Benátské vlivy na dílo Boccaccia Bocaccina / Venetian influances on the Boccaccio Boccaccino's work

Jiráková, Hana January 2013 (has links)
(in English) The key theme of my thesis are venetian influences on the Boccaccio Boccaccino's work, who was one of the most important exponents of the Cremonese school of painters. Initially he worked in Genoa, Cremona and Milan and he was influenced by the painters as Leonardo, Bramantino and Boltraffio. In the years 1497-1500 Boccaccino is documented in Ferrara. In this period he executed so-called tondo Gronau, The Christ on the way to Calvary, The Virgin and Child, now in Boston, The Virgin and Child, now in Padua, The Adoration of the Shepherds, now in Naples and Dead Christ supported by an Angel. This works show the influence of Bramantino, umbrian school but also early influence of venetian art. In 1500 or 1501 he painted the altarpiece with Virgin and Child with Sts Peter, Michael, John the Baptist and John the Evangelist for the church of S. Giuliano in Venice. Models of this composition are the S. Cassiano altarpiece of Antonello da Messina and Virgin and Child with Saints which Giovanni Bellini executed for the church of S. Giobbe. Boccaccino's image in S.Giuliano is also inspired by Ercole de'Roberti and Lorenzo Costa. His colours show the influence of Giorgione. In 1506 is Boccaccino documented in Venice but also in Cremona. In the years 1500-1506 he stayed probably in Venice, but he...

Recycling of Glass Fiber Composites

Krishnamoorthi, Ramesh, Shinzhao, Zhang January 2012 (has links)
Composites are the materials which can be used for a wide variety of applications andproducts such as sports equipment, aerospace and marine because of light and stiffnessproperties. Composites are often made from thermoset resin with glass fibers. In this study, two ways of recycling composites were evaluated, which are microwavepyrolysed composites (MGC) and mechanical composites (GC). These glass fibers weregoing to be compounded with Polypropylene (PP) or Maleic Anhydride ModifiedPolypropylene (MAPP) and then injection moulded the sample by Micro-compounder.In order to get better adhesion to the polymer, a coating was added. The Neoxil 5682-polypropylene water emulsion was evaluated. The samples were characterized by Tensile Testing, Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA),Different Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) to find aoptimum combination of recycled glass fiber reinforced polymer.Microwave pyrolysis is a new research area. The glass fiber, polymer oil and gas can beobtained by heating the composite with microwaves to in an inert atmosphere. The polymeroil can be distillated and then evaluated with GC-MS; in order to obtain the chemicalcompositions. Keywords: Composites, grinded and microwave pyrolyse composites (MGC), grindedcomposites (GC), Polypropylene (PP), Maleic Anhydride Modified Polypropylene (MAPP),Micro-compounder, Tensile Testing, Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Different ScanningCalorimetry (DSC), and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), Microwave pyrolysis, polymer oil, distillation, GCMS Analysis. / Program: MSc in Resource Recovery - Sustainable Engineering

The Assyrian Church of the East : History and theology, concerning theological conflicts alongside the Syriac Orthodox Church and the Coptic Church (in contemporary Sweden).

Khoshaba, Rebecca January 2013 (has links)
The Purpose of this essay is to seek an answer to whether or not a conflict exists between priests of the Assyrian Church, the Syrian Orthodox Church and the Coptic Church in contemporary Swedish society, as well as to examine the environment between the three. The theological dissimilarities will be studied (from a historical standpoint), along with the interviewed participants views on the division in Christianity which will be presented also. I choose to interview six priests/chorbishops who live and work in Sweden, and the result was analyzed according to the senior professor of peace- and conflict, Peter Wallensteen’s theories on conflict and conflict resolution, where important issues are laid out to identify the core problem, and theological differences are discussed and compared from a union perspective. The result of the interviews illustrate a clear response that the participants experience a lack of functioning collaborations (from the Assyrians Church view, a collaboration is absent from the Syrian Orthodox Church and the Coptic Church, and vice versa) and most of the participants experience negative consequences from the divide in churches, as they strive for unity in Christianity as a whole. The theological differences between the churches proves not to be as significant as expected, the actual predicament lies partly in language-and phrase division along with a general rejection of each other’s interpretations. In many instances all the churches mean to express the same things, but it is the explanation of expressions that vary and cause misunderstandings. Consequently it is imperative for these churches to develop functional communication to (amongst other issues) solve their interpretations. If not to unify, then to develop an acceptance for each other and the different understandings.

