Bischofswappen - Stetigkeit und Wandel Die Entwicklung des kirchlichen Wappenwesens vom Ende der Reichskirche bis heute, dargestellt am Beispiel der Bischöfe der fünf ursprünglichen Diözesen der Oberrheinischen Kirchenprovinz / Bishop´s Coats of Arms - Constancy and Change The development of ecclesiastical heraldry from the end of the church in the holy roman empire till today, demonstrated by example of the bishops of the five original bishoprics of the upperrhenanian province

Wehner, Dietrich 27 December 2006 (has links)

Lumila, Minna 02 June 2023 (has links)
The study attempts to open Husserl's model of a non-scientific lifeworld for pedagogical investigations of the relationship between technology and “Bildung” in the scientific world. It discusses developmental problems of late modernity under plural questions and brings together approaches and traditions that have taken different paths to the further development of modern “Bildungs”-theory. The central question is how modern technology can be problematized on the one hand as the alienation of human beings from the world of life and on the other hand be appreciated as a product of human freedom and the shaping of the world. Four chapters present the methodological approaches and answers that philosopher and educator Eugen Fink (1905–1975), philosopher Martin Heidegger (1889–1976), philosopher and educationalist Theodor Litt (1880–1962), and sociologist Helmut Schelsky (1912–1984) have given to the question of the relationship between education and technology. In the course of their positions, a concert will be developed whose originality lies in addressing the coordination problems of “Bildung” (education), “Technik” (technology) and “Lebenswelt” (lifeworld) from a post-dualist, praxis-theoretical as well as post-humanist perspective.

The ‘Weimar Experience’ in British Interwar Writing

Wünnenberg, Barbara 01 July 2022 (has links)
The dissertation analyses the texts of British writers who visited Germany during the years of the Weimar Republic and wrote about their experiences with Germany and the Germans. It includes texts that were written during the years 1919-1933 as well as texts that deal retrospectively with experiences in the Weimar Republic and were written in the years between the end of the Weimar Republic and the outbreak of the Second World War (1933-1939). Scholarly engagement with the writings of British writers on the Weimar Republic has so far been very much limited to the texts of Christopher Isherwood and his friends W. H. Auden and Stephen Spender. By focusing predominantly on the experiences of these authors, the existing research on British writers in the Weimar Republic places a strong emphasis on the experiences of young homosexual men in Berlin in the final years of the Weimar Republic and neglects other aspects of these writers' experiences as well as the perspectives of the numerous other British writers who visited the Weimar Republic and had very different experiences due to their background, age and motivations for their stay. For the first time, this study undertakes a wide-ranging investigation of diverse perspectives, which both analyses the biographical experiences of the writers and explains the fictionalisation process of these experiences in different phases of the interwar and post-war period. The in-depth analysis of the diverse literary versions of the 'Weimar experience' by British writers shows how this experience was transformed into fiction, how personal engagement with Germany complicates retrospective narratives, and how these complications are played out in fictional texts. The work is divided into three chronological chapters, each dealing with a phase of the Weimar Republic and drawing on a range of fictional and non-fictional texts.

Příbuzenské vztahy a morfologické znaky lidské kostry u genealogicky dokumentovaných souborů: využití v bioarcheologii a forenzní antropologii. / Kinship relationships and morphological features of the human skeleton in genealogically documented osteological assemblages: use in bioarchaeology and forensic anthropology.

Cvrček, Jan January 2022 (has links)
The influence of biological relationships on the morphology of the human skeleton is a current theme in bioarchaeology and forensic research. Whether it is the discovery of kinship relationships in an anonymous cemetery or the question of individual identification based on familial similarity, research is limited by a number of factors. Above all, there is the shortage of osteological assemblages with genealogical documentation. Most such samples also include only a small number of individuals, and thus the number of different degrees of their relatedness is limited. Related to this is the lack or absence of methods suitable for either the exact expression of the degree of morphological similarity between individuals or the statistical evaluation of results. However, for this dissertation an opportunity arose to analyze several osteological assemblages with genealogical documentation from the 17th to 20th centuries, comprising almost one hundred individuals. This represents one of the largest such units in the world to date. The individual samples also include several cases of consanguineous marriages with subsequent generations. The aim of the first part of the dissertation is to propose new methodological approaches to expressing the degree of similarity of individuals based on different types of...

[pt] DIREITOS HUMANOS NA ENCRUZILHADA: CRÍTICA E POTENCIAL DOS DIREITOS HUMANOS / [en] HUMAN RIGHTS AT THE CROSSROADS: POTENTIAL AND CRITIQUE OF HUMAN RIGHTS / [fr] LES DROITS DE L HOMME À LA CROISÉE DES CHEMINS: CRITIQUE ET POTENTIEL DES DROITS DE L HOMME

DANIEL CARNEIRO LEAO ROMAGUERA 17 May 2022 (has links)
[en] This thesis consists of a study about problems concerned to Human Rights from political philosophy and critique of law. At first, with a critique of the tradition of Human Rights and a brief genealogy of how thought and history of Human Rights took place, both in terms of foundational speeches and social statements. After that, due to open fractures with the philosophy of Jacques Derrida and Michel Foucault, the idea is to distinguish how Human Rights function when related to sovereignty and biopolitics. It is important to highlight the historical and political nature of law, and to question its potential of social transformation, once Human Rights are at the crossroads: If Human Rights are an effort of the history of mobilizations contrary to social injustices and conservative legal models, they also become our era of rights as foundations and part of legitimate law. Even, at times, they turn against their own ends. In this context, the concept of Human Rights is linked to western civilization, global capitalism, international order and state violence, at the same time that Human Rights are made with political struggles, social conquests, institutional protection and defense against rights violation. In this context, is important to investigate how to think about Human Rights once considered the difference of forces of their formation and continuous openness to changes. This work turns to the potential of Human Rights at the crossroads, which is crucial to the crossroads itself, according to its social production and ability to define the political and humanity. Which results from the intersection of sovereign power and biopolitics, as the premises of law are displaced and the Human Rights reaches new domains of life and society. This implies reformulating questions about normativity, enforcement and achievement of Human Rights. At the end, it is consequential to highlight tensions of these rights in the midst of social relations and compositions of power in the current political scenario.

