Jоnssоn, Cаrіnа January 2004 (has links)

Malmsten, Majja January 2019 (has links)
The Jewish orientation "Haredi" in Israel is the most conservative group and believes that historical traditions are important to follow while waiving from modern society. In today's society, it is difficult to distance ourselves from modernization. This incuses the haredic communities in Israel and the inferior position of women. This study analyzes three contemporary media materials that illuminate the haredi woman's roles as well as her position to Halacha and modern developments. The research aims to answer to what kind of roles the haredi-woman are ascribed in the programs Shtisel, Israel talar and Extrema äktenskap.

A Lingering Radiance - a study of mysticism and kabbalah in Jewish liturgy in Stockholm from the 19th century and today

Frödeberg Karlin, Simon January 2021 (has links)
This study strives to chart the occurrence of mystic and kabbalistic influences inthe textual liturgic material of Jewish prayer books - siddurim - in Stockholm, during the 19th century as well as of today. Two prayer books, both focusing onthe prayer service for sabbath and festivals, were studied and compared to amaterial corresponding to a more traditionally inclined ashkenaz liturgy. Alongsidethis comparative method, the study made use of the hermeneutics of Hans-GeorgeGadamer in order to gain a more thorough understanding of the backgroundleading up to the selection of materials within the Swedish siddurim. This involveda broad historical research of Jewish mysticism, Jewish liturgy and Jewish life inSweden. Furthermore, the reception history theory of Gadamer and Hans-RobertJauss was employed to analyze the reception of mystic and kabbalistic influencesupon the Swedish prayer books, taking in account the ways in which religioustexts are viewed within a certain tradition, depending on theological agendas, historical context, and the intercommunion between these, especially taking thereformist wave of Judaism in the 19th century under consideration. The results andanalysis came to show that, although there had been an extensive purge of explicitkabbalistic materials in the 19th century, texts with very clear connotations tomerkavah mysticism still remained. The siddur in use today has also reintroducedkabbalistic material to the liturgy. Through the lens of reception history theory, mystic and/or kabbalistic influences are shown to be a part of Jewish liturgy inStockholm, sometimes understood as an integral part of a wider liturgic tradition, sometimes as a devotional - but not explicitly esoteric - addition to the prayerservice.

Judendom och judar i bibliografiska klassifikationssystem : En hermeneutisk studie om representation / Judaism and Jews in bibliographic classification systems : A hermeneutic study of representation

Vestin Cantell, Imani January 2023 (has links)
The aim of the study is to describe how Judaism and Jews are classified in the bibliographic classification systems that are used in Swedish libraries. The chosen systems are the Dewey Decimal Classification System (DDC), Classification System for Swedish Libraries (SAB) and the Jewish Library’s Classification system (The Stockholm System). Hermeneutics is the theoretical basis in combination with Hope A. Olson’s theory of the power to name and Broughton and Lomas model of the classification of religion. This is used to analyze the results of the study. The empirical material was gathered using a qualitative text study, which entailed a close reading with a coding schedule. The result was thematized into six categories and analyzed with the aforementioned theories. The DDC and SAB systems represent Jews as a minority and Judaism as a religion is given little space in the classification systems. Judaism and Jews are the norm in the Stockholm system and Jewish chronology and name variants are promoted. The DDC system presents Judaism and Jews with diversity, the Stockholm system less so and the SAB system contains no diversity.

"...där Adam betyder människa och Eva livgivande eller kvinna" : En genus- och jämställdhetsanalys om hur kvinnor och män framställs i religionerna judendom och islam i religionskunskapsböcker för mellanstadiet / "… where Adam means human and Eve woman" : A gender and equality analysis about how men and women are being portrayed in the religions Judaism and Islam in textbooks for educational studies in primary school

Björck, Emelie January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to with a gender perspective examine how often men and women are mentioned and how they are being portrayed in the religions Islam and Judaism in textbooks made for religious studies. To examine this a quantitative and a qualitative content analysis on three textbooks have been made and the following questions have been answered. How often are men and women being mentioned in the chapters about Islam and Judaism? Can the distribution be seen as even/equal between the genders? And how are women and men being portrayed in the chapters? Are they being portrayed and talked about in an equal way? Earlier studies have shown that it’s mostly men that are being mentioned and written about in both religious history and in textbooks made for religious studies. The religious texts are being interpreted by men and also written by and for men. This makes the man a kind of prototype for the religious person while the women have been and partly still is invisible in these contexts. The study concludes that men are being mentioned more often than women in the textbooks, which doesn’t compare with the goals set for a quantitative gender equality. It also concludes that the men are being portrayed as the active religious man while the women is being positioned beside the men, which makes the female religious practice partly invisible. To position the women beside the men is also to give them a subordinate and an outmoded role.

Is the kingdom of God present once more? : A comparison between the teaching of Jesus and his jewish tradition regarding the kingdom of God as present.

