Kvinnan i brottsmål gällande grov kvinnofridskränkning : En normkritisk studie om hur kvinnan i brottsmål gällande grov kvinnofridskränkning framställs och bedöms i tingsrättsdomar / Woman in criminal cases in violation of a woman's integrity

Venturi, Almina, Niklasson, Emelie January 2018 (has links)
The construction of the woman exposed to violence and how she is produced in the Swedish judiciary is important to understand the view of men's violence against the woman. How the woman exposed to violence in today's context are produced by the judiciary in relation to political and media discussions are also affecting social work and its practice. The aim of the study is to, with a norm critical perspective, highlight how women represented and assessed in Swedish district court judgments. We want to investigate how the woman exposed to violence in close relationships is produced and judged in Swedish courts. The study is based on a qualitative research effort and a discourse analysis has been made of 12 district court judgments from different district courts in Sweden. Through a thematic analysis, three themes became clear: “the district court's perception of the credibility of women”, “the course of events based on women's perspectives” and “the district court's considerations in assessing the crime breach, coarse women's violence”. The chosen theoretical approach that has been used to create an understanding of our research problem is norm critical perspective and the concept of ideal crime victim. The results gave us the conclusion that in Swedish district courts there are norms about how women exposed to violence should behave.

ADHD i barnlitteraturen : Analys av fyra bilderböcker / ADHD in children's literature : Analysis of four picture books

Öhrnberg, Josefin January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine how the neuropsychiatric disability ADHD is portrayed in four different picture books aimed at children in preschool age. Through a text analytical perspective, a picture book analysis is performed. The paratext of the picture books are analyzed, which means everything about the main story of the books. Further, the characters are analyzed by person portrayal and symptoms of ADHD. The result shows that ADHD in general is portrayed in the same way, which gives a misleading picture of ADHD. Only one character differs from the other characters and shows traits which is in contrast with the other characters. In short, the result shows that only two different portrayals of ADHD are presented in the picture books. The girls and boys in the picture books differ because some character traits are merely portrayed by the girls. The interaction between other children is portrayed from a negative point of view in the boys, unlike the girls. The picture books do not allow for identification and understanding as there is no major variation in the portrayal of ADHD. This results in a stereotype and incorrect image of ADHD. More picture books depicting ADHD with greater variety addressed to children in preschool age are needed.

Diversity in organizations is a widely studied topic since the late 80's in the US and since the 2000s in Brazil. Most of these studies focus on managing Diversity, that is, on an instrumental perspective for organizations to maximize their results or to gain competitive advantage. Conversely, there are argumentative studies that seek to understand the actual impact or viability of Diversity initiatives in organizations. In this sense, we consider that it is valid to question what organizational discourse and practices related to Diversity represent with respect to their impact on the individual and, consequently, on society. In the present paper, through a Critical lens and using the concepts of one-dimensionality and repressive desublimation by Marcuse, we seek to understand the relationship between what organizations explicitly or implicitly pursue and determine as their goals in the Diversityrelated initiatives, and what individuals and minorities have to offer to or expect from such initiatives. We analyzed the theory that supports the concepts adopted by organizations in their initiatives on Diversity, as well as investigated the discourse and practices applied by some organizations. We found that: (i) while on the one hand it is undeniable that these organizational initiatives play a positive role, insofar as they might reduce social injustice and inequality, (ii) on the other hand, from a Critical perspective, these initiatives have a rhetorical character and do little or nothing to promote behavior that favors the diversity of ideas, for example. On the contrary, Diversity-related organizational practices or initiatives eventually represent the denial of diversity itself, narrowing the possibility of refusal and reinforcing one-dimensionality.

Iara Maria da Silva Moya 17 March 2016 (has links)
The objective of this thesis is to critically evaluate the discourse of global sustainability and its transference to the local level, within the organizations. A critical perspective is assumed; with the production of speech perceived as a link for living conditions , yet, based on the dynamic dialectic, the discourse can be a means of change and to promote new ways of living. As from the understanding of the discourse of sustainability as a result of globalization, Milton Santos is our inspiration for reasoning in the appraisal of the discourse of global sustainability. The author, reflecting on globalization considers the existence of three worlds in one: globalization as a fable; globalization as perversity; and the possibility of another globalization. Thereto, we understand that sustainability also involves three discourses in one. Sustainability is presented as a solution, a world\'s salvation, however we are faced with an enormous problem today, the damnation of the world. Consequence of globalization, sustainability is based in a perverse economic model, generator of the key issues of global unsustainability, specifically, on the one hand, global warming and climate changes, due to the high use of fossil fuels and the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) ;and on the other hand, an ecological footprint that demands one planet and a half, which indicates over-exploitation and deterioration on the ecosystemic services, as a support for life on the planet. The empirical research of this study shows that companies adopt the discourse of global sustainability, but do not recognize its\' responsibility in the impact on the planet. Nevertheless, it does not need to be in such a way. We can say that another world is possible, and choose to follow a new path, another sustainability. A sustainability that is in the dimension of people and the relationship with others; thereby, becomes present in the category of social rights and citizenship. The adoption of communication as a possible strategy of sustainability is what takes us from the discourse of global sustainability to the exercise of sustainability as local citizenship.

