Arkeologins visuella gestaltning i lokala dagstidningar / The Visual Formation of Archaeology in Local Newspapers

Marcus, Sjöman January 2017 (has links)
Archaeology is a popular subject which the public has the opportunity to meet in a variety of contexts. In addition to television documentaries, non-fiction and popular science magazines, archaeology has even played a significant role in the fictional world. Apart from these sources, you can also find archaeology in news reports where the newspapers or the tv-stations acts like mediators of archaeological news based on the archaeological work that is currently ongoing in our present time. Since it is now a demand on Swedish contract archaeology to communicate it's results, the news media often gets to play the role as the link between the archaeologists and the public. This paper is based on an analyse of archaeological news presented in local newspapers. The aim of the study was to investigate the visual mediation of archaeology to the reader. The results showed that the visual mediation of archaeological news is not only based on the selection of photos or illustrations. According to this survey, visual mediation can also be constructed using particular words that either describe the factual characteristics or words that alludes to the fictional world. Archaeological news that are channeled through local newspapers tend to reflect a narrow view of the archaeological discipline. The reason for this can probably be seen as a consequence of the relationship between archaeology and the society. In order to broaden the currently prevailing image of the archaeological discipline, this paper arguments for a much closer and more deliberate collaboration between local news media and archaeologists.

Den arkeologiska kommunikationen och den privilegierade arkeologen / The Archeaological Communication and the privileged archaeologist.

Rebecka, Engström January 2017 (has links)
Archaeology is a popular subject that is often depicted in popular media. Archaeology is also an academic field that contributes to national and individual identities. Therefor archaeologists conducting research need to be aware of the political and ethical implications their work may have. This essay presents and discuss previous research done about archaeologists and their communication efforts. Moreover, the essay also presents scientist communication goals and tries to discuss it in relation to Uppsala University’s and the department of Archaeology and Ancient History goals and guidelines. The discussion is based largely on a survey made by the author. Questions discussed are: who should write about archaeology? Would a better communication create a more “correct” use of history? Who has the right to write about archaeology? Is Uppsala University’s goals in line with how the scientist perceive and conduct their communication mission? The essay is based on previous research and a survey conducted by the author. The survey was sent to eight archaeology professors active at Campus Gotland, Uppsala university. Five responded to the survey. The method used in the essay is comparative literature analysis. The result of the survey is discussed in relation to Uppsala university and departments goals. The essay shows that archaeologists need more time to be able to conduct their communication goals more efficient and at a higher volume than present. The essay also states that archaeologists often have other work-related priorities than communication with the adjacent society.

Brun, Emmelie January 2019 (has links)
In this thesis I examine three cities that have been nominated as world heritage sites by UNESCO, and how these cities are understood and mediated by visitors. One of the research questions was also to see how these places has been affected by the nomination. I have visited Visby, Dubrovnik and Toruń to do this research. I wanted to find out why so many people choose to visit these places and how much the world heritage nomination was part of the decision to visit. This is done by examining how these cities are mediated by travel literature, tourist information in the form of brochures and other information, as well as interviews. These interviews were conducted both with tourists at these sites, but also with people that work with tourism or cultural heritage in some form. The method used besides interviews has been thick description as it is formulated by Clifford Geertz to describe and make sense of these places and to see how you would experience these places as a tourist. The researchers that has figured as a theoretical background include John Urry and Andrew Walsh. Urry describes how the tourist uses different gazes to see the world in different ways, and Walsh describes how a place that seems to be irreplaceable might in fact not be so irreplaceable, which applies on the examined places in this thesis. Josefina Syssner and Karim van Knippenberg together with Linde Egberts lays a groundwork for the understanding of different sorts of tourists, and what tools can be used is place marketing of these cities. In agreement with previous research I conclude that the primary attraction of these sites for the tourists is not their status as world heritage sites, and the reason that these sites are troubled with mass tourism lies elsewhere. The place itself is replaceable for the majority of the tourists, but not for the material heritage. A better dialogue is needed between the tourism and heritage sector, as well as local residents and politicians, to be able to counteract the negative effects of mass tourism, that is shown to wear on the material culture. The mediation needs to include a more widespread picture of the complex issues that concerns these heritage sites. In todays globalized and mobile world, the idea of world heritage sites becomes problematic, as this work has shown. This thesis is a two years master’s thesis in Museum and cultural heritage.

