In den letzten 20 Jahren näherte sich der einst nur für die Luft- und Raumfahrt entwickelte kohlenstofffaserverstärkter Kunststoff (CFK) mehr und mehr der industriellen Umsetzung in anderen Bereichen an. Die CFK-Halbzeuge und -Bauteile sind nun auch preislich in der Lage, unter Anwendung angepasster Fertigungsverfahren breiter eingesetzt zu werden. Der Fokus dieser Arbeit richtet sich exemplarisch auf die kosten- und energieeffiziente Herstellung von schnell laufenden CFK-Verbundwalzen und soll aufzeigen, dass Kostenersparnisse über Leane Fertigungsmethoden auch in der FKV-Industrie von großem Vorteil sind. Somit liefert diese Dissertationsschrift einen beispielgebenden Beitrag für den Durchbruch von Faserverbund-werkstoffen im industriellen Bereich. Darüber hinaus werden durch Prozessoptimierung Alternativen aufgezeigt, qualitativ hochwertigere und gleichsam kosteneffiziente Bauteile herzustellen.

六標準差(Six Sigma)為目前最受矚目與重視的品質活動,而精實生產方式(Lean Production System)係以及時化(Just-In-Time, JIT)及自働化(Jidohka)兩大概念,所發展出來的合理化生產系統。此二者俱以變異為基礎的思考(Variation-based Thinking),協助企業改善流程、提昇品質、生產力與競爭地位,其整合並被視為下一波管理思潮的新趨勢。
此外,若論及產業特性,服務產業有別於製造業,其特有的服務(Service)、交易業務(Transaction)與其他非製造性(Non-Manufacturing)流程,往往存在更多浪費與更多的改善機會,卻更為強調顧客滿意經營。
本研究鑑於研究缺口與實務發展之需,提出六標準差與精實生產方式應用於服務業之整合模式(Lean Six Sigma for Service,LS3)。本模式以精實生產方式減少內部浪費,並以六標準差導向顧客滿意之追求,不但兼顧企業內部與外部顧客之觀點,亦兼顧精實速度與六標準差之高品質。 / “Six Sigma” is one of the most popular quality initiatives recently. “Lean Production System” is the world famous production system developed and practiced by Toyota mobile company for a long time. It based on two concepts: “Just-In-Time” and “Jidohka”. Both two are based on the variation thinking to improve business process, enhance quality, production and competitive position. Besides, the integration of them is viewed as a new trend in the next management wave.
Moreover, regarding to the industry characteristics, service industry is quite different from manufacturing industry. Even though there are more wastes and improvement opportunities, the application of Six Sigma, Lean Production System or their integration in service industry is quite few neither in literatures nor practice.
This research proposes the Lean Six Sigma integration model based on the research gap and the practical need, and then adapt it for service industry. The model is named as “Lean Six Sigma for Service (LS3)” in this research. It balances the viewpoints of internal and external customers, and gives consideration to the Lean speed as well as Six Sigma high quality. Purpose – The purpose of the study is to identify a distribution center's deficiencies in the warehouse layout and article placement to enable streamlining in the order picking process. In order to enable a response to the purpose, the following three questions have been formulated: 1. What problems may occur in the warehouse layout of a distribution center that affects the effectiveness of the order picking process? 2. What problems may occur in the article placement at a distribution center that affects the effectiveness of the order picking process? 3. What improvements can be made to the warehouse layout and article placement at a distribution center to streamline the order picking process? Method – In order to define the problem area, a pilot study was conducted at a distribution center, which formed the purpose and questions of the study. To enable its answer, a case study and literature review has been conducted as methods. The case study consisted of observations, surveys, document studies and benchmarking to generate empirical data to the study. Literature review has been designed to create a theoretical framework around warehouse layout and article placement effect on the order picking process. The data collected has then been analyzed and discussed to enable improvement proposals. Findings – Several problems have been identified in the warehouse layout and article placement that directly impact the order picking process. In order to prevent and change these problems, understanding the complexity of warehouse building is required. It is important to have a clear strategy for which articles that are considered most important to the company. A recommendation may be to place the most high-frequency products in connection with the packing station. Once the strategy is determined, the storage systems can be dimensioned and the route method set. When all these processes interact with each other, a more efficient order pick will occur, which will allow companies to reduce costly waste. Implications – The authors have founded the study within a problem area where there already exist a lot of theories. Therefore the implication of the study consisted of highlighting a new point of view of the already existing theory of warehouse layout, article placement and order picking. The new point of view, therefore, can assist businesses to get a better discussion and understanding of how their warehouse layout and article placement should be designed, which may allow the study to affect the development of other companies. Limitations – The limitations of the study consist of studying only one business as well as some lack of information. Should more businesses and respondents be presented within the study, more deficiencies could have been identified and the results had become more credible and generalizable. Some missing information has also affected the study. Within improvement measures, there was no access to some article information required in the ABC-analysis. Furthermore, poles were discovered in the warehouse layout that affected the formation of the improved warehouse layouts. The lack of information may therefore have affected the final result.

