Arbetsmotivation och arbetsprestation i en tid präglad av digitalt arbete : En kvalitativ undersökning ur medarbetarens perspektiv / Work motivation and work performance in a time characterized by digital work : A qualitative survey from the employee's perspective

Erikstedt, Sabina, Lindqvist, Matilda, Scrieciu, Ruxandra January 2022 (has links)
Research questions: What internal motivational factors can positively affect work performance in digital work, from the employee's perspective? Purpose: The purpose of the study is to account for the motivational factors that, from the employee's perspective, affect work motivation and work performance in the increasingly common digital work environment. Method: The study was based on a qualitative method with an abductive approach where seven semi-structured interviews were conducted. To analyze the empirical data, a thematic analysis was used. Conclusion: It can be stated that the digital work environment has not affected work motivation and work performance significantly as large parts of the results are in line with previous studies on motivation research. The study showed that the motivating factors that, according to employees, positively effect work performance in digital work are recognition and personal development.

Digitalt ansvarstagande som stöd till en hållbar arbetsmiljö / Digital responsibility in support of a sustainable work environment

Rydén, Sofie, Larsson, Caroline January 2021 (has links)
The physical work environment is a well known phenomenon where the work of improvement has been going on for a long time. The digital work environment on the other hand is a newer concept and is more recognicable due to the digital development. The concepts that make up the phenomenon of the digital work environment and their function and impact is something that this study will examine to contribute to a sustainable workplace. The study will examine what companies do to contribute to a sustainable digital work environment as well as how the work environment can be improved through digital responsibility. The result of the study is based on earlier research and theories about digital work environment, digital integrity, digital functionality, digital sustainability, and also qualitative interviews. The interviews provide information from a management perspective as well as from an operational level. The two interviewees on a managerial level are both digital managers, one for a privately owned IT business and the other one in a large county in Sweden. The two respondents who represent the operational level are working as an IT consultant and a digital modelar respectively. After research, a clear greater interest and focus emerges on the digital work environment. The technique itself has for many years been controlling the development which has led to the users having to adapt to the technique, instead of an interplay. The focus has now shifted to treat the technique as an aid to support and adapt to the organisation, its users and their needs. The results of the study describe several things that the studied companies are actively doing to contribute to a better work environment, but there are also challenges along with the digital development. With digital responsibility as a standing point, we came up with a list of points which companies should strive for in order to achieve a sustainable digital work environment. Some of our conclusions for businesses to use to contribute to a better digital work environment are to protect the integrity of employees, educate in new technology and information management as well as to support and facilitate work when technical problems occur.

: En kvalitativ studie om upplevelsen av medarbetarskap i en digital arbetsmiljö / Do you feel excited to ”go” to work? : A qualitative study of the experience of employeeship in a digital work environment

Armborg, Dennis, Ögren, Markus January 2021 (has links)
Background: Digitalization is a contemporary phenomenon that is changing how the society, organizations and people live their lives and organize themselves. When digitalization changes organizational processes and the way people work, the boundaries between work and the ‘rest of life’ are being erased. To handle this change, organizations need a collective initiative where relationships between employees, leaders and managers must be handled, which is something that is called employeeship in a Swedish context. The digital transition has been accelerated as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, where a major shift to digital tools has taken place. Employees' conceptions about digitalization are divided and can be considered both positive and negative. There is a certain lack of research in employeeship, especially in a more modern and digitized context. With more digitized organizations, there are still questions about how it affects the employeeship. This creates an interest in examining employees' experiences of employeeship in a digital work environment. Research questions: RQ1: How do employees experience employeeship in a digital work environment? RQ2: Which importance does the digital work environment have for employees’ experience of commitment and meaningfulness? Purpose: The purpose of the study is to examine the meaning of employeeship in a digital work environment and value the importance of engagement and meaningfulness to gain an enhanced understanding. Method: Since the purpose of the study is to examine experiences a qualitative methodology has been used. This has been done through seven semi-structured digital interviews with employees from both private and public organizations through Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Results: A majority of employees experienced an increase in effectiveness and participation, however they also experienced a loss of social contact with their colleagues. A tendency of increased difficulties of concentration and new distractions was embossed when working in a digital work environment which lowered their commitment. Employees experienced meaningfulness from work duties, fellowship and contributing to society. The digital work environment eases the puzzle of everyday life however at a cost of lost social contact which employees experienced reducing the meaningfulness of work. Conclusion: The conclusion of the study is that the experiences of employeeship in a digital work environment are different and can be described as a double-edged sword. The digital work environment brings positive elements, such as efficiency and increased participation, as well as negative elements of impaired communication and fellowship. The importance of commitment and meaningfulness remains great, but the study also emphasized the importance of considering fellowship and cooperation for a constructive employeeship in a digital work environment.

