In this paper, I will study job-ads published in the newspaper Hallandsposten within the period 1915-1970. I will investigate whether job-ads can give information about changes in society from a gender perspective that can be useful when teaching history. To accomplish this I will conduct my study with gender-theory and through qualitative text analysis. The analysis was categorized into four themes: requested gender, age and corporeality, family relationships and ability or character. The results showed that changes in society are evident in job-ads within all categories. Most prominent was the changes in terms of how job-ads for women has been constructed throughout the period. In terms of the usefulness of teaching I came to the conclusion that job-ads are not the ideal teaching material compared to regular articles in the newspaper. However, with well-based questions job-ads can be efficient when teaching subjects such as: women’s history, labor history and other events that can be noted in job-ads.

Abort/Motstånd är en diskursanalytisk studie av text och bild hämtade från den internetbaserade verksamheten hos de svenska abortkritiska organisationerna Ja till livet och Människorätt för ofödda. Uppsatsens övergripande syfte är att urskilja hur kvinnan och hennes kropp konstrueras inom antiabortrörelsens internetbaserade verksamhet – det vill säga den diskursordning som behandlas. Det teoretiska ramverket utgår från kvinnligt subjektskap och kroppslighet, abort analyseras även i relation till graviditet och/eller moderskap. Analysen tar avstamp i kvinnans situation och behandlar body/mind-distinktionen, samt problematiserar denna i relation till den medicinska västerländska diskurs som ofta fråntar den gravida kvinnan subjektsstatus. Av analysen framgår det att huvuddragen i motståndsdiskurserna, i relation till kvinnlig autonomi, karaktäriseras av tre drag: att fostret tilldelas super-subjektstatus, att den gravida kvinnan berövas sitt subjektskap och att kvinnor som vill göra abort närmast porträtteras som monster. Detta innebär i förlängningen att gravida kvinnor avhumaniseras – eller att de riskerar att betraktas som levande kuvöser.

Inledning: Studien ämnar att undersöka gymmets kulturmiljö samt deltagande individers förhållande till den egna kroppen, dess förändring och identitetsförankring. Syfte och frågeställningar: Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur informanterna reflekterar kring träning, kropp och gym samt hur det kan kopplas till observationer av gymmets kulturmiljö. Detta utifrån följande tre frågeställningar: Hur uttrycker informanterna att förhållandet till den egna kroppen ser ut, och hur den har förändrats sedan de började träna på gym? Hur kopplar informanterna träningen till sin identitet och hur gestaltas identitet i gymmiljö? Hur kan gymmets kulturmiljö beskrivas utifrån observationer? Metod: Studien bygger på fyra semistrukturerade intervjuer och tre observationstillfällen. Intervjuerna fokuserade på de tre teman träning, kroppslighet och identitet och pågick i 30-45 minuter. Delatagande observationer skedde på ett gym i Södra Sverige vid tre olika tillfällen. För att underlätta insamling av material utgick observationerna ifrån ett observationsunderlag (se bilaga). Resultat: Informanterna anser att förhållandet till den egna kroppen förändrats och blivit mer utseendefixerat sedan de började träna på gym. Identiteten är starkt förankrad i gymträningen och spelar en avgörande roll i upprähållandet av identiteten. I gymkulturen är det vanligt att kroppar granskas och värderas. Slutsats: Deltagande i kulturen har förändrat synen på kroppen för informanterna och träningen är en stor del av identiteten.

This essay examines the body in Stina Aronsons Den fjärde vägen, and is based on theories from Sara Ahmed who writes about how the body is orientated toward and away from objects and others. The essay also intend to examine the way the character inhabit the room from a bodily experience and how this affect the way they feel and act against each other and themselves.  My method is close reading, in which I approach parts of the book that refers to the body from different angles. In that way I read the book from a gender oriented perspective as well as a social perspective— in which the characters are related to different norms that causes expectations of how they should act in a certain kind of way.

This thesis examines romantic relationships between human and artificially intelligent characters in the science-fiction films Ex Machina (2014), Her (2013) and “Be Right Back” (2013) from anthology series Black Mirror. The purpose of the thesis is to examine these relationships in relation to norms concerning corporeality, gender, sexuality and romance, exploring how the portrayal of these relationships and the characters in them subvert and/or reinforce those norms. A descriptive coding method was used followed by analytical coding to determine which theoretical concepts would be applied to which scenes. The theoretical framework consists mainly of Judith Butler’s theories on gender-performativity and Donna Haraway’s cyborg-figuration, and other theoretical concepts that were not used as extensively. The analysis showed that the films occasionally reinforce the norms in question due to cis- and heteronormative tendencies within the romantic relationships and due to normative aspects within the construction of the characters. A few examples of this is depicting a heteronormative, vocalized femininity and sexualized, normatively female bodies as well as partly establishing stereotypical, gendered dynamics in the romantic relationships. However, the study also showed that these films construction of the characters and their romantic relationships manages to subvert the above-mentioned norms. They do so by highlighting how corporeality is integral to the social construction of gender and not separate from that process, by critiquing monogamy being the normative type of romantic relationship and by exposing the male characters’ objectifying gaze towards female characters’ bodies. Through these transgressive examples and several others like them, the films display the subversive potential of science-fiction.