Halén, Helen, Rundlöf, Linnea January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to study three different children books using two preschool perspectives; the norm-critical perspective and the gender pedagogical perspective. The research questions focus on how the characters in the books can be described from the two respective perspectives.  The theoretical standpoints in this study are theories about gender and its associated conceptions and by a power and colours perspective. The method approach for this study is discourse analysis with a text and picture analysis based model as method.  This study’s result shows that the norm-critical and gender pedagogical perspective view the literary characters from different viewpoints. In the norm-critical perspective, the characters are generally not blamed for how they are. Instead the perspective aims to question the negative perceptions that can be associated to gender. The gender pedagogical perspective on the other hand, values and appreciates characters that are seen to break norms. The perspective also contains a desire of change the characters that do not break the norms. The result of the study also shows that there are discourses about expectations on girls and boys based on norms for gender, power and colour in the children’s books. Specifically, the analysis shows discourses in how girls are expected to be. As a conclusion it shows that one could look at the children’s books from different viewpoints with help from the two perspectives.

Griffin, Louise, Pinto Guillaume, Mimmi January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of the study is to shed light on teachers' awareness of and views on the choice of children's literature for the classroom for preschool class and grades 1–3, with a theoretical basis in a norm-critical gender perspective. The representation of gender in the children's literature available in the classroom and the representation of gender in two books that the teacher chooses during the interview will be analyzed. The empirical material consists of qualitative semi-structured interviews and two quantitative content analyzes of children's literature. The theoretical framework for the study is social constructivism, gender theory and feminist gender constructionism. The results show that the teachers to some extent choose to let students read and listen to norm-breaking literature, but the choice is made based on different perceptions of what norm-critical gender perspective entails. Three of the classrooms show a larger representation of male main characters and one of the classrooms shows a larger representation of female main characters in the classroom library. All teachers show to some extent an awareness of the uneven representation between female and male main characters. The results from the quantitative content analysis from a norm-critical gender perspective show that the books that the teachers chose include both norm-breaking and stereotypical main characters. The books with one main character include norm-breaking main characters, while the books with several main characters include both.

Högläsning i årskurs 3 - litterär normkritik : Diskursanalysens användbarhet inför framtida boksamtal / What do the book say? : Discourse analysis of books used for reading aloud in third grade Primary school

Holmstedt, Fredrika January 2022 (has links)
In teachers’ duty it is significant to create good conditions for student to become included. The schools value work is therefore not only important but shall permeate the whole education. This study, focus on value work during reading aloud, from books in grade three, primary school, with a norm-critical perspective.  To enable this, I have done a survey to map which books the teachers used for reading aloud in connection to value work. Then a norm-critical discourse analysis of the main character in the most popular books where done. The survey indicates that teachers work with value questions during aloud reading of books.  The discourse analysis show that norms and values were similar. The study implicates, the significant of wise and well-founded choices of books for value work, that enable all student to identify themselves with the main characters in the books. The result shows that the most popular books are not that multifaceted. The characters in these books do not represent the diversity in classroom.   The discourse analyse clarifies the implicit and explicit norms and values the books supports. A teacher can work with figure of thought, literal norm-critique, in book talks with the students.

Ett fett liv : En artikulering av viktordningen på bas av överviktiga människors erfarenheter / A Fat Life : An articulation of the weight order, based on fat people’s experiences

