Nordfeldt, Maja January 2023 (has links)

Nature, culture, rights : exploring space for indigenous agency in protected area discourses / Natur, kultur, rättigheter : urfolks handlingsutrymme i naturskyddsdiskurser

Reimerson, Elsa January 2015 (has links)
There is considerable geographical overlap between areas set aside for nature conservation or protection and Indigenous peoples’ lands, and the social, economic, and political consequences of protected areas have often been extensive for Indigenous peoples. Discourses of conservation converge with discourses of Indigenous peoples, and both carry a legacy of colonial constructs and relationships. With these overlaps as a point of departure, the purpose of this thesis is to explore how the discourses that govern nature conservation and protected areas shape the conditions for Indigenous peoples’ influence and participation in the governance and management of protected areas on their lands. I pursue this aim by analyzing, and critically examining the consequences of, the construction of Indigenous subject positions and conditions for agency in discourses of nature conservation and protected areas. The empirical focus of the thesis lies with international discourses of protected areas and Indigenous peoples and on local and national discourses articulated in relation to two cases of protected areas in Sápmi. My analytical framework builds on postcolonial theory and discourse theory. I use space for agency as a concept to describe and analyze the effects of the discursive positionings and constructions that shape the ability or capacity of individuals or group to act or to be perceived as legitimate actors. My results show twomain articulations of Indigenous subject positions in protected area discourses, which enable and restrain the space for Indigenous agency in different ways. One articulation connects Indigenous peoples to conservation through the concept of traditional knowledge, thereby positioning Indigenous subjects mainly as holders of traditional knowledge and justifying Indigenous influence by its potential contribution to conservation objectives. The other articulation focuses on the rights pertaining to Indigenous peoples as peoples, including land rights and the right to selfdetermination. These articulations are not necessarily mutually exclusive, but they have potentially different consequences and indicate discursive tensions that can affect the space for Indigenous agency in relation to protected areas. Moreover, my results demonstrate the hegemony of discourses that takes conservation through area protection for granted and subordinates Indigenous land use to conservation objectives, structure Indigenous agency as “participation” in specific types of arrangement, and articulate Indigenous rights in relation to hegemonic constructions of sovereignty, self-determination, and rights. These hegemonic formations silence articulations that would challenge the authority of colonizing societies over Indigenous territories, suppress radical critique of the fundamental nature of arrangements for protected area governance and management, and subdue alternatives to discourses of contemporary liberal democracy and individual property rights.

Ali, Shadan January 2020 (has links)
The essay is a qualitative study based on interviews with school curators and a student coach who in various ways in their work come into contact with girls who live in an honor culture. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the Swedish school treats girls who in one way or another live in an honor culture and how the schools work with honor issues. The research question that has formed the basis of the study was the following: How does the Swedish school respond to honor culture? The results are analyzed based on the previously presented research, Al-Baldawi's theory of the individual-centered and group-centered way of thinking, and Hylland-Eriksen's theory of the creation of a “we” and “they”. The results show that honor culture occurs within the Swedish school and is given more attention, partly because professionals have more knowledge and experience on the subject but also because the interest has increased from different quarters to investigate the phenomenon. However, all respondents agree that more and different kinds of efforts are still needed to give the girls support and help, but above all to work for prevention.

Kunskap och kompetens i trygghetens tjänst : En kvalitativ analys om kvalitet på privata skyddade boenden / Knowledge and competence in the service of security : A qualitative analysis of the quality of private shelters

Vilceanu, Marinela, Kisch, Sandra January 2024 (has links)
The aim of the study was to examine how staff and managers at private shelters define quality in the work with victims of violence. Furthermore, the study aimed to examine what quality means in terms of knowledge and competence and what conditions the business provides its staff to achieve these requirements. The results show that quality is often governed by laws and quality indicators, with a focus on standardized methods. This can reduce flexibility and increase bureaucracy, which in turn negatively affects the quality of work with the client. The study confirms that a strict organizational view of quality ignores immeasurable aspects such as self-reflection and self-awareness, which the informants emphasize as important factors for quality in work with clients. The work criticizes the current structure and proposes the development of quality indicators that include occupational professionalism values to achieve sustainable quality within sheltered housing.

En studie om skogsägares syn på hållbart skogsbruk i Sverige : En analys av skogsägares värderingar / A study of forest owners view on sustainable forestry in Sweden : An analysis of forest owners' values

Sjösten, Emil, Eriksson, Simon January 2022 (has links)
This study intends to investigate how different demographic groups among individual forest owners in Sweden view issues related to sustainable forestry. The study also intends to investigate what different individual forest owners perceive as positive/negative aspects in terms of species protection and policy changes. It also investigates in what way individual forest owners' views and forestry relate to decided goals and what previous research defines as sustainable forestry. To investigate this, a survey has been conducted where the survey was distributed to individual forest owners around the country through various online communication channels such as social media and online forums. The survey resulted in a total of 226 respondents spread across most parts of the country. The results that emerged from the study shows demographic differences and similarities, where we for example can see that there is a greater proportion of women than men who believe that Swedish forestry is not sustainable today. At the same time, we can observe that the majority believe that it is sustainable within all demographic groups. Incidentally, we can see that there is a dividing line between authorities and the interests of individual forest owners. Views on sustainable forestry vary and many forest owners strive for less government intervention in their forestry and property rights are central. We see a willingness to compromise if the forest owner receive financial compensation, in terms of protected areas. We can also see goal conflicts between forest owners' views and uses and authorities' directives and goals.

Den inre digitala marknadens framtid : Medlemsstaternas dilemma med implementeringen av upphovsrättsdirektivet: fokus på svensk respektive fransk rätt / The Future of the Digital Single Market : The Member States’ dilemma with the implementation of the Copyright Directive: focus on Swedish and French law

Ekstrand, Johan, Landström, Jennifer January 2020 (has links)
