”… utslussen från institution till samhälle, öppet samhälle där är det för mycket vakuum.” : En kvalitativ studie av samarbetet mellan Statens institutionsstyrelse och Socialtjänst / “… the transition from an institution to a society, an open society there it is too much vacuum.” : A qualitative study about interaction between The national board of institutional care and The social welfare board

Eldh, Sofia, Gill, Ida January 2010 (has links)
The intention of this study was to examine the interaction between authorities. More specifically it had a purpose to look at the ongoing cooperation between social workers and staff of special homes of closed institutional youth care. The sanction system for young offenders’ reform of 1999 where young people between the ages of 15-17 who have committed serious crimes, can be sentenced to secure institutional treatment instead of prison, aims to counteract the harm which can result from a stay in prison. The social welfare board in the young person´s local authority and the national board of institutional care shall cooperate during the youth’s placement at the special home of closed institutional youth care. This study was based on eight qualitative interviews with social workers chosen randomly from all over Sweden and staff members from different special homes of closed institutional youth care. To interpret the material we have been using theory of collaboration and cooperation of Danermark and Kullberg. We have also used earlier studies within the area. The study has resulted that the social welfare board are more satisfied with the corporation than the national board of institutional care are. The study also shows that there has been an improvement. Significant reasons for this result has proved to be; the two different employers with different mission statement who are cooperating, unclear guidelines and the lack of knowledge within in the social services. Today there’s an ongoing cooperation that needs to be developed.

Vi är alltid lite sena på bollen : En fallstudie om interventioner relateratgängkriminalitet bland unga i lokal kontext / We are not quite on time : A case study of interventions related gang crime among young people in a local context

Blom, Amanda, Barrington, Carl January 2023 (has links)
Summary: The organized youth crime that exists today is a relatively newsocial problem in most parts of our country. Younger people are drawn intothe criminal lifestyle and the phenomenon is an upgoing trend in Sweden, especially in ages between 15-20. In this study we wanted to see how oursociety responds to this phenomenon, in a local context. Our study is done ina municipality with 70 000+ inhabitants. We choose to use a case study as a research method. The empirical datacollected through interviews, with a total of eight respondents affiliated tothe phenomenon. The results given from the interviews shows that there is alack of clarity in how the phenomenon should be handled. We could see thatthe interventions of the problem are still under development. There aredifferent views on who carries what responsibility and which interventionsare most appropriate to these young kids. The schools approach seems to notmatch the target groups needs and their actions can be seen as one of thesocial mechanisms that is enabling the problem.

Ungdomar i kriminalitet - riskfaktorer som konstruerar ungdomars väg in till kriminalitet : En litteraturstudie som undersöker vilka riskfaktorer som möjligtvis leder till att ungdomar hamnar i kriminalitet, samt hur socialt arbete idag möter ungdomar i kriminalitet / Juvenile Delinquency- risk factors that pave the way for youths involvement in crime : A literature research that studies which risk factors are probable causes of juvenile delinquency and how social work interacts with juvenile delinquency

Hadi Aziz, Ilaf, Aqil Mohammed, Sara January 2024 (has links)
The aim of this study is to understand and identify the different risk factors that lead to juvenile delinquency and how social work interacts with juvenile delinquency. Juvenile delinquency is one of the main prominent discussions in Swedish society. There are a lot of youth today that fall victims to the evergrowing crime rates in Sweden. It is a dire situation that needs urgent care to stop the negative development in which more and more youth gets involved with crime. Other causes for worry are the opportunistic gang leaders that recruit juveniles to carry out their criminal agenda. As a result of the ongrowing rates of juvenile delinquency, politicians have presented notions on whether the department of social work should have a look-over and be adjusted to also include criminology as a means to prepare the social worker for the inevitable meeting with juvenile delinquency in their work.          The study results found different risk factors on individual, group and social levels that can indicate whether or not the youth develops antisocial problematic behaviors that can indicate a future debut in crime. The following risk factors are of great findings that can help identify early signs of juvenile delinquency: troubling childhood and trauma, psychological causes, sociobiological causes, gender, victimization, community and solidarity, attitudes and peer pressure, socioeconomic causes, sociodemographic causes and exclusion from society, To better help understand the findings of the study, attachment theory and labeling theory were used to analyze the results. There is limited research that showcases how social work interacts with risk factors for juvenile delinquency, yet the main protective factors against juvenile delinquency are family and school.              The method chosen in this study is a thorough analysis of different peer-reviewed articles and deep literature - study. The articles were found on the following sites: Psycinfo and Sociological Abstracts.

A Novel Approach to Youth Crime Prevention: Mindfulness Meditation Classes in South African Townships / A Novel Approach to Youth Crime Prevention : Mindfulness Meditation Classes in South African Townships

Kneip, Katharina January 2020 (has links)
Children growing up in poor areas with high crime rates are shown to easily get involved in violent actions and criminal gangs. In South Africa, despite considerable efforts to reduce youth delinquency, youth crime rates are still disturbingly high – specifically, in the townships of the Cape Flats. This paper points out an important aspect previously unaddressed by most youth crime prevention: the subconscious roots of youth crime. What if we could develop youth crime prevention programs that manage to impact the subconscious behavioral patterns of youth in high crime areas? This paper proposes a  promising and cost-effective approach that has great potential to affect multipe causes of crime: mindfulness meditation. Built upon newest findings in Neuroscience, this paper suggests that mindfulness meditation classes are associated with a reduction in aggressive behavior, a risk factor for youth crime, and an increase in self-efficacy, a protective factor. The impact of mindfulness classes at a high school in Khayelitsha, a poor and violent-stricken township of Cape Town, is analyzed. Self-reported aggression and self-efficacy are measured via a psychometric survey questionnaire created from two well-tested and validated scales. Regression analyses of 384 survey answers provided mixed results. Whilst novice meditators were not associated with higher self-efficacy and lower aggression, long-term meditators performed better in several dimensions of self-efficacy and aggression, yet no significant relationship was found. Further research specifically needs to investigate the moderating effect of age (a proxy for psychological development) on meditation. This study aims to bridge the gap between the outdated paradigms of youth crime prevention and ancient wisdom via ground-breaking new evidence from the field of Neuroscience. This study furthermore hopes to point policy makers toward developing new, integrative and sustainable approaches to youth crime prevention – approaches that give back agency to our youth. / <p>Anders Westholm har inget med betygssättningen att göra annat än i rent formellt hänseende (examinator). Det är han som rapporterar in och skriver under men i sak är det seminarieledaren som har beslutet i sin hand.
