devoted to dreams. However, the notion of deep sleep (as opposed to dreams) seems to have been thoroughly neglected. The present study attempts to fill this gap by analyzing representations of sleepers and theories of sleep in the Renaissance. My working hypothesis is that even though deep sleep appears to be located outside of the realm of consciousness, it amounts nonetheless to a heavily determined notion, both semantically and axiologically. Sleep seems to offer a form of imaginative diversion, as the absence of knowledge gives free rein to fanciful metaphors. At the crossroads of Christian and pagan traditions, Renaissance art offers a cornucopia of representations of sleep. They constitute visual metaphors, deeply influenced by the literature and theoretical writings of the period, on which they had in turn a tremendous impact. Thus, sleep is often equated with sin, as « idle hands are the devil's workshop », but its meaning also depends on the sleeper's attitude, location and context. For instance, sleep can be depicted as an emblem of early childhood or old age (first or last sleep), a metaphor for oblivion (Lethean sleep), a figure of ecstasy and faith (contemplative rest), an image of melancholy (sleep of sadness), of spiritual rapture (vacation of the soul) or sensual ravishment (lethargic eroticism). Whichever the case, sleep always remains an enigma, a Protean concept assuming the shape of virtually unanswerable questions : lethargic images of happiness, love and death that are still haunting the contemporary imagination, « absolute metaphors » constantly reinventing themselves and their history.

This master’s thesis concentrates on the human body ; how it is perceived in the context of social, historical and political norms that shape it. The thesis focuses on the approach of Nelly Kaplan who introduces lifestyles where sexual and moral freedom reigns, to the delight of the protagonists featured in her work. This is accomplished through analysis of three significant works by Kaplan : a collection of short stories called Le Réservoir des sens ; the cult-movie La Fiancée du pirate ; and the narrative Un manteau de fou rire.
Kaplan attacks preconceived and historical prejudices about the male and female body through humour and irony, which leads to Kaplan questioning an outdated paradigm that is the binarity of sexual identities. Her creations are marked by the desire for liberation, which is expressed through an (erotic) revolt carried out by her characters. This act leads them to emancipate themselves from the petite bourgeoisie catholic ideal. Kaplan thus engages in the deconstruction of moral and political rules and proposes a new organization of the world based on respect for individual impulses and desires.

[en] THE EROTICISM IN MURILO MENDES POETRY / [fr] L ÉROTISME DANS LA POÉSIE DE MURILO MENDES / [pt] O EROTISMO NA POESIA DE MURILO MENDESANTONIO CARLOS PEREIRA 29 July 2010 (has links)
erotismo, amor e religiosidade (o sagrado e o profano).
fatais, as misteriosas, as pitorescas, as espiritualizadas, as quais, desencadeando a
A análise desenvolvida
subjetivo do poeta.
Modernismo brasileiro. / [en] The aim of the present work is to reflect upon The eroticism in Murilo
Mendes` Poetry in his book Poesia complete e prosa trying to distinguish between
sensuousness and eroticism, love and religion, i.e., between sacredness and
profanity. In fact, in any reading of his work a link between eroticism, poetry and
religion can be detected. In the studied texts the presence of the woman is
highlighted: the sensuous, fatal, mysterious, picturesque, the spiritual woman who
triggers the erotic feeling of the lyric poet making up the elements of Murilo`s
poetry. Driven by love, desire, passion, sensuality, religion, solidarity and the
sense of justice, the poet develops eroticism in his poetry and goes from the
pleasures of the flesh to the spiritual ones. The study shows that his poetry is
embedded in dreams which excite the libidinous energy realized by the erotic
language or the exhibition of the sensuous parts of the female body. This leads to
an erotic contemplation of the world. Women with surrealistic characteristics
either real or unreal, visible or invisible have been present in his poetry since his
first book, Poems, Poemas. Also, his memory writings should be considered,
The age of the saw , A idade do serrote, which are essencial to understand the
author`s academic education as well as the influence of this education upon his
poetic construction. Thus, by putting together opposite elements the eclectic
writer has been distinguished from the other poets of the Brazilian Modern
Movement.

[en] This work intended to understand the speeches of erotic products market in the construction of new moral conventions that circulate in this context. The analytical approach in their marketing processes were organized through exploratory observations in two Brazilian editions of erotic fairs, as well as the ethnographic experience on a sex shop located in Complexo do Alemão, one of the biggest favelas located in North Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Among the reflections proposed, some issues were raised: How the erotic market produces and transforms hierarchies of gender and sexuality? How their truths transforms contemporary erotic practices? Associated with the reflection of the recent political and economic changes observed in this especially urban space, limits and movement between norm and transgression points to narratives in which the ratings of eroticism is settled in constant dialogue with the civilizing process.

[en] This project analyzes the works of two filmmakers – the Brazilian Carlos Reichenbach, and the Argentinian Alberto Fischerman. Both have made their first films linked to counterculture movements of the 60s and 70s. A few years later, both of them became involved with exploitation productions. This study looks
into the historical contexts in which these productions took place. It will also analyze the way both features were received by film critics. By focusing on these two films and the critical film writing they inspired, this study proposes two questions. First: If these directors, even when doing their exploitation works, have embedded in their productions doses of transgression and irony, which turned upside down what was originally an openly vulgar context. We will also look into the way the critics reacted to this subversive exploitation. In order to better grasp this reception by film pundits, a comparison between the two distinct contexts of Brazil and Argentina can enrich the analysis.

Julien Gracq, texte et sexe : lecture d'une aporie érotique / Julien Gracq, sex and text : Interpreting an erotic aporiaDefaye, Christelle 30 August 2016 (has links)
Reading a fiction by Gracq feels similar to lovers’ delight. To become a Gracq reader, you must accept to be delighted, captured and enchanted all at once. The hermeneutic dispossession experienced through Gracq’s fiction is clearly erotic. No matter how secondary, thin and sporadic, the theme of eroticism may be, it seems to be running throughout the lost profile of the text. All set up and cleared of its substance, the sexual scene disappears from the eyes of the reader-voyeur whose expectation is frustrated. Fiction manages to cover up sex by setting desire within the plot and the reading. The presence-absence of erotic fantasy, as stereotyped and obsessive as it may be, is best consecrated at the crossroads of three impossible matters: sex, women and death. Eroticism by Gracq turns out to be a void around which the reader is waltzing and that the writing manages to grasp. Is the path of eroticism aporetic? It is not that this path is a dead end but rather that the reader is invited to advance and digress in this aporia. Eroticism is always moved, buried within the palimpsest of the landscape. With his successive unmoulding and moulding of words, it becomes clear that language is eroticised with Gracq. He doesn’t picture sex, he features it in his text until it pleases him –all this in the other, that is to say the reader’s eyes. In Julien Gracq’s work, the libidinal issue of literarity is at stake: Gracq’s eroticism transfigures flesh into a pulpit. From sex to text, the author takes on a posture of seduction. The text forms a screen between him and the Other, that is to say the reader. Sex has become text, limen, a border, an essential in-between. It has become the hymen, a touching space between one and the other. The meeting, though often portrayed as impossible, can then happen.