Higon Cardete, Beatriz 04 November 2022 (has links)
[EN] From the end of the 20th century and in these two decades of the 21st century, a series of practices and proposals by artists, groups, theoreticians, and activists who share a feminist and queer/cuir/kuir position have proliferated in the Spanish State. Transfeminism brings together genealogies (feminists, LGTBIQ+, anti-racist, and de(s)colonial) that critically and complexly rethink their environment and history from dissidence. His epistemological proposal, his identity struggles, his vindication of rights, and his extensive cultural and political production have activated changes in the contemporary context in an unprecedented way. Our contribution to the transfeminist networks through 20 years of work from the O.R.G.I.A collective, allows us to elaborate an alternative historiographical account that accounts for the relationship between the political, the affective and the visual, and its link with the context, making use of self-history-theory to elaborate a critical aesthetic-political memory of his actions, his visual and cultural practices, and his texts. From situated knowledge and an embodied perspective, it delves into the "Frankenstein trousseau" of references, backgrounds, memories and imaginaries, which feed a good part of transfeminist artistic practices and connect them with their diverse genealogies. It reflects on other autonomous ways of accessing knowledge and producing it from self-management (DIY, DIWO, DIT). The relationship with the theories and texts coming from different contexts in round-trip translation processes is also analyzed, to see the singularity of the discourses generated in this particular context in relation to others such as the Anglo-Saxon, the French or the Latin American. Likewise, those references that arise from and about the transfeminist practices themselves are examined, and that take the pulse of their evolution and impact in the field of contemporary culture, especially since the arrival of queer theory. The changes that have taken place in the field of art and in some of its institutions have allowed a series of meetings in the form of conferences and seminars, in which political-affective relations have been consolidated. Its relevance, and the debates generated in each of them, have been related to the various visual and/or performative practices developed by transfeminist groups and artists, organizing a casuistry around the main topics of discussion. / Higon Cardete, B. Psophos, Sonus, and Klang: Towards a Genealogy of Sound Terminology

Christensen, Thomas 12 October 2023 (has links)
As we think about sound and its many competing meanings and uses for musicians over the past hundred years, it is worth keeping in mind that defining sound was also a contentious problem in earlier times. Indeed, since the ancient Greeks first invoked the term psophos as a general concept for sound, there has been a persistent question of how to draw boundaries between musical sounds (covered by such sub-terms as phthongos and phoné) and more general notions of noise (klázō). The Latin term sonus was perhaps even more confusing in this regard, with a numbing variety of meanings and applications that cannot be easily reconciled. Still, one persistent demarcation that we can find in the history of the term’s usage is that between sound as an acoustical (»external«) object, and sound as a perceptible (»internal«) phenomenon. Each of these usages implies a distinctly differing aesthetic stance towards sound that has telling resonance for compositional and analytical issues that are still very much alive today. Indeed, an acoustical turn in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries prompted music theorists to confront the perception of musical sounds more thoroughly than before as exemplified by Johann Mattheson’s little known treatise Versuch einer systematischen Klang-Lehre (1748).

Genealogie als intertextuelles Spiel: Zur Charakterisierung Admets im Katalog der Argonauten bei Apollonios Rhodios (1,49f.)

Schollmeyer, Jonas 07 February 2023 (has links)
In Book 1 of the Argonautica, Apollonios Rhodios counts out the names of 55 heroes who set off to win the Golden Fleece. All the heroes are given genealogical details that often contribute to their characterisation. Only Admetus’ γενεή is passed over in silence by the catalogue. This was noted already by H. Fränkel, who suspected a lacuna in the text. However, there is another solution to the problem. The distinctive relationship of Admetus to his parents is detailed nowhere more clearly and drastically than in Euripides’ Alcestis. In what is perhaps the most bitter agon in Greek tragedy, the father and son quarrel so severely that Admetus throws his parents out of the house and from then on wishes not to be regarded as their son. Apollonios assumes a knowledge of this famous quarrel among his readers or hearers, and he shows the sad consequences of this unreconciled generational conflict by breaking the convention of filiation and silently calling to mind the unresolved problems of the Alcestis.

Problematising war: Towards a reconstructive critique of war as a problem of deviance

Andrä, Christine 02 February 2024 (has links)
This article redirects extant critiques of the modern problem of war at this problem’s underlying logic of deviance. According to this logic, war constitutes a kind of international conduct that contravenes behavioural norms and that can be corrected through diagnostic and didactic means. Thereby, war is rendered into a problem falling within the scope of human agency. However, this agency rests on and reproduces this logic’s constitutive blind spots. Therefore, it seems imperative to develop ways of problematising war otherwise. The article provides two starting points for (critical) IR scholarship seeking to undertake such a project. Firstly, it combines two Foucaultian tools, the concept of problematisation and the method of genealogy, to direct critique at the logics underlying our evaluative – analytical, ethical, and political –judgements. Secondly, it uses these tools to trace the contingent emergence of the logic of deviance in a crucial example within the wider genealogy of the problem of war: the Carnegie Endowment’s commission of inquiry into the Balkan Wars of 1912 and 1913. Based on original archival research, I highlight different elements of this inquiry’s problematisation of war – its frames, assumptions, ways of knowing, and subjects of knowledge – to make them available for reconstruction.
