La conception phénoménologique de l'espace / Phenomenological Conception of Space / Fenomenologické pojetí prostoru

La thèse se préoccupe de la nature d’expérience que le moi percevant fait avec les autres étants et des conditions qui rendent leur rencontre possible. L’attention est centrée sur le rôle de la spatialité qui représente un caractère distinctif des étants sensibles corporels. La thèse s’inscrit dans le courant de la philosophie néo-phénoménologique. Dans les paragraphes d’introduction, les directives méthodiques de l’approche phénoménologique sont formulées, ainsi que la spécificité de la néophénoménologie,caractérisée comme une pensée qui se distancie de l’égocentrisme dominant la phénoménologie classique, notamment husserlienne. L’exposé part de l’esquisse d’une théorie phénoménologique de la perception (chap. I) et saisit les caractéristiques ontologiques élémentaires des étants donnés (chap. II). Le chapitre suivant traite brièvement les questions concernant la nature du champ phénoménal, caractérisé comme structure de donations possibles des étants (chap. III). Les chapitres suivants décrivent le mode spatial de l’être des étants qui se donnent au moi (chap. IV) et la spatialité propre au moi qui fait expérience (chap. V). L’attention est portée notamment à la liaison essentielle entre l’étant et son contexte ; ce motif est suivi jusqu’à l’insertion de l’étant dans le tout spatial du monde. Quant à la spatialité du moi, son corps est caractérisé comme un corps percevant et perçu,donné du dedans et du dehors à la fois. Le rôle des différences spatiales pour la constitution et la distinction de l’expérience du moi et des autres étants est élucidé. Le chapitre final montre que la spatialité du monde partagé implique aussi les autres moi possibles, ce qui fonde la valeur intersubjective de l’expérience sensible (chap. VI). / Phenomenological Conception of Space. The thesis focuses on the nature of experience which a perceiving self has with other beings and on the conditions which make such an encounter possible. It emphasises the role of the spatiality, which is seen as a defining characteristic of corporeal sensible beings. Broadly speaking, the work belongs to post-phenomenological philosophy. The Introduction summarises the main methodological principles of a phenomenological approach and presents post-phenomenology as a specific discourse which rejects the egocentrism typical of classical, especially Husserlian phenomenology. The exposition proper starts with an outline of a phenomenological theory of perception (Chapter I) and continues by offering an outline of the basic ontological characteristics of sensibly given entities, especially of their trans-empirical nature (Chapter II). The following chapter briefly treats some issues related to the nature of a phenomenal field, which is described as a structure of possible ways in which beings can manifest themselves (Chapter III). The subsequent chapters form the main core of the thesis. They deal with the spatial manner of being of entities which manifest themselves (Chapter IV) and of the self which experiences them (Chapter V). The main emphasis is on the essential bond which connects the given entities with their context,whereby this idea is generalised to the level of situating them within the spatial unity of the world. Regarding the spatiality of self, the main focusis on investigating the bipolar nature of one’s own body as bothperceiving and perceived, an entity which manifests itself internally andexternally, and the role of spatial distinctions in the formation and differentiation of the experience which a self has with itself and withother beings. The concluding chapter implies that a possible other self may be an integral part of the spatially differentiated shared world, thus establishing an intersubjective validity of sensory experience (Chapter V). / Předkládaná práce se zabývá povahou zkušenosti, kterou vnímající já činís jinými jsoucny, a podmínkami, za jakých je takové setkávání možné.Vyzdvihuje přitom zejména roli prostorovosti, která je určujícím znakemtělesných smyslových jsoucen. Práce se řadí do proudu postfenomenologickéfilosofie. V úvodní části jsou vystižena hlavnímetodologická vodítka fenomenologického přístupu a zároveň jeodstíněna post-fenomenologie jako typ myšlení, které se odklání odegocentrismu typického pro klasickou, zejm. husserlovskoufenomenologii. Vlastní výklad vychází od náčrtu fenomenologické teoriesmyslového vnímání (kap. I) a pokračuje vystižením základníchontologických charakteristik smyslově daných jsoucen, zejména jejichtransempirické povahy (kap. II). V následující kapitole se výklad krátcedotýká otázek spojených s povahou fenomenálního pole, jejžcharakterizuje jako strukturu možných daností jsoucen (kap. III). Následujíkapitoly, které tvoří vlastní jádro práce a týkají se prostorového způsobubytí dávajících se jsoucen (kap. IV) a já, jež činí se jsoucny zkušenost (kap.V). Podtržena je zejména bytostná vazba jsoucna na kontext, přičemžúvaha je vedena až k zasazení jsoucna do prostorového celku světa.V případě prostorovosti já je rozvíjena zejména dvojpólovost vlastníhotěla jako vnímajícího i vnímaného, daného zevnitř i zvenčí, a roleprostorových diferencí pro utváření a rozlišení zkušenosti já se sebousamým a s jinými jsoucny. Závěrečná kapitola naznačuje, žek prostorovosti sdíleného světa patří i možná druhá já, což zakládámožnost intersubjektivní platnosti zkušenosti (kap. The historical reference occurred since 1990, when, motivated by productive capital reorganization with effects in space and labor, the State has developed several programs in the context of industrial decentralization in the country. The problem was formulated as follows: what are the causes, the effects and contradictions generated by the spatiality of industrialization in Goiás since the 1990s? In the theoretical sense we interpret the industry’s spatiality in Goiás that weaving up to primary and tertiary sectors through the modernization process, was able to increase the economic growth of Goiás, generating migratory flows and an intense process of urban concentration , however, it did not solve what is more socially urgent: the social inequality and employment. For the research, methodological work is based on the understanding of the industry as part of a universal process with differential expression in the region and place, for which bibliographical, documentary and statistics sources were raised and treated cartographically with further analysis. / Este trabalho, intitulado A ESPACIALIDADE DA INDÚSTRIA EM GOIÁS: a nova marcha para o oeste – o exemplo de Catalão, surgiu com o objetivo de demonstrar a espacialidade da indústria em Goiás e sua conexão com o mundo. A referência histórica se deu a partir de 1990, quando, motivado pela reordenação produtiva do capital com efeitos no espaço e no trabalho, o Estado desenvolveu vários programas no contexto da desconcentração industrial no país. Problematizamos o seguinte: quais são as causas, os efeitos e as contradições geradas pela espacialidade da industrialização em Goiás a partir da década de 1990? No sentido teórico interpretamos a espacialidade da indústria em Goiás que, entrelaçando-se aos setores primários e terciários, por meio do processo de modernização, conseguiu elevar o crescimento econômico do território goiano, gerando afluxos migratórios e um processo intenso de urbanização concentrada, todavia, não resolveu o que é mais premente socialmente: a desigualdade social e o emprego. Para a realização da pesquisa metodologicamente o trabalho se fundamenta na compreensão da indústria como parte de um processo universal com expressão diferenciada na região e no local, para tanto foram levantadas fontes bibliográficas, documentais, fontes estatísticas e tratadas cartograficamente com posteriores análises.

