Formáty lži / Formats of LyingČepelka, Michal Unknown Date (has links)
I perceive the thesis as a result of long-term considerations of forms of lies and manipulation and their importance in today's society. Based on the research of these forms and the environments in which they occur, I try to detect the effect of the lie on both individuals and society. And with the use of multiple media that capture this exploration process.

Att förhandla sanning : En kulturanalytisk studie av sanningsstriderna i klimatdebattenSvanström, Emelie January 2020 (has links)
The essay To negotiate truth is a cultural analytical study of the boundary work that takes place in the comment sections, more specifically in relations to the climate change debate and Greta Thunberg’s climate activism. This paper deals with empirical material in the form of comments obtained from the Swedish newspapers Aftonbladet’s and Expressen’s comment field on Facebook. The data-gathering method used for this paper is digital ethnography. This study aims to create an understanding of how argumentation is presented in open social arenas such as Expressen and Aftonbladet's comments field. The purpose of the study has been to show how the contested claims and facts are legitimized and negotiated in the comment fields. The theoretical framework has consisted of discourse theory and Boundary objects theory. The questions to be answered in the study is: In what way is truth constructed in the debate? How are the various claims of truth legitimized? In what way are facts and science used in the legitimization of the different claims of truths? The analysis shows that truth is constructed in many different ways, partly through what i choose to call denial and distrust discourse. The analysis also showed how climate research and the climate can be seen as a boundary object and be used to stabilize the denial discourse further. The result also showed that scientific evidence can be used in a variety of ways in the legitimization of the different claims of truth. On the one hand, there is a demand for more nuanced research to be presented in the media, this creates an image that there are two sides of climate science that are of equal importance. The analysis also showed how mistrust and doubt against established media, political processes and science in general can be used in the legitimization of various statements of truth. I also claim that Greta can be seen as a boundary object in the ongoing negotiation. The use of religious metaphors also proves to be of great importance in trying to undermine the climate issue and climate research in general.

[pt] CREDIBILIDADE E JORNALISMO: QUESTÕES SOBRE A INFLUÊNCIA DO FACT-CHECKING NA AUTORIDADE JORNALÍSTICA NO BRASIL / [en] CREDIBILITY AND JOURNALISM: ISSUES ABOUT THE INFLUENCE OF FACT-CHECKING ON JOURNALISTIC AUTHORITY IN BRAZILANA CRISTINA COSTA DE LIMA E SILVA 14 November 2023 (has links)
partem as reflexões trazidas nesta tese.
falsos.
compreende o dia do início da campanha eleitoral e o dia da votação do segundo
turno das eleições. / [en] Credibility is being called into question in a global way, which threatens the
authority of institutions in general, including the press, in the so-called post-truth
era;. Due to its disregard for truth, the current times have been marked by the
circulation of fake news. It is also a time known as the post-factual era. The same
networked society driven by the internet with promises of a more horizontal future
has witnessed the rise of algorithmic platformization, the disqualification of the
press, and the culture of misinformation. It is from this extremely hostile and
vulnerable environment for democratic institutions that the reflections brought in
this thesis arise. The level of misinformation is such that today there is a
proliferation of fact-checking agencies and services in various countries. In
principle, fact-checking exists to determine whether speeches are true or false.
However, these agencies and services have gained visibility and become more
influential in the journalistic environment. The shift of fact-checking to external
environments outside newsrooms or to specific spaces within news outlets carries
with it an assumption that one of the most important functions of journalism, factchecking, can be displaced. This function contributes to the construction of
credibility and, consequently, functions as the pillar of journalistic authority. Thus,
the general objective here was to understand the place occupied by fact-checking
agencies in the Brazilian journalism universe and the journalistic authority they
have claimed. A central issue is how fact-checking work influences journalistic
credibility/authority and whether there is - and to what extent – a compromise of
this authority through the market establishment of fact-checking services. To this
end, we analyzed the raw content of 677 posts about the presidential elections in
Brazil made by the Lupa and Aos Fatos agencies and the Fato ou Fake, Estadão
Verifica, and Folha Informações services in the period between August 16 and
October 30, 2022, which includes the day campaign started and the day of the
second round of voting in the elections.