Previous issue date: 2015-12-07 / In view of the substantial advancement in competiveness, there has been a growing interest toward debates over the potentiating mechanisms of new technologies implementations for managing the companies' operations, perceived as a organizations support ballast, and required in a globalized world, where the consumers' powerful influence has attained undeniable relevance. However, reality has shown difficulties in including these approaches in some Brazilian companies, especially in smaller ones. Incontestably, one of the barriers are the resource limitations coupled with the few low cost credit alternatives offered at the national market for this company segment. In view of this scenario, independent consultants must face the huge challenge of internalizing in these organizations models of management which are more coherent with the present economical dynamics, having as additional obstacles the natural cultural resistance against the incorporation of some recent administration philosophies, which question the traditional concepts and hold unique views, but are equally able to cause potential effective results, at low costs. This work aimed, on one hand to evaluate the context within which the small organizations are included, and on the other hand, to propose a technological model support to consultancy focused on this special business segment, in which the consultants assume preponderantly the role of educator and coach, with a view towards increasing the chances not only of implementation of updated operation management techniques, but also of its definitive incorporation in the organizations / Com o substancial avanço da competitividade, crescem os interesses pela discussão de mecanismos potencializadores de implantação de novas tecnologias de gestão das operações das empresas, percebidas como um lastro de sustentação das organizações, necessário num mundo globalizado, no qual o poder de influência dos consumidores tem ganhado inegável relevância. Entretanto, a realidade tem revelado dificuldades de inclusão dessas abordagens em algumas empresas brasileiras, sobretudo naquelas de menor porte. Uma das barreiras são, indiscutivelmente, as limitações de recursos, aliadas às poucas alternativas de crédito de baixo custo disponibilizadas no mercado nacional para este segmento de empresas. Diante deste cenário, consultores independentes têm o enorme desafio de internalizar nestas organizações modelos de gestão mais coerentes com a dinâmica da economia atual, tendo como obstáculos adicionais as resistências culturais naturais à incorporação de algumas filosofias de administração modernas como o Lean e a Teoria das Restrições, questionadoras de conceitos tradicionais e detentoras de visões singulares, mas igualmente potencializadoras de resultados efetivos, a um baixo custo. Este trabalho propõe uma organização para o processo de abastecimento de estruturas metálicas na construção de um prédio comercial, correlacionando a logística de suprimento do canteiro com a montagem das estruturas metálicas. A proposta foi desenvolvida a partir dos conceitos da logística empresarial e da concepção construtiva lean originário do Sistema Toyota de Produção e, posteriormente, foram aplicados em outros setores como o da construção civil. Para enfatizar problemas críticos do processo abastecimento de materiais e identificar suas soluções, foi estudada uma proposta logística para o suprimento das
estruturas em uma obra localizada no Centro da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. A sincronização entre a atividade logística e o processo de montagem das estruturas seguiu a lógica lean de redução de tempos de espera, de eliminação de estoques em canteiro, como condição para a melhoria de produtividade da obra. Foi analisado
o mapeamento da cadeia de valor do fluxo de materiais e operações compreendidos entre o depósito de estruturas e a obra, verificando o balanceamento de atividades de produção e os possíveis ganhos de produtividade. Os resultados obtidos
evidenciariam potencial de ganho na medida em que fornece justificativas para a aplicação das atividades logísticas e das ferramentas lean na proposta de suprimento de estruturas. A proposta logística apresentada integra os fabricantes de estruturas com a obra e principalmente reduz as esperas e estoques em processo, que são considerados desperdícios na concepção construtiva lean. Conclui-se, portanto, que a logística é fator decisivo na viabilidade de qualquer processo
