The Relationship Between Religiosity and Health-Promoting Behaviors in Pregnant Women

Cyphers, Natalie A., Clements, Andrea D., Lindseth, Glenda 24 November 2016 (has links) (PDF)
Pender’s health promotion model guided this descriptive/correlational study exploring the relationship between religiosity and health-promoting behaviors of pregnant women at Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs). A consecutive sample included women who knew they were pregnant at least 2 months, could read/write English, and visited PRCs in eastern Pennsylvania. Participants completed self-report surveys that examined religiosity, demographics, pregnancy-related variables, services received at PRCs, and health-promoting behaviors. Women reported they “sometimes” or “often” engaged in health-promoting behaviors, Hispanic women reported fewer health-promoting behaviors than non-Hispanic women, and women who attended classes at the centers reported more frequent health-promoting behaviors than those who did not attend classes. In separate multiple linear regressions, organized, non-organized, and intrinsic religiosity and satisfaction with surrender to God explained additional variance in health-promoting behaviors above and beyond what Hispanic ethnicity and attending classes at the PRCs explained in pregnant women at PRCs.

Schmidt, Lena January 2023 (has links)
Swedish school law stipulates that the work of student health teams in schools should be mainly health promoting. However, earlier scientific studies and reports from authorities show that most schools work aren’t. The aim of this study is to investigate how principals in five upper secondary schools organize and lead the health promoting work and what challenges they experience in their leadership with regards to health promoting work. The study is qualitative, based on a content analysis of semi-structured interviews with five upper secondary principals in Sweden. The results of the study show that even though the principals have access to interprofessional health teams and good organizational structures the student health work in four out of five schools mainly focus on remedial work and that more must be done in order develop their health promoting work. More focus must be appointed to developing teaching and teachers and student health team personnel must work closely together. In addition, principals must integrate their health promoting work in the systematic quality work of the school.

Salutogent perspektiv på gymnasielärares hälsa i arbetslivet

Dzubur, Mia January 2023 (has links)

Kommuners beredskap mot värmeböljor / Preparedness against heat waves among local Swedish municipalities

Bengtsson, Märta January 2023 (has links)
Climate change will most likely increase the frequency of weather extremes in the future. Events such as heat waves may occur more often and proceed for longer time. Heat can have a huge impact on people’s health and higher mortality rates during heat waves are seen all over the world. In Sweden the local municipality has the responsibility for both healthcare of elder and community functions like drinking water. This study aimed to investigate how local Swedish municipalities work proactive against heat waves and if that differs between various geographic parts of the country. A survey was sent out to all local municipalities and got a response rate of 43%, 129 answers of 290. The result showed that nearly 83% of the respondents worked proactive against heat waves in some sort. Actions that they reported was mainly about developing routines and buying air conditions. Focus was to locate these actions in facilities like eldercare and healthcare for vulnerable groups. The proactive work was evenly distributed over the country and no geographic variations could be detected. The most prominent way to prevent health issues during heat waves is to be prepared and work with action plans before the heat occurs. This study indicates that proactive work against heat waves is something that a majority of the local Swedish municipalities work with. That can be seen as positive indication of the preparedness for future heat waves.

Distansarbete, en förmån eller en fälla för medarbetarnas hälsa : En kvalitativ studie om friskfaktorer vid distansarbete / Remote Work: A Benefit or a Trap for Employees' Health : A Qualitative Study on Health-Promoting Factors in Remote Work

Eriksson, Johanna, Pettersson, Ella January 2024 (has links)
Kandidatuppsats i Företagsekonomi III, Organisation 15 hp, 2FE78E, Ekonomihögskolan vid Linnéuniversitetet i Kalmar. VT 2024. / Bachelor thesis Business Administration III, Organization 15 credits, 2FE78E, School of Economics at Linnaeus University of Kalmar. Spring 2024. Titel: Remote work, a benefit or a trap for employees health. Authors: Johanna Eriksson and Ella Pettersson Institution: Linnaeus University Subject: Organization Advisior: Anna Larsson Examiner: Mikael Lundgren  Research questions: Which health-promoting factors do employees perceive as crucial for sustainable remote work? Purpuse: The purpose of this study is to increase understanding and contribute knowledge about which health-promoting factors employees consider most crucial for sustainable remote work. A sustainable working life is of great importance, as everyone should be able to work without becoming ill or injured, which reinforces the purpose of a study like this. Method: The study follows an abductive approach based on a qualitative research strategy. The empirical data was collected through eight semi-structured interviews, where the collected material was analyzed, categorized, and interpreted. The study also employed a cross-sectional design. Conclusion: The study shows that awareness of the concept of health-promoting factors is limited, especially at the individual level. The study has identified three central areas for sustainable remote work: ergonomics, communication, and autonomy, which have been constructed as health-promoting factors in remote work. Historically, the focus has been on identifying risk factors in the workplace, but there are signs of a shift where interest in health-promoting factors is increasing at both organizational and societal levels. Furthermore, the study shows that health-promoting factors should be understood in symbiosis with each other rather than as standalone factors. However, it appears that autonomy has greater significance than the other health-promoting factors in remote work.

