Long, Long Time : An Examination of Identity and Status Connected to Scenography in the Tv-Series The Last of Us (2023) / : En undersökning av identitet och status kopplat till scenografi i tv-serien The Last of Us (2023)

Jonsson, Anton January 2023 (has links)
This study examines cinematic storytelling by looking at screenshots from episode three of the tv-series The Last of Us (2023). The purpose is to illustrate how scenography in the chosen material can represent meaningful concepts about the main character's identity and statues. The study examines how scenography in the character Bill's home can be seen as identity markers based on Pierre Bourdieu's capital theory. The study further uses Petter Skult to contextualize the world and zombie genre in which the tv-series takes place. Through a qualitative visual analysis the screenshots are described and analyzed in relation to Bourdieu's ideas about economic and cultural capital. The results suggest that Bill's status has increased both in terms of economic and cultural capital in the context of a unraveling zombie apocalypse. Scenography in Bill’s home further suggests his contradictive identity as both tough survivalist and cultural connoisseur. His home in an idyllic small-town neighborhood further suggests his identity as a symbol for American patriotism. The result is lastly followed by a discussion about class and xenophobia. / This media production is a fictional marketing campaign for the city of Malmö which uses visual communication with the aim to encourage young people to send in citizen proposals.

An exploratory self-study of playful interpretation as a way of improving stage presence and singing ability

Karlsson, Eleonor January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of this independent project is to get a greater insight in, and understanding of, my own process of learning and interpret songs, as well as develop it towards greater freedom in my musical expression. I examine literature on subjects such as Konstantin Stanislavskij’s methods as well as literature regarding learning process, interpretation, ability to imagine and physical communication. After reading, I explore the methods and tools when working with my own repertoire. The process is documented through a diary and video recordings from practicing. The results show that a detailed inner scenography increases my ability to stay present in the music and sing with more expression. I also experience that the singing technique comes to me more naturally and it becomes easier to sing.

Crafty Crib : Drömmen om ett förstahandskontrakt

Clarén, Storm Philippa January 2020 (has links)

The Performance of Like-minded People

Häggbom, Ros-Marie January 2020 (has links)

Kulturskolan Maskinen / The Machine – A Communal Culture School

Nilson, Teodor January 2015 (has links)
The architectural project aims to make the activity of the Communal Culture School visible in the Älvsjö area in Stockholm. The school as a place is a platform for meetings and cultural expression. The design of the building touches both old as well as later architecture and creates a relationship between them that reflects the ambiguous identity of Älvsjö. The school building creates an imaginative sphere for learning and for play, which claims child culture's inviolable right to space in the city.

Home is where her horror is : a call for knowledge about domestic violence in the field of architecture and in society

Gillinger, Jenna January 2023 (has links)
The most dangerous place for a woman is her own home. More than 50 cases of abuse against women a day are reported in Sweden, and on average a man in Sweden kills a woman he has or has had a relationship with every three weeks. A social and human commitment can be the difference between life and death. It is time to direct focus and responsibility towards the men, you, me and society. Architects and interior architects have long had knowledge of how to design safe public spaces in outdoor environments. But the fact is that only 15% of all reported rapes are committed in outdoor environments. The remaining 85% is done in her own home by a person she has a relationship with or a relative. The field of Architecture and Interior Design should have knowledge of domestic violence and take this into account in their practice. "Home is where her horror is" is based on the fact that the most dangerous place for a woman is her own home, this is further explored and shaped in three statements: -Line 1: The field of Architecture, Interior Architecture and design needs knowledge of domestic violence and take this into account in their practice. -Line 2: In collaboration with material from the organisation "Huskurage", design and create a mobile information site in an apartment building to promote conversations and spontaneous meetings between neighbours, raise awareness about domestic violence and introduce Huskurage. -Line 3: Shape a home from the abused woman's perspective on a 1:1 scale during Konstfack's spring exhibition 2023. To raise awareness and inform the visitor through art, spatial design, design, film and performance with the ambition of evoking reaction that leads to action.

An actual house

Gaard, Trina January 2022 (has links)
When having travelled one returns to, or revisits, a place. Unaware of the personal transformation that has occurred, one realizes the change when confronted with familiar things. In a desire to understand what objects and places mean to people, the project An actual house looks at three objects from a childhood home: a staircase, a window and a curtain and their relation to memory and autonomic consciousness. It reflects upon the importance of memory and imagination in art, architecture, and design - memory as well as imagination as a tool to create a different future. This art-practice-based work uses a hybrid form method. Exploring phenomenology trough writing, creating objects from memory and conveying the work to a perceptible form in a curated exhibition. It wants to contribute to a discussion on the relation between humans, objects and places in time.

Re-Story : The O.T.M.I* project*O.T.M.I = Obsolete Technical Mechanical Item

Kapadia, Ninna January 2015 (has links)
The core question in this master thesis is: What happens to the essence of an object when it becomes out of date and is no longer in use? I am addressing the sense of dignity in once meticulously designed technical/mechanical items that now has become obsolete. The intention has been to investigate how to give new meaning to obsolete items and find new eligibility for their existence.  The investigation was conducted through the development of a method: collection, analysis, deconstruction, investigation and resurrection of a number of O.T.M.I. (Obsolete Technical Mechanical Items).   The resurrection process consisted of the (re-)writing of the objects’ narratives. These stories along with the objects’ parts, spaces and sounds created a frame for a scenography, a soundtrack and characters to act in a film to tell the story. As interior designers we have the opportunity to transform space and fill it with stories. Imagination is an important tool: We benefit from having the ability to imagine, for instance, how different surfaces will reflect sound and light. Our imagination is highly visual. So I have transformed my imaginary world of Obsolete Technical Mechanical Items to visual and audial elements that support the content and values of a story through researching the objects, finding how to clarify and support the story. The Re-Story.

Whispering Bodies : The Textual Brain

Bertling Wiik, Siri January 2021 (has links)
During this project I’ve been exploring how we can work with things within art to change our way of relating to ourselves, other humans and our surrounding. I want to see if finding inner spaces within us can make us feel more connected to our external surrounding. I want to share the feeling of being connected with things through incorporating them inside our own bodies. I have therefore been leading participants on introspective journeys where they found rooms inside of their bodies. After that I have been translating these inner spaces into immersive performative Scenography, where visitors have been invited to engage with the things in the space with all their senses. All the bodies, things as well as visitors, have been given the possibility to interact on their own terms. I wanted to see what kind of relating this room of Whispering Bodies; the Immersive Scenography inspired and invited to, and I wished for it to be a tactile bonding with a sense of heightened empathy and listening.  This text-based piece, called Whispering Bodies: The Textual Brain, is created out of a curiosity in how a reflection based in the written language can exist as a complementary work for a physical and tactile space, in this case Whispering Bodies: The Immersive Scenography. I wanted to create an experience that would have traces of the room filled with different bodies. I have been experimenting with how to use different mediums to make this happen, and this piece will be a combination of meditation, video, drawings, audio and text, and the text itself will be jumping in between genres. I want to invite you to take part in this journey with me. It will be dry, it will be poetic, it will be telling you what happened, both the factual and the fictional.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me about the work.
