[pt] DESTRAVANDO SOLUÇÕES CRIATIVAS PARA O PARADOXO LUCRO-PROPÓSITO: EXPLORANDO A INFLUÊNCIA DA LIDERANÇA HUMILDE NA CRIATIVIDADE VOLTADA PARA O BEM COMUM / [en] UNLOCKING CREATIVE SOLUTIONS TO THE PURPOSE AND PROFIT PARADOX: EXPLORING THE INFLUENCE OF LEADER HUMILITY ON CREATIVITY TOWARD THE COMMON GOOD

ANA CAROLINA MARTINI BRAZ DE MELLO E SOUZA 15 September 2023 (has links)
[en] Amidst the cutting-edge challenge of reframing organizational success, it is paramount to understand the role of leadership in influencing followers capability of solving the paradox of purpose and profit dual-goal, as well as in leveraging creativity toward the common good (De Cremer & Moore, 2020; Winkler et al., 2019). By adding the ethical and moral dimensions alongside the economic goal, organizations start to place purpose into organizational strategy, considering multiple stakeholders interests (He & Ortiz, 2021; Moroz & Gamble, 2021). Therefore, against this backdrop, the present research contends that in terms of the leader s singular behaviors that may help followers navigate the sustainability paradox, leader humility emerges as a relevant attribute to set the stage for creative problem-solving to flourish and thrive. The first paper makes a concerted effort to investigate the business intellectual structure of leader humility and creativity/innovation, integrating past research findings into a synthetic framework composed of three conceptual maps that extend prior academic work (Kelemen et al., 2022). The second paper comprehends two experimental studies that address cause-and-effect concerns on humble leadership and creativity through the paradox perspective. The first study confirmed that leader humility is responsible for followers creative problem-solving via a paradox mindset, and also for creative process engagement; yielding a marginally significant effect on positive emotions. The second study, in turn, confirmed that humble leadership is responsible for promoting positive emotions and perspective-taking on followers, eliciting fewer negative emotions when compared to the control condition.

St-Louis Lamoureux, Ariel 08 1900 (has links)
This research-creation master’s thesis proposes a theoretical and artistic study of collaborative approaches in documentary film. Contemporary issues of the representation of the Other push documentary artists to develop innovative methodologies where power relations between filmmaker—filming equipment—filmed are reconceptualized. The theoretical and creative components of this thesis consider these issues from the perspective of indigenous—non-indigenous dynamics in Mexico and Canada. The first chapter examines the colonial relationships of powers rooted in our contemporary societies and perpetuated in the documentary exercise. The collaborative approach is presented as an option borrowed by several artists, including Roberto Olivares Ruiz and Iphigénie Marcoux-Fortier. Chapter two is devoted to analyzing their work. The ethical and practical considerations studied served the development of the short film Segunda Piel; therefore, chapter three outlines the characteristics of the collaboration and the creative process that have been carried out. Finally, the thesis concludes by measuring the limits and successes of the collaborative documentary approach in regard to the creative process and inherent power relations.

Maziade, Marc 12 1900 (has links)
This work explains and elaborates the artistic approach of a composer that works primarily with traditional Quebec music and wishes to give momentum to his work by inspiring himself with the jazz and classical idiom. It is divided in three chapters in which pieces of the traditional repertoire and of the classical and jazz repertoires are analyzed in detail. The first chapter describes works of Joseph Allard, Louis « Pitou » Boudreault, Jos Bouchard, and Aimé Gagnon and aims at defining some stylistic elements specific to Quebec's traditional style. The second chapter addresses the pieces Stolen Moments by Oliver Nelson and Waltz for Debby by Bill Evans and explores a jazz in balance between conservatism and innovation. The third chapter deals with original approaches to modality through the analysis of two musical pieces rich in variations: Pagodes by Claude Debussy and Ostinato by Béla Bartók. The fourth chapter presents my own creative process.

Baysset, Arnaud 07 1900 (has links)
This research focuses on the existence of a gap between artistic creativity in contemporary art and visual arts education in elementary schools in Quebec. More precisely, after observing the importance of artistic intention in contemporary artists’ creation mechanisms, this research analyzes how art teachers incorporate it (artistic intention) in their teaching. Based on the research question: “Are Quebec primary school art teachers – by not taking into account the student artistic intention in the production of individual art work – maintaining the gap between artistic creativity in contemporary art and visual arts education?” this thesis consists of several sets of analysis. This research defines attributes that outline and distinguish artistic paradigms in order to comprehend their impact on arts education and art teachers’ different representations of artistic creation particularly in the contemporary art paradigm. This distinction allows a comparison between two representations of the dynamics of creation: one in the concept of creative process and another in the concept of artistic intention. The results of the semi-structured interviews of twelve primary school visual art teachers in Quebec confirm the existence of the gap between artistic creativity in contemporary art and visual arts education in elementary schools. Furthermore, this paper also shows a lack of thought in the Quebec Education Program (QEP), for the creation mechanisms present in the contemporary art paradigm.

