Historiekultur i dramadokumentären Stockholms blodbad : Kampen om tronen

Eriksson, Anna January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to study the 2021 documentary series Stockholm’s blodbad – Kampen om tronen from a historical cultural perspective using narrative analysis and film theory. The foundation for the analysis is to be found in Jörn Rüsen’s definition of history culture, where historical narratives are seen as part of a collective identity, and where different dimensions of history culture are balanced to create an impression of truth. The aim is to explore how the documentary series is part of and dependent on the historical cultural context in which it was created, and also to problematize this situation.

Att tillgängliggöra kulturarvet – Brister och hierarkier i kulturmiljöarbetet / Making cultural heritage accessible – Deficiencies and hierarchies in cultural heritage conservation

Cargelius, Lovisa January 2020 (has links)
Contradistinction in the Swedish legislation evoces conflicts of interest between the preservation and modernisation of the cultural heritage. Sweden has, despite this complex question, succeeded in many ways to make its historically building accessible for disabled people, where the changes being made are respectful towards both the building and the user. However, regardless of the jurisdictional regulations, there are still important public buildings which cannot, in a dignified way, be visited by a person in a wheelchair. How come? The purpose of this essay has been to review the process of making historically valuable buildings accessible for disabled people. The objective has been to identify deficiencies of the process, that is, understand why certain buildings are unable to be made accessible. Furthermore, the study aims to elucidate hierarchies between the preservation of cultural values and the adaptation of modern needs. The study is composed of a literature study and a case study consisting of three scrutinized buildings: Stockholm City Hall, Thielska galleriet and Riksdagshuset (the parliament building). All of the three buildings have not been made accessible in a dignified way. The introductory theory and literature study is meant to gain an understanding of the Swedish care taking of the cultural heritage, and juxtaposing it to the policy of accessibility in public buildings. The result shows that the deficiencies in the process of making cultural-historical environments acces-sible vary from case to case, but the overall problem is about management and complicated workflow. Conservative interests and the fear of modernization also obstructs the process of making the cultural heritage accessible. Issues such as the impact of reversibility on cultural heritage have arisen during the course of writing this essay. The study shows that the collaboration between authorities surveying the cultural heritage is complex and contributes to difficulties in the decision-making. Efforts should furthermore be made to undertake the conflict between conservation and modernization.

Tillgängligheten i Stockholms stad : en kvalitativ studie utifrån rullstolsanvändares perspektiv / Accessibility in the City of Stockholm : a qualitive study from the perspective of wheelchair users

Lundgren, Elise January 2022 (has links)
This study aims to investigate what accessibility looks like in the city of Stockholm from wheelchair users and from a human rights perspective. The study also aims to shed light on how the Traffic Office in Stockholm works with accessibility. I have chosen to do a qualitive study where the empirical data was obtained from three different source materials. Partly via individual semi-structured interviews with the Traffic Office and with three wheelchair users who live in the city of Stockholm. Partly via two participant observations with a wheelchair user. Finally, from the swedish handbook Stockholm - en stad för alla (2008), written by the Traffic Office, which is based on laws and guidelines of how to make an environment useful for people with disabilities. The study shows that there are environmental barriers for people with disabilities in Stockholm. These can be lack of architectural structures (e.g. ramps, elevators), obstacles in the environment as well as inaccessible buildings. The study also shows that the functioning body as a norm is constantly present and much in our society is adapted accordingly. Based on Crip-theory, the study focuses on wheelchair users perspectives and their experiences of when their disability in relation to the environment becomes a functional limitation.

Gillegård, Lilian, Adler, Alexandra January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this essay is to develop and deepen the understanding on how voluntary organizations and public sector cooperate when working with homelessness. Furthermore, to investigate these organizations different methods and approaches used in their work with homelessness. A number of analytical questions were formed based on a governance perspective and an organizational theory. The study is based on ten interviews carried out on individuals that work in voluntary organizations in Stockholm and district administrations in Stockholms stad.  The results show that the district administrations and voluntary organizations focus on the preventions and the consequences of homelessness. Furthermore, the result shows that the cooperation has several appearances which have some flaws. As for the close co-operation between the district administrations and the voluntary organizations, it is sometime difficult to ascertain who is responsible and who controls the organization. When it comes to collaboration with other agencies such as health care units, there may be disagreements regarding who takes the responsibility of the client. Our respondents describe this act as a ”catch 22” situation where the client does not get the right help.