What most caught our attention in our corpus was a certain similarity between the novels in relation to what we may call the “work’s architecture,” since the procedures used in the construction of the novels are in many ways alike. In both of them we have characters who, at some point in the plot, undertake trips to unknown places which they try to comprehend as well as represent in their narratives through different forms and in different discursive genres (such as travel diaries, personal letter, oral narration) present in the novels. Another important similarity refers to the fact that the novels, at various times, present first-person narrators who seek to always represent the spaces from their perceptions and points of view. Another significant characteristic – probably a trademark in Bernardo Carvalho’s style –, is the use of the presence of writing characters who, if they are not presently writing a novel, at least plan to or are really writing a novel, if not the novel we are reading. We are aware that the term “space” has different meaning and theoretical importance in various fields of knowledge as Geography, Art Theory, Physics, Urbanism, Semiotics, Theory of Literature and Narratology among others, nevertheless we tried to use it in this dissertation through a transdisciplinary way, favoring approaches concerning the fields of the Theory of Literature and Narratology. / Esta tese é uma análise sistemática dos aspectos relacionados à representação da espacialidade, assim como de algumas outras estratégias narrativas empregadas por Bernardo Carvalho na construção de dois de seus romances: Mongólia (2003) e O sol se põe em São Paulo (2007). O que mais nos chamou a atenção nesse corpus foi certa semelhança entre os dois romances naquilo que poderíamos denominar de a “arquitetura da obra”, uma vez que os procedimentos narrativos empregados em suas construções se aproximam em muitos aspectos. Neles, temos personagens que, em algum momento da trama, empreendem viagens a lugares desconhecidos, que procuram compreender e representar por meio de diferentes gêneros discursivos (diário de viagem, carta pessoal, relato oral) presentes nos romances. Outra semelhança importante dá-se pelo fato de os romances, em vários momentos, apresentarem narradores em primeira pessoa, que representam os espaços pelos quais se deslocam, quase sempre, a partir de suas percepções e pontos de vista. Outra característica, também significativa, certamente uma marca estilística de Bernardo Carvalho, é a presença, em várias de suas obras, de personagens escritores que, se não escrevem, ao menos planejam escrever ou realmente estão escrevendo um romance, quando não, exatamente a obra que estamos lendo. Considerando todos esses aspectos e ainda cientes de que o termo “espaço” possui significado e importância teórica em vários campos do conhecimento, como a Geografia, a Teoria da Arte, a Física, o Urbanismo, a Semiótica, a Teoria da Literatura, a Narratologia, entre outros, procuramos abordá-lo, nesta tese, sempre que possível, de maneira transdisciplinar, privilegiando as abordagens concernentes aos campos da Teoria da Literatura e da Narratologia.

