"Feelin' Good As Hell" : En fallstudie av diskurserna runt artisten Lizzo / ”Feelin’ Good as Hell” : A Case Study of the Discourses Surrounding the Artist Lizzo

Pattberg Miller, Ottilia January 2020 (has links)

Centra of Quiver Algebras

Gawell, Elin January 2014 (has links)
A partly (anti-)commutative quiver algebra is a quiver algebra bound by an (anti-)commutativity ideal, that is, a quadratic ideal generated by monomials and (anti-)commutativity relations. We give a combinatorial description of the ideals and the associated generator graphs, from which one can quickly determine if the ideal is admissible or not. We describe the center of a partly (anti-)commutative quiveralgebra and state necessary and sufficient conditions for the center to be finitely genteratedas a K-algebra.Examples are provided of partly (anti-)commutative quiver algebras that are Koszul algebras. Necessary and sufficient conditions for finite generation of the Hochschild cohomology ring modulo nilpotent elements for a partly (anti-)commutative Koszul quiver algebra are given.

Salomonsson, Penny January 2020 (has links)
Title: The temporality of love – A study about the definition of love over time in love novels Subject: Sociology Authors: Penny Salomonsson The purpose of this study is to form an understanding regarding what love is in love novels from different periods, from the beginning of 1800s to the present, 2020. Previous studies have shown that the definition of love has gone from being about the couple to being about the individual. What love is has therefore become uncertain, which has led to discussion. The study of this topic is therefore of great relevance because it can show what love has been and what it is or at least what we want it to be, and that can say something about our society. This study is based on a qualitative research method. The method is conceptual history – the study of concepts which is an approach in text analysis. Ten love novels were included in the study, some of them are classic love novels because it probably gave a more credible picture of what love was during the chosen time periods. The theoretical perspective that the collected data is analysed through is Anthony Giddens theories about passionate love, romantic love and the pure relationship. Eva Illouz analytical tool “the great transformation of love” are also used. The result of this study shows that all periods during the chosen time period defines love based on romantic love in some sense. Romantic love therefore does not dominate the definition of love of all the different time periods, however, it does exist. Moreover, the study result also shows that characteristics is important for the definition of love and that reflection and development also has important place in the definition of love.

"The woman who was voted the most beautiful woman in the world" : A textual and visual analysis of how the normative image of the woman is created in Swedish magazines.

Högstedt, Moa, Gyllenhammar, Elise January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this study is to explore and discuss how media is describing the woman in Swedish magazines. We also explore how a normative image of the woman is created. We offer one possible explanation for how ideals of women can generate and mediate different ideas of femininity and therefore lead to inequality. The study is based on an analysis of articles published between 2018-2022 in Swedish women's magazines amelia, Femina, mama and tara. Using a qualitative research design by exploring both the text and pictures in the magazines we analyze how the ideal of the woman and norms of femininity can be embedded both in words and photos. The main categories that were identified are: motherhood, health-ideal, beauty-ideal and the general ideal of the woman. To analyze our material, theories and theoretical frameworks such as Agenda Setting Theory, Framing Theory, Respectability and Intersectionality have been used to analyze our data. The main conclusion of our analysis is that media plays an influential role in the construction of the ideal women. The woman is most often described as white, slim, well-dressed and successful. This stereotypic description of the woman is not consistent with the more diverse representation of the woman in society today. This therefore generates an inability due to, for example class and ethnicity, to live up to the ideals that media has constructed.

Den objektiva eller personliga läraren? : En kvalitativ studie om lärares objektiva roll och identitet i samhällskunskapsundervisning / The objective or personal teacher? : A qualitative study of teachers' objective role and identity in social studies teaching

Sandberg, Sandra January 2021 (has links)
This is a qualitative study that aims to investigate objectivity as an ideal and the expectations laid on teachers to behave and teach objectively. Through interviews with social science teachers the study uncovers experiences regarding expectations of objectivity. It also analyzes what approaches and strategies the teachers use in the classroom when considering objectivity, either as an ideal and/or what is to be expected of them. In addition the study also aims to explore the practical effects of teachers' pedagogical choices within the classroom and within the framework of social science teaching. The study has shown a complexity to the teachers role and the teachers understanding and interpretations of objectivity. It has deepened our understanding of teachers' daily challenges and how they try to live up to perceived expectations, both from within and from the surrounding society. The results have shown multiple challenges relating to objectivity and the practice of teaching social sciences as a subject. Teachers show partially different approaches and strategies. But at the same time there is a core element to their understanding of teachers' professional role, usually based on school values tied to the curriculum.

Bolin, Julia, Kraft, Maria January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of the essay is to investigate how the media portrays victims of deadly violence and the perpetrators who committed these acts. A particular emphasis on fatal partner and family violence is taken into account for a narrower but more precise focus. The study is characterized by a qualitative investigation with a thematic analysis as a method. The thematization of the analysis is also gradually worked through due to the application of the theory of the ideal victim to the study. The main recurring themes found are descriptions of victims and perpetrators' gender and abuses in connection with the deadly violence they endured or inflicted. In this study it becomes clear that there are clear differences between victims and perpetrators depending on if they are male or female. Women are often described as victims even if they are the perpetrator in question, the males are described as perpetrators even if they themselves are victims. /
2023-04-13

Sexobjekt, förebild eller båda? : En komparativ semiotisk analys av den kvinnliga huvudkaraktären i två Spider-man filmer / Sex object, role model or both? : A comparative semiotic analysis of the main female character in two Spider-man movies

Jönsson, Elin January 2022 (has links)
This paper has examined how the female main characters in two Spider-Man films are portrayed and whether there are any differences from a gender stereotypical perspective. The question examined is: How does the portrayal of the female main character in Spider-man differ from Spider-man: Far from home, from a gender stereotypical perspective? To examine this, a comparative semiotic analysis has been done on four scenes from each film where different signs have been analyzed based on connotation and denotation. The material consists of the films Spider-man from 2002 with Mary Jane Watson as the female main character, and Spider-man: Far From Home from 2019 with Michelle Jones as the female main character. The theory used is research on stereotypes, representation, gender, and the male gaze. The analysis and the results show that there are differences in the way Mary Jane and Michelle Jones are presented from a gender stereotypical perspective. These differences can be seen both in the visual elements such as the clothes, the compositions and the camera's placement, but also in the characters’ actions and the narrative. Mary Jane's role is mainly as a love interest where her appearance has the main focus while the character of Michelle is portrayed as more independent and her own person that has a larger part in the narrative of the film.

THE CONSTRUCTION OF A CAREER WOMAN : In What Way Did Gina Tricot Construct a “Career Woman” in Their Advertising Campaign “Power Suits Starring Bianca”?

Wulff, Isabella, Malmström, Alice January 2022 (has links)
Individuals refer to and observe advertising images in their everyday lives (Fagerström and Nilson 2008). The aim of the thesis is to investigate how Gina Tricot has constructed a career woman in their advertising campaign Power suits starring Bianca. We examine the advertising campaign from two main theories: the representation theory by Stuart Hall (2013) and from two main gender theories by Melin (2015) and Gill (2009). By applying a semiotic text analysis to the thesis, we aim to find the elements that Gina Tricot's advertising campaign is built upon. We found that Gina Tricot constructs a career woman in an unhealthy and harmful way by promoting eating disorders and by objectifying and sexualizing the female model in the campaign Power suits starring Bianca. This also concludes that the criticism aimed against the company wasn’t enough. Not only did the company promote this unhealthy eating disordered ideal, they also contributed to maintaining the patriarchy and objectifying women in their commercial campaign.
