”Vi kanske glömde ställa frågan till killarna…”- Skolkurativt stöd till killar med självskadebeteende: Definition, problembild och förståelse / “Perhaps we forgot to ask boys the question…” – School counsellor support for boys who harm themselves: Definition, view of the issue and knowledge

Kalici, Rudina, Wimarsson, Evelyn January 2014 (has links)
The main purpose for this study was to examine how boys with destructive and self-harming behaviour are perceived and comprehended by school counsellors and literature. The study assessed how boys who harm themselves are defined both in practice and in theory by using a social constructivist point of view and a gender perspective. The study was divided in two parts concerning gathering knowledge of the matter. The authors, using a method called qualitative semi-structured interviews, interviewed nine school counsellors. To acquire scientific knowledge, the authors implemented a literature review and researched books and journal articles regarding boys who self-harm. An essential discovery is that boys, who self-harm, have a tendency to be overlooked and excluded from the issue. This is mainly depending on how these boys often express their feelings by acting out their emotions in a physical manner. It is socially acceptable for boys to be extroverted, to be louder and use bigger gestures while girls are introvert and emotional human beings. This is depending on social expectations on each gender and the qualities and behaviour that are associated with being either male or female.

”Det är absolut okej att gråta” : En intervjustudie om gymnasiekillars genusskapande med fokus på uttryck av empati, omtanke och sårbarhet

Ridzén, Lisa January 2016 (has links)
This study aims to investigate young boys’ construction of gender with particular focus on their expression of empathy, caring and vulnerability. Four focus groups and four in-depth interviews were carried out with a total of 12 senior high school students aged 16-18. Using thematic analysis, five themes were identified: boys care about and comfort each other; physical contact as an expression of friendship and caring; homophobia is the problem - not sexuality; crying and managing vulnerability; and gender fluidity. This analysis makes the complexity of gender construction visible: how boys, to greater or lesser extents, express both traditionally feminine- and masculine-coded expressions. All of the boys described situations where they felt empathy and expressed caring and vulnerability. Based on these results, a critique is developed: partly against a gender-binary understanding of gender construction, and partly against the categorisation of different (masculine) identities. To facilitate a better understanding of boys’ gender construction; in relation to feeling/expressing empathy, caring and vulnerability; a model was created to show the complexity of the relationship between traditionally feminine- and masculine-coded expressions in boys’ gender construction.

Innovation genom metoden Design Thinking - Nya sätt att läsa : En utvärderande studie av Läspodden från ZON 164 / Innovation through Design Thinking - New ways to read : An evaluative study of Läspodden from ZON 164

Wennström, Viktor, Rehn, Andreas January 2020 (has links)
Part 1 On behalf of the Stockholm City Cultural Administration and Kista Library, we have worked out new solutions to engage young guys in Kista in the library's daily activities. The target group of young guys between the ages of 13-19 was chosen as this group is mainly missing from the library today. Through focus groups and conversations with young people, we have gained insight into their wishes. These insights have been processed and led to four different concepts. We chose to work on two concepts that were further developed into the concept Zone 164. This includes our innovation, the reading pod, which enhances the reading experience and the exhibition archetypes. Both are developed solutions that meet young people's need for role models, to have a place to be, to feel community, and to have fun with their friends. Through the Zone 164 concept, we hope that Kista Library can challenge the notion of what reading and library activities are and become a place where young guys can feel more involved. Part 2 In order to continue the work with the reading pod, a more in-depth analysis was carried out to investigate whether the properties of the reading pod enhanced the reading experience or not and whether the reading pod promoted the reproduction of information. Two separate studies, quantitative and qualitative, were conducted on two groups of 33 and 10 persons. The results of the first study show that the use of the reading pod is perceived as positive and that the reading experience was considered to be enhanced. The results of the second study showed a weak positive relationship between the use of the reading pod and information retrieval, but no conclusions about causality can be drawn.

Dinosaurier, drakar, vapen, rymdskepp, aliens, eld, monster, farliga djur : Om att passa in i samhället eller hitta hem utanför. / Dinosaurs, dragons, weapons, spaceships, aliens, fire, monsters, dangerous animals : To fit into society or to find your home outside.

Pettersson, Mattias January 2019 (has links)
Dinosaurs, dragons, weapons, spaceships, aliens, fire, monsters, dangerous animals. Never interested me. That's why they interest me. Through intuitive sculpting, stories about my traumas, lusts and needs are formed, and about the society they exist in. I can see a tension towards the boy I never was/the man I never became, and a longing after to now approach him om my own terms. The sculptures are crooked, weak, broken, naive and weird, and in this becomes a vital space where that is allowed. The pieces are standing with the underdogs. In a movement upwards.
