Previous issue date: 2009-05-08 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This research is related to temporality and singularity of the studied object which is based
on historical data unveiled by means of remains and evidence, constituting the sources of
a history from José Simeão Leal´s private personal archive considered in its whole dimension.
Among the several primary sources which make up the archive, there are two thousand
and seven letters exchanged between José Simeão Leal and his correspondents, especially
the men of letters from his time (1929 to 1996); the handwritten dedication, contained in
his office s books; the Cultural Notebooks, examples of his editorial production. The research
emphasizes the editorial production, correspondence among men of letters, friends and
members of the household as well as the plastic production, followed by criticism made in
the journalistic press, and other documents which describe his production s art. Thus, José
Simeão Leal´s route is built as well as his history and contribution to Brazilian culture
having as theoretical-methodological framework the self-practices , legitimation,
documentation, permanence, accessibility and immediate irruptions fundamentals
crystallized in a reading and writing gesture. The self-writing is meant to be revealed,
establishing a net of meanings, discoveries and construction of his autobiography based
on his private personal archive. The examination of this whole archive enables to assure
that José Simeão Leal developed a conclusive work for the Brazilian history and culture
and for doing so, he molded his intellectual self-image, which is rewritten in this study as
a biographic essay.

Previous issue date: 2012-09-14 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior / This thesis proposes a new thinking on the English teacher and their continuing
education, leaving the picture emerging of a new professional, who is producing and
being produced. From this perspective, I present an analysis of self writing of thirteen
student-teachers, teachers on how they position themselves to be discursively
constituted as subjects in the context of continuing education. As part of Applied
Linguistics, the theory and method that supports the analysis of data are articulate
key elements of Foucault notions, namely:The care of the self, seeking their
connection with one another and care of and the self writing. In the theoretical
notions of these elements are implied notions of others, such as speech, ethics,
technology of the self, subject and truth. (Foucault, 1984, 1995, 2004c, 2006), and
questioning the ethics of the subject. I propose to examine selected excerpts from
the self writings of student teachers with a specialization in Teaching and Learning
the English Language, seeking linguistic processes in the material production of
subjectivities. In order to analyze the process of subjectivation, I examine the
discursive statements of selected cuts, aiming to learn more specifically, the points of
identification and fragments of the uniqueness of the teachers, showing how they
care for themselves and reflect upon them in building their subjectivity from the
technologies of the self, to occupy the position of English Language teachers. The
results show that, in the exercise of self writing, the subject falls, and a practice of

Lingu?stica Aplicada, a trama do tecido te?rico-metodol?gico que sustenta a an?lise
saber: discurso, ?tica, tecnologia do eu, e sujeito e verdade (FOUCAULT, 1984,

Mireille Havet, born in 1898, meets early success through her poems. Being close to Apollinaire and Cocteau, she makes a name for herself in the literary sphere of the time. Simultaneously with her poems and her novel published in 1923, she writes a diary, started when she was still a teenager. Driven by this success, the young woman is gradually caught up by her two great passions: women and drugs. It results in a turbulence against which she will struggle to attempt to produce the great work she dreamed of. Over the years, she finally resigned and will focus on her diary. It became the only reconcilable medium with her lifestyle, her melancholy and extremely increasing drug addiction. She then tries to transcribe her soul into her diary, "to say and reveal [her] world" inside. This project, even if it is not the ideal fantasized work, yet contains all the poetry of Mireille Havet, and forms, after rereading, a "complete whole" almost unknown to the author herself. Can this journal then replace the failed masterpiece the diarist always dreamed of?

Previous issue date: 2017-02-20 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The autobiographical and self-written studies constitute a branch of the field of language studies, literature and the arts that has been increasing in recent decades. This genre of writing allows authors to reflect on the experience of writing, to trigger individual and collective memories, and at the same time to reflect on the work itself and literature. Latin American literature has been a fertile field for research with this focus, such as the work of Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The production of this genre presents us with a literary context that encompasses both critical writing and creative writing, in the texts the authors merge different styles of writing, allowing a hybrid text to appear. Reflecting on autobiographical and self-writing, the present research explores these genres where the fictional and historical merge to the example of autobiography, memory, reports, reports, interviews that reveal the subject writer. We take here the work of G. G. Márquez with the focus on the analysis of his autobiography Viver Para Contar (2002). As a complement to our analysis, in the scope of fictional writing we have the works A incrível e triste história da Cândida Erêndira e sua avó desalmada (1972), Relato de um Náufrago (1970) and Crônica de uma Morte Anunciada (1981) that contemplate aspects of Autobiography, collective memory and explore the data from the Colombian context and history. The study of these texts allows us to verify how G. G. Márquez re-elaborates the historicity of his time in the fictional works. From the readings and analyzes, we carried out a reflection on the potential of the autobiographical or self-written, together with the fictional texts, to understand the Latin American historical context and the role of intellectuals who have lived the history of Latin American dictatorships and Who had to reinvent themselves and reelabor strategies of writing and the expression of thought. Our contribution with the present research is that in observing the writing process of G. G. Márquez, we verified that there is a fusion and why not to say juxtaposition between the categories author, character and narrator in the confluence between autobiography, memory and fiction, by what we call autowriting , Being precisely this way of narrating quite expressive in the work of G. G. Marquéz. The theme of this dissertation proposes to reflect on the imbricated relationship between history and literature in the author 's work, a fabric that reveals several layers of the real, imagined, official history and personal memory. It attempts to present the author not only as a constructor of the literary work, but as a constructor of a critical thinking articulating work, social life and contemporary cultural practices together with his hybrid writing that goes from the real to the imaginary, memorialistic, historical, critical , Among other genres that are approaching. In order to carry out this study we reflect on the theories of
autobiographical constructions, starting from the definitions of Philippe Lejeune (2008), deepening this theoretical basis, we advance to other approaches, like Paul Ricoeur (2007), Diana Klinger (2012), among others. These theoretical approaches illuminate the corpus selected for this research, as the self-writing in the process of reworking personal memory and the movement of history and its context captured.