Christiansson, Teodor, Hall, Fanny January 2018 (has links)
Previous research shows that the lack of trust is one of the biggest challenges when it comes to successfully implement sharing economy. The aim of this study was to identify elements that contributes to an increase in trust towards sharing economy among the residents at the student housing Rönnen in Malmö. To be able to identify elements a focus group was conducted with students from the student housing. The results from the focus group laid the foundation for surveys that was distributed amongst the other residents at the student housing Rönnen. The theoretical foundation of the study was based on Chen, Lai and Lin’s (2014) trust model that emphasizes the importance of the trust in borrower. The results from the study shows that trust in intermediary is of more importance amongst the residents of the student housing Rönnen. The study’s results shows that an extern part should handle the process of borrowing and should execute contracts with personal details between all parties involved.

Strandh, Joakim January 2014 (has links)

The lawyer as a Real Estate Agent / Advokaten som fastighetsförmedlare

Hermansson, Olivia, Strandberg, Frida January 2016 (has links)
This thesis addresses the exception regarding lawyers in the Swedish fastighetsmäklarlagens §5 and aims to understand the background and meaning of the exception. Further the thesis addresses whether the main purpose of the estate agents act, the protection of consumers, is satisfying when a lawyer is practicing real estate agency. The study is based on the Swedish fastighetsmäklarlagen and aims to investigate the application of the act on both real estate agents and lawyers as they convey real estate. In order to clarify and understand the application of the law and to receive a view of the specific characteristics of each occupation, the occupational roles are investigated in detail and compared. The act distinguishes between conveying real estate professionally and conveying on single occasions. The demarcation of the concept determines whether the person conveying real estate is obliged to follow fastighetsmäklarlagen or not. A lawyer that is professionally conveying real estate should, according to Sveriges Advokatsamfund, practice the intermediary within the lawyer’s activity. Since professional ethics in practicing real estate agency and practicing law is incompatible the lawyer is obliged to make an assessment of what is professional intermediary within and outside the lawyer’s activities. The study points out that the boundary should be clarified in order for the lawyer to facilitate the assessment. The exception in the Swedish fastighetsmäklarlagen is important if a lawyer is professionally conveying real estate within the lawyer’s activity, but if the intermediary is solely within the lawyer’s general activity the exception has no function. A lawyer is suitable to pursue only those activities that are included within the scope of legal services, including intermediary corresponding to advocacy and not professional intermediary. For those situations that can be listed as professional intermediary, a real estate agent should be hired. Consideration whether the §5 should be changed or removed is required.

Ehrensvärd, Carolina, Nilsson, Josefin January 2023 (has links)
Each year, millions of small businesses are established, and individuals that engage in entrepreneurial activities continue to increase significantly. In order for small businesses to be able to grow, external financing is required. Previous research has primarily focused on how financial literacy impacts performance and enables access to finance. This study intends to develop Maxwell and Lévesque's (2014) reasoning about trustworthiness. This paper aims to investigate how entrepreneurs generate trust through their financial literacy in regard to capital contribution. The findings intend to develop a framework for how businesses can nurture trustful communication with the financier and increase their opportunity for financing. Subsequently, this paper has, in detail, explored how entrepreneurs in small businesses, in Sweden, have communicated their financial literacy in connection with capital contribution.   The qualitative methodological reasoning has, in extension of being interpretative, emanated from an inductive nature, to foster the respondent’s experience. The empirical data includes interviews with respondents consisting of 13 entrepreneurs from 11 small Swedish businesses. To fulfill the purpose of this paper, previous research in the field has been collected to, among other, conform the study's self-constructed analysis model which was united with qualitative thematic content analysis to enable a framework for trustful communication.   The result of this paper shows that in the process of conveying entrepreneurs' financial literacy, two main themes, based on time, was identified. Before the meeting and during the meeting with the financier. The majority of the entrepreneurs experience difficulties obtaining the necessary capital, and the relationship with the financier is critical for the company's growth. Before the meeting, the preparatory activities, such as the composition of the team and pitch deck, are of great importance to increase legitimacy and trustworthiness. During the meeting, the entrepreneur can instead focus on generating a successful presentation, a compelling story containing financial information, the business journey, and the team. The study also reveals the importance of having a financier’s orientation, meaning an understanding of the financier and their preferences. Based on this research, we provide guidance for small business entrepreneurs and contribute with a framework, facilitating the financing process by emphasizing how financial literacy can be conveyed. Furthermore, the result makes it possible to distinguish which trust behaviors are the most prevalent before and during the meeting with the financier. Lastly, the signaling theory is not considered sufficient to create an understanding of the financing decision.