construtivo, e que, especificamente, sob os conceitos do sistema de construção lean, reúne condições para a melhoria de produtividade do processo construtivo e por conseguinte aumento de competitividade. / In this Work is proposed the organization for structural steel supply process in the construction of a commercial building, correlating the supply logistic of the site with the assembly of the steel structures. The proposal was developed using the
concepts of business logistic and of the original lean construction conception that was developed by Toyota Production system and later applied in other sections as
the one of the building site. In order to emphasize critical problems of the provisioning process of materials and to identify there the main solutions, it was studied a logistic proposal for the supply of the structures in a located work downtown of Rio de Janeiro. The synchronization between the logistics activity and the structures assembly process followed the lean logic of reduction of wait time, of elimination of stocks in construction site, as condition for the improvement of the productivity of construction. It was analyzed the value stream mapping of the
materials flow and operations understood between the structures warehouse and the construction site, verifying the swinging of production activities and the possible productivity gains. The obtained results would evidence potential earnings in the measure that it supplies justifications for the application of logistics activities and of the lean tools for structural steel supply. The proposal presented logistic integrates the manufacturers of structures with the work and mainly it reduces the waits and stocks in process, that wastes are considered in lean constructive conception. We can conclude that the logistic is a decisive factor in the viability of any construction process, and that, specifically, under the concepts of lean construction system, it gathers conditions for the improvement of productivity of the constructive process and consequently increase of competitiveness.

Analysis of material flow and simulation-based optimization of transportation system : The combination of simulation and Lean to evaluate and design a transportation systemVuoluterä, Fredrik, Carlén, Oliver January 2018 (has links)
The thesis has been performed in cooperation with a Swedish manufacturing company. The manufacturing site of the company is currently implementing a new machine layout in one of its workshops. The new layout will increase the product flow to another workshop on the site. The goal of the thesis was to evaluate the current transportation system and suggest viable alternatives for the future product flow. By means of discrete event simulation these alternative solutions would be modelled and subsequently optimized to determine if their performance is satisfactory. An approximated investment cost of the solutions would also be estimated. By performing a literature review and creating a frame of reference, a set of relevant methodologies were selected to provide a foundation to the project. Following these methodologies, the current state of transportation was identified and mapped using Value Stream Mapping. Necessary data from the current flow was identified and collected from the company computer systems. This data was deemed partly inaccurate and further verification was needed. To this end, a combination of Genchi Genbutsu, assistance from onsite engineers and a time study was used to verify the unreliable data points. The data sets from the time study and the company data which was deemed valid were represented by statistical distributions to provide input for the simulation models. Two possible solutions were picked for evaluation, an automated guided vehicle system and a tow train system. With the help of onsite personnel, a Kaizen Event was performed in which new possible routing for the future flow was evaluated. A set of simulation models portraying the automated guided vehicle system and the tow train system were developed with the aid of simulation software. The results from these models showed a low utilization of both systems. A new set of models were developed, which included all the product flows between the workshops. The new flows were modelled as generic pallets with the arrival distribution based on historical production data. This set of models were then subject for optimization with regard to the work in process and lead time of the system. The results from the optimization indicates the possibility to reduce the overall work in process by reducing certain buffer sizes while still maintaining the required throughput. These solutions were not deemed to be ready for implementation due to the low utilization of the transportation systems. The authors instead recommend expanding the scope of the system and including other product flows to reach a high utilization.