Berméus, Viktor January 2023 (has links)
This essay is about how five different exegetical researchers view the historical Jesus teaching about the kingdom of God as present and the possibility for it to be in continuity with his jewish tradition and contemporary context. Jesus announces that the kingdom of God is present and that this present reality is revealed through the miraculous deeds of Jesus. The idea of the kingdom of God as present is in some ways to be found in different texts and certain sects within Second Temple Judaism. Through their work on the historical Jesus the five exegetes shows that, even though the language and the symbol of the kingdom of God is similar, Jesus is in some ways doing something radically new and different in his use of the term “the kingdom of God.” By comparing certain logions with certain texts from Second Temple Judaism, this study shows that there is some continuity, but also that Jesus is presenting a new type of kingdom, a new type of presence and another kind of movement when presenting the kingdom of God as present.

The Living Messiah of Brooklyn : Dealing with the theological postmortem legacy of the Chabad movement’s last Rebbe and final messianic redeemer.

Sonnenschein, Hannes January 2016 (has links)
The Chassidic Chabad movement is one of Judaism’s most successful and influential groups interms of missionary presence around the world and distributed missionary material online.Chabad’s final Rebbe is still regarded by his followers to be the long-awaited final redeemerand Messiah, despite his clinical death in 1994. The aim of this study is to describe how theChabad-followers, through the movement’s publications, maintain the belief in the Rebbe asthe Jewish Messiah, and the theological interpretive tools utilized in order to ‘survive’ as aunited movement. The study indicates that Chabad is still a united and radical messianicmovement, wherein, internal theological mechanisms interpret the Rebbe as corporally alivebut concealed by illusion, and will soon be revealed or imminently resurrected to complete theredemption of the world. The study also discusses the movement’s extreme right-wingedpolitical stance in regards to the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, the movement’s Holocausttheology as means to further understand how the group ‘survived’ the cognitive dissonance thedeath of the Rebbe created and the theological similarities between Chabad and earlyChristianity. Nyckelord: NRR,

Lärande utan läraren : Internetkällors framställningar av judendomar / Teaching Without the Teacher : Depictions of Judaisms in Online Sources

Mårtensson, Christoffer January 2023 (has links)
As the digital age takes root, more and more students use the internet to acquire information for their studies. Common sources in Sweden are online encyclopedias like Wikipedia, SO-rummet and Nationalencyklopedin (NE). Seeing as these online encyclopedias can fill the role of teaching aids it is prudent to examine their contents to evaluate if they hold up to the standards established by the Swedish National Agency for Education (Skolverket). Focusing on the subject “religion” and the topic “Judaism”, this study evaluates the contents and framing used in the main articles about Judaism from both Swedish and English versions of the collaborative encyclopedia Wikipedia as well as the Swedish sources NE which is state sponsored and the commercial actor SO-rummet. Additionally this paper discusses how these sources compare with the central contents of the course Religionsvetenskap 1 (Religious Studies 1) for Swedish upper secondary school. The results show that the articles from NE and Swedish Wikipedia mostly state facts without elaborating and are more likely to give the reader a homogeneous picture of Judaism. SO-rummet is the most beginner friendly source while English Wikipedia is the most nuanced but perhaps most difficult source for students to comprehend. Generally, the sources fail to portray diversity within the tradition, with the exception being English Wikipedia. The sources that compare the best with the central contents for Religionsvetenskap 1 were in the following in descending order: English Wikipedia, SO-rummet, Swedish Wikipedia and lastly NE. This is problematic because previous studies show that students have greater faith in NE than they do in Wikipedia. It is worth keeping in mind however, that students are likely to use more than one source, especially if it is a group assignment. It is up to the teacher to recommend good sources, fill in the blanks and to guide the students with their own teaching.

Välsignad förbannelse : En retorisk analys av bibliskt material i Black Metallyrik

Jonsäll, Hans January 2015 (has links)
This bachelor thesis offers a rhetorical analysis of the album Maranatha by Swedish Black Metal artist Funeral Mist. Its main focus is on the intertextuality between the song "Blessed Curse" and the biblical book Deuteronomy, especially Deut 28 from which it has sampled a large portion of text. In the analysis I uncover the similarities and differences between the two texts in order to explain how the biblical fragments constitute new meanings when rearranged and taken out of their original context. The analysis concludes with relating the material to its new context i.e. the album Maranatha and the Black Metal scene by explaining other intertexts and references to the Bible and discussing which genre is best suited to describe the album as a whole. The results of the study show that the biblical quotations in the lyrics convey radically different messages and meanings compared to their original content in Deut 28. This in turn acknowledge how dependent linguistic symbols are on their context. I finish off my thesis with a few reflections on the moral and ethical implications of this use of biblical material concerning the anti-christian agenda supported by members of the Black Metal scene and specifically how Daniel Rostén of Funeral Mist view his own work and agenda.
