The commercial areas of this neighborhood are taken as central object of the investigations, observing the transformations in the urban landscape. To do so, we proceed to research in archives that revealed several sources for this study, such as the Historical and Geographical Institute of Goiás and the State Historic Archive of Goiás. Also found in the Municipal Secretariat of Planning and Urbanism (SEPLAM) ) and in the Documentation and Library Center of SEPLAM, such as photographs, maps, decrees and newspaper clippings. In addition to the public archives, the historical images of Campinas were provided by photographers Hélio de Oliveira and Eduardo Bilemjian (represented by his grandson Eliezer Bilemjian). In addition to working with the primary sources, field surveys were carried out through readings of the formal and informal neighborhood trade, as well as exercises in urban ethnography, with the aim of helping to apprehend the dynamics of the place. To these sources are also added testimonials and memories of residents and merchants of Campinas. Thus, it is observed that both Avenida 24 de Outubro and the Municipal Market of Campinas, anchor-avenue and place of neighborhood traditions, respectively, remain in the urban memory. / Considerando a vocação comercial do bairro de Campinas, que é antiga e vem da sua fundação, objetiva-se analisar os fatos que contribuíram para a formação do comércio do bairro, em Goiânia, avaliando o que permanece como memória urbana. Adotam-se como objeto central das investigações as áreas comerciais desse bairro, observando as transformações na paisagem urbana. Para tanto, procede-se a pesquisas em arquivos que revelaram diversas fontes para este estudo, como o Instituto Histórico e Geográfico de Goiás e Arquivo Histórico Estadual de Goiás. Também foram de muita valia os documentos encontrados na Secretaria Municipal de Planejamento e Urbanismo (SEPLAM) e no Centro de Documentação e Biblioteca da SEPLAM, como fotografias, mapas, decretos e recortes de jornais. Além dos arquivos públicos, foram acessadas as imagens históricas de Campinas, cedidas pelos fotógrafos Hélio de Oliveira e Eduardo Bilemjian (representado por seu neto Eliézer Bilemjian). Além do trabalho com as fontes primárias, realizaram-se levantamentos de campo mediante leituras da paisagem do comércio do bairro, formal e informal, além de exercícios de etnografia urbana, com o intuito de auxiliar na apreensão da dinâmica do lugar. A essas fontes também se somam depoimentos e memórias de moradores e comerciantes de Campinas. Desse modo, observa-se que tanto a Avenida 24 de Outubro quanto o Mercado Municipal de Campinas, avenida-âncora e lugar de tradições do bairro, respectivamente, permanecem na memória urbana.

Use and Misuse of Cognitive Enhancers by Students at an Academic Health Science Center

Purpose: Prescription stimulant use as "cognitive enhancers" has been described among undergraduate college students. However, the use of prescription stimulants among future health care professionals is not well characterized. This study was designed to determine the prevalence of prescription stimulant misuse among students at an academic health sciences center. Method: Electronic surveys were e-mailed to 621 medical, pharmacy, and respiratory therapy students at East Tennessee State University for four consecutive weeks in fall 2011. Completing the survey was voluntary and anonymous. Surveys asked about reasons for, frequency of, and side effects of nonprescription misuse of prescription stimulants. Given the sensitive material, an opportunity to win one of ten $50 gift cards was used as an incentive. Results: Three hundred seventy-two (59.9%) students completed the survey from three disciplines (47.6% medical, 70.5% pharmacy, and 57.6% respiratory therapy). Overall, 11.3% of responders admitted to misusing prescription stimulants. There was more misuse by respiratory therapy students, although this was not statistically significant (10.9% medicine, 9.7% pharmacy, 26.3% respiratory therapy; P = .087). Reasons for prescription stimulant misuse included to enhance alertness/energy (65.9%), to improve academic performance (56.7%), to experiment (18.2%), and to use recreationally/get high (4.5%). Conclusions: Prescription stimulant misuse was prevalent among participating students, but further research is needed to describe prevalence among future health care workers more generally. The implications and consequences of such misuse require further study across professions with emphasis on investigating issues of academic dishonesty (e.g., "cognitive enhancement"), educational quality, and patient safety or health care quality.

