Stäppvargens mask : En queerteoretisk undersökning av Hermann Hesses Der Steppenwolf

Ims Johansson, Jesper January 2007 (has links)

Valkyriornas identitetskris : Hårbyfigurinen och (om)tolkandet av genusambivalenta föremål / The Valkyries crisis of identity : The Hårbyfigurine and the (re)interpretation of gender ambiguous objects

Wihlborg, Julia January 2017 (has links)
In the year of 2012 a unique three dimensional figurine was found in Hårby, Denmark depicting what seems to be a woman holding a sword and a shield. Immediately it was defined as a Valkyrie, a female servant of the Viking god Odin. However, this is most likely a simplified interpretation since most female figurines from the Viking age is interpreted in this way. This thesis questions this interpretation, creating an identity crisis for the Valkyries due to their interpretation no longer being obvious and simple. Instead this thesis recognizes the gender ambiguous features of the Hårbyfigurine and tries to determine what it can tell about the perception of gender during the Viking Age. The purpose of this thesis is thus to present how gender theory, queer theory and a comparative method can be used to interpret a gender ambiguous object from the Viking Age. This is done based on the Hårbyfigurine and its different attributes and concludes that the arguments against that female figurines from the Viking Age depicts Valkyries are more numerous than the arguments that support this identification. Alternative interpretations for the figurine is therefore suggested. The thesis also shows that the interpretations gender theory, queer theory and comparative method can produce differs in its complexity and in how they handle the gender ambiguous qualities of the Hårbyfigurine. The conclusion drawn from this is that gender ambiguous objects cannot be interpreted in one single way but must be tackled with a variety of theories and methods to be able to tell something about the worldview of the people who lived in the Viking Age. The term gender ambiguous is also re-evaluated throughout the thesis and turns out to be an interpretation applied to objects based on a modern way of defining gender and sex and is not a trait of the object itself. This means that gender is not defined in the same way today as it was in the Viking Age. Gender is thus strongly connected to the ruling culture and not stable, but ever changing.

Andersson, Josefin January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to explore how well prepared educators at pre-schools are to receive children with another gender identity than their biological gender. The focus for the study lies on the discourses that exist in the pre-school regarding gender norms and how they become visible through the language educators use in the equal treatment plans, that are a part of the pre-schools value works, and in talks between educators. My research questions are: · How does pre-schools describe their work with children with another gender identity than their biological gender? · Which discourses regarding gender norms does the pre-schools equal treatment plans and group talks with educators show? To answer these questions, I have used the analyses of five equal treatment plans and two group talks. By analysing the equal treatment plans and the group talks with the four strategies for anti discrimatory education from Kumashiro, by letting the strategies make the discourses visible, I have come to the result that gender identity is made invisible in the pre-schools by the educators. The equal treatment plans contain descriptions of the discrimination grounds but not how the educators work with these in the daily workings with the children, and the educators describe gender instead of gender identity in the group talks. In my discussion and conclusion I reason about the causes for this in relation to previous research about norms around gender and gender identity in pre-schools.

Sex och samlevnad i dansundervisning : En queerteoretisk studie om danslärares arbete med sexualitet, kroppslighet, normativitet och genus i gymnasieskolor / Sex education in dance teachers work : A queer theoretical study about dance teachers work from a perspective of sexuality, body, normativity and gender

Nilsson, Nadja January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this study is to describe how sex eduacation, as an area of expertise, is made visible and constructed in dance teachers education in Swedish higher secondary school. The queer theory describes dance teachers’ work from a perspective of body, sexuality, gender and normativity. Using qualitative methods, leaving space for reflection and subjective experiences, four higher secondary school working dance teachers were interviewed. The findings include that sexual education as an area of expertise exists both consciously and unconsciously in dance education and the subject of dance. Furthermore, the informants do not understand sexuality as something important in teaching dance, in spite of that sexuality as a subject is present in the discussions. The result of the study proved that norms about sexuality, body and gender cooperate with the dance education and the dance teachers daily encounters with their students. The most important conclusion in the study was that dance teachers should have an understanding of how sexual education as an area of expertise can be expressed through dance teaching to be able to encounter students with an including education.

Sökes: lång man, liten kvinna : En studie om heterosexualitetens villkor i Gift vid första ögonkastet

Andersson Idén, Sara January 2019 (has links)
This bachelor thesis examines how terms of heterosexuality are negotiated within the Swedish reality show Gift vid första ögonkastet (Married at first sight), which is presented as a social experiment where strangers marry each other and go on to live together for four weeks. The couples are matched by four experts (two psychologists, one sexologist and one couple’s counsellor), and their roles as professionals and distributors of knowledge are the main focus of this study as it permeates how the terms are negotiated by the six participants. By applying queer theories such as the heterosexual matrix, performativity and temporality, the terms are identified as monogamy, height difference, desire, emotional labour, and equality. These are analysed using the three-dimensional model of critical discourse analysis, while also adopting its framework for ideological power to examine how the experts use their position to give way for their interpretations of relationships, love and gender. The findings conclude that the programme works within a discourse of gender equality to support its own eligibility and does not challenge heterosexual ideals but rather furthers them by offering the heteronormative idea of monogamous love as a solution to a supposed increase of loneliness.

Blid, Marika, Reimers, Nina January 2007 (has links)

This is a qualitative study about how young men in the age of 16-18 years can construct their masculinity. How do these young men describe a “real man”? What are their thoughts about themselves as adults? The purpose of this study includes a gender perspective in surroundings that cope with the sport football. To answer this study, six young men in the age of 16-18 years, whom are active football players in different levels, have been interviewed. The findings showed that the young men seemed to construct their masculinity in cooperation with the surroundings and the nearest family members seemed to have a very strong influence of the boy’s development to become a man. The results even indicated that the young men construct their masculinity by distancing themselves from what seems not to be masculine, for example male homosexuals.

Dahlrot, Mårten January 2010 (has links)

Hulth, Maria, Stigar, Madeleine January 2005 (has links)