Mujkic, Leonora January 2013 (has links)
Stockholms stadsteater (Stockholm’s city theatre) is a public theatre in Stockholm, Sweden. During the last ten years, the theatre has increased its audience by 40 percent, has been called a ”success story” by culture politicians in Stockholm as well as others in the cultural field, and is today the largest theatre in the Nordic countries. At the same time, there is a recurring debate, primarily in the national morning papers’ culture sections, concerning Stockholms stadsteater. The debate often concerns the theatre’s ongoing organizational changes, usually in the form of a constant striving towards a more effective organization, as well as its negative results in the annual employee surveys. Despite usually positive reviews of its productions, Stockholms stadsteater has also been criticized for choosing to set up what by some is considered to be mainstream and commercial productions (for example musicals) at the expense of smaller, more artistic, ones. The main purpose of this study is to analyze different descriptions of Stockholms stadsteater during the years 2004-2013, by using the development of the Swedish cultural policy as background, and institutional organizational theory as the frame of reference. How cultural policy ideas are used in the different stories about Stockholms stadsteater, and the potential conflicts that exist between these different descriptions, is analyzed by using institutional theories about editing, translation and carriers of ideas. The study, based on text analysis and interviews, shows that Stockholms stadsteater is described as a role model and a recipe for success, as well as an effective and modern organization. The theatre is also described as a trademark, as well as part of a defense of democracy and the intrinsic value of culture. The analysis further shows that the different ideas about the theatre are sometimes used – that is, edited and translated – in different ways by different people and in different contexts. It also suggests that the idea of an effective organization can be considered as the main idea in the descriptions of Stockholms stadsteater. In the material studied, the thought of effectiveness is almost always present and something that other ideas often need to relate to in order to be perceived as legitimate. On the other hand, although the idea of effectiveness is important, it can also be controversial. For this reason, it can be edited to fit other cultural policy ideas better. One example is describing the intrinsic value of culture, in this case theatre, as something which is protected by organizations becoming more effective, and thus being able to use their resources to produce more qualitative theatre for more people.

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO CREATE CHANGE? : a Power and Organization Analysis of Stockholm's Action Plan to Improve the Working Situation of Social Security Officers.

Brolin, Susanna January 2018 (has links)
This essay focuses on the following issues:• What are the effects of Stockholm's Action Plan on both decision-makers and social security officers in the field?• How is the outcome of the Action Plan and the work environment affected by methods, organisation and control systems?• Why are conflicts between stakeholders and the organization handled in the way they are done? The overall purpose of the essay is to a critically study of New Public Management, the ongoing personnel crisis in services for children and young people.  Where yhe crisis is resulting in significant staff turnover and high health statistic. What is being done and can be done within the local Action Plan to address this, and whether or not the Stockholm City Action Plan to improve the working situation of the Social Security Officer and Assistant Handler, or is it the organization itself and how is it managed in that case? The paper is supported by Michel Foucault's theories on power and by Christopher Hood's work on New Public Management. In addition, I interviewed four Social Security Officers working in children and young peoples' services, along with four decision-makers (including politicians, managers and union representatives) and have incorporated information gained from those interviews in this essay. The main result in the essay is that: There are common expectations of the action plan's output and that in the long term it will lead to a better working environment, but the decision-makers had more confidence about what can actually be resolved.  However, there is a concern that changes should have been implemented earlier. The crucial challenges are clearly linked to the economy and today's management systems, such as New Public Management (NPM).  NPM has changed over time and within different welfare areas.  There are also clear links between NPM and deficiencies in the working environment in Social Services. The essay addresses a number of these shortcomings and the strategies that Social Security Officers use to address the situation. However, more and more require other reforms, but at present there is no legitimate alternative, although this is being studied at state level in Sweden and Denmark. Conflicts between stakeholders revolve around the power that the organisation has produces; the organisation disciplines its employees as well as the clients, who are the same as society's residents. This has resulted in a culture of silence, where staff are focused on doing and reporting the right things, rather than looking at long-term results. The Action Plan challenges and balances these structures.