Hur påverkar implementering av multifaktorautentisering användarnas digitala arbetsmiljö? : En intervjustudie om förutsättningar och motivation för säker användning i en professionell utbildningsorganisation / How does implementation of multi-factor authentication affect users' digital work environment? : An interview study on conditions and motivation for secure usage in a professional educational organization

Geronson, Carl, Mellvé, Oscar January 2023 (has links)
As digitalization has increased, there has been a growing focus on IT security. There are various types of solutions to strengthen IT security, and implementing multi-factor authentication is one of them. In the security efforts of organizations, users play an important role, but they can also be seen as a security threat rather than a resource. In this interview study, we examine how the implementation of multi-factor authentication affects users' digital work environment. To understand this, the study used a qualitative data collection method, conducting ten semi-structured interviews with employees from Malmö university. In the analysis of the results, the study utilized theoretical frameworks such as the Technology Acceptance Model, Protection Motivation Theory, and a phenomenological perspective. The study reveals that there is unpredictability associated with multi-factor authentication, creating a cognitive adjustment and a hindrance in workflow. It is also evident that users' awareness of IT security is an important factor in accepting security measures such as multi-factor authentication. The study emphasizes the need for a good user experience in existing IT systems to welcome and adapt to future implementations of security systems.

Girard, Louis-Alexandre 08 1900 (has links)
Due to certain structural barriers to accessing employment, many newly arrived immigrants are relegated to low-paying, so-called "low-skilled" jobs. As an extension of these dynamics, studies show that people of immigrant background are overrepresented in digital work platforms, a form of precarious employment due in particular to the low wages paid and the imposition of a self-employed status that limits access to various social protection schemes. Despite this observation, few Quebec and Canadian studies have explored the link between the socio-professional integration of immigrants and digital platforms. Based on semi-structured interviews with 17 workers of digital food delivery platforms, this thesis examines the role of these platforms in the socio-professional integration of newcomers to Quebec. The results of this exploratory study suggest a nuanced view of the situation of newly arrived immigrants and platform workers. Despite their high level of education and previous work experience, the majority of participants had not managed to find a job that matched their qualifications and expectations in the months and years following their arrival in Quebec. Before working on the platforms, they had first turned to low-skill, low-paying salaried work that exposed them to several work constraints. Despite the precarious working conditions offered and the many dissatisfactions voiced by the participants, digital work platforms nevertheless represent an advantageous alternative since they are sometimes accompanied with better pay, less physical effort, and greater control over working hours and schedules. For all the participants, platform work is a temporary activity and is part of their professional and migratory projects - in the case of temporary residents - but also in a context marked by the COVID-19 pandemic. The transition to platform work constitutes a form of strategy mobilized by the participants to overcome the various constraints - economic, reconciliation of spheres of life, restrictive migratory status - encountered in the course of their socio-professional integration and to facilitate the transition to a favorable situation.

The opportunities, challenges and dilemmas of digitization need to be balanced against the importance of the physical meeting : A qualitative study

Bouvin Hansson, Carina January 2023 (has links)
Introduction: Dogs fulfill a great function in humans. In addition to exercise, they also provide joy, love and quality of life. Research shows that it is health promoting for the population to carry out activities with a dogteam, a dog handler with a social service dog. Up until now, almost no activities take place digitally, so with this study, doghandlers’ views on digital work with social service dogs were investigated. Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate what dog handlers see as opportunities and challenges with digitization in their health promotion work with social service dogs. Methods: A qualitative interview study with an inductive approach that was analyzed with a content analysis. The theory used in the analysis was the Technology Acceptance Model "TAM" and had a theoretical health-promoting starting point with the principles of participation, sustainability, empowerment and equality. The informants were recruited through purposive sampling and one through a snowball sample. Six dog handlers who worked with social service dogs were interviewed. Results: Four categories emerged: Different opportunities to work digitally with a dog, Challenges in digital work with a dog, Digital work without a dog means opportunities and Dilemma with digital technology which together formed the theme The opportunities, challenges and dilemmas of digitization need to be balanced against the importance of the physical meeting. Conclusion: There are development opportunities for health-promoting digital work with social service dogs and robots are a complement in public health work. It is important to find a balance between the physical meeting and digital interactions. It must be made easier for people to achieve good and equal health.

