As personagens femininas em Helder Macedo : Pedro e Paula, Sem Nome e NatáliaRibeiro, Paula Bohrer January 2014 (has links)
This thesis aims to accomplish a reading of the novels by the Portuguese writer Helder Macedo, Pedro e Paula, Sem Nome e Natália, considering as the main point of the analysis the construction of female protagonists. The fiction of the Portuguese writer Helder Macedo uses narrative devices permeated by uncertainty and probabilities to compose complex female personalities and construct worlds that combine historical facts and fictional events. From these worlds, we intend to reflect on the role of women in contemporary society. In order to do so, we make a study of the historical context, the appropriation of intertextual references and the representation of the characters that inhabit the novels, using the contribution of the considerations made by the feminist criticism about the issues on the subject, identity, gender, sex and sexuality. Thus, we intend to interpret the female characters and the representation of the female subject raised by them.

The goal of this dissertation is to discuss how the Mozambican writer Mia Couto problematizes the identity of the African people, since the representation of the characters points out, often to reflections that revolve around the issues of globalization and postmodernity. I chose the book O outro pé da sereia as the main corpus of this research because it’s a book that seeks to deconstruct those archetypes about Africa and its peoples represented in the imagination of Western society - an image that was built from a Eurocentric view. In this perspective, I have identified that the work of Mia Couto presents a nihilistic view about the identity constructs and thus problematizes as well as demystifies Africa as a place of return of the Diaspora in search of their roots. From this crop I sought to question from a Nietzschean perspective, how social factors affect the formation of subjectivity of each individual, seeking no longer a fixed truth about the identity of Africans, but to whom and for what are we seeking that Truth, noting the challenges and tensions of modern society represented in its works before the challenges of contemporary times. This dissertation sought to discuss and present the constructs identity from factors judged important as post-modernity, nation, race and cosmopolitanism.

The work proposes an analysis of three works of the Mozambican writer Mia Couto, Antes de nascer o mundo, Um rio chamado tempo, uma casa chamada terra and A varanda do frangipani , with the intent to reflect about how identities and memories, individual and collective, are represented in narratives. For a discussion of identity it was used, among others, Stuart Hall, and to reflect on memory, was used an anthropological study of Joël Candau among other theorists. This dissertation studies also the language, the narrator, the character, finally, some of the elements that are part of the literary creation of Mia Couto.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This dissertation aims mainly to make a comparative study of the renaissance and baroque aesthetic
resources in epics, using, therefore, The Lusiads (1572), which is a heroic poem on the Portuguese
maritime expansion, and Paradise Lost (1667), by John Milton, better known and studied as a
protestant humanist epic about the fall of the first human couple. The main theoretical basis for this
study is the formulations of Gilbert Highet (1954), Anazildo Vasconcelos da Silva (1984, 1987,
2007) and Christina Ramalho (2013) on the epic genre and the classical tradition. There were also
major contributions to this work: Joaquim Nabuco (1872), Bowra (1950), Metzer and Coogan
(2002) and Saraiva and Lopes (2010). The aspect of comparison between the works is the
permanence of classical mythology in the literary plan of the works. Therefore, it was adopted
Hesiod (1995, 1996) as a mythographic source, because of the educational intentions of his works.
The Lusiads are considered, according to the theory of literary speech and semiotization of Anazildo
Vasconcelos da Silva, a renaissance epic and, thus it contains the reference to authors, works and
pagan mythology present in the classic epic model (Iliad, Odyssey), besides the balance between
thought and emotion and the formulation of universalizing concepts. While Paradise Lost is
understood as a work of baroque epic model, which proposes the projection of the poetic persona in
the narrative, the narrator as agent of the character subjective logic and sentimentalization of the
epic proposition. Although, both have what Gilbert Highet calls classic influence. In other words,
they are impregnated by classical thought, whose presence in the body of the poems varies in
strength, importance and penetration. Consequently, this research will specifically treat the ways
how the classic influence manifests in Camões and John Milton epics.
respeito do gênero épico e a tradição clássica. Também foram contribuições importantes: Joaquim
Nabuco (1872), Bowra (1950), Metzer e Coogan (2002) e Saraiva e Lopes (2010).
e obras e à mitologia pagã presentes no modelo épico clássico (Ilíada e Odisseia), além do

The actual work has the purpose to study two novels : Caderno de memórias coloniais e O retorno, de Isabela Figueiredo e Dulce Maria Cardoso, respectively, both authors contemporary portugueses , when child , living the experience of colonization in Africa and return to the ex-metropolis after the decolonization. Beyond they accost the same theme, although about different perspectives, both narrative presents the father as a leading figure, giving emphasis in his role like colonizer and his representativeness inside the family. Intend , therefore, discuss, from the fiction, in what way the experience of decolonization manifests itself, understand the positioning of the characters against this situation and its consequences. Therefore, we seek to investigate, considering the perspectives inside both texts, the fictionalization of the recovery of memory and post-memory from individual in condition of returned and against the necessity of rebuild his life after the land out. Through the questioning of the situation submitted in the texts, we discuss relevant questions to this issue, like: identity, memory, post-memory, loss, mourning, trauma and silence.