Trago para pesquisa a voz de autores da literatura coma intenção de circunscrever um terreno fértil e poético da escrita em arte ao buscar refletir sobre a potência criadora que transita entre projeto e construção. / This dissertation is the result of an artistic research developed during the Masters in Visual Arts at the PPGAV / UFPel. The present text refers to the project “Antropope-dra”, initiated during an artistic residence in Argentinian Patagonia in 2015, specifi-cally in a place called Contralmirante Cordeiro, and whose developments led to the processual construction of what I regognized as a Resonant Spatiality called P1. In order to guide this work, I investigate artistic processes located at the intersection between the fields of art and architecture, contextual art and land art. I deliberate some insights I had during a brief digital manufacturing experience. I bring to this research the voice of literature authors in order to circumscribe a fertile and poetic terrain of writing in art as I seek to reflect on the creative power that transits between design and act of building.

Através dos resultados das análises do material lítico, discuto as escolhas tecnológicas empregadas para se obter os instrumentos identificados, procurando compreender a execução da cadeia operatória de produção e a funcionalidade destes objetos e de que maneira estas escolhas auxiliam na compreensão da utilização e ocupação do espaço, além de abranger outros aspectos compreendidos dentro da dinâmica social e econômica destes portadores da cerâmica Tupiguarani que habitaram no passado a região do Médio Rio Doce. Paralelamente, apresentamos uma discussão a respeito de como os conceitos de cultura e civilização, advindos do pensamento ocidental, influenciaram de sobremaneira os arcabouços teóricos e metodológicos da pesquisa científica e na construção de um discurso colonialista da qual a arqueologia participou ativamente. / This study is focused on the analysis of the results of the lithic material from the archaeological site Florestal I, located in the Middle Rio Doce region. Through the results of the lithic material analysis, we discuss the technological choices used to obtain the identified tools, trying to understand the implementation of the operative production chain and the functionality of these objects and how these choices help to understand the use and occupation of space and covers other aspects understood within the social and economic dynamics of these Tupiguarani ceramic bearers who lived in the past the region of the Middle Rio Doce. At the same time, we present a discussion of how the concepts of culture and civilization, arising from the Western thought, greatly influenced the theoretical and methodological frameworks of scientific research and construction of a colonialist discourse which archeology participated actively.