Dutra Leivas, Ivonne January 2020 (has links)
The title of this licentiate thesis is: Urban contract archaeology, public outreach and schools. Beyond the horizons of history teaching.   The aim of my licentiate thesis is to investigate how educational programs for schools are implemented within the framework of contract archaeology. I study the underlying incentives that motivate public outreach within contract archaeology, who carries out the outreach and what impact educational programs have on schools. My research project also aims to explore how public outreach within contract archaeology can be organized to meet schools´ demand for knowledge and activities. With an interdisciplinary approach, taken from archaeology and educational sciences, the goal is to instigate a dialogue between the scientific community and contract archaeology, as well as between contract archaeology and schools. As a primary goal, midway into in my doctoral degree, I have chosen in this licentiate thesis to study the practices of public outreach on urban excavation sites in Sweden, specifically studying outreach practices towards schools. The research queries in the licentiate thesis are:   What are the purposes and objectives with public outreach in contract archaeology? What are the preconditions for working with public outreach in contract archaeology? How are the practices of public outreach aimed at schools conducted at urban excavation sites? How do educational programs within contract archaeology address the needs and goals of school education?   Based on these queries, I also discuss how contract archaeology in the future can make possible broader collaborations with schools. This serves as an introduction to how archaeo-didactics can evolve bringing together contract archaeology's goals and potential in an educational situation, with the needs and goals of school education.

Arkivupplevelser : Förmedling och tillgänglighet på Stockholms stadsarkivs föreläsningar / Archival experiences : Outreach and accessibility through lectures at Stockholm City Archives

Welin, Cornelia January 2022 (has links)
Archival work concerning outreach and accessibility is getting increasingly more attention. As a consequence the role of archives and archivists in society has, and continues to change. A common conception is that the roll of the archivist has transformed from a passive curator towards an active mediator of information. This thesis aims to investigate how that change affects archival outreach and public programming. The purpose of the study is to illustrate how archives can use public programming to emphasize outreach and access. The study is mainly focused on two series of lectures at Stockholm City Archives which are a part of the archive´s public programming. Observation is used as a method to study the lectures where I as an observer and participator has taking part of the lectures both physically at the archive as well as online. Postcustodial theory is used as a framework and starting point for the analysis. A postcustodial era emphasizes the need for archives to work with outreach, accessibility and to focus on people rather than records. The analysis is therefore focused on exploring if and how the lectures at Stockholm City Archives can work as a way to highlight the archive as a postcustodial archive. A postcustodial archive where access and outreach is an important part of how the archive communicates with society as well as a significant part of the archive´s self-conception. Archival experiences affects the way the lectures communicate to the people attending the lectures. The lectures works as a way for people to experience the archive both as a place as well as a way to experience the archival records. What kind of experience that is emphasized varies between the different lectures. Usually experience is associated with musems and not as commonly with archives. However, this study proposes that experience can play a key roll in shaping people´s idea of what an archive is. This is a two years master’s thesis in Archival Science.