Populism and the refugee crisis - The communication of the Hungarian government on the European refugee crisis in 2015-2016Marton, Zsolt January 2017 (has links)
The European refugee crisis sparked many debates within the European Union member states, as European countries had different ideas about handling the situation. As a result to the long negotiations without decisions, the crisis escalated, resulting in anti-immigrant, populist parties to emerge with big support among European citizens. The Hungarian government was among the first countries in the European Union to capitalise upon the refugee crisis by politicising the question of immigration, therefore, several anti-immigration campaigns were initiated in Hungary during 2015 and 2016.By analysing and comparing two campaign materials (one from 2015 and one from 2016) via the three-dimensional critical discourse analysis model of Fairclough, the thesis sought to identify the milestones and the rhetoric shifts of the communication of the Hungarian government that changed the public discourse in Hungary, as well as to point out similarities with populist practices in the anti-immigrant campaigns. The empirical analysis was carried out in the theoretical framework of discourse and power, populism, post-factuality, and agenda setting and framing. The text argued for a rhetorical shift between 2015 and 2016, in which the target of the governmental communication changed from refugees towards the European Union and its immigration policy. The thesis found evidence for the usage of populist practices that vastly affected the way Hungarians approach the question of immigration. It is hoped that this thesis could highlight the imbalance in the power relations of the public discourse in Hungary, and the findings could contribute to further analyses of populist campaigns in the period of the European refugee crisis.

Речевая экспликация феномена постправды : магистерская диссертация / Speech explication of the post-truth phenomenonМалахов, Н. С., Malakhov, N. S. January 2023 (has links)
The digitalization of modern society has a significant impact on the communication of individuals. When creating a message, showiness and influencing function turn out to be more relevant than the truth of the transmitted information. In the Internet space, a relativistic attitude towards objective facts is manifested. This state of society, when reality and objective facts theorize their significance, is the result of post-truth. Fake-news is a textual explication of post-truth. Currently, post-truth is the subject of interdisciplinary research. In this work, both theoretical and practical research is carried out. The theoretical chapter reviews post-truth research in the humanities and the historical context of post-truth. The theoretical chapter concludes with a rhetorical examination of the ways in which fake-news is used in the text. The practical chapter is a linguo-rhetorical analysis of fake news. In this work, previously unstudied texts are introduced.