Skolsköterskors erfarenheter av att arbeta med sexuell och reproduktiv hälsa och rättigheter med ungdomar : En kvalitativ intervjustudie / School nurses´experiences of working with sexual and reproductive health and rights with adolesecents : A qualitative interview study

Holmqvist, Stephanie, Moreau, Frida January 2024 (has links)
Background: Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) is a component of adolescent health, which is generally good but varies at group level. Criticism has been directed at the school's subject-integrated teaching, where student health is not sufficiently involved. School nurses can potentially strengthen young people's sexual and reproductive health and rights. Aim: Investigate school nurses' experiences of working with sexual and reproductive health and rights with adolescents. Method: Semistructured interviews were conducted with eight school nurses, then analyzed according to qualitative content analysis. Findings: Three main categories with subcategories were identified: Student-centered work of school nurses: The health conversation – a cautious entry into SRHR. Group teaching - large variations in scope and content. Open reception - opportunity for young people to talk about SRHR. Collaboration in school: Collaboration with teachers is governed by teachers' wishes and needs. The student health team – collaboration with potential for improvement. Youth reception – support function with varying collaboration. School nurses' prerequisites for working with SRHR: Knowledge - cornerstones for working with the area. Interest, commitment, feelings and values affect the work. Unclear frameworks place high demands on school nurses. Conclusion: School nurses' experiences of working with SRHR with adolescents vary in scope and content. Creating trusting relationships and inclusive environments are described as success factors. Cooperation with teachers takes place based on teachers' needs or on the initiative of school nurses, while at the same time school nurses' responsibilities and tasks are perceived as unclear. Interest in SRHR seems to control both the scope of the work and the inclination to seek new knowledge.

An enquiry into the need for occupational health promotion programmes in selected occupational settings: a nursing perspective / Ondersoek na die behoefte aan beroepsgesondheidsbevorderende programme in geselekteerde beroepsituasies : 'n verpleegkundige benadering

Huiskamp, Agnes Alice 25 August 2009 (has links)
This research is aimed at furthering the health promotion and occupational health objectives of the government as is set out in the "The White Paper for the Transformation of the Health System in South Africa Notice 667 of 1997". The aim of this research was to determine the need for occupational health promotion programmes in selected occupational settings from a nursing perspective. The overall outcome of this research demonstrated that a need exists for occupational health promotion programmes in selected occupational settings. This was illustrated by the literature study and by the information collected through a survey. Three frameworks are proposed, namely a holistic approach to an occupational health promotion programme, an empowerment occupational health promotion approach, and a health promoting nursing framework. In addition, guidelines for the development and implementation of an occupational health promotion programme and a health promotion and health promoting nursing training programme are recommended. It is also recommended that health promoting nursing be included in all nursing practice and nursing training curricula. Recommendations for future research centred on the investigation of the present status of occupational health promotion, research regarding the health promoting workplace and campus that involves all stakeholders, the status of health promotion training, and research similar to this one in other regions of South Africa. The division of occupational health and primary health care in occupational health settings needs to be investigated as well. / Health Studies / M.A. (Advanced Nursing Sciences)

En strukturerad litteraturstudie om hälsofrämjande faktorer för ökat välbefinnande hos anställda / A literature review about work health promoting factors to increase well-being of employees

Ekeflo, Li January 2021 (has links)
Introduction Working with health promoting initiatives in the workplace is important for the wellbeing of public health (Folkhälsomyndigheten, 2021). As stress is used as an indicator to measure public health and since many people are on sick leave due to work-related stress, it is of public health relevance to investigate sustainable solutions for equal public health (Folkhälsomyndigheten, 2020; Försäkringskassan, 2016). Given that the workplace is an important arena for maintaining and promoting the health of the population (Naidoo & Wills, 2016), it is in the interest of the study to investigate health promoting factors using previous empirical material. The Aim The aim of the study is to describe, based on a structured literature study, which health promoting factors that can be successful to increase well-being in the workplace. Method The study was conducted through a structure literature review where ten articles were selected from the databases PubMed and CINAHL. The result from the articles have been further analyzed with thematic analysis. Results The results shows that eight health promotion factors that can contribute to a health-promoting work environment is: Balance, Confirmation, Commitment, Group feeling, Communication, Awareness, Resources, Cooperation, Social climate, and Support which also can be divided into three dimensions on individual, group, and leadership and organizational level. Conclusion There are health promoting factors that can be applied from a holistic perspective and thus affect the overall work culture in the workplace, which can have a positive impact on individuals' well-being.
