Både offer och förövare? : Offentliga publikationer om pojkar och unga män som lever i en hederskontext / Both victims and perpetrators? : Publications on boys and young men living in honor context

Esping, Ebba, Holmer, Ebba January 2023 (has links)
Honor-related violence and oppression are societal issues that are relevant to social work. However, it is an under-researched area with a lack of knowledge, especially regarding boys and young men in an honor context. The existing research primarily focuses on girls and women. The aim of this study was to describe the content of public publications regarding social work on honor-related violence and oppression in relation to boys and young men. The focus was to examine how boys and young men in an honor context are described as both victims and perpetrators. In addition to that, the study also aimed to investigate the interventions available for this target group. Thematic content analysis was used to address the research questions and objectives by analyzing and thematizing the content of public publications. The findings of this study indicate that boys and young men exist in dual roles as both victims and perpetrators, but more emphasis is often placed on their role as perpetrators rather than victims, as girls' and women's victimization is considered more extensive. Furthermore, the study suggests that there are few interventions specifically targeted at boys and young men living in an honor context. The available interventions mainly focus on victims. The results have been analyzed using power theory and street-levelbureaucracy theory. The analysis demonstrates that power is a central aspect in both an honor context and the practice of social work, and that the structure of street-level bureaucracy affects work with this target group. Therefore, this study concludes that more knowledge and work are needed regarding boys and young men in an honor context.

Ta det som en man! : En litteraturstudie om kvinnors våld mot män / Take it Like a Man! : A Literature Study on Women’s Violence against Men

Ha, Angela, Seferi, Argnesa January 2022 (has links)
This literature study aims to investigate women’s violence on men. Intimate partner violence (IPV) is well researched within the context of women as victims and men as perpetrators. However, men who fall victim to female-perpetrated IPV is not a known subject to the general public. The study will therefore study men as victims to IPV where women are perpetrators as well different types of violence such as psychological, physical, sexual and digital violence. Men’s experiences as victims of IPV will also touch on their help-seeking experiences which are affected by hegemonic masculinity, stigma and shame. This literature study has used a lot of empirical material that contains qualitative studies from different countries thus making it difficult to draw general conclusions. The purpose is however to discuss the subject in relation to different theories, highlights and understand men's experiences as victims of female-perpetrated IPV.

"Mäns våld mot kvinnor startar med killars våld mot tjejer" : En diskursanalys av hur våld i nära relationer bland unga framställs i svenska tidningsartiklar / "Men's Violence Against Women Starts With Boys' Violence Against Girls" : A Discourse Analysis of How Intimate Partner Violence Amongst Young People Is Portrayed in Swedish Newspaper Articles

Karlsson, Amanda, Ridderborger, Catharina January 2024 (has links)
What's the problem represented to be?".

Förövare inom hedersrelaterat våld och förtryck : En diskursanalys av Kriminalvårdens kunskapsmaterial / Offenders within honor-related violence : A discourse analysis of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service educational materials

Priolo, Julia, Pliakas, Gabriella January 2024 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine how offenders of honor-related violence are portrayed in Swedish prison and probation service educational materials. The thesis is based on critical work as a theoretical frame and intigrated discourse analysis is used as a method. Our method assisted in identifying three distinct discourses. A recurring cultural discourse culturalises the offending, wich was also evident in the privious research. Additionally, the offenders are portayed within a social psychology discourse, in wich migration causes them to lose authority and leading them to resort to violence. Lastly, we were also able to identify a psychopathological discourse. While these findings indicate different representations of the violence, its causes and its offenders, we show that culturalisation of the offender runs as a main thread throughout the material.

: En litteraturstudie om kvinnliga förövare som utsätter barn för sexualbrott / But she’s only a woman? : A literature review about women who commit sexual crimes against children

Jensen, Jennifer, Mirzaei, Zakiah January 2024 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to conduct a systematic literature review with a narrative synthesis to evaluate current knowledge of female-perpetrated sexual offenses against children. It examined public and professional perceptions of these offenders and explored the characteristics attributed to these women. The findings were analyzed through a genderperspective, social cognition theory and cognitive dissonance theory. The results of reviewedarticles indicate that these offenses are a significant social issue due to their convert nature and the societal and professional biases that perceive women as nurturing and safe. These biases, rooted in the sociocultural gender views, hinder the detection of management of suchcrimes. Female offenders are often seen as less severe compared to male offenders, who is considered the typical image of child sexual abuse perpetrators. Despite difficulties in categorizing these women, common factors such as histories of violence, mental health issues, and substance abuse were identified. The study highlights a significant research gap. It calls for an examination of organizational and governmental guidelines and training to improve awareness and understanding, which can enhance protection for vulnerable children and support the development of effective preventive measures.

