Håkanson, Ragnar January 2014 (has links)
The Church of Sweden had barely 6.5 million members in 2012. Just over 1% of the members visit a church service regularly every Sunday. The number of visitors in worship services has diminished continuously for a very long time. From 1990 to 2010, the annual number of visitors at the main worship services has decreased by 50% from 9 million to about 4.5 million. The service activities can still be maintained at the current level because the many passive members still pays their membership fee. According to the national documents from the Church of Sweden the Sunday service is the most important mission. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the mission to celebrate divine worship as the official church gives local parishes and how this is perceived by the employees and the elected officials of the local parish. What are the similarities, differences and tensions between the mandate given by the Church of Sweden at the national level and the way performers perceive this? The study was based on three main documents: The Church Order for Church of Sweden (Kyrkoordningen), The theological basic principles for preparations for a new book of Common Prayer (2006), and the Explanations for the Proposal of the Book of Common Prayer. Part 1. Finally I analyzed the documentation (2011-2012) for preparation of the parish structural regulation on Northern Gotland. From these documents I formed 26 claims about the service that was presented to the informants in the attitude survey. The claims were then grouped into eight tentative quality dimensions for a "right celebrated worship", namely practical issues, faith, didactics, emotions, ethics, fellowship, diaconal issues and tradition. The empirical study was made in seven parishes in the North of Gotland. The informants were 34 employees and 40 elected officials. To this survey I added ten semi-structured interviews with the same groups. This study has essentially a religious sociological frame of reference. The main contribution of theories has been given by Grace Davie, Per Pettersson, Ole Riis and Linda Woodhead.  Davie analyzes North European churches which has or has had any ties to the State and where the majority of the population belongs to the Church, but very few members makes use of church services. Davie has described this in terms like "belonging without believing" or “vicarious religion”. Pettersson describes the relationship between the Church and the many members in service theoretical terms. He measures the quality of what the Church of Sweden offers as a service organization and from a theoretical perspective of this service. Riis and Woodhead have mainly contributed to this study through their theories about religion and emotions. The result of the study was that the elected officials were slightly more satisfied with the service as it is performed today compared with the employees. Overall, it was a surprisingly unanimous group that shall plan and develop the service. The elected officials emphasize the importance of parish church more than the employees while matters of faith are more important to the employees. The national documents often points to the importance of tradition. This ambition was not found in any of the groups in the study.

Kihl, Charlie January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this study is to systematize and advance the Systemic-FunctionalLinguistic method of analysing Ergativity such as it has potential to be employedfor linguistically oriented Critical Discourse Analysis. By applying the termMetaphor of Ergativity, and distinguishing and defining a variety of suchMetaphors, different realizations of Ergativity can be identified and categorized. The method is subsequently adopted for an analysis of a newspaper material. Theanalysis reveals that Ergativity is realized differently depending on which Agent isassociated with an Ergative process, and that different Metaphors of Ergativity tendto be used with slightly different functions. Such differences may carry significancefor Critical Discourse Analyses, and the method could therefore be a usefuladdition to future linguistically oriented Critical Discourse Analyses.

"Min pil tränger djupt in i hans hals" : En systemisk-funktionell grammatisk analys ur ett genusperspektiv av Suzanne Collins ungdomsroman Hungerspelen (2012)

Kongo, Alma January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to study how grammatical constructions of the characters Katniss, Gale, Prim, Cinna, Rue, Peeta and Haytmich, from Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games (2012), contribute to their doing of gender. The thesis set to explore this using two research questions: How is Katniss and the six other characters presented grammatically and accordingly to systemic functional grammars transitivity system’s processes and participants? And, how can the grammatical analysis be interpreted from a gender perspective? By analysing six selected excerpts from the book with systemic functional grammars transitivity system’s processes and participants a grammatical analysis was done. The grammatical analysis was then interpreted from a gender perspective regarding the conceptions of what is considered as a doing of male or female gender behaviour. The result show that the grammatical constructions of Katniss and Peeta can be understood as a doing of both male and female gender. Futhermore, Gale’s and Haymitch’s constructions can be understood as a doing of male gender and Cinna’s, Rue’s and Prim’s constructions as a doing of female gender. Together these results show that the grammatical constructions in The Hunger Games (2012) affect the characters’ doing of gender and that their doing of gender does not have to reflect their sex.