humanidade / This study aims to comparatively analyze the works of two important Portuguese poets:
Luís de Camões and Jorge de Sena. As main theme we rely mainly on the possibilities
opened up by Mannerism to the artwork (with a focus on poetry) with regard to rape,
defilement, reframing itself within and beyond its history. This Mannerist reading of
Camoniana and Seniana‘s work took place in an allegorical way, not historical in order
to enable us, in principle, to investigate the actual place of the poet Camões and Sena
mark in his writings and in retrospect, seek to present a relationship between the
concepts of "transformar apetite em razão", the author of Os Lusíadas, and
"Testemunho", the author of Metamorfoses. For both authors, the poet is a being in exile
on the sidelines, distressed by the fragmented world in which he lives, by no-reasons
that undergoes daily and you see the word the possibility of subverting the order of
profane it. Thus, the poetry of Camões and Sena Jorge constitutes stage for the
manifestations of inner experiences that have eroticism, war, exile, making, from the
individual, the poetic word touch the universals of human existence . The two poets are
paradoxical: writers of his time and ahead of him, when speaking of themselves, reach
more universal humanity

O primeiro, é a biblioteca.
espaço-temporal contidas na pintura e na literatura / The aim of this thesis is to reflect on the relationship between space and time in the works
of the painter Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, and the writer Agustina Bessa-Luis. The
dialog between the painter and writer, which first argument is to discuss how both of them
highlight the need of an investigation of the mentioned relationship, confirms itself trough
themes which were developed along both artists production. The first one is the library.
In spite of not being clearly described in Agustina's narratives, the way Vieira da Silva
understands and creates library-themed paintings dialogs with a peculiar view, built by
Bessa-Luis' writing, especially through the idea that books contain other books. The
game, second elected theme, has been persistently included in Vieira da Silva's work and
also in Agustinian novels. At last, the third theme refers to the house and the art studio.
Therefore, the library, the game and the house/ art studio are not only relating themes
between the painter and the writer, but also ways of understanding and of
interpreting possibilities for the space-time relationship that painting and literature
contain

The statement was made when referring to the romance The Cave, belonging to what he called the Stone phase of his production. At the same Conference, the author ensures to have raised some clues in his novels that lead to a reflection on a new social moment transfigured in it. In the wake of such statement, we have chosen, therefore, the referred phase in our thesis both for placing the context of his speech and as for being where the author declares to shed to the core of his reflections or, as he prefers to metaphorically say, the matter (stone) the Statue is made of. Accordingly, we want to understand how the social organization that is fictionalized in the novels by José Saramago points out evidence of the emergence of a new corporate model in such narrative universe. Specifically, we will examine the presence of this changing society built on the plots under the bias from three facets, namely: the State, the Economy and the Individual. Among the novels of the Stone phase we have established a window that includes Blindness (1995), Seeing (2004) and Death with Interruptions (2005), to perceive State relations; The Cave (2000) and The Halberds (2014), to reason the unpredictability of the economic sector, and, finally, All the Names (1997) and The Double (2002), to enquire about the individual. In order to identify the leads of possible changes in these social facets, by the advance of modernity, we will use as a theoretical contribution that cuts across our discussion the concept of Max Weber's disenchantment of the world, observing how it can create intelligibility and assist in understanding what, in Saramago's text, is desired as a social reading of a world under transformation

[en] FERNANDO PESSOA: AN ABSTRACT SENSITIVE ISSUING FOCUS / [pt] FERNANDO PESSOA: UM FOCO EMISSOR ABSTRATO SENSÍVELROSALBA LOPES GAMA 15 September 2004 (has links)
consciência e percepção do poeta oferendo várias
antíteses fundamentais do conhecimento - subjetivo e o
[en] This work is a reflection on the poetic theory of the
Sensationism of Fernando Pessoa. Its initial presupposition
is the author s statement: There is nothing, no reality,
but sensation. The textual analysis has shown a decisive
procedure, making possible to stress in which way the
heteronomity contributed to enlarge the conscience and the
poet s perception, offering several possibilities to
experience the reality or its sensation as a form of saving
the limitations that the individuality imposes. Art in
Pessoa represents his untiring search, and scanning
all the possible ways, jointed in the fundamental
antithesis of knowledge - subjective and objective,
spiritual and material, inside and outside, takes on in his
poetic speech with and investigative character, the
aloofness of conciliating solutions, turning Pessoa himself
into the thinking poeting.

poemas. / [en] In 1983, Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen published
Navegações, a book containing twenty-five poems written
between from 1977 and 1982 about the Portuguese maritime
discoveries. Considering this book as a development of a
theme Andresen had long been nurturing in her preview
works, in our reading of these poetic texts we focus on
four essential issues: the choice of such a controversial
subject shortly after the 1974 revolution in Portugal; the
intertextuality of these poems and the historical
references in them; the significance of the sixteenth-
century maps reproduced in the first edition; the concept
of gaze as it appears in these poems.
