"Tredje världen" genom kameralinsen : En semiotisk bildanalys av fotografen Brent Stirtons bilder ifrån "Tredje världen" / The "Third world" through the camera lens : A semiotic analysis of photographer Brent Stirton´s photos from the "third world"

Strid, Emelie January 2009 (has links)

This paper is a semiotic analysis of nine images that are photographed in the "third world" by documentary photographer Brent Stirton. These images are analyzed on the basis of the three theoretical perspectives postcolonialism, intersectionality and postcolonial feminist criticism. The Analysis examine how men and women are represented in these pictures from the ”Third World”. As well as an attempt to understand what story these pictures tells the spectator and what kind of picture the spectator gets of the ”Third World” thorough these photographs in return.
/

Colombianer på bioduken : Representationen av tre Hollywoodproducerade actionfilmer / Colombians on the movie screen : The representation of Colombians in three Hollywood action movies

Abrahamsson, Daysury January 2009 (has links)

The purpose of the thesis was to analyse three action films; Collateral Damage from 2002; Clear and Present Danger from 1994; and Scarface from 1983, in order to see how Colombians are represented in these movies. The action genre comprises of different stereotypes where the hero and the villain are represented in conjunction to each other. The analysis is about the way the films content and form are used to uphold the representation of Colombians, but also the villain and the hero more generally.

Critical Discourse Analysis was used, as main method, and the concepts of denotation and connotation guided the analysis. . The main conclusion is that the three movies reproduced an already established collective stereotype of Latin Americans, stereotype that includes both Colombia and Colombians.
/

What is a good advergame?

Johansson, Jonas January 2009 (has links)

/
An advergame is a tool for the business of advertisment, a business which has during the past years of digital evolution gone through a lot of change. This change demands greater knowledge and a better understanding amongst both the creators and users of the games.

The purpose of the thesis was to initiate a framework for the creation of “good” advergames. For this the word “good” needed to be defined and understood so that also the discussion regarding games and advertising could improve.

The material which the thesis was based on originated from an advergame created during a two month long internship and from the design document that the digital agency North Kingdom released after their advergame, The Coke Zero Game.

With qualitative methods, results were collected and later on examined against a theoretic base of knowledge surrounding marketing, interaction- and game design, useability and common expressions used in the context of games. After the analysis the conclusions narrowed down into a framework of qualities that an advergame should strive for.

Ämnesövergripande arbete i matematik och textilslöjd : Ett praktiskt försök i skolår 6 / Integrated studies in mathematics and textile handicraft : A practical attempt in grade 6.

Simonsson, Karin January 2009 (has links)

The aim of this thesis is to try to make the mathematics content of textile handicraft visible. This is done through an attempt at integrated studies in the two subjects with 6th grade students.

The main question is: In what way may integrated studies in mathematics and textile handicraft lead to making the mathematics content of textile handicraft visible to the students? This question has been divided into three sub-questions: 1. What knowledge do students have on the order of the millimeter, centimeter, decimeter and meter units of length?, 2. In what situations do students mention knowledge of measuring as being of use?, and 3. To what extent do students see a connection between mathematics and textile handicraft before and after an attempt at integrated studies in mathematics and textile handicraft?

The methods of use in this thesis are questionnaires and interviews.

The theoretical frame is constituted by the sociocultural theory. This theory focuses on the idea that thinking is closely connected to our activities, which makes it a suitable basis for the thesis.

The results of the study show that overall the students’ knowledge of the order of the units of length in question is good. The students mention knowledge of measuring as being of use mostly in situations related to consumption, building and painting, and mathematics. No student mentions a connection between mathematics and textile handicraft in the questionnaires. However, the interviewees mentioned measuring as being of use in textile handicraft. The study gives no definite answer to the question of whether integrated studies can make the mathematics of textile handicraft visible. The fact that students in interview after integrated studies are able to discover a connection between the two subjects may indicate that the mathematics content of textile handicraft has been made visible.

Dans och rörelsehinder : En studie kring mental utveckling / Dance and motion- disabilities : A study of mental improvement

Johansson, Sara January 2008 (has links)

/
A motion- disability does not only restrict the physical prospects of the disabled child, but can also disable on a social level. Dance is a subject in school where you interact and are able to collaborate and socially improve. The question this paper investigates runs: Which importance may dancing in school have on motion- disabled pupils mental improvement?

The question at issue is answered partly by affected literature, partly by respondents.