Ekman, Aimée January 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to develop a conceptual and theorizing understanding of circumstances and possibilities in fat people’s lives. Starting in interviews with fifteen fat Swedes, this research finally ended up as an articulation of processes and sub-processes within the weight order. The weight order is a system that orders all of us horizontally as underweight, normal weight or overweight. It also orders us vertically as super- or subordered depending on which weight category we belong to. This means that some are favoured while others are unfairly treated. The fact that fat people in Western cultures tend to be sub-ordered, oppressed and unfairly treated because of their body sizes and weights has already been shown in previous research, and this study does not treat that issue to any great extent. Instead it focuses on the ordering system that is evident in fat people’s statements and in previous research about fatness and overweight within the humanities and social sciences. By theorizing around weight order I wish to broaden the understanding of how subordination, oppression and unfair treatment of fat people are possible. The weight order is not a system for subordination of fat people. Those who dominate are also in some sense dominated. Subordination is rather an effect driven by the weight-ordered system. The weight order is a more inclusive conception than has been presented in this study. The theoretical treaties examine four processes, sub-processes and elements within the weight order. These include weight-ordering conditions, weightification, subsuming weightdoing, and downplaying weightification. Weight-ordering conditions deal with cultural and social circumstances that make the weight order possible. These conditions are processes that no one can fully escape. In the other processes it is only fat people’s positions and roles within the weight order that is in focus. Weightification consists of the processes that make body weight important in people’s lives. In this work weightification highlights different forms that make fat people experience and understand their overweight as negatively important in their lives. Subsuming weight-doings deals with social and cultural means that are intended to make fat people thin (-er). These also tend to make the  body weight negative for fat people. The three first processes treat the first part of the aim, fat people’s conditions. The second part of the aim, possibilities, is dealt with in the fourth and last process, downplaying weightification. Downplaying weightification can simply be described as including the opposite forces to weightification, and deals with how fat people can make their overweight less important.

Olsson, Sofia January 2018 (has links)
Uganda is known for its progressive refugee rights and policy framework towards South Sudanese refugees. The refugees are hosted in long term refugee settlements within host communities in northern Uganda. By using a rights and critical development perspective, this thesis aims to compare and critically review the legal protection of refugees and host communities’ the targeted area. The study identifies several challenges in realizing the aims of the strategic framework and discusses the legal protection of refugees and citizens. The discussion is based on theories from Hannah Arendt, Seyla Benhabib and Balakrishnan Rajagopal. The theories provide rights perspectives on citizenship and global human rights norms, as well as critical perspectives on development and how the human rights discourse can be exploited to the interests of the hegemonic world order. The study is based on a critical review of legislation, the policy framework, reports, and literature. The review has been supplemented with a limited field study in a refugee settlement in northern Uganda. Along with the field study, interviews were conducted with representatives from an aid organization that operates in the area. The results of this study show that refugees’ rights are generous and in line with global human rights norms. However, the review of the legal protection shows that all rights are not respected and the thesis highlight areas where duty bearers fail to maintain the protection. Interviews and field studies also show that integration between refugees and citizens is essential for the local legal protection. The thesis concludes that lack of local perspectives from rights holders in the refugee policy may prevent integration processes in northern Uganda.

The present study has a threefold aim: First, the theoretical aim is to give a contribution to refinement of the theory of dialogue based feminist ethics, concerning the understanding of judgment and narration within such an ethics.  The study also has an empirical aim, defined as to clarify what kind of knowledge, relevant to the moral judgment of an engaged outsider actor, can be received from dialogical interpretation and analysis of a limited selection of critically reflecting life stories. Third, a methodological aim is defined as to develop an approach to interpretation and analysis of reflecting life stories, which renders the storyteller visible as a reflecting moral subject, and makes the story accessible as a source of knowledge for the moral judgment of an engaged outsider actor. The thesis combines philosophical reflection and argumentation, with a narrative-hermeneutic method for interpretation of life stories, relating the two to each other in a hermeneutic process.  The theoretical reflection draws on Seyla Benhabibs theory of communicative ethics. A dialogue based model for moral justification and a likewise dialogue based model for political legitimacy are at the heart of this universalistic theory, although in combination with a conception of a narratively and hermeneutically constituted context sensitive moral judgment, based on Hannah Arendt’s concept “enlarged thought”. In the reflection, this model is related to other feminist theorizing within the tradition of dialogue based feminist ethics, as found in the works of Iris M. Young, Georgia Warnke and Shari Stone-Mediatore. The empirical study draws on three critically reflecting life stories from Israeli-Palestinian women activists for a just peace. The methodology for interpretation and analysis that is worked out combines dialogical interpretation as presented in Arthur W. Frank’s socio-narratology with a method for structural analysis derived from Shari Stone-Mediatores theory of storytelling as an expression of political resistance struggle. The results show that some stories drawing on marginalized experiences have a potential to stimulate further public debate through their capacity to enable a stereoscopic seeing, elucidating a tension between ideologically structured discourse and non-linguistic experience; implying that narrative-hermeneutic competence should be considered crucial for public debate.