The spatiality of a viewer. A comparative exhibition analysis of Hilma af Klint's work The ten largestthrough two different spatialities.I have studied a viewer’s encounter with Hilma af Klint’s work The ten largest through two differentspatialities, the exhibition room at Moderna Museet Malmö and Moderna Museet Malmös Instagramaccount. With my research, I have wanted to get an insight into how a digital room such as an Instagramaccount can function as an exhibition room for art in a time when more and more is digitalized, whichescalated during the year when physical experiences were limited due to a global pandemic. Through acomparative exhibition analysis of the two different spaces and with the help of phenomenological theoryprimarily based on Maurice Merleau-Ponty further developed by Bia Mankell and phenomenologicaltheory in the digital based on Emmanuel Alloa, the Instagram account has been set in relation to theexhibition room at the museum. This comparative analysis showed that the two spatialities as exhibitionroom for the same work is both two separated exhibitions with characteristics influenced by space theyare shown through but also as two inevitably intertwined exhibitions and spaces influenced by each otherand each other's characteristics. / Populärvetenskaplig sammanfattningI den här uppsatsen har jag undersökt en betraktares möte med Hilma af Klints verk De tio största genomtvå olika rumsligheter, visningsrummet på Moderna Museet Malmö samt Moderna Museet Malmösinstagramkonto. Jag har med min undersökning velat få en inblick i hur ett digitalt rum så som ettinstagramkonto kan fungera så ett visningsrum för konst i en tid då mer och mer digitaliseras, vilket underåret eskalerat då fysiska upplevelser begränsats på grund av en global pandemi. Genom en komparativutställningsanalys av de två olika rumsligheterna och med hjälp av fenomenologisk teori framföralltutifrån Maurice Merleau-Ponty vidareutvecklad av Bia Mankell och fenomenologisk teori i det digitalautifrån Emmanuel Alloa har instagramkontot satts i relation till visningsrummet på museet. Dennakomparativa analys ledde fram till en syn på de två rumsligheterna för samma verk både som två separatautställningar med egenskaper påverkade av det rum de visas genom men även som två oundvikligensammanflätade utställningar och rum påverkade av varandra och varandras egenskaper.

Utilisant un cadre théorique hybride, mêlant travaux de géographie, notamment culturelle, et approche littéraire et stylistique, ce travail de thèse interroge les diverses spatialités mccanniennes et leur écriture, mais aussi les implications éthiques et esthétiques de cette articulation. Il étudie la manière dont la représentation de ces spatialités pousse l’écriture à chercher son équilibre, alors qu’elle s’inscrit dans des espaces diégétiques et narratifs caractérisés par l’entre-deux et l’hybridité. Ces deux notions sont placées au cœur d’un corpus mu par un élan irréductible et kaléidoscopique, définissable comme une quête d’équilibre et dont éthique et esthétique constituent les facettes les plus essentielles.Sont donc observées les formes et modalités des spatialités mccanniennes, la relation que les personnages entretiennent avec elles, ainsi que leur inscription dans un contexte contemporain. L’écriture de l’entre-deux et de l’hybridité, sources potentielles d’équilibre comme de déséquilibre, est également analysée. On voit enfin comment ces états intermédiaires sont propices à un élan impliquant la création de lignes dynamiques constituant un mouvement vers l’Autre. Cet élan interroge bien souvent la relation avec l’Art et avec l’Autre, ainsi que l’équilibre parfois problématique entre esthétique et éthique. It focuses on the writing of space, place and landscape, as well as on its ethical and aesthetical aspects. It analyses the way representing these spatialities forces the texts to try and find some sense of balance while the realities they describe and the world they were written in are characterised by in-betweenness and hybridity. These notions are at the core of this corpus, which is defined by an impetus that is both irrepressible and kaleidoscopic and that can be defined as a quest for balance in which ethics and aesthetics play a most essential role.The forms those spatialities can take, the bond the characters have created or create with them as well as the way they are inscribed in the contemporary world are analysed. This study also examines the writing of in-betweenness and hybridity, which can be factors of both balance and imbalance. This intermediarity encourages the development of an impulse which means creating dynamic trajectories towards the Other. This impetus interrogates relationships to Art and Otherness, as well as the (im)balance between aesthetics and ethics. It is therefore particularly relevant to scrutinize the latent contradictions between these two poles but also the creative, sometimes even democratic potential of their interactions.

This thesis project aims to contribute knowledge to the field of user experience design in games by examining the relationship between presence and wayfinding in games in order to determine how one might design wayfinding systems that simultaneously facilitate player navigation and create a sense of presence. Based on examining and comparing existing literature on wayfinding and presence in games, and by analyzing existing games that accomplish the aforementioned dual purpose, I formulate a set of hypothetical design principles for presence-creating wayfinding design. The validity of these principles is then put to test by creating and testing a digital prototype where participants are tasked with navigating a virtual space. The testing of the practical application of these principles reveals them to be largely viable, demonstrating the viability of designing wayfinding solutions for games that simultaneously facilitate presence.

I have selected three of the most known and well preserved travelogue texts: Egeria's travels, Jeromé s Epitaphium Paulae and Itinerarium Burdigalense. In this essay I will use the theories of practical knowledge to analyse expression of emotions, corporeality and spatiality. I will use a qualitative-inductive method and a hermeneutic method and also a comparative method to compare the expression.