Planning a digital transformation for a company with a process layout : A study conducted at voestalpine Precision Strip AB

Ahl, Elin, Nordberg, Nina January 2018 (has links)
Digitalization is an upcoming trend that divides the manufacturing industry of today. As an increasing number of companies chose to implement digitalization as a business strategy, some companies still struggle with implementing digitalization into their businesses. Previous research has developed digital transformation models, but has been admitted as too generic. This thesis used the most comprehensive transformation model as base and aimed to make it practically implementable for a manufacturing company with a process layout. To enable this, a case study was conducted on a steel-processing company with this layout design. This thesis had an inductive approach, where primary data were collected from one selected company through a pilot study and semi structured interviews, and secondary data were collected through a literature review. During the study, it was discovered that a company can benefit from using a customized guidance of how to implement digitalization, to optimally use digital opportunities. This thesis contributed with additional steps and extensions of the previous transformation model. The contribution consisted of the involvement of competency, creation of definition, identified digitalization trends relating to a SWOT analysis, additional phenomenon to take into consideration when analyzing future scenarios, additional questions to consider when analyzing impacted areas, creation of a digital business strategy, a comparison of impacted areas with previous projects, additional identified actions to fill the gap between current state and goals, and five identified criteria’s on how to prioritize these actions. This study extends current research with details and depth regarding a digital transformation model, and hence make it more practical. For future research, a case study testing the potential of the transformation model on a similar company should be conducted, and thereby improve the model further.

: A linguistic study of a non-profit organization’s positioning in press releases

Wiberg, Jenny January 2013 (has links)
This paper presents a linguistic study of a number of press releases issued by the organization Djurens Rätt. The study aims to examine in which way Djurens Rätt positions itself among other participants being described in their press releases. Djurens Rätt is a non-profit organization based on an ideological idea, which makes it an interesting target for investigating their approach towards other societal opera-tors in their press releases. The study is theoretically and methodologically mainly based on Halliday’s functional grammar, focusing on the ideational and experiential part of language use. In addition to these perspectives, positioning as a concept and Greimas’ actantial model are also essential to the study. The results show that Djurens Rätt uses several other societal operators in order to position themselves in the analyzed press releases. The organization appears to represent the animals in an objective and impartial way, for instance by refraining emotional expressions, occasionally describing the animals in statistical terms and mostly focusing on their opponent’s actions instead of the opponents themselves.

Gratis medlemskap! : A linguistic study of genre, discourse and construction of identity in the self-presentation of a customer club

Liedberg, Cecilia January 2016 (has links)
This linguistic study aims to find, highlight and discuss how different genre features, discourses and identities are constructed in text based self-presentations of a customer club. The purpose is to see how these presentations are produced in the quest to recruit, retain and promote loyal customers. The study involves eight companies, whose customer clubs has been presented textually on each company's website. To find important features in the texts, the systemic-functional grammar is applied, and through interpersonal- and ideation text analyzes, the genre features and discourses can be identified. Parallels are also drawn to the genre features connection and creation in works of identity. A comparison to the advertising genre is also made. Based on this, a discussion of what linguistic methods customer clubs use to create a desirable identity both in themselves and their members, becomes a central part in the analysis. The result shows that there is a clear structure, in which customers are offered exclusive benefits and a coveted identity in exchange for enrolling in the club. In the presentations, members play a passive role that effortlessly gets or earns all the listed benefits while the customer clubs on the other hand, are portrayed as an active and resourceful distributor. A sales discourse also emerges here, which contrasts with a hidden consumption discourse. Negative aspects, such as costs and conditions, are made invisible and the presentation mainly focuses on describing the positive experience and all the benefits of being a member of the customer club.