Anpassning av byggregler vid förtätning på en begränsad tomtyta / Adaption of building rules for densifying cities on a small land area

Syfte: Dagens urbanisering ger behov av förtätning av stadskärnor vilket kan leda till borttagande av parkering, grönområden och solljus. Att bygga och bo i innerstäder är dyrt på grund av höga markpriser, komplicerade projekt och en hög efterfrågan på bostäder. Bostäder idag utformas utefter regelverken SIS och BBR vilket i innerstäder kan få komplikationer. Målet med arbetet är därför att ifrågasätta vissa regler kring tillgänglighet, rumshöjd och ljusförhållanden i syfte att förenkla förtätning och skapa ett nytt förslag av en planerad infill-fastighet där en varierad lägenhetsstruktur uppnåtts tillsammans med en potentiell ekonomisk vinst.   Metod: Arbetets undersökningsmetoder är kvalitativa och består av litteraturundersökningar, dokumentanalyser och intervjuer. Dessa utfördes för att analysera dagens förtätning och resultera i en skissning där byggregler avskaffats för att förenkla viss förtätning.   Resultat: Arbetets skissning visar att en mångfaldig lägenhetsstruktur är uppnåbar via avskaffande av vissa BBR-krav som skapat olika lägenhetstyper, intressanta volymer, tvåvåningslägenheter och yteffektiva planlösningar. Avskaffandet av regler för att förenkla förtätning påverkar inblandade på ett eller annat sätt.   Konsekvenser: Att avskaffa byggkrav i förtätningssammanhang kan ta bort kvalitéer som dagsljus och tillgänglighet i bostäder. Kortsiktiga lösningar på parkeringsbristen finns men förtätning med levande bottenvåningar utförs för att lösa parkeringsbristen långsiktigt genom att skapa tillgångar geografiskt nära människor som minskar behovet av bil. Att avskaffa regler kan leda till enklare projektering och bidra med viss ekonomisk fördel, men dyr nybyggnation tillsammans med hög efterfrågan på centrala bostäder kan försvåra för låga budgetar och prissänkning av bostäder.   Begränsningar: Det generella resultatet av arbetet gällande regelavskaffande fungerar i förtätningssammanhang i andra täta städer men då undersökningen är baserade på Jönköpings innerstad och erfarenheter och åsikter kopplade dit kan generella giltigheten ifrågasättas. To build and live in inner cities is expensive because of high land prices, complicated projects and a high demand for housing. Homes today are designed according to the regulations SIS and BBR, which in the inner cities leads to complications, especially regarding accessibility qualities and light conditions. The aim of this work is therefore to abolish certain rules regarding accessibility, room height and lighting conditions in order to simplify densification and create a new proposal of a planned infill property where a varied apartment structure has been achieved together with a potential financial gain.   Method: The research methods of this work are qualitative and consist of literature studies, document analyzes and interviews. These were performed to analyze today's densification and result in a sketch where building rules were abolished to simplify some densification.   Findings: The work outline shows that a multiple apartment structure is achievable via the abolition of certain BBR requirements that have created different types of apartments, interesting volumes, two-storey apartments and surface-efficient floor plans. Abolition of rules to simplify densification affects people in one way or another.   Implications: Abolishing construction requirements in densification contexts can remove qualities such as daylight and accessibility in homes. Short-term solutions to the parking  shortage exist but densification with living ground floors is performed to solve the parking shortage in the long term by creating assets geographically close to people which reduces the need for car. Removing rules can lead to simpler planning and contribute with some economic advantage, but expensive new construction together with a high demand for central housing can make it difficult for low budgets and price reductions in housing.   Limitations: The general result of this work on the elimination of rules works in densification contexts in other dense cities, but since the survey method is based on Jönköping's inner city and experiences and opinions linked to it, the general validity can be questioned. Etude du comportement thermomécanique de la YSZ projetée plasma sous vieillissement hydrique / Study of the YSZ mechanical behavior under humid atmosphere