[EN] When I decided to dedicate myself academically to the world of communication, I began to be aware of the power that the field of information and communication has at different levels. At that time, technologies were still to emerge in their great evolution and revolution that we are living today, but we were not yet aware, at least not fully, of the results certain less rigorous information can cause, even more so, due to its wide dissemination and high possibilities of transmission at high speed today.
This thesis analyzes the evolution and revolution that the new information and communication technologies have brought to the media and how they have changed the paradigm. It analyzes how citizens change their role from being passive agents who receive information to being active and with responsibilities as they can also be creators and transmitters of information.
An analysis is made of the techniques and strategies used by media professionals in the treatment of facts and data in order to transform them into information and how this treatment is often used with hidden interests to favor political, economic or social opinion objectives.
This thesis concludes with a proposal for a teaching curriculum in order to carry out an education in information and communication that helps us to facilitate learning towards a future citizenry that possesses critical thinking in the face of any type of information received from any type of media and information transmission. / Climent Ferrer, JJ. Collaborating in the electric age: [onto]Riffological experiments in posthumanizing education and theorizing a machinic arts-based researchStevens, Shannon Rae 05 February 2021 (has links)
Collaborating in the Electric Age: [onto]Riffological Experiments in Posthumanizing
Education and Theorizing a Machinic Arts-Based Research is a study about locating
opportunities and entry points for introducing consideration of the nonhuman and posthuman to pedagogical perspectives that are traditionally concerned with human beings and epistemological subjects. The research, herein, engages doings in collaborative effort, during conditions of unprecedented interconnectedness facilitated by the electric age. Steeped in a environment thus created by technologies’ immense ubiquity and influence, this collaboration endeavours to recognize their full research participation, alongside that of humans.
This research presents collaboratively conducted, published inquiries that have been coauthored by myself and fellow doctoral candidate Richard Wainwright. Each facilitates, then attempts to articulate ways to decentre the human in educational contexts, beginning with our own human perspectives. As exercises in broadening our considerations of the life forms, matter, and nonhuman entities that surround humanity, this research prompts us to recognize much more than what humanity typically acknowledges as existing, given the anthropocentric frameworks it has constructed. We reorientate the nature of these relationships—posthumanizing them—and in doing so, disrupt our own thinking to work something different than our circumstances have hitherto informed us to consider. We have co-developed a study and conducted research in collaboration with human and nonhuman research participants.Five nationally and internationally published co-authored journal articles, a book chapter, and five intermezzos (short “observational” pieces) comprise this study that explores collaboration and recombinatoriality during “the electric age” (McLuhan, 1969, 10:05).
Recognizing humanity’s increasingly inextricable relationships with technologies, this
collaboratively conducted study draws into creative assemblage Gilles Deleuze and Félix
Guattari’s philosophical concepts; new materialism as cultural theory; the prescient observations
and predictions of Marshall McLuhan and a media studies curriculum he co-developed over forty
years ago; arts-based research; museum exhibitions; features of music production such as
sampling, mashup, remix, and turntabling; among many other notes and tones. A conceptually
developed riff mobilizes our inquiries as “plug in and play,” while its academic study is theorized
as [onto]Riffology. Ontological shifts beget a machinic arts-based research (MABR) that
develops a posthuman critical pedagogy inspired by Negri and Guattari (2010). Collaborating in
the Electric Age: [onto]Riffological Experiments in Posthumanizing Education and Theorizing a
Machinic Arts-Based Research celebrates collaborativity, discovery, and learning during the
electric age. / Graduate / 2023-01-07

The Shades of Styles : A human search for words communicating all aspects of styles.Hellerslien, Erlend January 2021 (has links)
This research is an investigative attempt on the concept of style´s development to potentially noticing our diverse human history on viewing the aspect of styles, starting (in the part one) by looking into the problem of the development of styles and its characteristic of representation in terms of its messages, realties, semiotics, and human collaboration. Leading towards the human search in seeing style more commonly neutral for a more meaningful dialog. The research shows then (in the part two) the potential to build a Digital Style Dictionary and A Digital Visual Compass: A Human-Centric Guide on The Aspect of Seeing Reality’s that can support identifying aspects of multiple realities (core reality, abstract reality, surreal reality and artificial reality) — where two cases (in the part three) of visual styles get analyzed, discussed, reframed, and presented (Transpace and Swisch). Fundamentally this paper looks to provoke a discussion on what we humans want the point to be in seeing styles. The complexity is as grand as our diversity, but still, this research highlights the hope to respectfully identify the distinctive shades of styles for the sake of a more significant human dialog and inclusion. The research´s grand ambition is knowingly bigger than what it itself can grasp to complete right now (2021) fully. It proposes an idea for the near future to shape a Digital Style Dictionary and a Digital Visual Compass that works for the common human aspect of seeing styles. This research is a first attempt towards shaping the fundamental frame towards a spectrum of the style´s, that we can respectfully continue to articulate for the sake to include better human communication on the aspect of seeing distinctiveness, not that style´s stands in a capital value program between something “high” or “low.” Instead, we can now start to collaborate in shaping and building these potential tools as A Digital Style Dictionary and A Digital Visual Compass in sharing a more human-centric spectrum of styles to push the human evolution of knowledge further.