L'essai chez Marguerite Yourcenar : métamorphoses d'une forme ouverte / Marguerite Yourcenar's Essays : Metamorphoses of an Open FormHébert, Julie 20 March 2010 (has links)
Through the variety of themes and forms offered by Marguerite Yourcenar's essays, the "portrait of a voice" progressively takes shape, inclining the reader to ponder, after the essayist herself, Jorge Luis Borges's warning : "A writer thinks he is tackling a lot of subjects; what he leaves behind, however - if he is lucky - is an image of himself". The essays, in which two contadictory conceptions of time and identity constantly clash, testify to the way the "self" resists its extinction, strongly recommended by the "I", which remains supreme beyond the metamorphoses. From the first essays, in which the young "Marg Yourcenar", in a tense and ornate style, appears to be both alarmed and enchanted by the decline of the West, to the last remarks jotted down in her notebooks, the recurring metaphor of the erosion conveys the extent to which the form is being refined, as well as the self-portrait that emerges from it. The process involves a conception of time that wavers between the flowing and the permanent, and brings forth the value given to the moment, first step towards the "sympathetic magic" which enables the reader to settle at any point of the human time. Thus expanded to the dimensions of the universal "constellation" born of random, or highly determined, encounters, the irrepressible "self" still embodies the resurgences of the individuality, accepted at last as a path towards the universal. After writing essays for fifty years, Marguerite Yourcenar conquered the liberty that defines the form and borders on the autobiographical, when she finally allowed its metamorphoses to closely match the fluidity of the individual life.

The question in this research-creation comes from a first reflection on the writing of mourning: Is it possible to tell a story, my story, but especially the story of the other and what are the effects on the memory? In the research section, we focus on the modalities of the writing of mourning in La place by Annie Ernaux and L’orphelin by Pierre Bergounioux. Initially, we focus on the poetics of these two authors before to go further and question the writing on memory in the two novels. In this part, we relied on the theories and concepts of Ricoeur, Todorov and Nora in the idea of exploring possible links with the processes at work in the narrative. Finally, we are also exploring the issue of the search for identity and heritage as presented in the narrative filiation, we will support our reflection on the writings of Dominique Viart. Memory and its preservation are the main concern before the creation. Suspendu(e) is a narrative whose form both the new and the novel. It is part of the concerns of the narrative filiation as presented by Dominique Viart. As such, it reflects on the trace and origin. It consists in two parts. The first, more narrative, tells my father's death event; the breaking point. The second part is more fragmented. It consists of fragments of life that are both memories and interpreted traces (videos, pictures).
Key words : mourning, testimony, memory, self-writing, father, Annie Ernaux, Pierre Bergounioux.

This study aims to examine the many implications of self-writing when it comes in a fragmented form. My intention was to consider the creation of links and relationships through distancing, discontinuity and digressions and I suggested those aspects are crucial to the narrative and giving an account of oneself. I therefore chose to focus on the study of two books, Roland Barthes par Roland Barthes (1975) and Maggie Nelson’s The Argonauts (2015), which offer a fragmented portrayal of the subject. These works are linked to each other by an image that Nelson borrows from Barthes, the Argo ship. A metaphor’s metaphor for George Kliebenstein, the image of the Argo allows a navigation between those narratives in which fragments overlap rather than following each other. This metaphor offers an out of time understanding of the texts heading to an undefined destination. Links are nonetheless established throughout the reading between the authors and themselves. This literary device constitutes the core of this study which I link to embodiment. Thus, self-writing can be seen as an act allowing the building of a relationship with oneself. The study is divided in three sections. Firstly, narratives are looked into in order to understand their biographical foundation while also exploring their discontinuous form. Secondly, the body and its representations are examined, enabling a first understanding of embodiment. Finally, the third section establishes the function of language and its margins.

This thesis analyses the fictional texts of Berlin author Klaus Schlesinger under the aspect of history-writing. Born in 1937 in East-Berlin, this important yet still under-estimated writer lived under five different regimes – national-socialist Germany, occupied Germany, the GDR (from 1949 to 1980), the FRG (from 1980 to 1989), unified Germany – and as many major changes that find reflection in his work: the revelation of the scope of Nazi crimes, the reorientations in the post-war era and under the socialist regime, the building of the Berlin Wall, political “dissidence” and exile in the West in the wake of the Biermann affair, then the fall of the Wall, the disappearance of the GDR and German unification. While the analysis falls into four chronological periods, thus allowing for an overview of his intellectual and political itinerary, the thesis primarily focuses on the way Schlesinger represented this half-century of German history, its impact on individuals and the questions that arose from it (the heritage of the past, the individual’s position in “real”-socialism, in capitalist societies or the Cold war, utopia, identity). It looks at the narrative and formal choices made in each text and underlines the historiographical, moral, political and personal-identity questions inextricably linked to them. Drawing from several theoretical sources (Ricœur, Foucault, de Certeau, Turner, Geertz), it underlines the specific nature of the often heterotopical or liminal spaces in which Schlesinger places his characters and interprets fictional writing as a privileged space of self-apprehension and self-construction in history. While focused on the fictional writings, the analyses also uses the author’s essays and autobiographical texts as well as the Klaus Schlesinger archives of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin (correspondence, first drafts, text fragments, Stasi surveillance files, reviews, interviews).