Allmänhetens uppfattningar om våldsutövande föräldrar : En kvantitativ jämförelse av allmänhetens uppfattningar om allvarlighetsgraden när mammor eller pappor utövar fysiskt våld mot sina barn / The public’s perceptions of abusive parents

Florén, Sofia, Lindborg, Sofia, Nilsson, Emma January 2024 (has links)
Sweden was the first country in the world to ban all forms of child abuse in 1979. Since then, the acceptance of violence against children has decreased, but the practice of violence against children still continues. A positive attitude towards violence against children is associated with parents perpetrating violence against their children. The literature is partly inadequate, but the acceptance of parental violence against their children appears to be lowest in the western countries. This study aimed to investigate the public’s perceptions of abusive mothers and fathers, and differences in these perceptions between women and men as well as guardians and non-guardians. A vignette study with online questionnaires was conducted where the participants (N = 226) had to read a fictional scenario with either a violent mother or father and then take a position on questions and statements about the scenario. The results showed that women perceived the event as more severe compared to men, and guardians perceived the event as more severe compared to non-guardians. The results were conflicting regarding the perception of abusive mothers or fathers. The results were discussed together with previous research, the theory of ideal victims and ideal perpetrators and feminine and masculine gender roles.

I didn't want him to die, I just wanted him to stop" : A Qualitative Text Analysis of Female Perpetrators of Intimate Partner Homicide

Helgevall, Johanna, Dahlberg, Emma January 2024 (has links)
The discourse about intimate partner violence often centers around men’s homicide against women, whereas women’s homicide against men is a topic that rarely receives attention. Hence, this study aims to investigate how female perpetrators of intimate partner homicide rationalize their reasons for committing the act. To address the purpose of the study, the following research questions have been formulated: How do women rationalize committing intimate partner homicide? Which accounts do women use in the court in their reasonings of committing intimate partner homicide? The study does not intend to explain influencing factors but rather to understand the women’s reasonings. The empirical data consists of preliminary investigation protocols. Womens interrogations have been analyzed through qualitative text and thematic analysis. Scott & Lyman’s (1968) theory of accounts and a feminist perspective consisting of Hunnicutt’s (2009) approach to patriarchy within the context of criminology has made up the theoretical framework of the study. Some key findings concern the women’s intimate relationship with the victims. Common in all but one case is that the intimate relationship was characterized by violence, control, and dominance, which urged the women to find a way out of the situation. In most cases, the act was not intentional in the sense that the violence would have a deadly outcome, but rather that the women felt the need to use violence in different situational contexts. The result suggests that the woman, as a victim of intimate partner violence committed homicide in self-defense, as revenge, or as an accident caused by fear. The results also include a case that stands out from the rest, where the relationship was not characterized by any violence or dominance, but where the woman rationalized the homicide as a humanitarian deed.

Eld, Marika, Karlsson, Hanna January 2021 (has links)
In the summer of 2019, ASAP Rocky, or Rakim Meyers as his real name is, was suspectedand later convicted of assault after a gig in Stockholm. The incident and the subsequent courtproceedings received a great deal of attention in the Swedish media. The purpose of this bachelor thesis was to examine the news coverage of the case "ASAPRocky" in the Swedish press. The research questions that were investigated were: How isASAP Rocky presented in news articles in Dagens Nyheter and Aftonbladet? What does the conformation of the role as a victim and perpetrator look like? How does the conformation change during the arrest? We conducted a qualitative content analysis using a question template based on four questions taken from media logic and framing theory. By examining the portrayal of the parties involved and roles as victims and perpetrators, we were able to distinguish that none of the roles are portrayed or lived up to the definition of the roles. One theme in the essay was that ASAP Rocky's celebrity status was in his favor. This theme is also demonstrated when ASAP is embodied in the empirical material.