Les dépôts de YSZ, élaborés par projection plasma, sont des céramiques réfractaires généralement utilisées pour les applications de barrières thermiques (TBC). Sa faible conductivité thermique associée à sa bonne résistance mécanique assure aux TBC de hautes performances et de bons rendements. La structure et la microstructure complexe sont à l'origine de ces propriétés mécaniques, et celles doivent être contrôlées. Tout comme les céramiques denses la YSZ se dégrade en température et sous vapeur d'eau.La dégradation des propriétés mécaniques dans le temps (module d'élasticité et contrainte à rupture)est accélérée par la température. Pour cette étude les propriétés ont été évaluées en flexion 3 points à température ambiante. Les observations structurales et microstructurales ont été réalisées respectivement par DRX et microscopie électronique à balayage au cours du vieillissement. Un model analytique a pu être proposé pour prédire le comportement du matériau dans le temps sous humidité. / Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ) coatings, deposited by plasma sprayed process, are refractory ceramics mostly used as the Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC) applications. The low YSZ thermal conductivity associated to the good mechanical resistance ensures a high performances and efficiencies of these TBC. The structure and the complex microstructure are responsible for the mechanical properties and must be controlled. Like brittle ceramic materials, the YSZ is affected by degradation at low temperature due to water vapor. Material ageing results from the progressive degradation of the mechanical properties (such as fracture strength and Young’s modulus), which seem to decrease in time and accelerate depending on temperature. In this study, the mechanical properties have been evaluated by means of three-point bending tests at room temperature. The observations of the structure and the microstructure are respectively investigated by X-ray diffraction and SEM-technique with material ageing. An analytical model is suggested in order to predict the evolution of the properties under humidity atmosphere.

解讀宜家的消費文化意涵─以布迪厄的日常生活言行理論為之

本研究以宜家家居(IKEA)為研究對象,在台灣的社會文化脈絡下,探究其中包含的消費文化意涵。研究分為兩大部分,第一部分是整理宜家的消費特色;第二部分則是深入訪談不同社經背景的消費者對宜家的看法,並以布迪厄的概念工具對研究結果進行分析,最後針對兩部分的研究結果提出批判性的結論。   第一部分的研究乃是參照文獻與訪談宜家人員的結果,描述宜家的消費特色,以及宜家的台灣分店有何不同之處,藉此說明宜家此一消費場域的情況。第二部分則是以質性的深入訪談法,訪問十六位背景各異的台灣消費者,再以紮根理論精神的資料分析程序將訪問結果譯碼,並配合布迪厄的日常生活言行理論,分析出影響消費者對宜家觀感的慣習及資本因素為何。研究者除了以消費行為與文化意義兩個面向對宜家的消費現象提出討論之外,也提出個人的批判性關懷做為結論。   最後,研究結論認為,在本土文化力量薄弱的情況下,台灣的消費者未能發展出適合的認同,而隨著感性消費的趨勢起舞。在感性消費所訴諸的生活型態是仿自中產階級的情況下,台灣普遍存在著「跛腳的布爾喬亞人」-只有羨想,但缺乏行動。而這樣的情結,也穩固了既有中產階級的優勢社會結構。   另外,研究者也指出,關於夢想社會和感性消費的相關論述,有可能是一種為現存資本體制與國家合法性服務的再生產論述,身為知識分子,必須有所意識的看待這些來自於國外或國家體系提供的資訊。