Advanced Planning (APQP) is a structured method, contained in Norm ISO/TS 16:949:2002, which aims to define and execute the actions required for a PDP in order to ensure that the product satisfies the customer. It´s greatest contribution is to facilitate communication among all people and activities. Although the APQP has been used primarily by the automotive
industry, the possibility to apply this method for the white goods industry is considered, mainly due to this industry has been precursor of many methods, such as lean production. Furthermore, the search for a developing standardized products method could facilitate the work of automotive and white goods suppliers. The lean production has also contributed to the optimization of resources and administrative
proceedings in these industries. Thus, this standardized method could include the use of some lean production tools. The aim of this work is to characterize the use of APQP in white goods and automotive industries suppliers and more specifically, to evaluate the possible failures in these suppliers product development process, and to discuss the importance of tools in each step of APQP and the application of these to white goods industry. The hypotheses were made concerning the possible simplification of this standard method, the integration of areas, the knowledge obtained in the implementation of APQP and facilities of lean production and six sigma for the implementation of APQP. The chosen method for this work was the description of five case studies made in companies of the electro electronic and chemical fields, which are suppliers of both industries cited. In these companies a representative of the automotive and one of white goods industry were interviewed. The research finds that it´s possible to use the APQP method in the white goods as well as it shows white goods companies which have already requested it to suppliers. It also describes the PDPs of each company, highlights the major failures in the methods used
and describes an overview of the automotive and white goods industries PDPs. A proposal to APQP application with some lean production tools is presented in the final chapters. / A troca de conhecimento e a otimização dos recursos são cada vez mais necessárias para o Processo de Desenvolvimento de Produtos (PDP) em empresas. O Planejamento Avançado da Qualidade do Produto (APQP) é um método estruturado, contido na Norma ISO/TS 16:949:2002, que busca definir e executar as ações necessárias para um PDP, a fim de assegurar que um produto satisfaça o cliente. Sua maior contribuição se dá no sentido de facilitar a comunicação entre todas as pessoas e atividades. Apesar de o APQP ter sido utilizado primeiramente pela indústria automotiva, considera-se a possibilidade de utilização deste para a indústria de linha branca, devido principalmente à primeira indústria ter sido precursora de diversas ferramentas, como a produção enxuta. Além disto, a busca por um método de desenvolvimento de produtos padronizados poderia facilitar o trabalho em fornecedores das indústrias automotiva e de linha branca. A produção enxuta também tem contribuído para a otimização dos recursos de processo e administrativos nestas indústrias. Assim, este método padronizado poderia contemplar a utilização de algumas ferramentas da produção enxuta. O objetivo deste trabalho é caracterizar a utilização do APQP em fornecedores dos setores de linha branca e automotivo e mais especificamente, avaliar as possíveis falhas no processo de desenvolvimento de produtos destes fornecedores, além de discutir a importância das ferramentas disponíveis em cada etapa do APQP e a aplicação destas para a linha branca. As hipóteses construídas são relacionadas com a possível simplificação deste método padrão, a integração das áreas, o conhecimento adquirido na aplicação do APQP e a facilidade das ferramentas da produção enxuta e seis sigma para a implantação do APQP. O método escolhido para a realização deste trabalho foi a relização de cinco estudos de casos feitos em empresas do setor eletroeletrônico e químico, que fornecem para ambas as indústrias citadas. Nestas empresas, foram entrevistados um representante do setor automotivo e um da linha branca. A pesquisa conclui ser possível a utilização do método APQP para a linha branca, inclusive relata montadoras da linha branca que já o solicitam aos fornecedores. Também descreve os PDPs de cada empresa, enfatiza as principais falhas nos métodos utilizados e descreve uma visão geral do PDP do setor automotivo e do setor de linha branca. Uma proposta de utilização do APQP com algumas ferramentas da produção enxuta é apresentada nos capítulos finais.