"Suzanne" sous un nouveau jour : la fabrique d'une musique à l'ancienne et de ses singularités au prisme d'une musicologie de terrain / "Suzanne un jour" in a new light : the making of a period music and of its singularities through the lens of a field musicology

Haug, Benoît 04 December 2017 (has links)
What does it mean to play Renaissance music in the 21st century? Taking into account that the depth of an experience derives from its singularity, the present dissertation looks at this general question by focusing on a specific process: a specialized ensemble rehearsing and recording a 16th century song. A close reading of this process makes it clear that there is inherent value in observing musicians in the year 2014 engaged in repeat performances of “Suzanne un jour” by Didier Lupi. This observation clarifies how a musical performance is created and developed and reveals the modalities of the collective and individual experiences involved. Moreover, this detail-oriented and singularist epistemology is useful in other respects, whether to comprehend a five-week recording project or to write a five-century history of “Suzanne.”

Relations and interactions between the music created in the music industry dynamics and the culture of the image, as well as with the expansion of the registers and documents of process of music, from the eletronic record to the video, are established. Pop music refers to that of the Culture Industry, of media insertion, especially mass media, such as the radio, the cinema and the television, and their production is seen as a wide creative network. The documentary Let it Be, by the British group The Beatles, filmed in 1969 and released in 1970, was chosen as case study and, from the processes critique approach and based on the theories of the work of art creative networks, by Cecília Almeida Salles, it is understood as register and index of the collective process of creation of the band. The movie is considered, from this perspective, a precursor of the audiovisual format known today as the making of and, based on their critical analysis, different moments and points of tension are recognised during the creation and recording of an album, nods of the pop music network. We seek to understand how the interactions among their members, the creative subjects, as well as with external factors to that specific process, characterized the collective process of creation of the group at that stage of their career / A seguinte dissertação pretende investigar o processo de criação da música pop a partir do estudo do formato audiovisual como registro de processo de criação musical, em particular, o gênero cinematográfico documentário e o formato audiovisual making of.

[en] AN EXPANDED CINEMA: THE THEORETICALPRACTICAL EXPERIENCE OF THE NOVA IGUAÇU FREE CINEMA SCHOOL / [pt] UM CINEMA EXPANDIDO: A EXPERIÊNCIA TEÓRICO-PRÁTICA DA ESCOLA LIVRE DE CINEMA DE NOVA IGUAÇU

26 May 2021 (has links)
[en] This research investigates the cinematographic process of creation from the theoretical-practical experience of the Free Cinema School of Nova Iguaçu (ELC), located in the neighborhood of Austin, in the Baixada Fluminense region. It is a study carried out during 2014, based on an approach to the school methodology and observing the lessons of one of its classes - specifically the tools that culminated in the creation of the Montão de Coisa (Heap of Thing) videodance. The empirical research presented here is based on the records of the audiovisual workshops given by the school mediators, notes in field notebook, photographic records and videos made by the researcher, on the material publicized by ELC and also on two interviews with the producer, given during field research. Originating from the concepts of ELC methodology, the categories body, word and territory appear in this thesis as keys to the reading of the creation process in order to highlight the relations that permeate the cinematographic making in the school experience and that mobilize the creation of the aforementioned videodance. The undertaken analysis reveals how the encounter of these subjects with the cinema, crossed by creative and subjective processes, allows them to experience an experience of otherness, that is, of encounter with the other and with the world. In addition, the tensions that permeate this process potentiate the aesthetic encouragement, thus giving to this experience also an aesthetic character. While the word appears as a form of expression, emphasizing a symbolic field, and valuing the linguistic and gestural singularities of students and mediators, the body emerges with its tensions (the one that operates the camera and the one that is filmed by it) and the gesture extracted, brought and addressed by the students and mediators. At last, it is with and in the territory that these actions take place, making it a fundamental piece to understand how the actions of creation of the ELC happen. Thus, thinking of the expanded cinema as one that goes beyond the limits of conventional cinema (that one crystallized by industrial and entertainment cinema) and that is projected on other screens, in other spaces, it is concluded that this is the cinema experienced in Austin. Seen by the bias of an expansion, amid the actions that are outcome of the dispositif and tensions that permeate the process of creation, it [the cinema] is constituted amongst the inventiveness of the daily life of that space and the creativity of the involved subjects.