Kralli, Niki January 2012 (has links)
This bachelor's essay is about the stories and images that appear in the campaign Bo i Nyköping on the website boinykoping.nu during the campaign period 2011-2012. The aim is to examine how the municipality and citizens that appear in the campaign are described in the campaign texts and associated images. The methods applied in the linguistic analysis are an ideational and an interpersonal analysis, an attitude analysis within the method appraisal and a visual analysis of the ideational and interpersonal grammar of images. The results show that the citizens are described as active and the municipality as informative and knowing. The relationship between them is presented as dialogical. The aim is also to investigate the identities that the campaign offers the reader. This is based on the results of the linguistic analysis and the concept of the model reader. The campaign stories and the images provide a safe environment to grow up in and an economic security to the reader. The dialogic relationship that appears in the campaign between the municipality and the citizens show a presumptive good relationship between them.

Björk, Oscar January 2014 (has links)
This is a qualitative analysis that, based on systemic functional linguistics, or SFL, and genre theory, has aimed to study the genre pedagogical implications on written language as they occur in narrative stories and expositions whilst the model is introduced. Systemic functional linguistics is a linguistic theory that views the organisation of language as functional options for meaning; language is a set of resources to channel meaning through realisation. Genre theory elucidates the pragmatic and educational uses of SFL in the categorizing of language in configurations of meanings as they are set and understood in different cultures.  The purpose of the survey is to do so with focus on successful and less successful writers by attempting to answer two primal issues: How is development of written language in reference to the introduction of the genre pedagogical model visible in the studied texts? How does genre pedagogical teaching influence successful and less successful writers as visible in their writing with a certain purpose? To answer these issues the survey is based on narratives and expositions written by high school students who have been divided into two groups according to the purpose of the survey. One text in each genre has been written by the students before and after lessons based on the genre pedagogical learning wheel explaining the relevant genres. Thereafter the texts have been analysed, both in accordance to the staging of the relevant genres, but also with an inductive focus on the variations of the texts.  The results show that significant development of the texts, after the genre pedagogical lessons, is visible in both student groups in different ways. This demonstrates how the genre pedagogical approach to teaching language is a method that is able to lift students regardless of their prior merits.

Byrskog, Michael January 2017 (has links)
This study is about interoperability in the collection and transmission of glucose data and focuses on a new eHealth technology. This technology is part of the Internet of Things (IoT) and involves interoperability in systems with sensors applied to the human body. The purpose has been to investigate the interoperability of data collection and transmission of glucose data based on the interoperability issues, how interoperability is used, and the pros and cons of different types of interoperability. A case study with six semi-structured interviews has been conducted. The analysis of the interviews has been conducted using a theoretical framework dealing with IoT and interoperability as well as a two-part interoperability model. The first part of the model has been used to analyze the occurrence of basic, functional and semantic interoperability in the collection and transmission of glucose data. The second part of the model has been used to analyze the information systems based on different maturity levels for interoperability. When collecting glucose data, there are basic, functional and to some extent semantic interoperability. When transmitting glucose data, basic and functional interoperability occur. Basic interoperability dominates here, except for one case. When collecting glucose data, messages and notifications and the automatic adjustment of medication have been identified as benefits. In the case of transmitting glucose data, the fact that respondents do not need to bring their device to caregivers and, in one case, that several users can see the glucose data collected have been identified as benefits. Some clear disadvantages have not been identified. The second part of the interoperability model has resulted in twomaturation levels for the interoperability of transmitting glucose data,"distributed organization-bound" and "integrated national".

Functional testing of an Android application / Funktionell testning av en Androidapplikation

Bångerius, Sebastian, Fröberg, Felix January 2016 (has links)
Testing is an important step in the software development process in order to increase the reliability of the software. There are a number of different methods available to test software that use different approaches to find errors, all with different requirements and possible results. In this thesis we have performed a series of tests on our own mobile application developed for the Android platform. The thesis starts with a theory section in which most of the important terms for software testing are described. Afterwards our own application and test cases are presented. The results of our tests along with our experiences are reviewed and compared to existing studies and literature in the field of testing. The test cases have helped us find a number of faults in our source code that we had not found before. We have discovered that automated testing for Android is a field where there are a lot of good tools, although these are not often used in practice. We believe the app development process could be improved greatly by regularly putting the software through automated testing systems.