It is concluded that dance, which focuses on the functional body, has the ability to make motion- disabled youths see what they are able to achieve, instead of focusing on the functional reduction. It is also clear that they can dance with normal functioned pupils and take part of the social solidarity, and also increase the learning ability and the proficiency level. The dance that gets its rightful, and in the curriculum mentioned, space in school has a lot to contribute with for the remaining school situation.

Hitta estetiken i språkundervisningen : Hur pedagoger kan arbetar med språket i grundskolans årskurs etta / Find the arts in the language teaching : How the pedagogue can work with the language in the junior schools first grade

Elefant Flygelholm, Lavinia January 2009 (has links)

Abstract

This examination is about how pedagogue can teach language in junior school first year with element of the arts of learning. The purpose of the examination is to take a piece of how pedagogues in two classes in junior school first grade can use the arts for a way of working with the language teaching. The observation of Swedish- and English language training in two classes have give a insight in how two teacher work with the language teaching in first grade. The class teachers who were interview received questions about the observation and what they think about language teaching. The questions were about their basic view on language teaching and arts of learning. The two teachers that was interview regarded a vary way of working was the best and that the arts of learning is useful in some consistency. On the observation I saw some insight of the arts of learning.
/

En bland 60 : Individuellt lärande i det sydafrikanska skolväsendet / One out of 60 : Individual learning in the South African school system

Forssander, Moa January 2010 (has links)

/
The purpose of this essay is to investigate whether or not the South African school systempredicates upon theories of individual learning. The investigation is carried out using threemethods, a textual analysis of the Curriculum, interviews with South African teachers andclassroom observations. The resulat is that there are some traits of individual learning in thecurriculum, in the answers of the teachers and in some of the education. In my conclusivediscussion I find that even if there are some traces of individual learning in the South Africanschool system it is not enough to say that the South African school system predicates upontheories of individual learning.

UPPFATTNINGAR OM UTEVISTELSE I FÖRSKOLAN : EN FENOMENOGRAFISK ANALYS / Opinions About Being Outdoor in Swedish Pre-Schools : A Phenomenographic analysis

Karlsson Junkka, Matti January 2010 (has links)

In this examination paper I’m using the qualitative method: phenomenographic analysis to present twenty educated and working pre-school teachers opinions about being outdoors in Swedish pre-school. The purpose is to describe the variation between different pre-school teachers’ opinions, not to focus on wrong or right. The paper starts with a review over the opinions presented by the literature on the subject. After that I present the category system I’ve created based on the answers I’ve got from the interviews with the pre-school teachers. The category system have four main headlines: Physical and psychological records of being outdoors, the outdoor environment, being outdoors and the outdoor environment in the Child’s perspective and being outdoors in the pedagogues perspective. In The ending chapter “Discussion/Analysis” I compare the literature with the pre-school teachers’ opinions and make the conclusions that good conditions for a qualitative time outdoors are: attending pedagogues manage to see possibilities in the outdoor environment, be conscious about what you are doing and why, never stress and have patience. Overall it doesn’t matter if you are indoors or outdoors you must always plan, have commitment and be full of happiness.
/

The Language of Textiles : Description and Judgement on Textile Pattern Composition / Det Textila Språket : Beskrivning och bedömning av textila mönster

Homlong, Siri January 2006 (has links)

The present study concerns ways to describe, judge and discuss aesthetic qualities of designed textile patterns. Specific aims were to study how colours and compositions used in Old Amish Quilts can be systematically described, to study how simple and complex patterns in printed textile fabrics are perceived and expressed verbally and to study judgements, concepts and values in relation to designed textile patterns as expressed by schoolchildren, consumers, teachers of textile handicraft and designers.

The study design is qualitative in order to collect concepts used by subjects from different user groups when describing textile patterns and of the reasons for their judgements of the designed patterns. A modified Repertory Grid Method was used. Describing colour design and composition using graphic models was also attempted.

The experience of aesthetic qualities in designed patterns is complex and not possible to describe using clear-cut concepts. Descriptions and choice of words are part of different language games outside the field of textile design and their contents are found in a dynamic interplay between a number of experiential contexts. The dominant inner contexts of individuals, basic perceptual patterns of apprehension, direct experiences of the surrounding world, and influences from the cultural context all give different and complex structures of attention. Different structures of attention lead to different perceptual choices and different descriptions, judgements, notions and values concerning designed printed patterns.

The present study shows that subjects make their judgements on the basis of formal, functional, cultural and emotional contents. These content categories are related to the multiple contexts of different dimensions of experience. For judgement and communication in the process of design and in design education, mutual understanding calls not only for concepts and notions in the field of design, but also consideration of conditions of experience and communication in life.