Danielsson, André, Zakeri, Moien January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this report is to find and evaluate different systems that can be used as a central platform for publishing information and knowledge about Stockholms stad's various projects spanning several agencies. The goal of this report was to present a requirement specification which summarize the three chosen agencies common work pattern. The requirement specification was used to find and evaluate the different systems that improves Stockholm's stads management of research and development projects. A requirement specification has been defined to help Stockholms stad to acknowledge a common work pattern for the three agencies presentation of project information. By increasing the dissemination of information internally, the efficiency will increase when goal conflicts are avoided and a formal cooperation can lead to better work results. A relational database was proven to be the best option for the agencies and could allow further development and adjustments to the agencies. One advantage with the systems evaluated in this report is that they could help Stockholms stad's transferal of knowledge. This could result in a wider spread of innovative and sustainable ideas than Stockholms stad's current system for managing research and development projects. The final recommendation from the evaluation of the selected systems gave Stockholms stad two possible solutions. The short-term solution was to use Excel with a shared workbook and the long-term solution was to use SharePoint Server as a common platform for communication.

Korkmaz, Emine January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this study has been to use Birkland’s (2009) theory about crisis induced learning to see how the collective learning process has worked for the three actors Stockolms Stads Trafikkontor, Trafikverket and Stockholms länsstyrelse after the two large cases of snow falls 2012 and 2016. I found that there was a need for this study as there are very few studies done that focus on how collective learning works in collaborating organisations despite of the fact that it is an important factor for a strong crisis management capability. I have done this through both creating my own data by use of qualitative interviews and then analysing this with written material in forms of evaluations and annual reports. After applying Birkland’s (2009) theory I identify that an important factor for change to occur as a result of the necessary learning processes he has identified has been through collaboration. 2016 there was more change that happened in contrast to 2012 and the main difference was the level of collaboration as this was higher and more evolved after 2016.

Yarar, Paulina, Aygün, Robin January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate how five individuals ended up in a criminal lifestyle and what other factors may have had an impact on the path to a criminal lifestyle. The study is based on qualitative interviews in combination with a thematic analysis method, to find patterns around the respondents statements. As men are generally overrepresented in terms of criminal groups in crime statistics, we have chosen to limit the study to only examining men who have had a previous criminal lifestyle. The study’s theoretical framework and earlier research show that the environment and social interactions have an effect on however a person develops a criminal lifestyle. Earlier research opined that social ties to society, family, friends and school have a major impact on whether a human becomes a criminal or not. The study’s results show four prominent themes that the respondents have described in their life stories; identity, relationships, sense of community and living environment and financial vulnerability. The study concludes that all themes affect and interact with each other, which affects whether an individual develops a criminal lifestyle. The study shows that an individual ends up in a criminal lifestyle due to external factors and thus does not make an active choice to become a criminal. As this study is based on a very small sample group, further research with a larger sample group is relevant in order to better understand the reasons why an individual ends up in a criminal lifestyle.

Modeling of the primary sludge thickening process at a wastewater treatment plant with the use of machine learning / Modellering av förtjockningsprocessen av primärslam på ett avloppsreningsverk

Bröndum, Eric January 2022 (has links)
This thesis focuses on modeling the primary sludge in the thickening process at Henrikdals wastewater treatment plant in Stockholm, Sweden. The thickening process is one of the core processes at the wastewater treatment plant, where the goal is to thicken a residual product called primary sludge. Two thickener belts are used to thicken the sludge gravimetrically. Polymer is also added to increase the dewaterability and to thicken the sludge. The thickness of the sludge is measured by the total solids content (TS) in the sludge and is measured with total solid measurement sensors. These sensors have, however, been shown to be inaccurate. A long short-term memory network (LSTM) and a feed-forward neural network were compared by using sensor and instrument data to predict the TS in the thickened primary sludge. To validate the performance of the models, manual laboratory testing samples were compared with the predictions of the models. Simulations in Simulink were also performed with the intent of simulating the thickening process. By using a machine learning model that could predict the TS, hypotheses regarding reductions in the polymer dosage were explored. A feed-forward and feedback control strategy in combination with the LSTM architecture were used and it was shown that the TS of the thickened sludge could be controlled by regulating the polymer dosage. Thus, using a feedback control strategy gives further opportunities for the wastewater treatment plant to choose whether a lower polymer consumption or a higher TS is preferred, as these two variables correlate with each other. Förtjockningen sker i två separata linjer.