In this context, the Engineering to Order Capital Goods Industry, exposed to a very adverse market conditions such as high cyclical instability of demand for its products, which depends exclusively on the economy expansion moments, causing, therefore, longer cycles of fluctuation demand with long periods of stagnation followed by periods of high demand, have sought for modern production management strategies, already consolidated in more dynamic segments of the economy, such as lean production and the theory of constraints, to improve production flow and minimize the impact inherent in these production systems with high variety and low volume production, high levels of work-in-process, functional production layouts, high varied workloads, excess of materials handling, etc. This paper studies the Engineering to Order Capital Goods Industry, especially large capital goods, also known as Large Assemblies production systems, aiming to propose a method of joint implementation of lean principles and theory of constraints to simplify the material and information flow, propose the use of suitable SCO (ordering systems) and reduce production lead time in this environment. / Ao longo do tempo, a tarefa de desenvolver e gerir sistemas de produção tem se tornado progressivamente mais complexa e, atualmente, para enfrentar as mudanças de demandas dos clientes e a competição global, os gestores têm a difícil tarefa de combinar a eficiência da produção em massa com a customização da era produção artesanal pré-industrial. Neste contexto, a Indústria de Bens de Capital Sob Encomenda, expostas a condições de mercado muita adversas, como a alta instabilidade cíclica de demanda por seus produtos, que depende exclusivamente dos momentos de expansão da economia causando, portanto, ciclos mais longos de flutuação da demanda com longos períodos de estagnação seguidos por períodos de alta demanda, têm buscado estratégias modernas de gestão da produção, já consolidadas em segmentos mais dinâmicos da economia, como a produção enxuta e a teoria das restrições, para melhorar o fluxo de produção e minimizar o impacto inerente desses sistemas de produção com alta variedade e baixos volumes de produção, altos níveis de estoque em processo, produção em layouts funcionais, cargas de trabalho muito variadas, excesso de movimentação de materiais, etc O presente trabalho estuda o setor de bens de capital sob encomenda, em especial os bens de capital de grande porte, também conhecidas como sistemas de produção de grandes montagens, com objetivo de propor um método de implantação conjunta dos princípios da produção enxuta e da teoria das restrições para simplificar o fluxo de materiais e informações, propor a utilização dos Sistemas de Coordenação de Ordens adequados e reduzir o lead time de produção nesse ambiente.

Este trabalho propõe uma organização para o processo de abastecimento de estruturas metálicas na construção de um prédio comercial, correlacionando a logística de suprimento do canteiro com a montagem das estruturas metálicas. A proposta foi desenvolvida a partir dos conceitos da logística empresarial e da concepção construtiva lean originário do Sistema Toyota de Produção e, posteriormente, foram aplicados em outros setores como o da construção civil. Para enfatizar problemas críticos do processo abastecimento de materiais e identificar suas soluções, foi estudada uma proposta logística para o suprimento das
estruturas em uma obra localizada no Centro da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. A sincronização entre a atividade logística e o processo de montagem das estruturas seguiu a lógica lean de redução de tempos de espera, de eliminação de estoques em canteiro, como condição para a melhoria de produtividade da obra. Foi analisado
o mapeamento da cadeia de valor do fluxo de materiais e operações compreendidos entre o depósito de estruturas e a obra, verificando o balanceamento de atividades de produção e os possíveis ganhos de produtividade. Os resultados obtidos
evidenciariam potencial de ganho na medida em que fornece justificativas para a aplicação das atividades logísticas e das ferramentas lean na proposta de suprimento de estruturas. A proposta logística apresentada integra os fabricantes de estruturas com a obra e principalmente reduz as esperas e estoques em processo, que são considerados desperdícios na concepção construtiva lean. Conclui-se, portanto, que a logística é fator decisivo na viabilidade de qualquer processo
construtivo, e que, especificamente, sob os conceitos do sistema de construção lean, reúne condições para a melhoria de produtividade do processo construtivo e por conseguinte aumento de competitividade. / In this Work is proposed the organization for structural steel supply process in the construction of a commercial building, correlating the supply logistic of the site with the assembly of the steel structures. The proposal was developed using the
concepts of business logistic and of the original lean construction conception that was developed by Toyota Production system and later applied in other sections as
the one of the building site. In order to emphasize critical problems of the provisioning process of materials and to identify there the main solutions, it was studied a logistic proposal for the supply of the structures in a located work downtown of Rio de Janeiro. The synchronization between the logistics activity and the structures assembly process followed the lean logic of reduction of wait time, of elimination of stocks in construction site, as condition for the improvement of the productivity of construction. It was analyzed the value stream mapping of the
materials flow and operations understood between the structures warehouse and the construction site, verifying the swinging of production activities and the possible productivity gains. The obtained results would evidence potential earnings in the measure that it supplies justifications for the application of logistics activities and of the lean tools for structural steel supply. The proposal presented logistic integrates the manufacturers of structures with the work and mainly it reduces the waits and stocks in process, that wastes are considered in lean constructive conception. We can conclude that the logistic is a decisive factor in the viability of any construction process, and that, specifically, under the concepts of lean construction system, it gathers conditions for the improvement of productivity of the constructive process and consequently increase of competitiveness.