Le mythe de la Vierge Noire de Montserrrat : formation et instrumentalisations (IXe-XXIe siècle) / The myth of the Montserrat Black Virgin : formation and implementation (IXe-XXIe century)

Imperiali-Decker, Odile 13 December 2013 (has links)
Thanks to the presence and implementation of the Mare de Déu, the abbey and the mountain of Montserrat became, in the course of the centuries, a religious symbol and a bastion of christianity, and, later on, the guardians of the catalan traditions, culture and identity. The religious founding myth, linked to Montserrat Virgin, is associated with Barcelona Count Guifré le Velu, so that religion and national identity have remained closely interlinked since the end of the Middle Ages. Numerous other legends were created at the same time, but the relationship between Catalan people and the Mare de Déu of Montserrat takes a special orientation and grows in a specific place. The universality of the myths enables a political and religious implementation of the marian image throughout the history of Catalonia, until nowadays. The XIXe century marks a major step in the implementation of the Moreneta and Her connection with the sense of identity. The Montserrat mountain becomes the symbol of the Catalan mother country and the Virgin of Montserrat is transformed into the Virgin of the mother country. The pro-Franco regime meant a deep change. At first, the Moreneta protectd the intellectual and cultural substitution carried out by the Montserrat Benedictines, then their political commitment became total. With the arrival of democracy, Catalonia has been recovering its past, and a new role has been emerging for the Mare de Déu of Montserrat.

L'Anti-Salomé, représentations de la féminité bienveillante au temps de la Décadence (1850-1920) / The Anti-Salome, representations of benevolent femininity in the Time of Decadence

Daouda, Marie Kawtar 12 December 2015 (has links)
At the crossroads between two centuries, Salome plays the part of a mandatory commonplace in art and literature. Nevertheless, next to the femme fatale and just as unavoidable, stands a fragile and benevolent form of feminity, molded in the cast of the fairytale princess and theGothic novel heroine, but inspired above all by the Virgin and Martyr of the edifying novel, be it antique or contemporary. As it might be discrete enough to become unreadable, this archetype's benevolence cannot be legitimated without a sacrifice. The religious meaning of the scapegoat remains just as obvious and as efficient in the novels' narrative structure, as well as in the detailsthrough which such characters are built. Marial, magdalenian and farylike characters must undergo the same destruction trial, through which their edifying meaning becomes a litteral building-up up meaning, by juxtaposing dissimilar and yet efficien aesthetic elements which turn the character into an allegory of artistic creation. By linking mid-19th century and the 1920es and by weaving a link between the most famous of Baudelaire's heirs and the ones whose name is just merging out of oblivion, the purpose of this study is to analyse how much these representations of benevolent femininity must be seen as a permanence, as a monument – or as a monumentum – where late-19th century will not only gaze a the death of a declining era, but concentrate all what will be used to theorize idealist artistic movements on the edge of the 20th century.

Cás, Lauro Edson da 24 August 2009 (has links)
Submitted by Marcelo Teixeira (mvteixeira@ucs.br) on 2014-05-28T17:29:23Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertacao Lauro Edson da Cas.pdf: 660533 bytes, checksum: 67162060ee2c9127d36245efbaca0ad2 (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2014-05-28T17:29:23Z (GMT). To do that, this study takes into consideration imprescindible issues such as History, Culture, Identity, Religiosity, and Mariology, Metaphors, Metonymies (Conceptual Metaphor Theory) and music. This dissertation is structured upon four chapters as follows: the first chapter links History and Culture, trying to revise some relevant points of the history of the Italian immigration on the RCI in the Northeast Region of our state, focusing on the importance of religion and/or faith since the beginning of that process. Therefore, there is the analysis about the Region, Identity and Religiosity. The second chapter highlights the Cancioneiro Popular and then, the Popular Oral Tradition. Also, it deepens the aspect of popular culture expressed by the songs and brings into evidence the characterization of the Marian Songs (origins, ritualism and devotion of the Italian immigrant). Moreover, it shows some aspects of the Marian devotion, so present and alive within the immigrant, because Mary is described as the mother who is always with her children (the people). The third chapter, in turn, focus on the analysis of aspects of the Conceptual Metaphor Theory , of the Symbolism, and also of the interpretation and research regarding the Virtues, aiming at analyzing the idealized woman´s portrait , or still, the representation of the mother Mary (Madonna). At last, presented in the fourth chapter are the Methodology and the Analysis of the Marian Songs, that is, the analysis of the corpus of songs: Beléssa di Mary, Mary Consolatrice and O Bela mia Speransa that motivate the study. This part follows the method of semantic analysis, based on George Lakoff (and collaborators) that permeates the study of the conceptual metaphors. There is the ethnographic position as well, where is emphasized the field work carried out to know opinions and perspectives of the people, going beyond the researcher´s analysis. After that, the synthesis is done with the obtained results by the research/study.

A deep visual analysis of Ludovico Carracci’s 1588 Madonna and Child, Angels, and Saints Francis, Dominic, Mary Magdalene and the Donor Cecilia Bargellini Boncompagni with an emphasis on the role of the patron, the significance of the locality, and the visual semiotics of the Virgin Mary’s gaze in prompting conversion in the repentant prostitutes of the Carmelite convertite convent associated with Ss. Filippo and Giacomo in Bologna, Italy. Including a commentary on contemporary social expectations of modest behavior and the painting’s deliberate incorporation of inappropriate female behavior towards a religious purpose. A discussion of uniquely Carmelite iconography, the use of Ignatian mental prayer in convents, and self-determination in imagery by a Bolognese aristocratic woman.