Desmarais, Louis-Olivier 04 1900 (has links)
This essay is an intimate and introspective creation diary. It is about the doubts and difficulties that can punctuate the artistic life. And this life is a complex whole, inhabited by contradictory preoccupations and phenomena: shadow/light, intimacy/public life, solitude/exposure, emission/reception, inside/outside. The vein, behind all these questions, is this search for unity in artistic life as well as the pacification of the creative process. The first chapter of this essay is about this tension between the interior and exterior aspects linked to the life of creation. The second chapter describes the musical tools used in the compositions made during this master's degree and which echo the reflections expressed in the first chapter. It discusses, among other things, narrativity in music, playing with music notes, pulsation, film writing. Finally, the third chapter focuses on the creative process, the subject, as well as the assessment around the three works presented as part of this essay: Abîmes, Rainbow Odyssey: La Rédemption and Flots. Through the overview of all these concerns are sketched the contours of major issues that have all influenced in their own way the music composed during this master's degree.

Ménard-Bélanger, Danaë 03 1900 (has links)
This memoir presents an analysis of the role of nothingness, sparseness, and negativity (négatif, in French) in five musical works composed as part of the author’s master’s degree: Obèle, Petite berceuse, Wet Ice and Dead Leaves, Déjà-vu, and Rêve éveillé. Their creative process is analyzed alongside other works from the author’s master’s degree, namely the music for the play Scribouillis and the short film of the same name. The perspectives of musical analysis are music theory and embodied cognition, and the process is conceptualized as a whole, whose elements are interrelated, as proposed by Donin and Theureux, under the term atelier. The aesthetic is contextualised in relation to minimalist currents, and is discussed in relation to artistic goals, including the inspiration from negative affect emotions and the encouragement of active listening, meta-listening, or deep listening. The text aims to provide an in-depth appreciation of the works and approach, as well as a vocabulary for discussing the concepts central to this type of aesthetic and artistic approach. The research-creation carried out during the master’s degree aimed to develop a unique and authentic compositional approach that meets perceptual criteria of coherence and evocation of emotionally charged discourse, demonstrates mastery of writing techniques, and displays a strong, innovative, and audacious artistic vision. The first chapter presents the key concepts of analysis and details the inspiration behind the works. The motivations for the creative process emerge through the discussion of concepts such as the negative, the nothing, the little, and the silence as well as their place in the cultural context in which the author evolves. The compositional approach is anchored in timbre, form, and perception. Chapter 2 illustrates aspects of the creative process through two collaborations with contemporary marionette theatre. Presentations of the works are grouped by similarity in chapters 3 and 4, which are dedicated to vocal and instrumental works, respectively. Each is divided into sub-sections for the different works. Chapter 6 concludes the dissertation by proposing links between key elements.

Atos tridimensionais: manifestações da existência: interfaces entre a arquitetura e a escultura / Three-Dimensional Acts: Manifestations of Existence - Interfaces between Architecture and Sculpture

Daniel Corsi da Silva 31 May 2012 (has links)
This dissertation aims to analyze possible interfaces between Architecture and Sculpture, approaching their productions made from the second half of the twentieth century, a period that was characterized by disruption of numerous theoretical and conceptual paradigms. Considering these manifestations from their three-dimensional nature, according to a transdisciplinary approach, it seeks to establish new meanings and analysis parameters shared by both expressions, in a reciprocal process of conceptual and practical influences. The research is divided into two parts. The first part - Three-Dimensional Concepts - refers to the historical facts and philosophical concepts that have influenced the theoretical concepts of architectural and sculptural production of this period. In this part are also studied some transformations of the specific universes of these manifestations, which are considered crucial to the creation of the works later analyzed. In the second part - Three-Dimensional Processes - it is presented a reading of some architectural and sculptural works based on new productive organizations established in the studied period. From the transdisciplinary repertoire presented in the first part about the creative concepts of both manifestations analysis, parameters are defined to embrace fundamental themes of the mentioned interfaces. The concepts of Landscape, Time, Structure, Matter and Form are extended in definitions that lead to the reading of each of the selected works. Thus, new cognitive concepts of these constructions are established demonstrating how they influence each other, sharing their intentions or not. The potential arising from the proximity of these two expressions is also shown, offering theoretical and practical references so that they can be explored in future productions. Summarizing the specific procedures of these three-dimensional acts and the philosophical reading concepts, it is aimed to show, from the profundity of the chosen works, single acts of human existence.
