Jean-Pierre, Myrlande 01 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this research was to explore the perceptions of Haitian women that had immigrated to Quebec in the past five years, of their sexual relationships with men and the extent to which it is reflected in the different types of conjugal relationships. After choosing a qualitative research method, the intersectional feminist theory has been adopted for the analysis. Individual semi-structured interviews were conducted with 9 Haitian women, aged 18 and 60 years and having immigrated to Quebec in the past five years. The women’s perceptions of sexual relationships have been reported as being a set of practices and discourses interrelated built since childhood and reproducing the unequal relationships between men and women that exist in the Haitian society and in the couples. These unequal relationships are transmitted through the generations and through most of the social institutions such as family, school, culture, laws. This process is also influenced by socio-economic and power issues. The results of this research give scientific data on women sexuality and couple relationships as well as the influence of immigration process. These results also emphasize the need for the Haitian social work to encourage the development of economic empowerment of women and their participation in current debates in society on the development of women. / Memwa sa a vle etidye ki pèsepsyon fanm ayisyèn yo genyen de rapò seksyel yo ak gason, e nan ki mezi pèsepsyon sa yo repwodwi kalite relasyon ki egziste ant yomenm ak nèg yo. Fason sa yo medanm yo konprann seksyalite a tou, se yon bagay ki soti nan relasyon fòskote ki egziste ant fanm ak gason, ni nan sosyete ayisyènn nan, ni nan relayon konjigal yo. Considering the rodriguean theater’s virulence and the art’s power of giving expression to the unconscious creations, we suppose Nelson Rodrigues dramaturgy may carry important contributions on the psychoanalyst knowledge improvement about female sexuality. For that, this study has taken as analysis material the plays: Senhora dos Afogados(Lady of the Drowned), Vestido de Noiva (The Wedding Dress) and A Serpente (The Serpent. Based on Psychoanalysis theoretical references, Freudian concepts of unconscious, drive, repression, Oedipus complex, early Oedipus complex, castration complex, identification e superego were fundamental to guide this investigation; as well as the drama category action. The present research was bibliographic and sought, by the plays discourse analysis, to stick to the Rodrigues writing subtlety, as a sort of discourse transmitted by words and action. Thereby, Nelson Rodrigues theater’s women showed themselves, above all, rapt by passion and voluptuousness, in name of a “want” that exceeds desire and the meeting with the object; “want” also seems to lean on the shape of “another woman”, depository of an ambivalent love par excellence.

Nine Lives: A History of Cat Women, Subversive Femininity, and Transgressive Archetypes in Film

Barnett, Katrina 08 1900 (has links)
The intention of this thesis is to identify and analyze the cat woman archetype as a contemporary extension of the transgressive witch archetype, which rampantly appears over the course of cinema history, working as a signifier of a patriarchal society's fear of autonomous and subversive women. The character of Catwoman is the ultimate representation for this archetype on grounds of her visibility, longevity, and ability to return again and again. More importantly, Catwoman and her sisterhood of cat women work against male creators as a means of female empowerment through trickery. Within this thesis, key films of varying genres are drawn from throughout cinema history and analyzed in order to demonstrate the intertextual network of characters that make up the cat woman archetype, and the importance of the Catwoman character in her many forms.

Dr. Eleine Mad

Jacobsson, Madeleine January 2021 (has links)
Dr. Eleine Mad is Madeleine Jacobsson's spokesperson for the scientific and paranormal discoveries that arise in her worlds. She describes content, tecniques and aesthetics based on a categorization system where art is divided into different types of components and then decoded as they go. To understand the intuition's involvement in the work process, it is transformed into three separate roles by a Seeker, Collector and a Myntare(In swedish language the one who is a "myntare" -is verbally declaring a concept or term). With these roles I try to describe in what ways intuition is beneficial or devastating to the artistic work. The story of M is about a frog-like character, Delop, who leaves the home planet to seek out other worlds. In her search, Delop finds a world whose views and lifestyles differ from her experiences of "reality" as she learned to survive in it. /
Recorded sound and image material of the presentation is available for private use.