Lund, Arwid January 2015 (has links)
This study is about voluntary productive activities in digital networks and on digital platforms that often are described as pleasurable. The aim of the study is to relate the peer producers’ perceptions of their activities on a micro level in terms of play, game, work and labour, to their views on Wikipedia’s relation to capitalism on a macro level, to compare the identified ideological formations on both levels and how they relate to each other, and finally compare the identified ideological formations with contemporary Marxist theory on cognitive capitalism. The intention is to perform a critical evaluation of the economic role of peer production in society.Qualitative and semi-structured interviews with eight Wikipedians active within the Swedish language version of Wikipedia constitute the empirical base of the study together with one public lecture by a Wikipedian on the encyclopaedia and a selection of pages in the encyclopaedia that are text analysed. The transcribed interviews have been analysed using a version of ideological analysis as it has been developed by the Gothenburg School. The views on the peer producing activities on the micro level has been analysed in a dialectical way but is also grounded in a specific field model.Six ideological formations are identified in the empirical material. On the micro level: the peripheral, bottom-up- and top-down-formation, on the macro level: the Californian alikeness ideology, communism of capital and capitalism of communism. Communism of capital has two sides to it: one stresses the synergies and the other the conflicts between the two phenomena. The formations on the macro level conform broadly to contemporary Marxist theory, but there are important differences as well. The study results in a hypothesis that the critical side of communism of capital and the peripheral and bottom-up-formation could help to further a more sustainable capitalism of communism, and counteract a deeper integration of the top-down-formation with Californian alikeness ideology. The latter is the main risk of capitalist co-optation of the peer production that is underway as the manifestly dominant formations on the macro level are Californian alikeness ideology and communism of capital. / <p>©<strong> </strong>2015 Arwid Lund, used under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 3.0 license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/</p><p></p>

Alberts, Inge 05 1900 (has links)
This research reveals how textual genres can be exploited in digital work environments to improve the textual practices of managers and secretaries in the context of a municipality and the Canadian federal government. The first objective of this research assesses the suitability of digital work environments to support the textual practices of managers and secretaries in their reading, writing and manipulation of texts. The second objective describes the various roles of textual genre during the managerial and secretarial textual practices. Using email as a focal point, the third objective examines how genre can be exploited to advance the benefits of textual practices in the digital work environments. This qualitative research entails a two-phase methodology. By the study of 17 secretaries and 17 managers, the first phase consists of a thorough examination of the current textual practices in the Canadian federal government and municipal contexts and the difficulties encountered during these practices. This phase also considers the various roles of genre in the digital work environments along with the salient clues sought during email management. This study deployed three data collection techniques: semi-structured interviews, diary journals and cognitive inquiries. The results are examined using several qualitative content analysis techniques. The second phase of this research consists of developing an email processing sequence to further expand our understanding of textual genre and its exploitation in the design of digital work environments. The data for this phase uses a corpus of 1703 messages developed from a sample of two governmental managers. The results provide an encompassing overview of practices relating to the reading, writing and manipulation of texts that are both common and specific to managers and secretaries. With over 40% of events recorded in the diary journal relating to email, the importance of this type of system in digital work environments is clearly emphasized. The difficulties encountered in the digital work environments are also described. The role of genre during textual practices is examined according to a matrix illustrating both the individual and collective dimensions of genre in addition to its three main facets: the form, the content and the purpose. We present next an analytic framework of the prominent cues affecting email management to summarize the process of interpreting messages by the recipient. A typology of the categorization patterns of managers is also developed and used in a statistical experiment aiming to automatically describe and categorize email. Resulting from this experiment, we observe specific linguistic behaviours that characterize each email category. It is also revealed that automatic categorization based on message lexicon is more efficient than non-lexical categorization. At the conclusion of this research, we suggest to enrich the traditional human-computer interaction paradigm with a semiotics of genre in the digital work environments. The study also offers a reflection regarding email membership to a specific genre using the theoretical concepts of hypergenre, genre and sub-genre. The success of the automatic categorization of email according to genre-related facets (the content, the form and the purpose) uncovers valuable insights and perspectives in designing digital work environments with the objective of facilitating the vital performance of textual practices by employees.

Alberts, Inge 05 1900 (has links)
This research reveals how textual genres can be exploited in digital work environments to improve the textual practices of managers and secretaries in the context of a municipality and the Canadian federal government.