<p>Att shoppa har blivit en utav våra allra vanligaste ledighetssysslor. Konsumenter rör sig obehindrat mellan butiker och dess olika miljöer, ofta på ett slumpmässigt sätt. Frågan är hur mycket slump det faktiskt är hur miljöerna får konsumeter att må och att röra sig. Vi har valt att observera konsumenter för att se hur miljön påverkar till både aktiva beslut och kognitiva beslut. Miljön ska skapa rätt känslor hos konsumenter för att de ska trivas i miljön samt återvända till den.</p><p>Tjänstemiljö är ett allt mer centralt begrepp för företag, eftersom det ses som en funktion att skapa avsedda känslor genom att avbilda en annan verklighet. Det är även så att tjänstemiljön avspeglar och skapar mening till konceptet samt skapar ett värde hos konsumenten.</p><p>Det praktiska syftet med uppsatsen är undersöka hur konsumenter påverkas av tjänstemiljön i ett köpcentrum. Det teoretiska syftet är att försöka konkretisera vad som sker hos konsumenter vid besöket av ett köpcentrum. Syftet ska leda till underlag för köpcentrumet Mitt i city i Karlstad, om hur tjänstemiljön skapar en upplevelse, mening och funktion till konsumenter genom köpcentrumets koncept.</p><p>Vår teoretiska bakgrund och kunskapsfront för denna uppsats bygger på tidigare forskning kring designattribut inom konsumtionsmiljöer samt påverkan från miljön till konsumenter. The environment also creates meaning and value to the concept of a mall.</p><p>The utilitarian purpose with this essay is to investigate how consumers are affected by the servicescape in a shopping mall. The theoretical purpose is attempting to concretize what really happens among the consumers when they visit the mall. The purpose will lead to a foundation for the shopping mall “Mitt i City” in Karlstad, about how the servicescape creates experience, meaning and a function to consumers thru the malls concept.</p><p>Our theoretical background and proficiencies for this essay is built upon earlier research based on design attributes within consumption environments, and the research about the influence that environment brings to the consumers. Video observations have been done for our studies, to provide and complement existing studies about consumer behaviour in servicescape. We have also reasoned about the shopping mall with its concept, value and meaning for the servicescape.</p><p>To put through our studies we have chosen a qualitative method and studied informants well being in the environment. We have also observed their movement. The aim of this essay was to describe how school social workers can help and support students with parents who abuse alcohol or other drugs. We wanted to see how school social workers room for action is presented and how it affects their work with students living with parents who are abusing. We used a qualitative method to elucidate how school social workers handle this issue in a more profound way. By conducting semistructured interviews with six school social workers in one province in southern Sweden we gained exhaustive and detailed answers. In the analysis we used street level bureaucracy and theory of recognition. The result showed that the school social workers regard their overarching room of action as very wide inside school but limited outside. At school the school social worker can support the students with supportive counseling and adapted school attendance. One important task of the school social worker is to help the student to get in contact with other organizations for example, support groups for children. We also found that cooperation is an important part as the school social workers describe themselves as “the spider in the web” with the task of connecting and sharing knowledge with other personnel and organizations. The relation with the student is important to be able to support the students or guide them further. School social workers also regard school as a good place to detect and identify these students, but that it can be difficult to know who these students are. If a specific plan for working with students whose parents abuse alcohol or drugs would affect the school social workers work is difficult to say since none that we interviewed in this study had experience of one.

La homosexualidad masculina, durante la primera guerra fría, se articuló en la literatura norteamericana en torno a dos ejes: las asunciones heroicas de masculinidad (subordinadoras de masculinidades alternativas) y la frontera como sitio y mito.La masculinidad heroica, otrora hegemónica, y la homosexualidad de los personajes de ficción analizados se presentan unidas en una época donde el discurso médico, jurídico, publicitario y político quiso divorciarlas. Esa unión se produjo en uno de los sitios más masculinistas de la tradición norteamericana: la frontera, fuera real, simbólica o imaginaria. Estos personajes no consiguen alejarse de las posiciones patriarcales que los oprimen como homosexuales. Por tanto, esa masculinidad que tanto ansían abrazar queda lejos de ser garante de pleno desarrollo individual, excepto en la frontera categórica con la realidad. Estas ficciones, escritas en el umbral de la posmodernidad, suponen una apelación a los procesos desintegradores y liberalizadores de la misma. / Homosexuality was articulated around two ideas during the first part of the Cold War: heroic assumptions of masculinity -subordinators of alternative masculinities- and the frontier as place and myth. The heroic masculinity -long ago hegemonic- and the homosexuality of the fictional characters analysed go hand in hand in a time when medical, legal, political and mass-media discourses meant to separate them. We can see that union in one of the most man-dominated places in American tradition: the frontier, be it real, symbolic or imaginary. These characters cannot get away from the patriarchal positions which oppress them as homosexuals. Therefore, that masculinity they long to hold onto does not guarantee their integrity as human beings, except in the categorical frontier with reality itself. For these fictions, written at the threshold of postmodernity, appeal to its disintegrating and liberating processes.