This thesis explores the experience of reorientation from being in relationships with men to be in relationships with women. The study is based on semi-structured interviews with 8 women between the ages of 28-67 years old. The purpose of the study is to analyze the women’s narratives on this experience in relation to sexuality, relationships, embodiment and various norms associated with heteronormativity. The theoretical framework for the study is queer phenomenology and the interpretational work has been conducted with close reading combined with narrative analysis. The study shows that the women perceive themselves as freer within the lesbian relationship, because they experience that the lesbian relationship does not have to confirm heteronormative expectations to the same extent as a heterosexual relationship. Further this is also one of the main themes throughout the material and thus the thesis: the women sense, for example, that their bodies do not have to conform heterosexual norms for how they do, move or embody themselves. Within the study I argue that this perceived freedom could be understood in relation to the former heterosexual life as well as an overall insight to how power structures specifically between men and women works to subordinate women.

This study examines the perspectives and lived experiences of seven blind men in their embodied tactile, audial and olfactory sensations and experiences, and situating their identities in both societal and historical conditions and social discourses and prejudices in regards to masculinity, blindness and disabled bodies. Through theories on embodiment, phenomenology, gender performativity, crip theory and intersectional theory, studies on blind gendered experiences, historical research on blind life experiences in Sweden, and linguistic and cultural representations of blindness, this study examines how the subjectivity of each participant is created in the meeting and interactions between the individual embodied experience and the societal intersubjective experience of living in a blind body. The participants regard masculinity as a collection of norms, attitudes and expectations, that is characterized by a competitive social dominance, scarce or lack of emotional expressions, egocentrism and disregard for other, and being sexually active and successful. Masculinity is expressed through a range of embodied performative actions such as audibly, tactile, olfactory, and visually. The participants The participants express a societal pressure on performing masculinity, as living as a blind subject and not adhering to assigned gender norms have profound effects and consequences on the individuals options and opportunities to form both professional and intimate relationships, and thus accelerate risks of experiencing unemployment, stigmatization, and social isolation. The rigid frames of masculinity blind men live under is closely intertwined with their socioeconomic status in society, and the empowerment and broader representation of disabled bodies och subjects is the key to a more open untethered blind expression and understanding of gender.

Svenska elevers resultat inom läsning har under de senaste åren sjunkit. Läsdelegationen poängterar att det behövs läsfrämjande insatser för både elevers läsförmåga och läsmotivation. Syftet med denna kunskapsöversikt är att utforska den interaktiva högläsningens effekter på lågstadieelevers språkutveckling; vad krävs för att interaktiv högläsning skall gynna barns språkutveckling? Tio vetenskapliga artiklar valdes ut genom en systematisk informationssökning i såväl nationella som internationella databaser. Fyra teman identifierades i en tematisk analys. Resultatet visar att interaktiv högläsning är en del av en större lärprocess som behöver förankras i anslutande literacy-aktiviteter. Av lärare fordras förberedelse, kunskap i och förståelse för metoden, där medvetna litteraturval ingår. För både lärare och elever behövs även kroppsliga och sinnliga inslag för att stärka elevernas förståelsearbete. Slutsatsen landar i att det ställs stora krav på lärare för att den interaktiva högläsningen ska verka språkutvecklande. Därmed önskar vi vidare kompetensutveckling för lärare inom ämnet. Avslutningsvis diskuteras kunskapsöversiktens metod och brister samt förslag på vidare forskning.

Denna uppsats belyser kroppslighetens roll inom Svenska kyrkans liturgi, i syfte att utforska hur fysiska praktiker och sinnliga erfarenheter förmedlar och fördjupar religiös och andlig förståelse. Med en bakgrund rotad i personlig reflektion kring liturgiska traditioner, undersöker studien de specifika praktikerna och deras inverkan på deltagande och uttryck av det gudomliga. Genom en kvalitativ metodik, inklusive en detaljerad innehållsanalys, utforskar denna uppsats två samtida teologers syn på kroppslighet: Martin Modéus och Lena Sjöstrand. Avgränsningar görs för att koncentrera sig på dessa två författares arbeten, som ligger till grund för de empiriska och teoretiska insikter som presenteras. I analysen framkommer det att kroppslighet och sinnlighet är centralt för förståelsen av Svenska kyrkans liturgi, vilket utmanar idén om Ordet som den främsta medlaren av det gudomliga mötet. Resultaten tyder på att kroppsliga gudstjänstpraktiker är betydelsefulla inte bara för den individuella spiritualiteten utan även för att stärka gemenskapskänslan bland församlingsmedlemmar. Uppsatsen avslutar med en diskussion om de möjliga konsekvenserna av kroppsligheten för den bredare kyrkliga praxis samt för framtidens forskningsriktningar - såsom inkluderingen av mångfaldiga kroppsliga erfarenheter i Svenska kyrkans gudstjänstliv. Denna studie bidrar till fördjupad förståelse för hur liturgiska praktiker både kan uttrycka och forma tro i samtidens församlingskontext.

Through the concept of longing, this study aims to explore non-binary embodiment and becoming, with a focus on examining how non-binary embodiment makes and is made possible. The study takes it departure in Karen Barads theories and concepts such as intra-action, and it is also from Barad the concept of longing is inspired. Longing is understood as the drive that is and makes possible life and the livable life. Longing is not reserved for humans but is rather tangent a posthuman understanding of matters agency, where matter is understood as an active agent in its own creation. The study is based on a combination of go-along interviews and semistructured interviews with six non-binary people.The study can be understood as an effort to make possible new or other ways to understand sex/gender, embodiment and becoming. Ways that is not based on a framework of understanding that in its foundational structure reduces the non-binary as something unintelligible. In the study longing is used as a means to create order and direction in the analysis of the participants stories. Longing has the benefit of being in constant movement and change, as such it contributes as a way of understanding that do not limit the participants stories of sex/gender, embodiment and becoming.
